BOXI R2 universe integration / consolidation

Hi! I'm looking for a utility/application that helps me integrate/consolidate universes in BOXI R2.
The application should be able to merge universes easily (for eg. development and production universes) and should visually highlight the differences in terms of new/changed/deleted objects, tables, and conditions.
Any kind of help/suggestions will be appreciated.

I can understand your frustration as it is not accessible through the normal download pages on Service Market Place where you can only find the Integration Kit for XI 3.0.
You can find it here though:
Log on to Service Market Place > Downloads > Business Objects Download > Installations and Upgrades > service.sap.com / installations (click link i content area) > Entry by Application Group, and then go this way: Installations and Upgrades > BusinessObjects packages and products > BOBJ INTGR.FOR SAP > BOBJ INTGR. FOR SAP XI R2.

Concept of Integrated Consolidation Unit of SEM BCS

HI Experts,
I'm now in the SEM BCS 4.0 and BW 3.5 implementation. Previously I was the ECCS specialist and before the FI and AM specialist.
Now I'm in SEM BCS implementation.
I have one question in connection to the integrated consolidation unit. As the reference, I take the concept of this using the ECCS.
As you might know, the creation of integrated consolidation unit for using realtime update method in ECCS, is pulled from FI company ID.
Meanings if I set the configuration properly, I can pull out the company master data as the consolidation unit master data in consolidation monitor.
Now, in SEM BCS, I want to do the same thing. I mean, off course I can create company ID in R/3 and then create the consolidation unit manually using UCWB. But this scenario can create inconsistency, and I also think this is not the right concept of doing integration between R/3 and SEM BCS.
My question is : what is the concept of this master data integration, and what is the proper way to do it?
Any advise on this question is highly appreciated.

In BOX R2 Universe how to create External Function in C++??

Hi All,
Can any one tell me how to create dynamic SQL Query in BOXI R2 Universe, I heard that we can create c++ custom external functions.
i know the procedure for using Oracle functions but that is taking more time to generate report.
I want to create a conditional statement inside universe
Following are three queries
Query1 = select a,b,c,d from aab where a=@Prompt(jjjjjjj)
Query2 = select a,b,c,d from aab where a=oracleFunction(@Prompt(jjjjjjj))
Query3 = select a,b,c,d from aab where a=@myFunc(@Prompt(jjjjjjj))
The above example is a simple one but in my real senario that function is called 120 times in my single query.
Query1 takes 7 minutes
Query2 takes 30-35 minutes (as that oracle function is called 120 times)
So i want to create a custom external function in c++ so that the conditional expression is evaluated at BOBJ Server and the result of that function goes as a normal static string to oracle server.
so it will again reduce the time

Please provide following information:
1. How are you creating these functions (are you creating a Webi Extension Point)?
2. How are you compiling these functions?
3. Are you using Visual Studio to create these functions?
Webi Rich Client is a 32 bit application so a function which is compiled in 32 bit mode would be visible in it.
To access these functions through BI LaunchPad which is a 64bit application, we need to compile the function in x64 mode.
Also make sure you compile the function in Release mode.

Report on olap universe (integration kit) fails by WEBI and it runs by Rich

I've implemented the integration Kit and an OLAP universe query based and it runs.
I've a problem on a report that runs via Rich Client and fails via web client.
We are on BI 7.0 sp 19. Is it necessary to upgrade to BI 7.01 SP03 or SP04 ? We've seen your interesting document about the improvement of perfomance of BI 7.01 SP04 but we'd like to upgrade our BI system 7.0 in 2 months and not now.

The BO XI 3.1 Fix pack Level is 1.7. We have activated traces but we don't know if the traces are java.
We have the problem with reports with a large quantity of data, in report with a low quantity of data webi runs.
OSS ask us to evaluate the upgrade of our SAP BI to the EHP1 03 but it requires 2 weeks and we'd like to evaluate all alternatives before to do it.

Universe Integrity Check

Prior to exporting the Universe I run the Integrity Check. All items check successfully.
However, when the Export menu item is selected a Check Integrity warning message is displayed.
The text in the message is 'You have not yet checked the integrity of the universe. Do you still watn to export it?"
Why would this message display when an Integrity Check has just been successfully performed?

for your requirement context is one solution (you need to identify fact table & their joins to create context ).
But since don't want to use it try creating derived table (if you have ).
What is impact of that (Performance & result wise) ?

E-Recruiting - active on both central ECC + Standalone box and integrated?

