BOXIR3 and sybase 15

Hi,
I have some crystal reports published in BOEXIR3 and sybase ase 15 is the source. My reports have prompts and some time the reports works fine  but other time they failed. I can not schedule them either. Any body knows if XIR3 has connectivity problems with sybase ase 15? Also I have installed open client 15.
Thanks for your help.

  • PI 7.1 and Sybase integration

    Hi Gurus,
    Could any body post the procedure to integrate SAP PI and  Sybase. I am searching for these doucuments but could not find any.
    Please do the needful.

    integration between different databases are pretty much same procedure. You have to import jdbc driversfor the SYbase database and in the jdbc communication channel you have to reference the connection class. Creating data structure on the database side is pretty much same for all the databases.
    If you need any help on the configuration part, Please post your requirements further here.

    Does Oracle have Extended Stored Procedure like SQL Server and Sybase?

  • Can Oracle and Sybase Coexist on Sun Box ??

    Hello Everybody,
    I an trying to find out if Oracle and Sybase can coexist on same Sun Solaris box ??.
    I would really appreciate your help.
    Thanks,

    Definitely. Just be sure to set the kernel paramaters that are needed for each database. (ulimit for Sybase, ISM for Oracle (semaphores and shared memory)). Also be sure that your system has enough memory for the Oracle SGI and the Sybase caches, and that there is still enough for the OS to operate (which is dependent on platform, CPU count, and OS version).
    Good Luck,

  • Solaris 8 and Sybase 12

    Can anybody tell me if Sybase 12 is supported on Solaris 8. I have been looking at both the Sun and Sybase sites but can't seem to find this info. If anybody has come across it can you let me have the link

    12.5 is supported by the Oracle Migration Workbench so you should be fine with this.

  • WLS 5.1 with SP11 and Sybase connection pools

    I had posted back in January about an issue with WLS 6.1 and Sybase connection
    pools (see posts 12040 - 12043). This issue has now appeared in WLS 5.1 with
    SP 11. I have backed out SP11, but I'd take advantage of the clustering enhancements
    in this SP. Any suggestions? Would it be possible to get another one off patch
    for SP11?

    Could you fill me in as to what problem you were having. We are also using

    Solved this on my own, we need to create RFC Function module and Update/Modify data query in that when we need to update data in SAP tables.
    Connection is depends on RFC Function Module.
    Sample inbuilt RFC's in SAP :
    1. MAM30_011_GETLIST
    2. MAM30_011_GETDETAIL
    3. MAM30_011_CHANGE
    Connection Property we need to maintain in SAP connection in Sybase.
    Also We need Client Details, Server Machine Name, Connection IP and User Name and Password of User by Which we can test Connection.
    Thanks

  • What's going on with Project "Gateway" and Sybase?

    I've just returned from Teched in Berlin where I followed mostly the mobile track of sessions.
    I've come away alternately energised and confused. Each topic in its own right is clear, but piecing allthe components together is a different matter.
    Has anyone got opinions on the future role of project Gateway? I saw many sessions by Sybase on the SUP and only one which mentioned Gateway. Gateway didn't feature in the mobile strategy slides. However, I have seen material mentioning the future tie-up of the two. If this should happen, then how might they interact? And what future for the co-innovation platform?  Can we draw any conclusions on this yet?
    The instant value mobile apps session CD161 seems to build on top of the SAP Data Protocol (SDP), but thinking back, they didn't mention Gateway in there at all. And the co-innovation platform session was silent on both Gateway and SDP
    So does "Instant Value" equal "Project Gateway"? It can't be since the Sybase guys talk a lot about Instant Value. Are there two interpretations of this term within the organisation?
    Just hoping to kick off a general discussion on this subject. All opinions and replies welcome. Especially from insiders...
    Alex.

