** Create New Transaction Check Box in BPM

Hi Friends,
I have ticked the check box 'Create New Transaction' for every step in BPM. In Block I have mentioned 'Block Start' & 'Block End' property as 'New Transaction'.
I have gone through SAP Help Transactional Behaviour of BPM. Somewhere it is mentioned by check this to increase system performance, database hit time will be reduced. Somewhere 'No New Transaction' is recommened.
I am confusing on this.
Could you kindly help me to understand this clearly ? (Like, what is the advantage of 'Create new Transaction'?, If untick what will happen ? ...)

it depends on how you decide to use the property.
in help it mentions;
Transactional Behavior for Specific Step Types
At runtime, the system normally creates a separate transaction for each step. The transaction then covers this step only. However, you can influence the transactional behavior of particular step types. In the step properties, you can define that the system is not to start a new transaction when the step is executed. The system then executes the step in the transaction that was started at the time of execution. Consequently, no background work item is created for the step and the database does not need to be accessed. In this way you can improve system performance.
by defining to not use a new transaction at the right place you can improve performance.
It also depends on step types. For example in case of a sync send this is what help says;
No New Transaction: You can expect better system performance if the system does not create a new transaction for the send step. However, only select this setting if by repeating the send step the result is not changed (idempotency). This is the case, for example, with lookup operations.
Note
If you have selected this setting and an error occurs, synchronous sending can also cause problems in the pipeline and the receiver system following the rollback. Messages with an error status can also remain in the pipeline.
New Transaction: If the result is changed when the step is repeated, choose Create New Transaction. Otherwise the following error situation can occur: The system successfully executes a synchronous send step but an error occurs in the subsequent step. The system rolls back processing and executes all steps in the transaction - including the send step - again. If the send step results in a write-to operation in the receiver system, for example, creating a purchase order, this is also repeated. This can result in semantic errors.
Mainly transaction processing helps to have a roll back implemented.

I am trying to install Oracle SOA Suite/BPM Suite VirtualBox Appliance and download all the part of zip files

When i check with MD5sum for the above file, not one file is matched with the given hash code series.
Even i joined all the files which resulted in oel5u5-64bit-soabpm-11gr1-ps5-2-0-M.7z and when i tried to extract it to get *.OVA* , i am ending with an error cannot open archive file ! I:\SOA VM Box\SOA\oel5u5-64bit-soabpm-11gr1-ps5-2-0-M.7z: Cannot open I:\SOA VM Box\SOA\oel5u5-64bit-soabpm-11gr1-ps5-2-0-M.7z
I doubt the archive is corrupted. But i dont see any specific error of it.
I download same files 4 time, but all are ended with same error.

Can some one please help me if any one have solution.

Hi Taark,
If the MD5sum is not matching it's probably because is corrupted... Are you behind a proxy server when downloading the files, it's possible that the proxy server has some anti-virus and it's removing something from the file...
May you can ask the security guys in your company to try and download the files for you from a dmz location avoiding the proxy and see if something changes...

Oracle BPM checkbox

I am new to Oracle BPM and I have a requirement to make a check box in BPM form. Like Select Documents: Inter [], Middle[],Master[].

Wouldn't you want a radio button if the user was only supposed to select one of the choices? With a checkbox, the user usually thinks they can select multiple items. To create a hard coded static radio button group on an ADF form, follow the steps listed below. This adds a new "Request Type" set of radio buttons on the form that is bound to a human task's "RequestType" element:
1. Right click the existing "RequestType" field (the field you want to create the new dropdown for on the form).
2. Select Insert after Input Text -> Select "Radio Group".
3. Click the "Create List" radio button.
4. Click the + New icon and add an item label and value for each item you want to appear in the dropdown (e.g., Item Label "Inter" and Item Value "INTER").
5. Click the Next button -> change the Label field to be "Request Type".
6. Click Finish.
7. Now that you have a new radio button field, you need to bind it to the correct attribute so that the RequestType value clicked in the dropdown is stored back into the BPM object variable’s RequestType attribute. To get this, click the original RequestType field the field directly above your dropdown).
With the original RequestType field selected, in the Property Inspector tab in the lower right corner, copy the text in the "Value" property to your clipboard (Control-C).
8. Select the new RequestType radio button group and in the Property Inspector tab paste (Control-V) the clipboard value into the Value dropdown field.
9. Delete the original RequestType field.

