BPC 7.0 NW - No Rate Dimension

Hi
Does anyone know why there is not a Rate dimension type in BPC 7.0 NW?
What is the correct approach to enabling conversion in this version?

Hi AI.
If you normally take Apshell as your base application set, there you can see now R_ACCT and R_Entity dimensions.
Normally R_ACCT dimension is used to enable conversion.
Just check Apshell application set.

BPC 7.5 NW - Exchange Rates & Currency Translation

Hello All,
I have a couple of questions regarding the BPC currency translation process.
1. We have two options to store the exchange rates - either as a direct quote or as an indirect quote. How are the exchange rates stored in the BPC system?
2. We have a property called "MD" in the InputCurrency dimension, which is used as a 'factor' in the currency translation process. I would like to know how this property is used, in conjunction with the direct/indirect method of maintaining the exchange rates.

Thanks for the response. I do realize that we can enter the exchange rates either via a flat file or an Input Schedule, and also how the "MD" factor is utilized in the currency translation process.
I will try to rephrase my questions, as below:
1. In ECC, we have the option to maintain the exchange rates either as a direct rate or an indirect rate. Similary, I would like to know how the exchange rates are "_stored_" in the BPC system - as indirect quotations or direct quotations.
2. In addition, I would also like to know how the "MD" property in the InputCurrency dimension should be maintained. In other words, let us say that the exchange rates are stored as direct quotes. How do we maintain the "MD" property in the inputcurrency dimension for this exchange rate - M or D?
Hope my questions are a bit more clear now.

BPC for Excel - All Members in Dimension

Hi,
I'm currently working in BPC 7.0 for NW and I have created a report in BPC Excel.
I want to select all members in a dimension - but the function is greyed out in the selection screen.
I tried looking for error in service marketplace - without any luck.
Anyone come across this before?

Hi Sonni,
When you are selecting members from the CV, you cannot select multiple members. You can select only single member at a time from CV.
To get all the members in the report, you need to use the expansion options available, depending on whether you are using evexp or evdre.

BPC NW 7.5 Problems with dimension ID member "Item has already been added"

Hi experts,
I have a problem when mantaining the dimension members in SAP BPC 7.5 in the administration console.
I try to introduce numeric values for the ID like for example 971048000011001 and 971048000011002, but when trying to save them, I get the error "Item has already been added. Key in dictianary: "9.71048E14" Key beeing added: "9.71048E14". It seems that BPC transforms the format into a text format before saving. Am I wrong? Is thera a solution?
I tried modifying the number format in the excel sheet, but nothing worked. Can anybody help me, please?

Try to put an simple quote before de member value, for example '1234567890

BPC Performance with large number of dimensions's members

Hi,
I would like to know if there is a limitation on the number of members in one dimension. This dimension, named PROJET, is often used in expansion on our input schedule reports (to retrieve the projects which belong to the entity entered in the current view).
With approximate 2500 members in this dimension, the report takes about 4 minutes to be expansed (or even open).
We have 8 dimensions with few to 300 members. The PROJECT dimension is the biggest in terms of members's number.

Hi Helene,
With 3,000 members you should not be experiencing these problems, if your report is designed properly.
I'm running BPC 5.1 SP8 on SQL 2005, with a dimension containing 22,000 members. Client PC's are typical (XP, Excel 2007, 1 or 2 gig RAM).
Using EVDRE and this dimension expanding on the rows, most reports & input schedules can expand & refresh in the range of 10 to 30 seconds.
The faster times are when I use a row expansion memberset using dimension properties, such as Active="X". The slower times are when the memberset is hierarchy-based, such as BAS.
If you're using a dynamic template (one using EVEXP for the expansion) then you should start over using EVDRE. It will be much faster, particularly if you optimize your row expansion.
It's often a good idea to add dimension properties specifically for the purpose of optimizing the report expansion, if the dimension has thousands of members. I sometimes go as far as to add properties which mimic the hierarchy (MyLevel2, MyLevel3, etc) just for this purpose.

BPC 10.0- Creating report using dimension property filter

Hi,
I created a new report in EPM addin for excel using the 'Filter Members by Properties' feature in the EPM Member Selector Window.
My requirement is as I add new members to my dimension with that property value , the report has to refresh and display the new member in the report.
The feature met my requirement and I saved the report.When I reopen the report, the filter that I had earlier used to create the report is hard coded with the members with those properties in the EPM selector Window.
As a result, when I add new Members to the dimension with that property , the report does not recognise that new member and my requirement does not meet.
Eg: I create report with Entity dimension across row axis and Product Dimension -filter on category = New across column axis
and save the report.
When I reopen the report, I see that in the EPM Member selector window, across column axis the members with Property Value Category= Y - Product A,Product B, Product E are hard coded and the filter has been auto removed.
So when I add a new member to my product dimension Product N with property Category= New, the report does not recognise this member.
Please help on how can I use this feature to meet my requirement.

