  • Database settings in SQL server

    Hi,
Please provide SAP's recommendations for Database Settings when upgarding to BPC 7
1.Compatibility Level. Should it be (80) or (100)?
    Compatibility Level of 80 = SQL 2000
    Compatibility Level of 90 = SQL 2005
    Compatibility Level of 100 = SQL 2008
    2. Recovery Model (Simple or Full)
    Thanks.
    Raghu

    Hi Raghu,
    For 7.0
SQL Server 2000 is not supported
Compatibility Level of 90 = SQL 2005 if you are using SQL Server 2005
Compatibility Level of 100 = SQL 2008 if you are using SQL Server 2008
    Recovery Model
It is depending by the disaster recovery model which customer would like to implement.
If for the customer lossing data for last 24 hours is an accepted then you can use SINGLE
If for the customer the data lost can be in maximum X hours (X< 24)  then you have to use FULL.(and you have to implement
the backup maintenance plan according with this requirement).

  • Microsoft Office Excel - compatibility Checker message in BPC 7.5

    Hello Experts,
We are using BPC 7.5 M with Office 2007 on Application Server, we have upgraded from BPC 5.1 with Office 2003 where Dimension were of .xls and templates & Reports were of .xlt (office 2003 format) , After upgrade we have not done any changes in Dimension, Templates, reports version and they all are in .xls (Dimension) & .xlt (templates & reports) version
We are getting a error while saving a dimension in Admin module (by clicking on "Save to Server" link):
Microsoft Office Excel - compatibility Checker
    Significant loss of functionality
Some cells have overlapping conditional formatting ranges.
Earlier version of Excel will not evaluate all of the conditional
formatting rules on the overlapping cells. The overlapping
cells will show different conditional formatting.
Do we need to convert the dimension files in 2007 format (.xlsx) or how to avoid the above told message while saving dimension file.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

    Hi Rohit Khatak,
Could you solve your problem? I'm having this issue while processing ACCOUNT dimension (and only ACCOUNT) on Development environment, and nothing was changed at the server.
Every time I try to save, I receive this compatibility error, and when I press "Continue", the file gets with a strange format. If I press the save again, it stil gives me the same error.
I already tryed to process the dimension, to Refresh Dimension Members, and the error persists.
Is there a way to solve this problem at BW side? On RSD1 maybe?
    Thanks in advance.
    Yours,
    Adriano

    hi,
as you read, your BPC was designed for NET1.1 which build under 32bit platform while NW AS ABAP needs 64 bit environments to run. wow3264 is to enable your 32 bit application to run on 64 bit platform in this case BPC NET component can run on 64 bit. wow3264 is windows registry keys. so you can find it in the registry value using regedit.msc.
    may this help you.

  • Ps CS6 Problem: unable to prevent uncompressed compatibility image being saved in 32-bpc docs

    Ps CS6
    OS X 10.6.8
There seems always to be an uncompressed compatibility image in 32-bit PSD and PSB, and in 32-bit layered TIFF. That's regardless of Maximum Compatibility being disabled when saving.
If Maximum Compatibility is enabled, there correctly is an uncompressed composite in the file.
If Maximum Compatibility is disabled, there's an overhead equivalent to an uncompressed image with the document's size. I reckon the all-white compatibility image is uncompressed! If any image should be compressed, that surely is it. What a ridiculous waste of storage space. An unnecessary consumption of hundreds of MB per document in many cases.
This uncompressed compatibility image would explain why an embedded 32-bit PSB which stores the IBL of a 3D Layer consumes the enormous storage of a large uncompressed 32-bit image despite it being compressible to a few hundred KB.
If I've missed some switch to prevent this waste of storage, please point me to it. Otherwise, please employ compression when appropriate.

That is correct - without that, many other applications fail to read the file.
We think we've got a way to compress even the solid color data in 32 bit/channel, but it wasn't as straightforward as it sounds (floating point is tricky).

  • BPC client compatibility

    Hi all,
I have few questions regarding BPC for NW. I would appreciate if someone can clarify them for me.
1-  Where can I find the sp level of BPC .Net component. (is it from server manager System Information. I can see .06 there. does that mean sp06?)
2- If I want to patch BPC ABAP component from from sp06 to the latest patch. Do I also have to patch .net component to the same level? And also do i also have to patch BPC client to the same level ?
3- Can i patch BPC client to the higher level than that of BPC ABAP component ????
    Regards,
    Rizwan.

    Hi,
    Yes, that would mean SP06.
Usually, if you are applying a patch, all the components should be on the same patch level. However, there are few patches which are applicable only to the clients. This means that the the patch level will be different from the .NET server, in this instance. In all the other cases, you should apply the same patch level to all the components.
    Hope this helps.

  • Host process rundll32 has stopped working while Installing BPC 7.5

    Hi guys,
while installing BPC on Windows 2008 R2, the installation programs shows the message
Host process rundll32 has stopped working.
According to SAP Note 1498480 - Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working, i have followed the recommendations:
    32bit Compatibility Mode ON
    C:\inetpub\AdminScripts>cscript.exe adsutil.vbs set W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32BitAp
    pOnWin64 "true"
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.8
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
    Enable32BitAppOnWin64           : (BOOLEAN) True
Also disabled the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and rebooted server.
Then tried reinstalling IIS 7.0, rebooting the server, instaling it again but still showing the same error message.
Any futher help on this would be highly appreciated.

