BPC 7.5 for Netweaver : Upgrade SP

Hi Experts,
My co nfiguration :
BPC 7.5 for NW , SP07.
WOndowns Server 2008
I would like to Upgrade my BPC component from SP07 to the last SP.
What's the process?
After upgrading to the last SP with SPAM, do I need to UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT again? (with clean and delete option?)
On the windows side, I think I have to uninstall and install the new version?
Regards
Chris

Hi Chris,
It wouldn't hurt to use UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT to clean and then activate APSHELL after you update your BPC to the latest version.
There a few things triggered by this process like Process Chains, so if you re-create APSHELL you will ensure that it is up to date and also all the new AppSets based on it.
You might face issues with a Dimension Attribute named MBR__SEQ, if for some reason your dimensions don't have it then you may run UJA_MIGRATE_MBR_SEQ to fix it.
As you are coming from SP07 I believer there will be no issues with that.
Regarding the already existent AppSets there is no need to activate them again as far as I know.
On BPC Client you may face an issue where not all languages are available to be installed, but if you alternate between steps all languages should be displayed. This issue is present on the installer of BPC Client 7.5 SP09 up to 11.
If you don't have the AntiXssLibrary 3.1 I would recommend saving it from your current installation as it is no longer available on the Microsoft download portal. You may also follow [SAP Note 1679046|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1679046] for a workaround.

Marcelo

  • BPC 7.5 for Netweaver : SP Stacks

    Hello,
I need to install the SAP BPC 7.5 for Netweaver add-on.
The party ABAP server will be installed on a Netweaver 7.0 SP6 EhP1.
The .NET application/web server will in turn installed on a Windows 2008 server.
The last level of SP Stack available for BPC is Stack 11.
Do you have any feedback on the stability of the latest SP for BPC?
It seems that SP10 have bugs.
Which SP has the most stability?
    Thank you for your feedback.
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    I stand to be corrected.
However, my understanding is that SP 7 for BPC is a prerequisite for compatability with NetWeaver 7.3.
SP 7 is also backwards compatable with previous versions of NetWeaver.
I have successful installed and worked on a stable environment:
    BPC SP 7
    NetWeaver 7.0
You may want to bear this in mind if you are planning to ramp up your NetWeaver. You may find yourself installing a previous SP for BPC only to ramp up to NetWeaver 7.3 and have to migrate your BPC SP to a later version.
    Best,
    Devon Abraham

    3/ UJA_ACTIVATE_CONTENT
4/ UJA3_WRITE_SYS_USERS (to assign Windows BPC users)

    Thanks,
which user have to launch UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT?
Is it BPC_SYSADMIN user or a basic system user admin?
S_RS_ALL, SAP_BW_CONTENT_ADMIN (and may be SAP_ALL) have to be assigned to BPC_SYSADMIN user or to the one that will launch UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT?

  • BPC for NetWeaver OS requirement - Windows 2003 Standard vs. Enterprise

    Hello BPC Expert,
I have a question in regard to the Windows Server 2003 edition for SAP BPC 7.0 for NetWeaver. On the Installation Guide of BPC NetWeaver SP03, the prerequisite for the Operating System for .NET Server component is Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.
My question: will Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition work for .NET component? We have a budget concern as the Enterprise Edition will cost couple more thousands than standard.
    Thank you,
    Bomo

    Hi,
Yes you can use the Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (32-bit and 64-bit). Shouldnt be a problem.
    Thanks.

    Thanks.

Yes. Please check Server Manager -> Roles. Find Web Server (IIS) there (not a tree node, but on page), click "Add Role Services" and check that all Security role services are checked. If not - check, install missing role services, try .Net server, if it still doesn't work, reinstall.
    Otherwise it would not work.

  • SAP Best Practice For Unicode Upgrades - NetWeaver 2004s

    Team SAP,
I have a customer that is starting to plan for a Unicode upgrade.  The question from the customer is as follows:
What is the SAP Best Practice for Unicode Upgrades?  They will be upgrading from a BW 3.5 System to NetWeaver 2004s, and their question is ... should they:
       a) Perform the Unicode Upgrade At The Same Time As Their BW 3.5 > NetWeaver 2004s Upgrade, or
       b) Perform NetWeaver 2004s Upgrade first, and then at a later date, perform the Unicode Upgrade?
Thank you in advance for any guidance or counsel you may be able to offer.

    3. Assign a single domain user to each user type
and after this appear one table with users abap and users from AD, my cuestion is this:
This AD users, what permissions need???
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi
Thanks for your help Bruno it was very helpful.
The problem was solved thanks to the security guide page 39 we can read:
When you are adding new users from a domain to the system, you have the ability to select one of the user-defined groups, and customize it further, if required.
When setting up users on the system, take the following considerations into account:
We recommend that all users come from a single domain.
We recommend that all users have access to the domain the server is on. If they do not have direct access, the domain must be trusted between the server and user domain.
The installation user must have rights to browse the users from all user domains.
    Thanks for your help.

  • EHP1 for Netweaver Mobile 7.1 available or not?

