BPC 5.1 SP3 Client Installs Change EnableNegotiate Registry Key

Just starting with BPC. Our first version is 5.1 SP3 and the server installation was completed successfully.
However, we have found that installing either the Admin or Office client components changes the following windows registry key on the client machine.
Under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
EnableNegotiate is set to 0.
This causes the users default home page link to our Sharepoint Intranet to fail with a security error (403.1).
Uninstalling the client components does not reverse the registry key change.
Only manually changing the value of the key back to 1 resolves the issue.
Is there any way to prevent this key from being modified by the client installations?
Why is the registry key changed?  Is it critical to the functionality of the client components?
We have not seen any problems in the BPC 5.1 client applications with the EnableNegotiate key set back to 1.
I'm new in these forums.  Any input is appreciated.

James Littleton

Hi James,
Personally I never have had any issues with this registry key, might be because I do not have many customers using sharepoint.
As you already did, I would change the key and test all functions within BPC extensively, If no problems are found, you could go for it. But be carefull with upgrades of the client software of BPC
Additionaly you could ask support why this key is changed with a client install of BPC.
Instead of a client install via the BPC webportal, a lot of customers are preparing/using custom software packages like SMS. You could reset the registry key with the requred value by using these kind of packages automatically.

  • SAP BPC 7.5 SP3 and Citrix Entering Data through BPC Client and Citrix

    Hello BPC experts,
    my client is using SAP BPC 7.5 SP3 in combination with Citrix. We are having problems now, while entering data through the BPC Client (installed on BPC Server) and the BPC Client (running on Citrix).
    When we enter data through the BPC Client (Server) and expand the sheet, we can only see the data that we entered through the BPC client (Server). When entering data through the BPC Client (Citrix), we can see only the data we enter through the BPC Client (Citrix).
    The database, however, saves both entries correctly. For test purposes we created a test report which shows both entries correctly in the BPC Client on the server and on Citrix.
    Does anyone have an idea what can be wrong with our system? We tried to create an EvDRE log File for this BPC version as well, but failed. Maybe one of you already did that and can help me with this.
    Thanks in advance!

    You can greatly improve your chance of receiving a helpful answer to your question if you state the version (MS or NW) of BPC which you are using.

  • Client Installation BO XI R2, only Desktop Intelligence needed

    Hi,
    I am going to do a Client installation of BO XI R2 SP2 on a Citrix server with Windows Server 2003.
    I only need to install Desktop Intelligence!
    The version we bought from BO is: 11.5.8.826. Now, I know that in SP3, there are added parameters for excluding elements and further slim down the installation to include only Desktop Intelligence. Since our purchased installation package is a lower version (SP2), is it possible to request a newer version of the setup.exe and msi so that we can perform the installation we require (Only Desktop Intelligence, Client Installation, SP4 if possibe for instance.)?
    Thanks for any answers!
    Kind regards,
    Frode Tveit

    Also service pack should not affect licensing. If you can download the client install package fromn the ESD there is no license entered during client installs anyway.
    To note if you are going to add any other XI products to the client such as crystal, live office, business views, etc then you will be required to patch with the server version. If you intend to only run deski/designer then you can use the slimmed down version. This is what I've been told so far and read in the install readme's. I'm goint to be testing this client version soon as well. I'll let you know if anything changes.

    Hello everyone,
    We are curently facing an issue with BPC 7.0M SP3 regarding the expiration of the signature of some BPC files. We check the Note and found to not related to our issue : Note 1334212 - Signed certification on BPC 7M SP3 and Note 1334217 - BPC 7.0M SP03 Patch 2

    For info these are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
    What, if anything, have you tried ?e.g. :
    - clearing Safari's history and data (Settings > Safari)
    - closing apps via the iPad's taskbar
    - soft-reset
    - resetting your network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings (you will need to re-enter network passwords to reconnect to them)
    - backing up (and copying purchases over to your computer's iTunes library) and restoring to that backup

