BPA Suite & ARIS Audit Manager

Hi all,
I’m looking for information about integration of BPA Suite and ARIS Audit Manager. Is this possible or ARIS AM only works with ARIS Business Designer?
Thanks in advance.

In fact, what i posted in the message is in the server.log file, other log file that have information is adminagent_server.log and have this:

  • Scope of simulation in BPA suite

    Hi,
What is the scope of simulation in BPA suite.
    * If we provide processing time and/or cost involved in each fuctional lock, then while simulation, we can get an analysis based on this.
    * Simulation can identify few weak points in your business process. But how is a weak point identified. Any rule available for this?
Apart from this what is the significance of Simulation in BPA. Can it provide any other useful inference or suggestion, that can help improving the process.
    Thanks,
    Vishnupriya

    Hi Vishnupriya,
"how do we find the critical path using BPA suite." You can perform a cost and/or a time analysis - it depends on your preferences. A disadvantage of the cost analysis is, that the cost attributes can only be defined for functions. It is not possible to specify relation-dependent costs (e.g. different costs if a function is performed by a manager or a clerk). Below I am concentrating on a time analysis.
    a) Identify bottlenecks
After you performed the simulation you need to analyse the statistics. Each object type has its own simulation attributes - check the help section under "What simulation-relevant object types exist" to get further information. For comparison the following categories/attributes are very useful indicators to identify bottlenecks:
    * Processes (cumul.): Created processes, Completed processes, Process folders in static wait state and Process folders in dynamic wait state
    * Events (cumul.): Activations
    * Functions (cumul.): Process folders in dynamic wait state
    * Processes (det.): Throughput time (min.), Throughput time (max.)
Hint: Increasing throughput times, high dynamic wait time sums and a high degree of utilization (for human resources) are indicators of bottlenecks.
    b) Identify modeling faults
E.g.: If you have a gateway in your model and the "Process folders received" is always equal to "Process folders waiting" it means that the gateway cannot be passed. Normally it indicates a deadlock situation and you should check that each split in your model is properly joined. The issue can also be considered at the "Degree of activation", which will be equal to zero. Use the semantic check to ensure that your model-format is correct.
"how to do this comparison"Compare the relevant attributes (times, costs) of your As-Is and To-Be models. You have several options to perform the comparison:
    a) create charts of both simulation runs
    b) check the simulation statistics of both simulation runs
    c) use the ARIS report functionality or create a user-defined report to extract the simulation results
    Best regards,
    Danilo

  • BPA and ARIS comparison!

    Hi,
I am not sure is it fair to compare the two since BPA suite is built on the Aris platform.
After looking at the features Oracle BPA suite is providing, I was wondering what does it provide that Aris doesn't? I have not seen the Aris tool yet, but from the discussions I have seen that it provides most of the functionality that Oracle BPA does.
Also the BPA suite is still not complete in the offering. Instead of using the Oracle BPA suite with Aris Simulator, why not use the Aris tools completely.
Or is it that the future enhancements in the BPA suite would be more helpful in the Oracle 'model'.
It would be very useful if someone could provide me the differences between Oracle suite and the ARIS products.
    Thanks,
    Sashwat

    Hello Sheila,
this is off course a very important question. To give you an idea how we proceed with these issue. We are using IDS ARIS for more than 12 years now in various projects. Additional we are a heavy Oracle user (advantage partner with CAB seat) for almost 15 years. Due to this combination we are using the tools of both vendors in parallel for a long time.
As you can imagine we were very happy about the decision form Oracle to move a little bit closer towards ARIS in the field of BPM. So we started an analysis to set up a “small” decision table how to proceed with existing ARIS stuff when it comes to the decision you are facing right now.
The main dimensions you have to keep in mind are:
    Methodology
The ARIS and BPA Suite methodology is about 98% the same. Form a first look at it this seams to be very close. Most of the time that is true for the relevant use cases. But when it come to specific things regarding BPMN, SAP and BPM related modelling there are some differences where it is worth taking a closer look.
BPMN: there are some differences between the IDS BPMN (not OMG compliant) and the ORACLE BPMN (for the time being also not OMG compliant but moving in the right direction).
SAP: almost every SAP related content has been moved from the methodology (no wonder :-) ). But if you are using something of this stuff a migration will cause some additional methodological work.
BPM: the BPM modelling within the BPA Suite requires a slightly different approach than the BPM approach followed by ARIS. This is not generally a problem, but when you have a lot of ARIS models there is some refractory work required as well. This is especially required because you have to separate the business content strictly from the IT (automation) content (see my other posts regarding this topic). If you don’t do this carefully you will have tremendous problems with the life cycle management of your models. The genuine IDS approach of modelling does not cover this!!! So take a closer look at your approach there!!!
    Technology
In this dimension you have to check the IDS products you are using (or planning to use in the future). For the time being there is no connection between an ARIS and an BPA repository possible. This might change in the future but you should at least take it in to consideration.
But I can give you a light “all clear” signal here:
If you are already using ARIS products not covered by the BPA Suite: do some closer analysis
If you aren’t using other ARIS products: don’t worry – most of the things can be addressed by better products with (partly) already existing interfaces – some of them by Oracle
There are a few minor things relevant but in general that are the major things you have to look at.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional help