I am trying to do a install of Netweaver 7.1, and for that reason I would like to have the latest version available. According to the installation and media guides, there should be a Install Master and Kernel 7.11 available but I am unable to locate this in the software distribution center. I can find it for Netweaver PI 7.1, but not for Netweaver Mobile. Anyone who knows more about this?
I could of course install 7.1 and then the EHP1 as an upgrade, but I already installed SQL Server 2008 and NW 7.1 can not be installed directly on MSSQL 2008, so I thought it woudl be easier to just make one install and save a lot of time and extra steps.

I have to come back to this topic, because of a reply I got in another thread some time ago from Mr Stefan Wawrzinek:
"SAP NetWeaver Mobile Always Connected is supporting Stylesheets with NetWeaver 7.1 EHP 1."
My goal by installing Netweaver 7.1 Mobile is to test the "Always Connected" functionality with mobile devices. The tests I have done with Netweaver 7.0 are very disappointing. Either I get good performance but absolutely zero control over the look & feel (using parameter PieClient), or I get terrible performance but a good looking interface (stylesheets and javascript too heavy for mobile devices).
So it seems I will anyway have to wait for EHP1. But what is puzzling me is the fact that there is no Java application server in Netweaver Mobile 7.1. Does that mean that SAP now supports the parameter PieClient for mobile-compatible rendering of HTML also for ABAP WebDynpro applications? With NW 7.0, it was necessary to use Java WebDynpro to use the PieClient parameter.
    Any insight greatly appreciated!

  • Kernelupgrade to 7.40 for Netweaver 7.30 possible?

    Hello,
we have a SAP Netweaver 7.3 Java only system and would like to know, if it's possible to do a kernel upgrade to 7.40 or 7.41.
I checked PAM, but in PAM I can only see released kernels for ABAP Application server. If option "Application Server Java" is chosen, no kernels are shown.
Do the kernels from "Application server ABAP" section correspond to JAVA section? According to this kernel 7.40/7.41 is not released for Netweaver 7.3.
    Regards,
    Julia

    Hello
From the information available on market place the 740 kernel is not planned to be delivered for other versions than NW 740.
    1969546 - Release Roadmap Kernel 740
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/802456c5-dba5-3110-7284-b67945cdcb38&overridelayout=true
There will always be two kernel versions available, which can support any SAP NetWeaver 7.X (X < 4) based system: one standard version (currently kernel 720) and one innovation version (kernel 721). It has been announced recently that kernel 720 will be discontinued by Q1 2015. This means that kernel 721 will take over the role of the standard kernel by that time (with no new features) and a new innovation kernel (kernel 722) will be released.

  • BPC Ver 10.1 Netweaver User Guide

I am having trouble finding a user guide for BPC Ver 10.1 Netweaver (Classic or Unified).   I am preparing "admin" training materials and can not find answers to some basic application admin type activities like what special characters are allowed in dimension ID names.  And I can not find it mentioned in the admin guide or the EPM guide.  So I am in search of a user guide type of document.
The following link lists resources such as Master Guide, Administrator's Guide for "SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 10.1, version for SAP NetWeaver"
    http://help.sap.com/bopac#section7
    Help appreciated.

    Hi Brian,
If you look at 10.0 Netweaver, there is also no user guide there.
I think as users view BPC via the EPM client, the user guide is there.
I think from a users point of view certainly for Classic / Standard, other than the web side, there is no real changes from 10.0

  • Application Help for Query Designer for Netweaver 2004S

Does anyone know how to install the Help Files for the Business Explorer Tool for Netweaver 2004S?  When I click on the Help>>Applicaton Help from any of these tools, it states it can't find the files.  I have it setup and working within ABAP.
    Thanks,

The help dvd that came with upgrade explains how to setup for the ABAP side, not the Query Designer.  Do you know the parameter settings?  Does Query Designer help use the sapdoccd.ini file?

  • Migration of "CRONACLE for SAP solutions" to "SAP CPS for Netweaver"

    Hi,
We have standalone  Cronacle/CPS 6.02.  We are in the process of researching about migrating to  "SAP CPS for Netweaver"  like SAP CPS M33. We have the following questions.
1)Is a migration path available to migrate from "CRONACLE for SAP solutions" to "SAP CPS for Netweaver" ?.
2)What are the benefits of going to "SAP CPS for Netweaver" ?.
3)Is the migration can be done by ourselves or any SAP migration consultant is required?.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.
    Raj.

    Hi Laurence, Raj,
This question is very old and I had not seen it before.
To upgrade from CPS 6.0.2 or 7.0.4 to 8.0.0 (aka M33). I do not know if SAP consultancy offers anything for this, you want to check with them. SAP might refer you to Redwood, though.
As for the differences, where do I start ... ;-)
Actually, CPS 8 is a major platform shift. Version 6 and 7 were PL/SQL-based solutions, version 8 is Java-based. You have many more possibilities built-in, such as better XBP 3.0 support, web services, SAP BusinessObjects, SAP PI/XI control, ... the list could go on forever.
Some older platforms (very, very old) are no longer supported, afaik, but you get native z/OS (mainframe) platform agents, AS/400 agents ... the user interface is platform independent, so you can access it from any OS including, but not limited to, Windows, Unix, Linux, and Mac OS X. There is even an iPhone/iPad client.
BTW, I do not know how long version 6 and 7 are supported.
The platform shift means that you might have to use a PL/SQL API in version 8. I guess it depends on how much PL/SQL you use. If most of your jobs are SAP and OS jobs, you would not even need that.
