BPC 5.1 Performance and Dashboards

Hi:
I have BPC 5.1 Installation and cannot find the Performance feature installed.
I have seen this in Demo VMware which is located at http://<<server>>/osoft/performance/default.aspx.
I could not find this and when I checked my server installation I do not have performance folder in my web directory.
Is there a separate installation for performance and dashboards?
Thanks,
Subramania

I asked this question of product support a few months ago, and received the following response.
Response (Alexandru Berindei) 12/06/2007 08:19 AM
Tim,
I am sorry to say but it is not part of the product, it is technically a prototype/custom solution. It will not be supported in 5 nor become part of the commercial product.

  • Performance Management Dashboard (PMD) -- BPC 5.1 & SQL 2005?

    Hi all,
Here's a good question:  The Performance Management Dashboard (PMD), is a main part of the Sales & Demonstration cycle, but it doesn't appear to actually be a standard part of BPC 5.1...
Has anyone tried to enable the PMD (you know, with the thermometer, etc.) on either BPC 5.1 or SQL 2005?
I have tried it, and didn't have much luck with the latest version -- apparently the PMD with SP2.  Below is the thread where one of the old Outlooksoft folks says that it's not part of the system anymore:
[Re: BPC 5.1 Performance and Dashboards|Re: BPC 5.1 Performance and Dashboards]

    Garret,
I have had exactly the same error with the eData menu at several customers. I solved it following the method below. It might be that these changes also have a positive effect on your issue.
Changes have to be made to the outlooksoft.config file and the connectionstrings in tblappsetinfo. Be sure to restart the server(s) after applying these changes.
    1. In outlooksoft.config file of x:\OutlookSoft\Websrvr\bin folder on the web server change the following line:
    <add key="Database_AppServerDBConn" value="Server=<servername>;Database=AppServer;Trusted_Connection=True;"/>
    to
    <add key="Database_AppServerDBConn" value="Server=<servername>;Database=AppServer;Trusted_Connection=True;pooling=false"/>
Please note that where I have <servername> you should put the name of your server ****
Also, add the pooling=false; to every connection string in tblappsetinfo.
Hope, but am not sure, it helps,
    Alwin

you have to find the keyword to see...
i suggest you to uninstall businessobjects and install again(else it's very hard to add the performance management program).
while you install, check the install performance management also(you have to have the keyword).

  • Performance Point Dashboard Designer filter and SSRS parameter problem

I've created reports in SSRS, with parameters, but can't get the filter in Performancepoint to have any affect on the SSRS parameter/reports. My SSRS reports are using shared datasets I've created, with no cubes. My SSRS parameter is text data type.
In the Dashboard Content window, I have the filter in the header, and have drug (at different times) the display value and the member unique name to the report.
In this header area (with filter), clicking the down arrow, there is no Edit Connection option. Should there be? Or would that only be to connect to a higher up filter? When clicking Create Connection, under the Items tab, 'get values from' lists header
and Date and is greyed out, I can put the report name in 'send values to', but under Connect To, there are no options. Why? And the OK button is greyed out.
In the report area, the filter name (Date) is listed underneath Connections. And right clicking the filter for this connection and clicking Edit Connection, under the Items tab, under 'get values from', it says header and Date, and under 'send values to',
zone 1 - and the report name is listed. Under the Values tab, the parameter name (DateNameParm) is listed in the Connect To, and I've tried both member unique name and display value for source value.
There's another thread on here titled "Performance Point - Dashboard Filter Not Working with SSRS Reporting Parameters" (won't let me post link), where someone here says they had to change the filter data type
from GUID, but I see no place to do this.

    Hi Roberto,
Dashboard layout and sizing in PerformancePoint is very flexible. This article covers nearly all of the sizing options available, one basic dashboard page scenario and a few common questions.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/performancepoint/archive/2008/01/07/performancepoint-dashboard-sizing-explained.aspx
Please go to the last question and answer: “filters are locked to auto-sizing,
so their width will override the size of their parent zone. Minimum filter width may be adjusted in the ParameterTree.css file. See the article
Working with the Monitoring CSS Files to Adjust Settings in Deployed Dashboards on the PerformancePoint team blog for more detail.”
As a best practice, put dashboard filters in a separate zone from where you put reports and scorecards. Otherwise, items such as chart legends or reports might not be displayed correctly.