  • Is there training for tool BPA Suite?

    Hello,
I am a Process Analyst and I am studying the features of the tool BPA.
I wonder if there are training to learn the features of the tool in practice?
Can I use the BPA without integration with BPEL for example?
I need to understand the concept of the tool and any structure that exists for integration.
I have installed the BPA Suite and I am doing some tests, but I can not develop in more detail, I need a training or a guide with more details.
    Please, somebody help me?
    Tanks
    Daniela

    hi
yes u can use BPA without integration with BPEL.
You might want to to go to the demo database and look how the modeling is done ... read the Quick start guide ... also the method manual for understanding ARIS House and model types etc..
May be u have gone through the following steps .. just see if you have these done:
    Install Architect
    Open architect:
    Go to explorer
right click on the network symbol and add a server (if you have repository installed somewhere ( give the ip of that server))
if you dont have a repository then go to local server
right click on server and create a new database
default user is system and default password is manager.... chose the method filter as entire method (method fiters define what is available in terms of symbols, connection types etc to the logging user ..)
right click on the main folder create folders of ur choice .... right click on folders to create a new models ... there are several model types ..most popular one is an eventdriven process chain .. EPC... (go to help...then methods to understand the different model types....)
if you create a new model it opens up in designer... do take time out to understand concept of occurrence, variant and definition objects, models....
there are several ways BPA can be used ... its up to ur imagination how u want to use it...
these steps are very basic and .. there are thousands of other things you can do with BPA...... just read through the methods manual first ..

  • Confusion about BPM suite and BPA suite

    Hi,
I'm very very new to Oracle BPM.
I just checked the website and found Oracle provides two suites - BPM and BPA for business process management. I'm quite confused what's the difference of their usage? It looks to me that they are very similar to each other in functional.
Is there any article that has already explained their difference?
btw: if i want to choose a suite just for modeling, implementation and monitoring purpose, does that mean a BPM suite is more suitable?
    Thank you
    Lesley

    Hi Lesley,
BPA is an robust process modeling tool used by business analysts to model both their processes and the entire enterprise. BPA has many different types of diagrams that let you see the different levels of decomposition and abstraction. As you'd exect, BPA has a robust process simulation capability. If you hit the BPA forum (Business Process Analysis Suite you'll get more information about it from experts in BPA.
Oracle BPM was built and architected from the beginning as full life cycle Business Process Management (BPM) tool. It is similar to BPA in that it supports process modeling, documentation and simulation. I use the same diagram to explain the process to executives, managers, IT, SME and business analysts. As a business analyst, the tool is not complicated and can be learned in just a couple hours.
Here's where the two differ. Oracle BPM was architected from the beginning as a full featured Business Process Management tool that implements and monitors business processes. Its capabilities include:
<li> Logic - BPA is not a BPM tool so it is not intended to support the process logic needed for runtime. To support this, Oracle BPEL is used in conjunction with BPA. As a developer using Oracle BPM, I use templates and drag and drop to create much of my logic. Once I catalog an object it can be reused across multiple projects either by using the Project Dependency option or by importing the artifacts. I test my logic either by using the method editor debugger or at the process level. As I create objects used in my logic using Oracle BPM, I inherit attributes provided by introspected components. This means that if you have an ERP system object with 138 attributes, you do not have to rebuild this object from scratch in Oracle BPM.
<li> Runtime / Execute the Business Processes - End users interact with the processes at runtime using an OOTB Workspace. End users are given various roles. When they log into the Workspace, the end users only see the work item instances that are in the roles that they have been assigned. There is an Engine that stores the work item instance information as it flows through the processes at runtime. The Engine is like a traffic cop, ensuring that the right work item instance goes to the right person in the right activity at the right time.
<li> UI - The End user interface screens and complex end user interaction with a variety of screens can be built inside the Oracle BPM toolset's editor. The forms you build are automatically presented to end users in the Workspace.
<li> Integration to Existing IT Assets - Oracle BPM can expose and consume IT components directly or through a service bus. Once consumed, the components can be used by any process needing to invoke them at runtime.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • OID and BPA Suite (publisher module) Compatibility?

