BP ESS for R/3 4.7 Enterprise backend

Hi Experts,
I have an EP 6 installation on WEBAS 6.40 and I am trying to install the ESS BP compatible with R/3 4.7 Enterprise. I have downloaded BPESS46C504_0-20000613.ZIP from SAP Service Martketplace. While trying to import the content of the ZIP file in to the portal using System Administration -> Transport -> Import. Now when I click on the Browse button to select the package.pkg file it just redirects me back to the Portal Content page. The same thing happens when I try to click on the Client radio button the browser redirects me back to the Portal home page. Has anyone encountered the same problem/issue ESS BP for 4.7?

I'd have to agree with Stuart, there are really very few cases where it would be worth doing this ALE set up - the only one that I can think of is you have many other functions - finance, logistics, etc on your existing 4.7 R/3 system and they are so heavily customised that moving to ECC6 is not an option for them in the short term and you have some very influential person who insists that you must go to a new ESS immediately....
Even then I'd be telling them to hold off and upgrade the whole lot at once.
Another alternative if you really like the look of Web Dynpro - is to develop your own ESS services (don't try to backport the standard ones it would be an immense effort for little gain) in your portal and just have them connect to your 4.7 system - that's doable.
Given that the whole look and feel of ESS is about to be given a shake up with the move from WD Java to WD ABAP - I'd not be even attempting to copy the WD Java ESS.
Bide your time and go for the upgrade...

Hello to all SAP HR experts,
i am now doing a project on SAP ERP HCM and would like to learn more about the things and steps i need to do to come up with a ESS for Training and Event Management. I have an account for SAP Netweaver and able to access Enterprise Portal (EP). Do i require to navigate in EP to use the items there or do i need to set up an adobe interactive form using SAP Netweaver Developer Studio, design the flow at Visual Studio(VC), then link all the VC at Guided Procedure? If that's the case how am going to extract the data which i have configured in the IMG path under Training and event mgmt (TEM) and also SAP Learning Solution(LSO)?
For an example: I have created Training Event Groups, Training Event Types and Courses. If i want to so a paperless ESS, how can i extract all this into the fields which i have designed in my adobe interactive form.
Please help me and guide me along

There are 2 end user possibilities for Learning
One is PV7I and PV8I ITS services which are part of an old ESS role and can be used as integrated ITS versions
any ESS role via HpF or called directly via URL (without a Portal) - this will allow users to book course and events and view/change bookings etc
The other is Business Package for Learning 1.0 which requires a Portal (and other LSO dependancies to run)
this provides a wider range of Learning based activities including booking etc

Problem with Family members/dependents screen in ESS for Switzerland countr

Hi All,
We are checking standard Fmaily Members/dependents screen in Personal Information under ESS for switzerland and screen doesn't have some fields compared to what we see in pa30 for the same country.if we check for other countries ess portal screen and pa30 screen look similar.when we check switzerland country specific webdypro component layout is different from pa30 and some of the fields are missing.
why is this inconsistency with only switzerland country and is there any note available for this

Unfortunately you have to, But since the fields are available in backend, It can be easily be made visible in the front end
changing the properties of the field
Do make sure you raise a development request if this indeed required by the customer, You can raise a OSS for it, But I am afraid answer wont be encouraging

Unable to do usermapping for the group in the Enterprise portal

Hi All,
I am unable to do usermapping for the group in the Enterprise portal.
The system connection is maintained, with the user management as UIDPW and user,admin.
User mapping is possible with my user but not for a <b>group</b>.
Please suggest.

The new Business Volume Purchase Program is pretty interesting...it can be used to centrally purchase and distribute paid ( not free) items from the AppStore. We are getting setup to use it. You can keep an eye on licenses etc. You can also use a single centralized form of payment.

If you are using ESS for ERP2004 BP, have you deployed the XSS WebDynpro Components (PCUI100, ESS, MSS .SDAs) to your J2EE Engine?