  • Cisco VPN Client installation freezes on Windows 7

    Hello,
    I am in need of some help installing the Cisco VPN Client on a Windows 7 workstation.
    Here are some details:
    Cisco VPN Client Version: 5.0.07.0410
    Operation System: Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise, 32-bit, version 6.1, build 7600
    PC Hardware: IBM Thinkpad T42, Type 2373-7WE
    Issue Description:
    I attempted to install the Cisco VPN Client on the computer with the local administrator account in Windows 7. The computer was given a clean installation of Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise (Existing HDD partitions were deleted and formatted). After the OS installation, I installed the network driver via Windows Update, and proceeded to run the installation for the Cisco VPN Client. The installation apears to proceed smoothly until the installation progress indicator reaches the point where it states that it is installing the "Deterministic Network Enhancer." Shortly reaching this point, the Windows CPU Usage monitor reaches 100% and the operating system freezes.
    I have tried the following actions, which failed to successfully install the software:
    a) Installing Cisco VPN Client 5.0.00.0340 produced the same problem.
    b) Reformatted the hard drive, installed Windows 7, and tried to install the Cisco VPN Client again, but failed.
    c) Used Windows 7 System Restore to restore OS state prior to the installation of the Cisco VPN Client. Then, ran Citrix's winfix.exe tool. After that, I ran Citrix's dneupdate.msi program for 32-bit Windows operating systems, but that also crashed the OS mid-way through the installation/update.
    d) This URL from Citrix (http://www.citrix.com/lang/English/lp/lp_1680845.asp) suggested changing a Windows registry key, then try re-installing the Cisco VPN Client. However, that did not work.
    I am at a loss as to how to resolve this issue. If anyone can provide some suggestions or a solution to this issue, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Regards,
    Samson

  • Bug with Business Objects 3.1 Client installation. Very annoying indeed.

    I have faced a few issues while developing with the Client installation (which includes the Client Development SDK) of business objects 3.1.
    Some of the code just don't work with the client installation. They give Invalid cast exceptions. The same code will work fine with the server installation.
    For a simple example, consider the following straightforward code to set the destination-
    String query = "Select SI_DEST_SCHEDULEOPTIONS, SI_PROGID "
              + " From CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS Where SI_PARENTID=29 and "
              + " SI_NAME='CrystalEnterprise.DiskUnmanaged'";
            InfoObjects destinationInfoObjects = infostore.Query(query);
            InfoObject infoObject = destinationInfoObjects[1];
            //Set the options for the disk unmanaged destination
            DestinationPlugin destinationPlugin = (DestinationPlugin)infoObject;
            DiskUnmanaged diskUnmanaged = (DiskUnmanaged)destinationPlugin;
            DestinationOptions destinationOptions = diskUnmanaged.ScheduleOptions;
            DiskUnmanagedOptions diskUnmanagedOptions = new DiskUnmanagedOptions(destinationOptions);
            diskUnmanagedOptions.DestinationFiles.Add("C:\\");
            diskUnmanagedOptions.UserName = "your_username";  //Change these according to your logon settings.
            diskUnmanagedOptions.Password = "your_password";
            schedulingInfo = publication.SchedulingInfo;
            schedulingInfo.Destination.SetFromPlugin(diskUnmanaged);
    This code will give an invalid cast exception as follows-
    System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.InfoObject' to type 'CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.DestinationPlugin'.
    This happens at the line -
    DestinationPlugin destinationPlugin = (DestinationPlugin)infoObject;
    Now, this code works fine on a box where the server is installed.
    I have noticed this with a few other areas as well where the code fails with client installation but works on the server. This is really annoying because all the deveopers now have to install the server on their boxes.
    It is actually worse if just the Client Developer SDK is installed (and not the whole client). You would expect that just the SDK installation would be enough for one to do the coding. But doesn't work at all.
    Have others not faced this issue?

