Hello Experts,
My client has some questions around unified environment.Please help me understand it better
1) If we have a bpc model exactly same in classic environment and an unified environment,Will the model in unified environment be faster in performance.If yes then why so?
2)How difficult will be to migrate the development from a classic environment to unified environment?Will it be a total new development or there is a migration tool?
3)I understand that bpc script is replaced by fox script? Is the fox script ready to use or it will come in future?
4) Will the foxscript be faster than bpc script?
5) Will the reports run faster in unified environment?

Thanks for your inputs.Based on your comments and from other posts, I have noted down the Key Differences between BPC Classic and Unified Version.Please let me know in case I have missed something or needs any correction

Dear All,
Have a cube(Unified) created in BW 7.4.
To create an input form using that cube(unified), Is it mandatory that I need a BEx query for the input form/report?
i.e. To create an input form/report in BPC 10.1 Unified environment using a Unified model, is it a MUST to have a BEx query in place? Or, can I create an input form using 10.1 Unified model without BEx query using 10.1 Unified model?

Hi Peri,
It doesn't matter what you include in the rows and what in columns or free characteristics: think of it as a sub-cube of the original cube. You are basically listing Dimensions you need in a group of you reports and can add new measures.
In BPC report you'll arrange them on the screen, format, protect, etc.
So, some of it is a repeat (not all tho), but for different purposes.

Error while adding owner property in nw bpc 10.1 unified model

Hi,
currently we are working on NW BPC 10.1 unified model.
while adding owner property in BW system for work status we are getting below error.
"Characteristic owner is not mapped to any attributes in the SAP HANA model."
Please suggest us where to add this owner property.

we applied that note.
We have few doubts while creating work status and BPF.
Our dimension is /ERP/COSTCNTR, so we have added ZPERF and ZREV attributes in ZCOSTCNTR and we have implemented BADI BADI_RSBPCB_SETUSER (enhancement spot RSBPCB_SETUSER).
My doubt is while creating ZCOSTCNTR infoobject do I need to take a copy of /ERP/COSTCNTR? I am getting short dump while doing this.

Note : My SAP system is AWS free server of AS ABAP 7.4 SP5 incl. BW on SAP HANA SP7,it will get BPC 10.1 unified version by default or not.if it will get how i will access.
We have done chapter 2 and 3 every thing in installation guide, but EPM add-on didn't installed.
IN SICF that services i didn't find out.is there any other post steps for getting this services.so please help me.

Is there any alternative way to add Comments feature to BPC 10.1 Unified model?

I understand that BPC 10.1 Unified model does NOT support Comments. Is there any way we can add comments capability? Any help on this would be appreciated.
I believe Comments are an important feature for both - Planning and Consolidation applications. There should be an alternative way to do this.

What version of CUCM are you using? Have you considered the free Informacast version that you get with 9+?

BPC 10.1 Unified vs Classic Model

Dear BPC Friends
Which are the benefits to implement the unified model to justify the additional cost due to the implementation of SAP Hana?
If we decide to implement the unified model we could have the possibilities immediately to implement the currency conversion and in the future the intercompany elimination using the business rule of consolidation?

Issue with Work status in SAP BPC 10.1 Unified Model

Hi Everyone,
I am are tying to setup work status functionality in SAP BPC 10.1 Unifed Model. But I am not getting any dimesions to select in the Owner dimension dropdown in the BPC Web Admin.
Is there any pre-requiste for setting up work status in Unified Model. Is there any document related to it? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Hi Ramanathan,
Had the same problem when I began using 10.1 Embedded.
In BW you need to identify which infobject will be used as the "Owner Dimension" to control work status, access, etc.
To this infobject you must add an attribute to contain the string (userid in BPC) of the owner. The name of the infobject can be anything.
I used 0ORGUNIT as the "Owner Dimension" control infobject and added attribue ZBPCOWNR. I maintained ZBPCOWNR with the userid's.
This is the value to be entered into Owner Property:
HOWEVER, this will not be presented until the Owner Dimension contorlling infobject has a HIERARCHY! The hierarchy must have at lease one leaf node.
Once I added the attribute, maintained the attribute, and added the hierarchy I was presented with my choices in the dropdown boxes.

BPC 10.1 Unified - error when selecting a planning function

Hi BPC experts,
configured planning function in BW-IP.
Opened EPM Add-in, went to data processing tab to look for the planning function, Found it but when tried to select the function got the following:
epm error: object reference not set to an instance of an object
I did some research and it seems that this error seem to appear for multiple reasons so I am just wondering if anyone seen this error in this context.
tested it further with as many planning functions I found in BW and got this error message every single time.