    Hi Steffan - good point. I kind of assumed that LMS is another term for Project Gateway... They seem to be addressing the same problem, and the architecture diagrams look qualitatively similar.  The CD121 Sybase slides also talk about the "SAP Mobile Connector", which might be yet another name for the same thing. I think you would know better than me since you've already built that thing you showed at the Demo Jam - what data consumption technology was your demo-ed app using?
    I get the impression that there have been a number of independent development streams within SAP which are only now being brought together. This manifests itself to us as mixed or incomplete messages. It's easy to see how at a teched, each group might be responsible for getting its own message out and not necessarily integrating into the overall message of the mobile strategy.
    So essentially there are two categories of mobile app inthe SAP vision:
    1. Instant Value  and
    2. Mission Critical.
    Then there are various methods of consuming SAP backend data from our mobile apps:-
    1. Netweaver mobile DOE (via co-innovation platform?)
    2. LMS
    3. Project Gateway
    4. Web services
    5. BAPIs (via JCA)
    (This is five methods, not four, which is another reason why I thought LMS and Gateway were the same thing).
    Then on top (or underneath?) of all this, you have to make a call on whether to make use of the SUP middleware and/or a security product like Afaria.
    So perhaps the most likely combinations look like:-
    Mission Critical apps with SUP ( + Afaria ) + DOE/Gateway
    or
    Instant Value apps with (LMS/Gateway or simply Web services/JCA)
    But if you have a LOT of Instant-value apps to build I guess your landscape could become complicated enough to justify the middleware too.
    Now please someone point out the flaws in this summary!
    Alex.

    I think that the problem is reletad to the fact that in italian we use  the comma "," for decimal separator.
    I tried to change the datastore language and code but nothing changed
    Can someone give me at least some clue to fix it?
    Thank you in advance and regards

    Hi Paul,
    I also had the same error on one of my servers, and it was because the user that created the database no longer worked for the company.
    So when his AD account got deleted, the database had NULL as owner
    Using the following query I asked for the owners of the databases:
    select name, suser_sname(sid) from master.dbo.sysdatabases
    So changing the owner of the databases that had a NULL owner solved the issue for me.
    use <databasesname>
    go
    exec sp_changedbowner 'sa'
    Thanks for triggering the solution.

  • Websphere and sybase

    I just deployed an EAR file onto my PC (Websphere studio 5.1). It looks fine. Almost jsp work fine, but those jsp connecting to Sybase dont work though I have jdbcdrv.zip already in lib.
    Errror is this: "Class com.sybase.jdbc.SybDriver" not found.
    Please help how to overcome this. Detailed instructions are much thankful.

    I tried to install jconn2.jar as follows: (n Websphere):
    Pop-Up on Project --> Properties-->Java build path-->Add external JARs--> then choose jconn2.jar from an outside folder then finish.
    It looks OK but it doesnot work. The error that I mentioned in previous email is still there.
    Anybody help pls. I am a newbie to this one. All jsp that dont relate to Sybase work well. Only jsps wth Sybase connection DONT.

  • Hana AND Sybase IQ

    Hi there
    Not sure if this is the right place where to post this question, but anyway. I'm well familiar with both technologies and have smth like 5+ years experience with IQ and a bit more than year with Hana. I read somewhere or saw the presentation that SAP is going to develop DWH solution where these 2 technologies will be merged as single one: HANA will take care of real time data and let's say 3 month roll-back of DWH data and IQ will store rest of data history, if my memory serves me well then this technology is being called Extended tables of Hana.
    Question: is there a documentation available which describes this process more in details, or even architectural approach etc?
    I understand that in future this is gonna be implemented in hana with few clicks, but at the moment i believe that extra supervision is needed, in case if it's possible at all!
    Mike

    Hi There,
    Please find the below text from the documentation:
    Description
    The CREATE EXTENDED STORAGE statement defines an external Sybase IQ database connection for the SAP HANA database. The Sybase IQ database will automatically be used to transparently archive and query data stored in extended tables. Only database users having the system privilege CREATE SOURCE or DATA ADMIN are allowed to create extended storage.
    Note: You need to create a extended storage configuration:
    You can create an extended table on extended storage
    CREATE TABLE T (C1 INT PRIMARY KEY, C2 DATE) USING EXTENDED STORAGE;
    You can create an delta-enabled extended table on extended storage
    CREATE TABLE T (C1 INT PRIMARY KEY, C2 DATE) USING EXTENDED STORAGE ENABLE DELTA