    Hi Dan,
    Thanks for your response. However, what I meant by client installation is exactly as what you have said below.
    I start the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 Setup, go to custom install, which shows up the following options-
    Client Components
    Web Tier Components
    Server Components
    Database Access
    etc. etc.
    Initially I unselected all, drilled down Client Components and just installed the Developer Components. But the code used to fail with an InvalidCast exception when we used to cast an InfoObject to a Report as following-
    Report report = (Report)infoObjects[1];
    This code used to work fine with earlier installations of business objects.
    This happened with all 3 of us who installed just the Dev components. To get over this we installed the whole Client Components and the above problem got resolved.
    And now we realize that even the whole Client Comp is not enough because it gives the casting problem while doing the destination stuff.

  • Upgrade BPC 5.1 SP3 to SP10

    Hi,
    I'll be upgrading one of clients' service pack from BPC 5.1 SP3 to SP10 in the next coming week.  I'd like to know if there's any new functionalities that comes with SP10.
    I'd also like to know what issues can I expect to come accross with the new patch.
    Regards,
    Mosa

    Into SMP you can see all the information necessary about this build.
    You will have everything which is new.
    Because i tis a cumulative patch you actually have to read all the information for SP4,5..until 10.
    You don't need to install all the patches but SP 10 will contains all the fixes from SP4 till 10.
    You can use the follow link

  • Instant client installation unavailable in ODBC data sources

    I'm trying to install instant client to enable MS Excel to access an Oracle database. OS is Windows 7.
    After installing instant client plus the odbc package, I can't see a new entry in the odbc data sources - only the standard Microsoft sources (Excel, Access, SQL Server) show up.
    There's also an Oracle SQL developer installation on my computer. Connection to the database works fine in SQL developer - so the DB does exist and it is accessible.
    Steps conducted during instant client installation:
    - Downloaded basic lite instant client (11.2.0.3.0) for windows.x64
    - Downloaded odbc package for windows.x64
    - unpacked zip file to instantclient directory
    - executed the odbc_install.exe in the instantclient directory. I'm not sure if this install.exe does anything at all. There was no error message but also no confirmation or reaction of any kind.
    - executing the install file from the cmd window gave me a message, that the odbc drivers were already installed. So I guess odbc_install.exe was executed properly
    - setting some system variables
         1) path variable: added instantclient directory to the ones already listed in path
         2) tns_admin: new entry, pointing to instantclient directory
         3) ld_library_path: new entry, pointing to instantclient directory
    - wrote an tnsnames.ora file using the connect information also used in SQL developer
    - saved tnsnames.ora file in instantclient directory
    - rebooted computer to activate changes
    When opening the odbc data source administration, I'm only able to see Microsoft drivers for Access, Excel, SQL Server. I'd expect to get an Oracle driver option to add to the installed drivers.
    Wild & uneducated guesses about what might cause the problem:
    - IC is installed on E: drive. Maybe some component is expected to be saved on C: (low likelihood, many others would have complained by now)
    - Win 7 often asks for explicit permission to do this or that via popup windows. Maybe the odbc-component encounters such a request ans says "Ummm....???"
    Any idea, what I might try to get an oracle entry in the odbc data source list?
    Best regards
    Peter

    I'm not sure to be honest, but what I downloaded did not have a setup.exe.
    Does what you're talking about allow you to connect to Oracle databases via ODBC? If so, is it downloadble from the Oracle site?

  • EVDRE Access Issue Post Upgrade from BPC 5.1 SP3 to BPC 7.0 SP6

    Greetings,
    Recently upgraded from BPC 5.1SP3 to BPC 7.0 SP6.  Experiencing some strange behavior regarding the ability to send data to BPC from an EVDRE.  Both users are part of the same secuity team, thus have the same security in both versions.  However, one is able to send data to BPC 7.0 SP6 for a specific input template while the other recieves a message "There is no data to refresh."    This message is not encountered in BPC 5.1 SP3.
    The strange thing is that the user who receives the "there is no data to refresh" is able to rebuild the input template ad hoc and send data to BPC
    I have reviewed security, cleared the cache on the user's machine.  I had the user with this issue log onto the app server; she encountered the same behavior regarding this template.  Also tested a seperate input template in another application, this issue did not occurr.
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Greg Lakin

