BPC 7.5 MS END OF MAINSTREAM MAINTENANCE
Dear BPC Friends
As you know the end of mainstream maintenance for the version SAP BPC 7.5 MS is 31.03.2016.
What does it mean?
Which will be the risk involved if we don't upgrade and we continue to work on this version in the next years until 2018?
thanks
Michele
Michele,
You can find the official "SAP maintenance strategy" on the SAP Support Portal under the tab "Maintenance & Services".
Generally speaking, SAP recommends to upgrade before you reach the end of the mainstream maintenance phase. The delivery of new releases of the licensed software, as well as upgrade tools, are covered by the SAP support contract. Visit the SAP upgrade info center to learn more about the possible transition options and SAP's offerings to efficiently support the upgrade.
Extended maintenance. For many releases SAP offers extended maintenance (at an additional fee, but with all benefits of the mainstream maintenance phase).
Customer-specific maintenance. If you do not opt for an upgrade or for extended maintenance, or if extended maintenance is not offered, you enter customer-specific maintenance automatically. During this phase, some restrictions apply to the scope of SAP support.
You should discuss this with your SAP account representative if you have one to determine what specific options are available to you.
While product support will do all we can to continue to provide help with any issues that may arrise, it is important to understand that in most cases any additional service packs or patches will not be released so we will only be able to help with known issues. Any new code-related incidents or issues due to new releases of third-party software (web browsers, Microsoft Office upgrades, etc.) will not be supported.

Peter Kreutlein

BPC 10.1 back end - Is it BI or BW?
Dear All,
In BPC 10.1's context, when we say the data is stored in the backend, is it BI or BW? I am confused with these terminologies. My understanding is... when we say BPC back end, it is BW 7.4. But, is it BW 7.4 or BI 7.4? Where can I check this version details?
Thank you.
Regards,
PeriPeri,
You can start here SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 10.1, version for SAP NetWeaver – SAP Help Portal Page
The install guide will give you all the information you need. Page 9 of the install guide:
BTW - I don't think 10.1 is GA yet, only Ramp-up customers and partners have access to it.

Migration from BPC 7.5 to BPC 10
Dear BPC Friends
As you know the end of mainstream maintenance for the version SAP BPC 7.5 MS is 31.03.2016.
Which will be the risk involved if we don't upgrade?
Because my company has been running a project to implement SAP ECC, SAP BW and SAP BO (the project started about three years ago and probably to complete the roll-up it will take about another 3 years) which are the benefits to migrate to version 10.1 for NW instead of 10 MS?
Which are the disavantages?
thanks
MicheleHi Michele,
The end of mainstream maintenance means there will be no further service packs or patches for BPC MS 7.5. Upgrading to BPC MS 10 or BPC NW 10.0/10.1 would be your three options.
I suggest speaking with a certified SAP consultant or partner to start planning now to determine what is the best option for you.
Thanks,
John -
Hello Experts,
We are currently at BPC MS v7.0. I've found the following info about support:
End of mainstream maintenance 31.03.2013
End of extended maintenance 31.03.2016
So, my question is: What is going to happen after 2013 with BPC for MS?
We are planning to upgrade to 7.5 eventually... Would BPC MS 7.5 be supported after 2013 or it would be under extended maintenance? Would we be forced to switch to NETWEAVER one day?
I've found this document: http://download.sap.com/download.epd?context=28C50F34DBC5B1739D53D0C969B0D364E06E399FA7A818D08B48EF091E468B491FB5D07984032689F051993248C4C11172D88EA07CBE2EAA
But it's not clear if that's about BPC... is BuisnessObject Planning and Consolidation the same as Business Planning and Consolidation?
Thanks in advance for any info.
Regards,
AkimAkim-
BPC 7.5MS is the next version of BPC after version 7MS and yes will have a longer lifecycle of support and maintenance. There is no plan to kill the MS version and force clients onto the Netweaver version.
And yes, SAP BusinessObjects Planning And Consolidation is the same thing as SAP BPC. When SAP purchased Outlooksoft and then Business Objects, Outlooksoft was renamed to BPC and was placed under the Business Objects side of the company. They have since consolidated the two companies further, and renamed it to SAP Business Planning and Consolidation.

I have seen that FMS 9.1 tax, legal and regulatory support is scheduled to end November 2015, resulting in the availability of extended support only after that time. Will we be able to obtain the 1099 patch for 2015 in December for FMS 9.1 as we have in past years?

Crystal Runtime 10.5 for Visual Studio 2008 - viewer/full version support
Hi - can reports developed in VS 2008 (CR basic 10.5) be run externally using a full or viewer version ? If so, is there a restriction on which versions can be used for this (2008 / 11 / 13 etc) and whether the version must be full vs viewer ?
The background is that we have an old asp.net 3.5 system that is being migrated from Windows 2008 / IIS 7 to Windows 2012 / IIS 8 - the app runs fine but it seems the 10.5 runtime is no longer supported. Recompilation using VS 2010 isn't an option so I was looking at client-side solutions if possible to run the reports outside of the .net app - preferably using a free viewer as the reports will not be re-designed.
I'm hoping this is a straightforward question but I've checked a few sites/forums and this isn't very clear. Grateful if someone can advise or point me to a site which clearly covers this.
Thanks.
tmdevI don't know if you are looking for a web or win viewer, but as you are mentioning servers, I assume you are looking for some sort of a web viewer(?). And there is no such thing. There is a Windows viewer:
http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-29774.
CR 10.5 is supported - will be until Dec. 31, 2018: SAP Crystal Products - End of Mainstream Maintenance Dates: Current Products
However there are no fixes planned. Additionally CR 10.5 does not support WIN 2012. CR 2008 (v. 12.x) is supported in VS 2008 and when updated to Service Pack 7, you will get support for WIN 2012. See SAP Crystal Reports 2008 SP7 for Windows - Supported Platforms.
So, in a nutshell; upgrade the app to CR 2008, SP 7 and all should be fine.

What can I do?
P.S. This situation is appered only with this versions of database and R/3 (sapdb 7.6 and R/3 4.7 - all is ok)Hello Elena,
where did you get that information?
If you look into PAM you can see that MaxDB version 7.6 is supported for 4.6C - with the SAP KERNEL 4.6D_EX2.
And in the download section for 4.6C installation CDs you can find a CD with MaxDB version 7.5. So I'd recommend to read the installation documentation again and check out what can be installed.
BTW: End of mainstream maintenance for 4.6C was 31.12.2006. Why do you install that version at all?

Hi,
I am trying to locate the SPS level of all the business packages and TREX available for Portal along with their end of mainstream maintenance. I have gone through the content portfolio section of SDN and also the release strategy and PAM on the market place and also on help portal but didn't find the relevant info. Can someone let me know where can I find it.
Thanks & Regards
MukeshHi Mukesh,
for TREX 7.1/7.0/6.1, OS information is available in PAM and for the release notes u need to rely on the central notes it self (Note 1003900 - TREX 7.1: Central note), I believe there is no consilidated way.
