Boxed upgrade to CS6

Is the boxed upgrade to CS6 for Design Standard MAC and PC available? I am unable to find a listing for it, just Creative Cloud stuff.

  • ?'s Regarding ProDesignTools article "How to Move or Upgrade Adobe CS6 from One Computer to Another"

I have read this article: http://prodesigntools.com/move-adobe-cs5-between-computers-or-windows-to-mac.html and have the following questions:
I have an older Windows laptop and would like to purchase a box version of CS6. If my Windows laptop crashes or begins to malfunction, I would like to purchase a MacBook.
If, at that time, CS7 has not yet been released, is it true that all I would need to do would be to deactivate the software on my Windows computer and install on my MacBook, using the same registered serial number, in a "crossgrade"?
I understand that there would be an available free 30-day trial of CS6 on the MacBook as I install and activate on it. Would it be possible then for a Mac version of CS6 to be sent to me?
I would likely not have to purchase another CS6 under these circumstances, correct?
If, at that time, CS7 has already been released, I would have to do the aforementioned as well as purchase an upgrade to CS7, correct?

You got it all wrong. No, you cannot simply use your Win serial on a Mac. All this stuff requires a proper platform swap, which is free for current versions, but can only be done once. And you don't get physical media unless you explicitly request it. It's simply a download. If and when CS7 is available, you simply buy the upgrade and switch platforms.

  • Hi there, i want to buy a registered version of PS CS4 (and an Upgrade to CS6)from a private Person...is there any Possibility to check if the Adobe ID,Licence,User is a real person...or a fake before buying it? Thanks for helping!

    Hi,
just got an offer from a private Person, who owns a boxed Version of Photoshop CS4 (DVD) and an Upgrade from CS4 to CS6....he told me that he can transfer the current license to me... now there's one important question for me...
Is there any possibility to check his Adobe-ID (which he already told me) if it's the same adress, name, etc. as he told me...
or if there is an registered Version of PS CS4 owned by this Adobe-ID?
Just like to check if he's a real person or a fake...don't want to buy any stolen or illegal software...or beeing punked after paying the money...
Thank you very much for helping me! :-)

Old versions of Photoshop are not marketed by Adobe. Only CS5 can be upgraded to CS6.  There are many scams on the web if you find a cheap copy of Photoshop out there its most likely a scam... Be careful.....

  • Upgrading to CS6 Design and Web Premium from CS4 Design Premium Install Failure

I am trying to upgrade to CS6 Design and Web Premium from CS4 Design Premium on Win 7 (32bit).  I am nistalling from the DVD which was purchased from the Adobe Store.  The box says it is for Upgrading from 4 or 3x.   I am entering the CS6 serial number and it is able to validate it.   When it goes into the Preparing to Install mode  the status bar never changes and after what seems like a very long time the Installation failed message is displayed.  I ran the Adobe Support advisor and  followed the link to the page that tells you how to resolve the issues and chose to go into the registry and look for "In Progess".  There was no "In Progress".     I have the serial numbers for CS4 and CS6 so they should be valid given that both were purchased through the Adobe Store.   I am very frustrated!!!!!!!!!
    Installation Status:
    Installation failed:
    Adobe Advisor Results:
    Regestry:

I downloaded and installed the Application manager and re-started the installation.  This time it got to installiing the applications and after 3 hours it was only 55% completed and showing that it was installing Acrobat  and had 2 hours to go. It seemed to be stuck so I cancelled the install.

First thing's first: ignore Harm and the other PC bigots.
Now that that's over: what do you mean by the "process?"  Purchase the upgrade through Adobe's online store and download the DMG file from them.  Once you have it, install it, and when it asks for the license of your previous version, enter in the CS5.5 one from your Windows box.
Is that what you were looking for?  Or something else?

Probably best to ask in the CS forum. If you still have the software keys for CS4, then upgrading to CS6 should work, but you need to check the upgrade policy on the Adobe Store to be sure. Generally you only need the software key to do the upgrade. If you do not have the key, then you may be up a creek unless you registered (as you should). If you registered, Adobe can likely help on getting you the keys needed for the upgrade. I suggest you confirm this in the CS forum.

  • PDF presets are lost after upgrade to CS6 and uninstallation CS4

Since upgrading to CS6 from CS4 and subsequently uninstalling CS4 (and CS3) - as advised by IT - I have lost the presets I had when I export to pdf from Illustrator & Indesign - the drop down menu options of PRESS QUALITY, HIGH QUALITY and SMALLEST FILE SIZE have gone.
I have a back up of CS4's settings but no idea which one I need and what to do with it in order to reinstate these options.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks so much

You simply would have to copy the presets into the  folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Settings
I'd be careful, though. Overwriting default presets with an older version may cause compatibilty issues.