Hi,
It should work for newly created members which meets the requriement in member selector.
Member filtering by properties:
Select property, operator and Value and click Add Dynamic filter then in the right window you will be able to see as follows:
Member name Relation ship
<property>=<Value> Property

SAP BPC 7.0 Installation : Processing of dimension

Hi All,
i have installed the SAP BPC 7.0 M , after installation i am able to create application set , application , set security and full optimise the application.
but when i try to process dimesnionm i get the following error.
" there is no data in Mbr table : Processing fail".
but in the excel sheet we have dimesnionmembers

What if you have this issue on 7.0M SP4 and you're still on SQL Server 2005?
I'll be less than impressed if someone tells me to upgrade to 2008 as well.

It is required that the currency conversion for some accounts use the average currency rate of a period and some accounts use currency rate at the end of the month or currency rates of previous month and so on.... This in BPC is facilitated by the Rate dimension in the rate application. The user inputs currency conversion rates for avg,end and avgflow accounts (different account members in rate dimension) and the currency conversion logic uses the applicable rates for an account based on the RateType property in account dimension.In general P&L and cashflow accounts use Avg rates and Balance sheet accounts use End of period rate, but it can be a combination of both.
And Active workbook will be the current workbook you will be working on.

Does BPC 5.1 support separate Group/Currency dimensions for Legal?

I see in the documentation that I have for BPC 5.1 that currently the Legal Application does not support separate Group & Currency dimensions for Legal Consolidations. Does anyone know if this is still true? If not, is there new logic/documentation of this somewhere?

Hi
BPC each application can have only one rate dimension and normally its currency but for legal consolidation we use Groups as rate type dimension and where you can include you currencies also.
The reason being the LC copies the numbers to groups first and then consolidate and similarly it uses same logic to convert into different currencies hence you can use same dimension for both.
Else create user defined dimension for currencies which would make life miserable.

If your are using BPC 10 with EPM add in client, you can use the function:
EPMDimensionProperty ()
This function retrieves the properties of a specified dimension in a specified cell range.

Problem on deletting members in BPC dimension

Hi everybody,
How is the right way to delete a member dimension?
I've followed these steps:
- i've done a lite optimize
- I've cleared all data belonging to this member using the Clear package
- I've deleted the member in Excel using BPC Admin
- I've processed the dimension
During the dimension processing, a warning appears: the member is being used, but it has no data and it's not been used in any formula member!!
What's happening?
Any idea out there?

Hi everybody,
I need to use something that works directly on BPC Admin or BPC Excel.
I've read that it's possible to create a package that runs the same process chain that BPC Admin uses, when it runs 'Lite/Full Optimization'. I would have to include a new line:
TASK(/CPMB/LIGHT_COMPRESS,ZERO_ELIMINATION_ON,X) for the Lite optimization package
TASK(/CPMB/FULL_COMPRESS,ZERO_ELIMINATION_ON,X) for the Full optimization package
and after executing this package, it would make a zero elimination on the BPC cube.
Does somebody know the code that I have to write at the Data Manager Package script?
Does somebody know if this SAP BPC 7.0 behaviour will be the same at SAP BPC 7.5 version?

SSTemplate.xlt Error during 'Maintain Dimension Member' in BPC Admin

Hi,
While trying to 'maintain dimension member' in BPC administrator (BPC 7.0 Netweaver version) for a dimension,I get error message that 'C:\...Temp\SSTemplate.xlt' file could not be found.
Due to this I am unable to maintain members for any dimension.
If anyone has faced this issue and resolved it,could you please me out?

Dear Rinal Parmar,
I think that the dimension file which you mean is lose from the directory(the directory which you installed the SAP BPC). If you've backup the Appset before, please you find the dimensian file (.xlt) which is lose in the backup directory. After that, you copy paste into the exactly directory (the directory which you installed the SAP BPC). Then, You should process dimension and process application again.

Master data load issue in BPC Dimensions

Hi BPC Experts,
I am facing an issue when loading master data to BPC dimensions.I have an Infoobject called Prodtype.I loaded master data and text to prodtype infoobject.Then i locked the BPC dimension C_Prodtype and executed DTP to load attributes and text from infoobject prodtype to BPC dimension C_Prodtype .We able to see the data in BPC dimension C_Prodtype.By using program we are updating the BPC Dimensions C_Prodtype.But this product type values are not displayed in BPC Administration.

Please log into BPC admin console. Select the dimension and click on "export dimension" from the action pane.

Script logic from BPC 5 in BPC 7.5

Hi,
I am trying to use some script logic from an appset in BPC 5 in BPC 7.5. When I validate the logic in 5 it works fine but in 7.5 I get validation errors.
They relate to properties of dimension elements that are not currently used (neither in 5 nor in 7.5) but could well be used in the future. As an example, this bit generates an error
*WHEN ACCOUNTL.RATETYPE
*IS END,ENDFLOW
I currently do not have an account defined with ratetype END but it is quite possible that there will be one in the future. And END is defined as an element in the RATE dimension.
So, why did BPC 5 accept this and BPC 7.5 does not? And, is there a way around other than defining a dummy element in ACCOUNTL that used ratetype END?

What I havenoticed is that with the new7.5 Script logic, there are more checks and balances performed during the validation. So, if you have only AVG, ENDRATE on RATETYPE property and no END for any member, yet your logic is calling a set of members with this parameter, the logic fails to validate. I assume the process is checking for a set of END members based on the request. Since they don't exist, the error occurs. But I would request that BPC Support verify the behavior as well.
If you remove END, does the logic validate?