I'd like to know if BPA Suite Publisher can use the OID/SSO as user repository and provide security.
Our idea is to publish this module through Oracle Portal.
    Best regards.

  • BPA Suite Installation problems

    Hi all,
i installed Oracle BPA Suite in my laptop with XP to make some proofs of concept. So, first i installed the Oracle 10gR2 database and due my laptop uses an ip address assigned by dhcp, first i had to activate the loopback interface with a fixed address (192.168.1.1), a kind of address like the db documentation recommends. Also, i added a line in my hosts file like the following:
    192.168.1.1 NTBTEAJESPINOZA.sigfe.local
After that i completed the installation process for the BPA Suite.
Once the installation finished, i had to modify two configuration files ArisLauncher.cfg and AdminAgentLauncher.cfg, appended the ip address to the agent profile options, like this:
    <Profile name="Agent" port="17053" threadpoolsize="20" options="&#45;&#45;host 192.168.1.1">
    </Profile>
After that i launched the Oracle BPA Repository, which show me that run without problems. The log file shows this information:

  • Functionalty depth of BPA Suite(demo)

    Hi,
I want to know the functionality depth of BPA suite, in laymans terms. Actually I am looking to design my organisations' all exsisting operational processes, interlink them, assign stakeholders and then deploy them to be visible to organisational heads to be reviewed. Currently i'll do this using the demo version and once organisational heads are able to see something, i am sure i'll be able convince them to get a buy this piece of software. But the question is will i'll be able to do all this using the demo version, is the demo version capable of all this?
    Thnx in advance

    Hi,
most of it can be done with the actual demo version. You can:
    - design you processes (I would recommend the diagram types Value Chain Diagram and EPC + Functional Allocation Diagrams)
    - to link them together on a horizontal level use the "Process Interface" Object within the EPC
    - to link them together on a vertical level use the assignment functionality
    - to express stakeholders first create an organizational chart diagram as library and then reuse the objects of this library within the dynamic models (Value Chain, EPC and FAD)
Regarding the review, the demo does not provide the publishing component yet. So it is not possible to create a web like export out of your model.
    Two possible workarounds
    a) Install the BPA suite for everyone who should review the output. Then you can use the build in "review function" of the BPA. This is a nice feature to give feedback on diagrams
    b) Create printed output. Due to the fact that the BPA is only delivered with standard reports the look and feel is mostly not usable for management purposes. So you might have the need to develop your own report (possible with the demo version but you need BPA scripting know how)

  • BPA Suite, Oracle XE, can't Create DB

For some reason, now I can't create new databases from within the BPA Suite nor the admin tool. I was able to create a db before, as well as import the Sample, Getting started backup. It appears as if 'part' of the db is created, but not enough to login with - I get a generic error when logged in as system in the BPA Tool itself, select the server, right-click new... I can open, close, backup, save whatever in the existing database.
From the admintool in interactive mode, I get the following java exceptions.
Any idea what to check next? In the database itself, it appears as if there is plenty of room in the databases (via apex, view tablespaces), although the system ts is full, not sure if that matters.
    ARISBPDATA     2.29%     1,024.00     23.50     1
    ARISBPINDEX     2.22%     1,024.00     22.75     1
    BPADATATS     2.40%     1,024.00     24.56     1
    BPAINDEXTS     1.57%     1,024.00     16.06     1