  • Upgrading to CS6 returns: "This serial number is not for a qualifying product"

I have CS5 and have been using it for about 2 years. The Serial number for CS5 it is registered to my adobe id.
So i decided to upgrade to CS6 today. I then registered that to my adobe id as well.
When i open CS6 and enter my new serial number, it tells me:
Serial Number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer
Which is strange because CS5 is currently installed and running on this computer
So it then prompts me to select a previous product that I own and enter the serial number for that. So I select CS5 and enter the serial number for my CS5 license.
However, it then tells me: "This serial number is not for a qualifying product. Please try another"
But it doesn't tell may any further details. I.e. Why is it not valid?
    Can you help?
    Thanks!

Brazzers234 is the serial number for CS5 also an upgrade?  The upgrade process is looking for a full version serial number.  You can determine what type of serial number is registered under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  For additional details please see Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.
If you have verified that the CS5 serial number is a full version serial number or your previous full version serial number is still not accepted then please contact our support team directly at Contact Customer Care to verify the validity of the previous version serial number.

  • I'm confused - does it still make sense to upgrade to CS6 now?

    Hi,
I wanted to switch from Mac to Windows in the near future and therefore upgrade from CS5 to CS6 (because apparantly it's not possible to switch my CS5 license to another OS).
Cloud version is a no-go for me, one reason is because I don't like monthly fees, I want to buy things and own them.
Now, with the CC versions announced and the discontinuation of the Creative Suite, I am not sure it even makes sense to upgrade to CS6 anymore? Would I invest in a more or less dead product?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm really confused about this.

Ok. nevermind. I decided to buy a new Mac and to continue using CS5 as long as possible while looking for alternative software.

  • Can I still upgrade to CS6

I'm setting up a replacement laptop and want to upgrade to CS6

Again, what do you mean by "upgrade link on the Adobe site"?
Are you talking about the link to buy CS6 as an upgrade from CS5?  CS4 is totally out of the upgrade loop.
Or are you referencing a link to download the CS6 trial version?
The former is available at the Adobe Store simply by following the steps to purchase CS6. After clicking on Buy and selecting your platform, Mac or Win, in the next step you have a chance to select Upgrade from a dropdown menu.  Remember you have to have a legitimate copy of CS5 to upgrade to CS6.  CS4 does not qualify.
The trial version is also available at the Adobe site, but that's the one you really have to drill down to.  That's why I suggested Google, e.g.:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=repair+psd+file&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en- US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=rcs#bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&channel=rcs&fp=74c7ae8e827 af690&q=download+photoshop+cs6+trial+version&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&safe=off
If you already had CS6 Photoshop 13.0.0 or even 13.0.4 for the Mac and wanted to update that, there is a direct download to the Photoshop CS6 13.0.5 update
    http://download.cnet.com/Adobe-Photoshop-CS6/9241-2192_4-12694162.html?messageID=10871113
You can also use a FTP client (or your browser if it supports FTP) and download from the Adobe FTP server (ftp.adobe.com). The files are in /pub/adobe/cs6/downloads :
Windows (launch the .exe which will open the 7z file):
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/cs6/downloads/Photoshop_13_LS6.7z
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/cs6/downloads/Photoshop_13_LS6.exe
    Mac :
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/cs6/downloads/Photoshop_13_LS6.dmg
Previous versions are also available in /pub/adobe/photoshop/win and /pub/adobe/photoshop/mac
These folders are public so you don't need any identifier to connect.

  • Free Upgrade to CS6 with Purchase of CS5.5

In case anyone is considering moving to CS5.5 now would be a good time.
Any CS5.5 purchase now gets a free upgrade to CS6 when it ships.
    Bob

Why not just wait? Or is CS6 likely to cost more?
Pricing is not yet announced for CS6, but if you buy CS5.5 you get to use that while you wait for CS6, and you can take your time moving to CS6 until the first service update is released if you're one of those folks who likes to let other users find the bugs that got missed during testing. There's almost always a bug-fix update in the first 90 days or so.
Another reason not to wait is that if you do any work with other people, they are unlikely to all upgrade to CS6 at the same time.
Since new releases of InDesign cannot directly save old version files, you'll need to export files from CS6 to IDML and run the risk that the export might be imperfect -- if you need to work with other people.
But if you buy CS5.5 now (and get the free upgrade to CS6), then you'll have CS5.5 and you can use it if you need, to when working with others.
    Also:
Are there system requirements listed for CS6? Currently have an iMac i7 running 10.6.8. Thanks for the notification on the upgrade!!!
I can't really imagine a processor as new as a Core i7 would not be supported. You should be fine.
Similarly, there's a huge installed base of Snow Leopard, so that should also be fine.