  • BPC does not recognize Copy-paste

    Hi,
I am using the following VBA code to find if the excel is in Copy mode.
    If Application.CutCopyMode = 1 Then
    DO SOMETHING
    End if
As long as I copy a cell and paste it outside the BPC data range, it works fine. But if the cell where I paste belongs to the data range, the CutCopyMode shows 0. Why is it not recognizing the Copy event? Also, in BPC, once we copy a region, we can use it to paste only once. Why can't we have a normal Excel function where we can paste it as many times as we want to? Is there some compatibility issue?
    Thanks,
    Swathi

    Karthik,
I removed the CHANGED criteria from the FormatRange and it worked! Thank you very much

  • SQL Server 2008 on the Web/App server for BPC 7.0

In a multi-server environment (DB/OLAP on a 64-bit platform, Web/App on a 32-bit platform), is it necessary to have SQL Server on the Web/App server if Reporting Services is not used?  Could you explain why SQL Server is needed on this server if Reporting Services is not used?

    Hi
Reporting Service is a requirement for BPC. If it is not deployed on App Server, it can be deployed elsewhere but is required.
Other SQL related things that go on App Server include:
    Reporting Services
    Shared Features
           Client Tools Connectivity
           Management Tools - Complete
           Business Intelligence Development Studio
           Integration Services
           Client Tools Backward Compatibility
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components from Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack
Reporting Services/Integration Service requires SQL license(s). Standard ediiton of these can be used if you are not performing Load Balanced deployement.

  • Excel Issues around BPC

    All
Do you face problems in running normal excel functions mid way through processing BPC reports? There are problems such as:
    1. Member selector stops working - there is a note for that (2098838)
    2. Issues in EPM Add in - there is a note for that too (2107965)
(Just mentioning the two above since I have looked at these and still the issues continue)
I am not referring to these two. My problems are:
Scenario A - I log on to BPC; open up reports and refresh. After a few refreshes/save data operations, my cursor in excel will stop responding to excel functions. For example, I cannot type in a cell, unless I go to the excel cell context. I cannot right click for functions such as copy, paste etc.
My only recourse is to shut down the excel session and start over again.
Scenario B - Open a report; refresh. Run a Ctrl+F to find a cell. It works. Then run an Excel data filter in the columns. I filter out certain rows and try Ctrl+F again. It doesnt work. The value I am looking for is within the filter (I can see it) but the excel find feature doesnt work.
Any ideas on these wierd problems? Users can work around them, but they tend to be very annoying and disrupt the user experience.

  • BPC 7.5 SP4 Support for Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2

The release notes for BPC 7.5M SP04 state that support has been added for both Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2.
For SQL 2008 R2, there is nothing in the feature pack described as "SQL 2005 Backward Compatibility Components" - which was a required piece for  BPC 7/7.5 on SQL 2008. Is the SQL 2008 version still a requirement, or does BPC 7.5 now not need the Backward Compatibility components?
Also, the ReprotViewer executable that is packaged with BPC 7.5 is the one for SQL 2008- will that work when installing SQL 2008 R2?
    thanks,

we are developping our application-set and for the moment we have no problem.

  • SAP BPC 10.0 Web Client Blank Screen after login

    Hi ALL,
We are using SAP BPC 10.0 Web Client with Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.214 with IE 9.0 on Windows 7.0.
We face strange error where on only on certain PC, the BPC web client working.. On other getting Blank/Blank Screen after login (with "movie not loaded" on the adobe flash player).. Both PCs are having the same setting.
Even one of PC which previously working, starting this week suddenly getting the same error.. I have created OSS message and got feedback with also share this problem on this forum.
    I have done several actions as mentioned on several SAP notes )1624267, 1664889, 1681147, 1694871, 1752971, 1798336, 1804221, 1806371, 1811218, 1820505, 1918631, 1968584), but still no luck..
If you have the same issue, kindly share..
    Thanks and regards,
    Hery

Yes .. Compatibility View also checked.. in several PCs, it is working well. both failed and working PCs have the same setting.
Just found another weird: in one working PC, 2 different windows local-admin users login to the same PC for BPC-web and getting different result (1 Ok ; 1 failed) ..seems it is related with the user profile and login-domain servers (we have multiple login-domain servers with load balancing mechanism).
    Thanks and regards,

  • BPC 70 SP4 and SQL 2008 Feature Pack

Is the SQL 2008 Feature Pack required in a BPC 70 SP4 installation with SQL 2008?  It is listed as a prerequisite, but our DBA's would prefer that it not be installed.  My understanding is that this is needed for backward compatability.  Thre are notes related to this for SP3, but nothing for SP4.

    Hi John,
I just checked it and you don't need all feature pack.
Just install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack.
This is for executing custom packages that was created in SQL2005.
I hope it will help you.

  • BPC 5.1 and Windows Vista

    Hi,
One of my customer is looking at the possibility of implementing BPC 5.1 on Windows Vista operating system.
I am not able to find much information in SDN regarding the compatibility of BPC 5.1 with Vista OS.
And also, in terms of performance, which one is recommendable WIN XP or Windows Vista ?
    Ravi

    HI ravindra,
as an add-on, I'm following CPM310 course on this very moment (5.1 version) and I've asked the same question to my teacher. He said that office 2007 is possible but currently could create problems when not all users are working on 2007 (so you create report in office 2007 and others edit it in office 2003). Apperantly they had some problems on this during ramp up fase, but it will be solved on short term notice
    regards