Can someone tell me if the following landscape is possible with E-rec? (we are installing ehp4)
a) Our central ECC system with the E-Rec component activated. Used for internal recruiting.
+
b) A standalone E-Rec box , connected and integrated via ALE to the above central ECC system. Used for external recruiting.
So we now have have E-rec activated on both systems with the standalone one integrated into the ECC6 one where E-rec is also active.
Will we have all the functionality of E-Rec/Talent Mangement availalble in this landscape? Will the manager via the Recruiter business packages and MSS be able to use all functionality seemlesly with all data merged between the systems? Do you think all BI reporting on E-rec will work as it suppose to?
We want to be able to integrate and use the data from both systems as a single unit with standard SAP functionality. We only want to physically seperate where the external and where the internal users log on to.

My suggestion to you would be to have the ECC server upgraded to EHP4, activate E-Recruiting and have it inside the firewall as the back-end server. Recruiters and Managers accessing through portal will access this system. You will have the other server as the front-end server with E-Recruiting. Candidates will update their information in this front-end server, which will in turn update the back-end server through an RFC. This can be achieved through configuration if you check in SPRO.
There is no such thing as external recruiting or internal recruiting to some extend. What you have is external and internal candidates in the same talent pool. It is when you post to candidates where you can select whether you want internal candidates only to apply or external candidates. The external will not see internal postings and vice-versa when they search for jobs. External candidates will login from the internet while internal candidates will login from the portal. Your candidate's information will be residing in both systems but the backend will be updated through an RFC.
In this case the BI will work as normal. I hope this will help you - but this is my opnion.

Delivering Mail to Multiple users from Consolidated External Mailbox

Hi everyone
I'm new to the use of postfix, spamassassin and so on to send and recieve email. On PCs when setting up a small server at home, or with students to demonstrate some of the issues involoved I've used the rather nicely set up Mercury Mail system.
Now I have my own MacMini with OSX Server 10.6.x on it and want to do the same things as I used to do.
POP email from my ISP. The ISP email boxes act as central consolidation points for two or more domains.
Because my DSL connection may be allocated a different IP address when it drops, it has been easier to direct mail this way.
Mail to @mydomain.com and @anotherdomain.com all go to one mailbox at the ISP (thanks to my DNS registry).
Mail may also be retrieved from a GMail account via POP3 or similar to be consolidated on the server/backed up locally.
What I need to do:
- Mail needs to be retrieved from the mailboxes
- Mail needs to be checked for SPAM level and marked as SPAM as needed
- The OSX server via Postfix (?) needs to redirect mail to the appropriate OD user
- If no appropriate user detected then mail is copied to the postmaster account and bounced.
I have seen various tutorials out there for fetchmail/mpop out there but found them a tad confusing.
I have also seen replacement software, but I want to make use of the built in systems such as fetchmail to do what I want.
It would also be nice to have the passwords stored in the keychain for a little more security.
Can anyone help with a suitable guide or willing to help me write a guide to tell people how to do this?

making this executable and putting in the /etc folder as run-fetchmail is the first step
Now this works to deliver messages to the local mail, but you need to access it via the terminal - hmmm...
the fetchall is to grab all the messages even read ones whilst I test...
so I tried removing the mda section so it used the default mda on snow leopard, but the message are not being delivered to the respective users mail.app accessible mailboxes.
I will add daemon to the file once I have the fetching working correctly
so - how on earth do I get the mail to be delivered to the Mail.app accessible mail delivery agent?

IN SLD we have one Technical System for PI and one TS for R/3 System.
When I crating Business System for R/3 in R/3 TS, in Integration Tab what I have to select for Related Integration Server option.
It is having None and Business System of PI TS System.
Please help me in this.

Looks like you are defining this Business system as a Integration server.
See here is what you need to do.
Step 1:First of all create a business system for XI system itself,this business system will have details of XI system and its role will be Integration server.You can have only 1 Integration server(hence you are getting the error).
Step 2:Now define a business system of type Web as ABAP for R/3 system,this system will have role as Application system but the related integration server will be the name of the business system of PI system(the one which you defined in Step 1).
As of now,are you getting any business system name in the drop down box for related integration server while creating business system for R/3 in SLD?
If yes,then simply select that

Error in CRM box after executing client proxy

I checked the sm59 in CRM box. the RFC connection ( type 3) is configured for XI box (XI1CLNT100_RFC).
In SXMB_ADM of CRM box the correspoinding integration server is 'dest://XI1CLNT100_RFC'.