  • Connection error with Crystal Report XI, VB6 and Sybase ASE15

    Hello !
    I have an error #4002 when I want to launch a report in VB6 with the ActiveX Crystal Report Viewer.
    I use Sybase ASE 15 with an ODBC link and the reports run stored procedures.
    This error seems to be an authentification error, but I don't know what parameters are missing or wrong...
    - My reports works well in the report designer.
    - The reports connected to a text file or an ADO recordset work in VB6.
    - The Verify Database works in design mode in VB6.
    - The problem is the same with tables, stored procedures, SQL and with or without parameters...
    - I tried to connect the report to a DataEnvironnment but I get the same error.
    The problem appears when I use the Crystal Wizard to create a form automatically AND when I create objects directly in code like :
        Dim crapp As CRAXDRT.Application
        Dim oReport As CRAXDRT.Report
        Set crapp = New CRAXDRT.Application
        Set oReport = crapp.OpenReport("C:\myreport.rpt")
        CRViewer.ReportSource = oReport
        CRViewer.viewReport
    Please help !

    Hello,
    I don't see any database logon code in what you posted.  You need to log onto the database at runtime since Crystal Reports will never store passwords.
    You can download and review the [Connection Properties|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00635998-751e-2b10-9cba-f50ee1e4ef81] document for more information on how to log onto your database at runtime.  This document was written for CR9, but it's the same for CR10, CR XI (v11.0), and CR XI R2 (v11.5).
    I hope this helps.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

  • Java and Sybase nested stored procedures.

    Hi!
    I have nested Sybase stored procedures, the main procedure calls a helper stored proc.
    The main procedure returns 2 result sets before calling the helper store proc and helper store proc returns 1 resultset. After the helper store proc is called, the main store proc returns 2 more resultset. When I run it using SQL client tool the main procedure(and it's helper) execute well and returns rows.
    I need to call this store proc in a java code and display all the resultset in screen. I am using Statement:execute(<exec sp>) to execute the store proc and then statement.getResultSet() to get each resultset. The loop is controlled by statement.getMoreResults() .
    It displays the first 2 resultsets from main Store Proc. Then the control goes to helper store proc. It executes the helper store proc and displays the resultset from helper. But then it stops there and doesnot
    come back to main store proc to execute the remaining resultset.
    What I suspect is that, the statement object is getting overlaid when the call goes to helper proc.
    Any idea as to how to code to handle multiple nested resultset ?
    ~ RNS.
    My Sybase stored procedure code looks like -
    =======================================================================
    create procedure main_proc
    @param1 int
    as
    select getdate()
    select @@servername
    declare @return_val int
    exec proc2 @param1, @return_val out
    select myCol1,
    myCol2,
    myCol3=@return_val
    from mytable
    select db_name()
    ===========================================================================
    Sybase Code for proc2
    create procedure proc2
    @param1 int,
    @param2 int out
    as
    begin
    if something exists(select * from table where whereClause)
    select @param2="TRUE"
    else
    select @param2="FALSE"
    select getdate()
    end
    go
    GRANT EXECUTE...
    EXEC sp_procxmode 'dbo.proc2,'unchained'
    go
    ====================================================================
    Code snippet :-
    do {
    int iit=0;
    rs=stmt.getResultSet();
    if ( rs != null ) {
    ResultSetMetaData rsd = rs.getMetaData();
    int nocols = rsd.getColumnCount();
    for (int i=1; i<=nocols; i++)
    System.out.println(rsd.getColumnName(i)));
    while (rs.next())
    for (int i=1; i<=nocols; i++)
    System.out.println(rs.getString(rsd.getColumnName(i));
    } while (stmt.getMoreResults());

    I'm not 100% sure about this, but my guess is that this is caused by the TDS protocol (used by Sybase). TDS makes no difference between the stored procedure you are calling and the "inner" stored procedure, so the driver just returns update counts and result sets as they are generated, regardless of who generated them.
    Another guess (as I don't know what driver you are using) is that execute() returns the first result (update count or ResultSet), as opposed to executeQuery(), which returns the first ResultSet (probably discarding the update count). You can make sure of this by calling getMoreResults(); you should get your ResultSet at some point.
    Alin.