ESS for Infotype 2002

As we are using ESS for attendance, so whenever an employee makes a clock in & out correction from portal it should automatically update in Infotype 2002-Attendance, which is not happening. So please suggest a solution its urgent.

Yes, your right system evaluate time business based on Time events also. Some tipical clients based on booking attendance only they will calculate different payments with integration of Other modules i.e CO, PM, CS and SD etc. In this kind of business process they (Clients) will consider Time events just monitoring purpose. Employee/Time Admin needs to update along with project/activity type/ WBS element etc along with Attendance throgh Time manager Work place/CATS/ESS/MSS.
Who has post this threat has asked required to update IT2002 also.. Please go through Starting onwards..As contributor i (We) need to provide Information relating to Business process without unnecessary discusions Becasue it would be useful for Others who are facing same kind of issues in future.

ESS for travel management

Hello Gurus ,
Pls help me with this : Is there a logic in ESS for travel management that allows for substitutions like in MSS (i.e. a manager goes on vacation, and needs someone else to approve expense reports in his place ) , does similar logic holds place in ESS when Employee wants to create Travel Expense Report and et al activities for other employee .
Can this be done in ESS Portal ?

ESS For Personnel Adminstration

Hi SAP Experts,
Can anyone help me on this ESS part where i am working very first time on this.
Customer using ESS for leave and appraisal things. currently they have requested us to activate the IT0002,IT0006 where employee can see those details in ESS
Currently they don't have this functionality in ESS, they look over their personal details in R/3 Itself
But Customer requesting us to activate it, the should see their own information and addresses part in portal.
Can anyone guide me how to achieve this functionality. is it too tough to get it what is the functional part here? i also take this a learning tool for me if SAP experts help me.

SAP has given a standard application in this case for the employee to view his own personal information.Which enhancement package you are in ??? if you are in EHP5 and above then you can make use of this Personnel profile application and for this you have to maintain the table V_T7XSSPERSUBTY.

ESS for R/3 4.6C on new NetWeaver Portal -- deployment fails!

Hi ESS Experts,
We're having problems deploying the older BP for ESS R/3 4.6C to our Netweaver Portal. Our Software Deployment Manager canu2019t install the file. Normally, BPs are .sca files but the BP for ESS 4.6C is a .zip file. We can manually rename the .zip to .sca, which is then shown in the SDM but the deployment always fails.
How can we install this BP for ESS 4.6C on our newer SAP NW Portal used for our BW system?

Have you tried to unzip the file and identify the required deployment files?
Further to this -->
If you go to /swdc it states BP ESS 4.6C-4.7 50.4 (no longer in maintenance) - this product is no longer in
mainstream maintainence
Also there are no guarantees that 46C products will work with Enterprise Portal versions from other SAP product families
e.g NW 700 with ESS 46C
If you have extended maintainence for 46C perhaps you could open a CSS/OSS message in component BC-CTS-SDM
to investigate why the installation fails and whether there is any workaround

How to configure a custom link in ESS for LTA?

I have a requirement to display a pop-up alv report, once user click on a link "Leave_Details" in ESS. I am able to display pop-up alv but background screen is empty as its a separate WD application however I want that as soon as user selects any row from that popup alv it should be fetched and displayed on the LTA screen of Portal. It seems link is not configured so its displaying blank background screen while for other standard links this screen is displayed.
Kindly help in this how we can display a custom link in ESS and after fetching any single record it should be closed and single row would be displayed in LTA screen.
Here the background ESS screen is blank for custom link displaying this pop-up alv.
For other standard links ESS screen is displaying.

Thanks for your reply however here I am not asking how to create popup, it has already created however my question is, how to configure the link used to display that popup alv?
As shown in the screen as soon as user clicks on the given link shown in below screenshot this popup is displayed,
and after clicking on this link, below screen is displayed
Here background screen is empty whereas it should display the ESS screen in the background, so as soon as user select any row from the popup alv, i'll pass the data into ESS screen using BADI.
Kindly revert with possible solution.