XI adapter uses HTTP connection.So create RFC destination with Connection type H and following parameters
1 Connection Type: H
2 Target Host: System name
3 Service Number: HTTP Port name
4 Path Prefix: /sap/XI/engine/?type=entry
On the Logon/Security tab page, enter the following logon data:
1 User: XIAPPLUSER (for example); this user should represent the sending business system (see also the SAP XI Security Guide under Service Users for Message Exchange).
2 Password: the password you have specified for this user
3 Client: SAP XI Integration server
4 Language: Language required
and use this HTTP destination in TA - SXMB_ADM configuration.

Integrated Configuration in PI 7.1

Hi All,
I am using 3 BAPIS at the receiving side out of which 1 BAPI will be picked as per the condition in the condition editor.
1.So,do I need to tick the "Sender Uses Virtual Receiver" check-box in the "Integrated Configuration" section
2.But when I go for creating the "Integrated Configuration"section without ticking the "Sender Uses Virtual Receiver" check-box ,
it gives me the error that it is already assigned to the object;conflicting direct connections,sender agreements,or integrated configurations are not permitted.
3.I have configured the Sender Agreement,Receiver Agreement before the "Integrated Configuration" section.So,what shall I do?Shall I tick the "Sender Uses Virtual Receiver" check-box in the "Integrated Configuration" section ?

Actually I am having the Process Order coming in the source with 5 to 6 relevant fields.Out of these Process Order fields Status is one of the fields.Based on the the StatuS field the BAPIs will be called at the receiver.So can I skip Integrated Configurations as I am imposing the condition on the data in the payload(Source Structure) as Integrated configuration will not be helpful in my scenerio.?
Or shall I skip Sender Agreement ,Receiver Agreement?
Also,in PI 7.1 Integration Directory there is one section as "Value Mapping Group".I suppose that it is used if and only if value mapping is used.But I am not using any kind of value mapping so can I skip that section?

Using MS-SQL Server tables to build Universes

My team has been tasked to create Universes so users can create WEBI reports. We don't have a business warehouse, but that appeared not to be a problem as our understanding is that we can create Universes directly from MS-SQL Server tables.
On attempting to use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (20005), we find that once we expand the list of tables for SAP performance slows down to a 5 to 10 second response time between mouse clicks.
Is there a setting to work around this? Are we approaching this the wrong way? Is there documentation that addresses this?

Hi Leo,
There are a couple of options which can help improve the performance of your designer.
1) Under tools, options on the graphics tab if you turn off the Show Row Counts, then the db will not be queried for the number of rows
2) Check tools, options general ensure Automatic parse upon defintion and check universe integrity at opening are checked off
It is not clear from your message, but you mentioned SAP as your source. I am not sure if you intended that you were connecting directly to SAP or not.
The number of tables can also have an impact of the performance of the designer tool. You can limit the number of tabels by tailoring a tables strategies. This means you can limit the query that returns the list of table to a specific set.

Derived tables with prompts - based universe

why can't I use derived tables with prompts - based universes on Dashboard Design 4.0? I mean I can add to Dashboard Design data coming from a universe like that but the prompts don't show in the query panel in Dashboard Design. Could it be becuase my universe was created first as an unv and then I transformed it to unx?

Basically, I have 2 classes based on physical tables:
Product (P); and
Time/Calendar (T/C).
Two classed based on derived tables:
Stock on Hand (SoH); and
Stock Movements (SM)
The derived tables SQL code selects (Quantity and Selling Price) from the SoH table and joins to the T/C table with conditions and a Where clause to restrict the data output to the last 2 months (the same applies to the SM derived table).
Example code below:
SELECT q.sm_table _no, q.tim_cal_no, q.quantity, q.selling_price
FROM    tim_cal_table p,
              sm_table q
WHERE q.tim_cal_no= p.tim_cal_no
AND        p.day between to_char(sysdate - 60,'DD/MON/YY') and to_char(sysdate - 1,'DD/MON/YY');
Now, the SoH table and the SM table are joined (in the universe schema) to the P table and T/C table using Primary Keys (which are shared by all the tables - physical and derived i.e. foreign keys on the SoH and SM tables used in the derived tables).
Now to answer your questions:
Do you get data in case you take objects only from derived table class?NO
Does the columns used to join physical table and derived table has matching values? YES. I mean to say is the join getting satisfied? YES. Checked Universe Integrity - structure, objects, joins, conditions, loops, context and cardinalities - everything is OK.
Adding to this, is the data type same for both the columns (on which join is set) or is there any typecasting required? YES - checked the data types of the primary/foreign keys that join the tables and they all match, except for one on the SM table - the foreign key has 6 set for precision (instead of 5 as per the other columns), however the data type is Numeric so this shouldn't be an issue.