BPC 10.1 - dump in unified model when I try to open System Reports

Hi, we use BPC 10.1 unified and every time when try to use "System Reports" it dumps. I can select e.g. BPF Activity Report and Templates -> Template Verions -> Instances and finally "Display Report" but there is no result besides the endless loading screen. Is there a certain web Service that has to be activated first? Thx for any hint

Which connection type did you use in EPM Add-in? Please take a look at note 2002609 - RUBPC101N: EPM connection error message: No connection
extension has been discovered for the ConnectionClass 'Firefly_BW' . It might resolve your issue.

My company is currently running a BPC 5.1 MS environment and will soon be upgrading to version 7.0 MS. I was wondering if there is a white paper or some guidance that anyone can give with regard to the best practice for managing a BPC environment. Which brings to light several questions in my mind:
1. Which department(s) in a company should u201Cownu201D the BPC application?
2. If both, whatu2019s SAPu2019s recommendation for segregation of duties?
3. What roles should exist within our company to manage BPC?
4. What type(s) of change control is SAPu2019s u201CBest Practiceu201D?
We are currently evaluating the best way to manage the system across multiple departments, however there is no real business ownership in the system, which seems to be counter to the reason for having BPC as a solution in the first place.
Any guidance on this would be very much appreciated.

Questions on SAP BPC 10.1

Dear Friends,
I have some basic questions as below, could you please answer?
1) Can we create Excel Reports from Excel interface (EPM Add-in)?
2) Once we create the Unified model, can we see this unified model in BW? as a cube?
3) How to make Unified model in to Auditable status? Currently my unified model is showing RED dot under Auditable status. Will it show GREEN if its Auditable ?
4) I am trying to create Input Template. I have navigated through "LIBRARY"-->"Input Forms" and then I have given input form name and Model name. But the "next" button is disabled because..its shows empty "No Data" for Name: and InforProvide. Its has "Search", "History", "All" options.
What should I do here?
5) Can we write a Script logic / BADI to perform a calculation in Unified model? Do we have Data Manager Packages in 10.1?
6) How give Security access like Task Profiles, Member access profiles?

New GL or BPC

What is the best way forward - to 1st implement New GL and then Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) or if BPC is implemented 1st, what will the impact be once the New GL is activated?

Hello,
BPC is a detached environment and you do not have any link with your ECC.
You can go and activate your New GL Accounting. To activate New GL, BPC is not a pre-requisite. To activate BPC, New GL is not a pre-requisite.

802.1x with PEAP fails on Unified

We have an issue with a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Laptop. It uses 802.1x with dynamic WEP and PEAP-MSCHAP (MS-IAS), Verisign Imported Certificate. It works fine in a Autonomous environment but fails in Unified environment. Other laptops work fine in both environments with the same setup. Debug on the WiSM shows the EAP request identity/start message send to the client. But there's no answer from the client; Reached Max EAP-Identity Request retries (21) for STA
Any help is welcome!

If the issue is with the certain brand of laptop, look at the wireless card firmware. What type of card are in these laptops? What configuration has changed between the Autonomous and the LWAPP (basic settings). What does the log show on the IAS server?

Appropriate addressing (subnet separation) for Unified Wireless Infrastructure components.

Good day all,
I am looking for some advice on appropriate IP subnet separation of the various Cisco Unified Wireless Infrastructure components. For example, would all components go on their own firewall secured IP subnets? Can some of the components be grouped together, would there be a performance advantage to that vs a security risk? Just so I am clear, the components I am referring to are WLC, ISE, MSE, and PRIME Infrastructure.
The environment for context is Unified environment, all components are centralized in a single DC (datacenter) but soon to be two DCs. 5508 controllers, 2504 controllers, 3495 security appliances, and 3300 series MSEs. The deployment model for now is (from the BYOD CVD) Basic Guest with two SSIDs (corporate and guest) and using a guest anchor in a internet DMZ.

It really varies, but it comes down to the basic.... security policy for the devices. I usually keep the AP's in it own subnet, the WLC in the same subnet as the switches and the MSE and PI in the server subnet. Wireless will always be on its own subnet and guest, like you have, will be tunneled into its own subnet in the DMZ. Internal wireless should be separate subnet from your wired side.
