Box beside email address on itunes screen
What is the box beside my email address on the itunes main page in the upper right hand corner? It looks like it has a dollar amount in it. I haven't noticed it before today.

That likely indicates money redeemed from a gift card or credits from the iTunes Store staff. The next purchases you make will count against it instead of being charged to your credit card.

Box containing email address appears on screen
A box with an email address from a recent contact appears in the top middle of the screen over all open windows. It may be a person recently emailed. Is this a bug or a virus? I cannot remove the box but it goes away if I restart only to return later. This is a 27 inch iMac intel about 5 years old OS 10.10.2
I get the same thing. If I hover over a To or From field I'll get that sometimes. I haven't figured out exactly what I do to get it to pop up and remain. It's intermittent as you've learned.
Report it to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html. The only workaround at this time is to close and reopen Mail.
It won't hurt to reboot occasionally to clear out temp and cache files. -
Why is itunes not allowing me to use my new email address? Itunes wont authorize to me to dowload anything - I haven't accessed Itunes for over a year during that time my computer crashed, I had to change email addresses and things got lost...like passwords and so forth and so on...I recieved two emails to [email protected] from itunes saying all was good and then all wasn't good. Please, can you help me!
I suggest you go to Apple's ID site, log in and update everything. Then you will surely get a confirmation mail.
Once all is done, you will most probably be able to log in to the iTunes store again. -

On each device go to Settings> iTunes and App store> Turn off automatic downloads of Music, Apps and Books. Now a purchase will only go to the device from which it was ordered.

You can reset all of your settings for the Apple TV, which includes your account information:

cchanged email address on iTunes & icloud & Apple id. All updated & showing on iCloud etc as my new email address, yet I can't update or download anything as when I try it keeps asking for my old email address / password !?

When you change the primary email address on your account you may need to then log out of your account on your iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in with the updated version of the account so as to 'refresh' the account on it

Synching new email address with itunes and iphone.
I had a change in email addresses. I changed it on itunes website. But when I try to access it from my iphone, it still has the old email address and won't let me sign in stating wrong user or password. How do I change it on the iPhone? I have done the sync and that doesn't do it.
ThanksClick the iTunes icon on your iPhone, select music and scroll to the bottom of the screen where you will see the name of your account. Click it and then sign out and the box will change to sign-in. Click it and choose "existing account" and then enter your user name and password.

I have Apps that need to be updated on my iPad, but my old email address is imbedded on the password screen. How do I get my new email address there so that my submission goes through to iTunes?

I recently updated my apple id on itunes to match my new email address. When I went to use my iphone and install an app the old apple id (my old email address) appears and it won't recognize it for me to install an app from itunes. I will appreciate anyone assistance.

I changed my email address and iTunes won't play anymore
I switch from AOL to MSN and now my iTunes songs won't play even though I updated all my info with iTunes. I have authorized and re-authorized over and over but still all the songs purchased using my "now deactivated" AOL email account won't play. I checked the song files and there still there on my hard drive (shows 2-4MB for each song)but when I click to play them I get a pop up telling me to authorize so I do, then I get a pop up that say's that I was sucessful and I have used 1 out of 5 computers, but when I click the play button again I get the same results, NOTHING play's. iTunes support just keeps telling me the same thing over and over "DE-authorize and Re-authorize but that does nothing other then telling me I was sucessful even though it's not working. PLease Help I have over 200 iTunes songs that won't play......
Thanks but I've Been There Done That, and when I do use the old AOL sign on the iTunes sign in screen it pops up THIS AOL ACCOUNT IS NO LONGER ACTIVE, so then I chose to update with an apple account, and then everything appears to work until I click on the song again to play it, then nothing but a pop up starting me from the begining asking me to sign in with the AOL account again. So then I enter my new apple info and the screen pop up say's I have been sucessful in authorizing 1 out of 5 computers so at this time I would think the songs would play but they don't. I should mention I have 2 iTunes accounts 1 that had a verizon email address(1 ver & 1 AOL), and I did this same process for that account and those songs and videos play. I'm starting to believe this is an Apple/AOL clich when you switch email accounts to another provider other then AOL and transfer to an Apple account.

I had to change my personal email address that was linked to my iTunes and iCloud. According to the information in my Apple ID, it is switched over. My phone, however, disagrees with me. I keep getting a pop-up asking me to sign into my iCloud account, but it has my previous email address Apple ID information displayed. When I look in my settings under iCloud, it still shows my old information and I cannot see any way to change it. Any ideas?
You need to check icloud on the phones setting you will see the old email there

My husband purchased an iphone at xmas and evrything was fine until i purchased 1 yesterday . We both use the same email address which is linked to our itunes account (ithink) I registered mine yesterday and all my husbands contacts came on to my phone, so i deleted them and he lost them all on his phone :-( now if he adds or deletes anything i get it or the other way round please please helpIf you are saying that you both have iCloud accounts and use the same icloud ID, then yes, the contacts will be deleted. The idea is that all devices using the same icloud ID are kept in sync. You need to use different IDs. You can keep the same iTunes ID so you can share the songs and apps. But use different icloud IDs.

HI my partner used my apple id and email address when setting up his iPhone so when he turned on iCloud our phones merged!! How do we undo this? Can he still use my iTunes account with a different Id and can he change the email on his phone without losing information? Also iPad is linked too, the family uses this and I would like to keep my phone separate! At the moment nothing is sacred! Please help! We are not very good with computers!!
Several things here so let me attempt to clarify.
For iCloud the reason the contacts where removed from he other device is because you updated your contacts, in this case deleted them, and then iCloud updated the other device to match. By deleting the iCloud account on the device it will stop the device from using that iCloud account and therefore nothing will change on the other device. By using a seperate Apple ID you can still use the features of iCloud, Find My iPhone comes to mind, without your content (contacts, message etc.) merging with the other device
For iTunes, you cannot use two Apple IDs for one account however if you use the same account iTunes on your computer will keep the content on each device seperate very nicely. You can also configure the settings for iTunes and the App store on each device to keep the content from automatically downloading to the other device. What I meant by share apps and music is this. What happens if you find a game, lets say Minecraft, that you really like and it cost, as Mincraft cost, $6.99USD. You buy it and play for a while and then you realize that your husband really likes the game as well. If you both use the same Apple ID for iTunes he can download the $7.00ish game to his device at no additional charge. If you use seperate Apple IDs for iTunes well... it look like he will also be paying for the game to have it on his account. Same goes for Music and Movies