  • Scorecards and Dashboards

    Scorecards and Dashboards
According to Harvard Business Review, Balanced Scorecard concept is the most influential management idea in the past 75 years.
The performance of an organization is tracked against four key perspectives such as Finance, Customers, Internal Processes and finally Learning, Innovation and Growth. These perspectives are divided into multiple sets of Key Performance Indicators ( KPIs ) and grouped against these perspectives and further broken from top level to the employee level KPIs. World over companies are moving towards implementing enterprise wide organizational Balanced Scorecard.
Simplicity, personalization and empowerment are the keys while building Agent Dashboards. These goals are achieved through the application of Business Intelligence ( BI ) concepts. A contact center performance is an aggregation of every agent performance.
An Agent should be able to customize and get the unified view of the aggregated metrics and track them on daily basis. How much he has achieved with respect to target? How his performance benchmarked with respect to overall call center performance. Is there performance improvement over a period of time? He can drill down and see which particular KPI is bringing his overall score down and he can see how he has or has not been able to improve his performance over a period of time.
A Supervisor should be able to see how agents under him are performing. His Dashboard should show an aggregated score of all his agents and simultaneously showing tabular information of comparative scores of all agents working under him. He can drill down on agent score who are not performing well. He can see individual KPIs of agents and study whether there are improvements over a period of time under the respective KPI.
Manager would like to see dashboards of aggregated scores of supervisors on weekly basis rather than daily basis. He can drill down till agent’s individual KPI level if he desires. A manager could also drill down against different channels and see the performance of different supervisors under different channels.
Call Center head would like to see the aggregated performance of his senior managers and across channels and will be interested to track performance against KPIs on monthly basis. He can drill down from manager level right up to the agent level and their individual KPIs to see where the actual pains are located.
Quality Managers would like to see how agents are performing against quality related KPIs. He would further like to analyze poor performing KPIs against type of service requests, type of channel and may be against important set of clients so that specific training programs could be designed for specific sets of agents rather than a plane blanket approach where every one is trained for everything.
In all the performance metrics could be analyzed against multiple dimensions such as channels customers, type of services, location etc. Users down the line are empowered to analyze the data and able to get operational and strategic insights. Hundreds of variants of Dashboards and Reports could be created from a simple single user friendly interactive interface
All above could be simply achieved through web browser and single user interactive interface. Every person in the organization can personalize the dashboard or reports from this single user interface. The power of analysis is coupled into the reporting and dashboard. It is this Business Intelligence capability that creates the unique customer experience in getting the insights of business.

  • The best practice for creating reports and dashboard

    Hello guys
I am trying to put together a list of best practice on how to create reports and dashboards using OBIEE presentation service. I know a lot of those dos and donts are just corporate words that don't apply consistantly in real world environment, but still I'd like to know if Oracle has any officially defined best practice or not.
the only best practice I can think of when it comes to building reports and dashboards is:
Each subject area should contain only one star schema that holds data for a specific business information
    Is there anything else?
    Please advice
    Thanks

Read this book to understand what a Dashboard is, what it should do and look like to be used by the end users. Very enlightentning.

  • Performance and stability in 10.4.7

I've had numerous performance and stability issues since the 10.4.7 update. Most noticeable are:
    1) It often take a long time to focus on windows. When I click on, say, a Terminal window, the window raises immediately but is not active for about 1-2 seconds. (The close/minimize/maximize lights on the titlebar remain gray and the window is inactive.) During this time, the Terminal process is takes 50-90% of the CPU, and then the SystemUIServer process hogs the CPU for the following 1-2 seconds. This behavior is not exclusive to the Terminal process; it happens to other windows too.
    2) When the system has been on screensave for a long time (say, >1 day), it becomes unresponsive to keyboard and mouse input and won't wake up. I usually have to power down the computer and reboot.
Has anyone else noticed this with the current OS? Could it be my fault somehow? If not, is it likely to be fixed in 10.4.8?
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.7) 1.5 GB memory