    Hi, n
       From your description it looks like the problem si more related to that specific user. Please try to reprocess the security for that user. Then go on file server and go into <appset>/<application>/<private publication>/<user name> and delete appinfo.zip.
       Other idea can be related to the excel cache, but I don;t know why is not working for this specific user. You can try to save it in a new template as Patrick indicated.
    You can try also clear local application information from admin client or try from other machine using the same client.
    Hope this can hekp you,
    Mihaela

  • BPC 7.0 NW Client Install Error

    Hi Expert:
    Now I met some problem in install BPC 7.0 NW Client.
    At the first time, I ask me to provide the XceedZip.dll, however I do not have. So I just cancel the install process.
    Then, I download the lastest version XceedZip.dll and put it into the corresponding folder.
    At the second time, I told me "OSoftDMClientTools.DMTools found in registy.Please refer to administrator before install". I think this is caused by cancelling the install process.
    How should I do to solve this problem?
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Louis Lu

    Hi,
    one way is to manually delete the key in registry. Open the registry table by click start, run then type u201Cregeditu201D
    In the menu Edit, click find then type u201Cosoftaddinu201D
    Then you can delete those keys.
    Then it should be possible to do the client installation again.
    regards,
    Sreedhar

  • Upgrade BPC 7.5 SP3 MS

    Hi,
    We have BPC5.1 SP11 on SQL Server 2005 and we want to upgrade to BPC 7.5 SP3 on SQL Server 2008.
    Is there a SAP guide with all the steps necessary to be done to migrate an appset from 5.1 to 7.5?
    I find something on Upgrade Guide 7M.pdf and SAP_BPC_70_SP04_M_Install.pdf, but this is for BPC 7.0.
    For BPC 7.5 is there an official SAP guide? Are the migration steps the same?
    thanks
    best regards
    massimo

    Massimo - The SAP website uses javascript so it is difficult to get an accurate direct link to any specific page.  Click on patrick's link and then navigate to version 7.5 MS on your left pane.  Then you should be able to see the 7.5M guides.
    However, I'm noting that the guides are incomplete - for example, there is no Office or Admin guides for BPC 7.5 listed.
    Does anyone know why?  Here are the guides listed for 7.5 Microsoft version:
    SBOP Plan & Consol - CopyOpening Guide
    SBOP Plan & Consol - Currency Conversion Guide
    SBOP Plan & Consol - Intercompany Matching Guide
    SBOP Plan & Consol 7.5 M Installation Guide
    SBOP Plan & Consol 7.5 M Master Guide
    SBOP Plan & Consol 7.5 M Operations Guide
    SBOP Plan & Consol 7.5 M Upgrade Guide

  • "Could not create Java virtual machine" for several XP SP3 clients

    Hi,
    In this last year I got the message "could not create java virtual machine",
    (suddenly, after several mounths without any kind of problem),
    on 10-15 XP SP3 clients in our lan, lan in which all the 200 clients (90% XP SP3)
    have this application installed.
    Every time the solution seems to be different:
    sometimes the cause is a virus, sometimes i have to disinstall all Java components
    and reinstall only the Java RE 6.0_23 (used by the application),
    sometimes I have to make also a system registry cleaning for Java components,
    only few times was enough to clear the Java cash, change the kind of Java network connection,
    delete the temporary files...
    In two situations the problem was solved changing UltraVnc with RealVnc
    and only once the user solved himself restarting the computer...
    I'd like to know which is the meaning of this message and which steps is better
    to follow in order to solve the problem in the shortest time.
    Thank You

    Thank you
    for anwering my question !
    Anyway, in all the 10-15 cases I solved this problem, I hadn't to change the amount of RAM...
    never... and, once solved, the computer client is ok and the application works without subsequent problems...
    So, as I said, i can solve the problem without Knowing the real reason, and often after several
    hours... (you can read in my previous comment about a lot of differences solutions...)
    The matter is... that I can't understand "how and why" I solve the problem...
    Bye