Auto Claim Tasks in BPM Human Workflow

All,
I have a requirement with a customer to auto claim tasks. When a user selects a task from their task list (tasks by default are assigned to a role), it should be auto claimed. This is to prevent other users from working the task at the same time.
I appreciate I could educate / train the users to have to press the Claim button first, however I was investigating the feasibility of doing an Auto claim to reduce the need for the users to do this.
Does anyone know if this is supported Out of the box with BPM Suite? I have looked around the documentation and have seem no ways of doing this. An alternative would be to use the BPM API's however I ideally would prefer to not need to write custom logic for this.
Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated

Hi Dave,
The default when you create a human task is that it is set to auto claim. To see this, open one of your human tasks -> click "Assignment" -> click the pencil icon in the upper right corner. There you should see the "Enable Auto Claim" checkbox already checked by default.

if you know the password of the account, i think you can also access the mail using mail client, like you use outlook to deal with your company mail daily.

Oracle BPM 10.3 File Save Dialog Box

The compilation within Studio works with a bit smaller (like 35MBytes) project, thus I think the problem is some sort of memory handling.
The problem comes up while it is trying to compie/load 'external resources': it still works with 512M or even 256M of heap before this operation.
Some weird thing is that I cannot set Xmx >640M, nor launcher.XXMaxPermSize > 1024M (winXP SP2, 2G RAM). While I'm sure that nothing is hacked around the memory allowance of Windows (i.e. how much memory does it allow for particular executables), I think this operation should be tested to work even on 256M heap...
On the other hand, the ANT compilation works well.
Well, almost well.
I have had some errors in my project, which ALBPM6.0 said to be OK, like defining a String array attribute 'not null' and setting no default value; or defining some object to be abstract and instantiating it.
However these errors are not always reported, e.g. during catalog compilation: XY must be explicitly instantiated before being used since it does not have a default initialization... thus made it static (however, it has been used as static all the time).
I had to hack CatalogPublisher a bit so that I can read them on stdout, and correct those syntax errors.
For this possibility, iterate over the non-empty foCheckerListener.getPresentationErr() in CatalogPublisher after checkXO().

How to capture the Filename Dynamically in BPM

Hi All,
My scenario is FileBPMFile and my target end should get the same file name as source file name.
If suppose it is simple File to File we can use set attributes option to get the same filename.
But if BPM comes into Middle will it be managed if so how?
Can anyone suggest me?

Hi,
There is no difference between File>BPM>File & File-->File with the requirement you are looking for.
Since you are not doing any modifications to the filename read from Sender File System no need for dynamic configuration concept in UDF of any mapping.
Do the following
Sender File Adapter Channel.
file name : a particular file name or a .(STAR.STAR) according to your requirement.
e.g., test.xml (or) *.xml (or) . (STAR.STAR)
Enable Adapter- Specific Message Attributes check box and make sure that the File Name check box is enabled. Save and Activate.
Receiver File Adapter Channel
file name : . (STAR.STAR)
Enable Adapter- Specific Message Attributes check box and make sure that the File Name check box is enabled. Save and Activate.
Execute your scenario.

There is formatting problem by the portal application as some characters will have specific meaning.