This is unusual. My 10.4.7 is pretty instantaneous. It could be a sign that you are using something in the background that eats up the signal for graphics redraw. What third party software do you have installed? What peripherals do you have installed? Have you installed any Dashboard Widgets.
    2) When the system has been on screensave for a long time (say, >1 day), it becomes unresponsive to keyboard and mouse input and won't wake up. I usually have to power down the computer and reboot.
Screen Saver or Energy Saver? Big difference here. Energy Saver could create such a situation especially with third party USB devices that are unfamiliar with Mac OS X's Energy Saver methods and send back signals expecting to receive back power and not getting it just as the machine wakes from sleep. If it is a Screen Saver, which Screen Saver? Have you tried to see if this happens without any pictures in your Pictures folder?
Is your data backed up? Diagnosing issues which result from force shutting down may require hard drive repair utilities. And the same issues that come from that can have caused the freezing and slowdown you are experiencing, as well as show up on a hard drive that is dying. So it is critical your data is backed up before we diagnose further. See my FAQ on backing up:

    hi,
KPI means key performance indicators. A project may contain some KPI's which need to be met. They can be in business logic for which the design and analysis part should be designed in a proper way to meet them. They can be related to queries, data loads or sometimes realted to business logic of the client.

  • Current View as filter in BPC Vs Planning level and package in BPS

    Hi,
If I understand correctly, the current view is as like a filter in BPC as planning level and package in BPS, by comparing then I notice that the value for current can only be single value while in planning level and package we can have range, multiple value of single value.
Let's have a planning scenario  we need to planning for every month based on the actual month data,
in BPS we can easily configure two type of columns with actual and planning data, while in BPC, since the current view only  allow single value, we have to copy the actual data to planning data, then with the category set to planning, we can do our planning. Of course if there is hierarchy, we can use parent to allow to display all the child.
The other option is to use the EvGTS function which can retrieve the data outside the current view.
Anybody have other though on this?
Edited by: JW on Jan 7, 2009 5:51 PM
Edited by: JW on Jan 7, 2009 6:25 PM

    Hi JW-
I did not mean to imply that the Current View (CV) is not a filter.  It can definitely be used to filter data presented from an EVDRE as well as other Ev functions, just like filters in BPS and IP.  However as a developer you have the option to use the CV or, through your configuration, disregard and/or override the CV settings.
One example of disregarding CV settings is using standard Excel functions to provide the user a dropdown list from which to select certain dim members.  The drop down box selection could be used instead of the CV for defining Ev function selections.  My point is that you have multiple design paths of controlling what data is selected/processed; you are not only limited to the CV values.  From a performance viewpoint, you are correct in assuming that limiting the data selection will greatly impact overall performance.  Using the CV to limit data selection to enhance performance is very valid approach, just be aware that there are several alternative ways (other than using CV to control data selection) available to the developer.

  • Version Controller for Oracle BI EE Reports and Dashboard

    Hi,
Is there any way to control Version in Oracle BI EE Reports and Dashboards which are created by different developers and modified as per time and as per requirements.
So that we can track that on perticular day this developer did some changes etc.

    Hi,
This is a very good feature that should be there. However, it's currently non-existent. Existing usage tracking can be used to identify bottlenecks and improve performance as well as show who has accessed what. Still, at present time, it's not possible to have developer's tracking. I hope this is a helpful answer.

  • SSRS Report inserted in Performance Point Dashboard fails to display when accessing through https.

    Hi,
I have a annoying issue : I created a SSRS 2008 R2 (SP Integrated) Report using report builder, I inserted it in a performance point dashboard and everything runs fine, on the SP Server. It means, when i'm accessing everything using local adress and
http protocol, it works fine. But once i'm accessing from my machine using SSL, the report is not displayed. I get first a warning asking me if I allow IE to display unsecure content, then the web part stays empty for a few second and finaly IE throws an "Internet
Explorer cannot display the webpage" in the webpart. I've been trying to put the https URL of the report in the PP Dashboard Designer but I get an unable to connect error. What is suprising me is that I do not have this issue with the report
itself, it works perfectly on the server and on clients.
Knowing that it is forbidden to connect to the server with designer tools from the clients, I'm in a dead end...
Anyone had this kind of issue?
    Thanks!
    Maxime

Do you generate a GUID error message with this error?  I suspect the problem will be more on the access than the item itself.