    thanks for any tips

Well, in the case of the eval 11g the server is embedded with the BPA Suite and/or is simply Oracle XE. I had restarted both of these and since it is Windows, I restarted Windows too. Nothing worked.
So, I ended up exporting (well, backing up) those "databases" that I wanted and reinstalled everything. That, too, was quite the experience. At least the eval copy of this is not consistent in behavior (seems the version on the server changes daily, although I couldn't get the latest one to install, reverted to a saved version of the download), the install does not work consistently and even worse, when the install fails there are no such indications... it all looks just fine (in my case, attempts to use non-default tablespaces did not work, the log file indicated a bad login without any details on what really failed, yet install didn't say a thing)...
Based solely on my experience with the eval copy, if it were up to me, I would not use this product at all. You may have other experiences, but the lack of current and correct documentation along with inconsistent behavior makes the administration of this tool a guessing game...even restoring the database that I had backed up failed the first time (couldn't login), but I could delete it, and attempted again and it worked that time. Just very poor error messages (as in none), and inconsistent behavior doesn't lead to trusting this very much, if at all.

  • Price of BPA Suite to Individual Developer

    Hello,
I am a new JDeveloper user and would like to work on adding BPMN and BPEL to my personal skill set. I was just getting ready to install the BPA Suite when I noticed that there is a 90 time limit on the developer version. I was wondering if anyone could give me a "ballpark estimate" as to the price of the BPA Suite if I want to just use it on a single box for my own personal use.
    Thanks,
    Bob Scott

    Hi,
most of it can be done with the actual demo version.

  • New Text Field To Be Added in Audit Management

    Hi All,
I need to create new text fields in addition to the existing fields in Audit Management screen for all the audit components in the TEXT TAB in transaction PLMD_AUDIT.
I would like to know is it possible or not and if not possible then what is the alternate way to include more inofrmation.
    Will be rewarded...
    Regards,
    Ram.

    Hi Ram,
New text field can be added in the texts tab of plmd_audit transaction  is achieved by ,
    1) The following entries has to be maintained in the view V_TTXIDI Object, Id, Meaning.
    Object-select cgpl_text
Id : you need to define(this id you will refer in the initial value of the attribute in the BADI-name of your text field).
Meaning : short description of your BADI.
save your entries & activate it.
    2) Implement this BADI "PLM_AUDIT_TEXT_ID"
within the method "GET_TEXT_IDS" we need add our code for adding the new text fields.Within this method the code for standard text fields would be existing.
    3) In the attributes tab of the ZCL_DEF_IM_PLM_AUDIT_TEXT_ID -class interface ,you need to pass the initial value, which has been defined in the view "V_TTXIDI".
    4) Finally activate your BADI.The newly added text fields would be available in the PLMD_AUDIT tcode.
    Hope this solves your requirement.
    Regards,
    Keerthi

  • ARIS - Solution Manager synchronization limitations

    Hello,
I made simple demo and I noticed that there are several limitations in ARIS<->Solution Manager synchronization. Could You explain me some issues or tell how to solve them, that would be very helpful.
    1. When I make model in SolMan and then import it to ARIS I have all elements and connections between them, but when I make changes to this model in ARIS, ex. Adding new element with connection, and export it back to Solman I have my old model with new element but without connection. Could you tell me how to export connections from ARIS to SolMan? What I might do wrong?
    2. Where SolMan keeps all data about connetions between elements?
    3. How can I do tree connection in ARIS (one element is connected to more than one element) and then import them to SolMan?
If You have any tutorials or documents about ARIS in SAP, please sent them to me, I will be grateful for Your help.

    Hi Pawel Tomasik,
What you identified is correct. The connections are not syncronised with SAP Solution Manager. If you have Busienss Publisher avaliable in your organisation you can sync in such a way that the Process Model link is added as a documnet in Solution Manager.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Dinesh Ghanta

  • Audit Management in ECC 6.0

Can anybody Know How to use Audit Management In ECC 6.0,My Client Want To Audit Managament linking with Quality Mangament ,please Guide me if Anybody Know About this

Audit management is a tool to manage internanal audits like ISO 9000 etc.
The steps involved in Audit management are as follows.
    Create/Approve/Release Auditplan.
    Create Audit
Create question list and assign question list to Audit plan.
(Ex: Audit plan is created for production dept to meet the expectations of ISO 9000
then cluase 4.X relavent to production dept check list items can be made as question list and assign to the Audit plan)
    Now Execute audit
Create CAPA (corrective and preventive action) Execute CAPA close CAPA (NCs)