Receiver determination step in the BPM and multiline container

i have made a file2file scenario where:
there is a BPM,
the BPM has a send step which contains a receive step,
a transformation that mapps the incomin message to two messages(Split-messgae case),
and then a FORK step which sends the two messges to through 2 SEND steps to the intended receiver services.
It didnt work......and i followed a blog-> /people/sudharshan.aravamudan/blog/2005/12/01/illustration-of-multi-mapping-and-message-split-using-bpm-in-sap-exchange-infrastructure ............... which suggested to have a
"receiver-determination" step in the BPM before the SEND step.... it says that this
"receiver-determination" step will put the message in a MULTILINE container..
i m confused bout this step ........ can anybody explain.....
please help

In receiver determination step selctthe multi line container element.in container editor create the one element with type as receiver and select the check box.
A Receiver Determination step returns set of receivers configured for the output abs interfaces in the directory and puts it into receiver which is a multiline container receiver element

To launch Oracle BPM deployed Web Services [In BPM Enterprise]

Hi all,
I have expose my Process Instance into Web Services in Studio.
It is working well. In Studio, I start the Engine (Run -> Start Engine),
Then, I Start the Web Services (Run -> Launch deployed Web Services webapps).
It would show me my local webservice links.
http://localhost:9000/albpmServices/<ProjectName>/ws
But, I unable to launch this Web Service Webapps, when i deploy the project into Oracle BPM Enterprise with Weblogic Server.
May know what is the link for BPM Enterprise?

I have the process exposed as a web-service with two methods..
One for Process Creation and another for Notification Wait Activity...
I have also checked the box to start PAPI WS Services on my standalone server
Is there some other config that I need to make inside my standalone server to get this WSDL?
I understand that standalone works on Tomcat...

Why are you trying to import BPM zip file are you trying to configure the out of the box workflows?
They are something that need to be deployed from the process admin on BPM.
There would be the .exp file you would need as its BPM 10g that you would need to use.

How to use BPM itegrate different system aysnchronously

for example, 3 enterprise applications need to be integrated together with BPM, which are Bid system, ERP system, Finance system,
and erery business document should be approved by persons one by one in the 3 different application system with its workflow respectively, we can't change the workflow in the
different system, and only when the document is finished approved in the BID system asynchronously, it can enter the ERP system, an so on .
after the business document is approved in the Bid system, it should be returned in the BPM contexts,and the BPM user will dicide whether it will be enter the next system.
so how to integrate the 3 application system?

Gavin,
For asynchronous cases, you should adopt the "wait and trigger" principle. In BPM, you can acheive it by using a timer and an automated activity. Set the timer repeat time to say 15 mins (you should change it as per your business scenario), and then execute / trigger an automated activity, which will call your Bid system to check the state (whether the data entry / specific workflow is over). If the state is completed, (you may check using exclusive choice), move to next step. Else, pass back the control to timer which will again make the process wait. This way the objective could be attained.

How to process two files at the same time using BPM

Hi experts,
I have a Integration Process it takes two files one Header xml and one Lines xml. These files shoudl be processed at the same time because them will be mappend in a Idoc.
The realy trouble is that these inbound xmls never are executed at the same time. Then a IP is executed for each inbound xml.

Hi Jose,
Don't specify any end condition for fork step and check the start process check box in both the receive step.
Also put all steps inside the block.. so that the control step in deadline branch can throw exception and after that the BPM ends. As per the design now, if a deadline exception is raised (it will b handled) but after that the transformation step and send step is executed. There the BPM fails.

BPM file to ABAP proxy

HI all
I´m developing a BPM, this has the following steps:
1º
Reciver Step: this is to read a file , comunication channel type file.
2º transformation Step: maps the MT of the file to a new MT
3º Send step: send syncronously the result of the the map.Using an ABAP proxy. XI adapter.
4ºSwitch step: compares de the value of the result of the syncronous call, with a constant.First branch Send Step to write a file
Second branch nothing.
My question is? Do i have to insert something before the switch. Because i cannot activate the BPM, In the SXI_CACHE i can see and error that says that the value that i´m using to compare the value it is not an object of the payload.
Any idea?

In the condition editor:
When you do a f4 for the left operanfd text box:
The expression editor opens:
You need to click on the "Interface Variable" radio button and select your container salida_proxy and prove the correct xpath.
Make sure that the Type specified next to the xpath in the expression editor is String.
A f4 in the right operand text box opens a expression ediote, where:
You need to click on the constant radio button, and provide the constant 0.
Again make sure that the xsd trype is String.
In case all this has been done perfectly, then try deleting the switch and recreating it again. You never know, this might do the trick!
