BPC 7.5 MS - Integration Universe Designer - Access to properties values

Hello.
I am working with BPC 7.5 MS SP03, and I want to do some reports with Web Intelligence.
I installed the ODBO provider and I defined a Universe with Universe Designer. Now, my Universe has a class for every dimension of my AppSet, and I can do WebI reports with members of the dimensions and data. But what I want to do is to see
the properties values of the members in my BPC dimensions. For example, in BPC I have a dimension called Projects with several members (Proj1, Proj2, Proj3, etc). Each member has several properties (ID, NEWID, EVDESCRIPTION, PARENTH1, FORMULA, CLIENTID, CLIENTDESC, MANAGER). In WebI, I can only see the ID of the projects. How can I do a report filtering by any other property, like CLIENTID or MANAGER? Is this possible?

Hi,
I believe this feature is not available in BO XI 3.1 when trying to access BPC data.
The only possible reporting possibility in WEBI is to see BPC members per level (LEV1, LEV2, etc...). From my experience, I would say that there is no filterining on properties.
But I guess that in BO XI 4.0, integration with BPC data will be more user-friendly and will offer a lot of other features.

I am getting below error when trying to access Business Objects Universe Designer XI 3.1 SP2.
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
What would be the reason and how to over come onthe same please.

it could be anything
windows update
runtime framework update
patch deployment
but the warning is pretty clear, start over! it won't take 1/2 hour to get a nice clean SP04 build or other

CRM 2015 - Access product properties values

In CRM 2015, product catalogs were introduced with properties that were user defined. I need to access the properties of each product to include them in a workflow. Does anyone know how this can be achieved?

Are you are trying to send the attributes of the products on an email?
This is being captured in a new entity called "Property" where these attributes are stored. Unfortunately you will not be able to write a system workflow on this entity. You may have to handle this by writing a code
to achieve this.

URGENT: Connecting BPC 10.0 with BI4.0, with Universe Design Tool

Hi all,
I have quite an urgent question that I need some guidance from all you SAP gurus on!
Is it possible to connect BPC 10 to BI4 using Universe Design Tool? We are under the impression very few people have connected these pieces of software together, if at all. It is very important to a Project I am on at the moment as to whether it is possible so any advice would be very much appreciated.
So far we have done..
Software is installed - Universe Design Tool (UDT)
Logins have been created for BPC 10
Opened up UDT and go through the Wizard;
Connection name is BPC CCONNECTION
Select data access driver: Business Planning and Consolidation OLE DB for OLAP
Enter the server address for BPC 10 (This is the URL that we log in to the BPC Admin Console)
After we try to continue, we get the error as follows:

If you are trying to connect BPC 10 NW to BI 4.0 then I have some suggestions. We did this in our SAP EPM 10 training. In the Admin go to the model tab , select your model and edit it. Select the check box Use as a source. This creates a transient query in the backend.. Then we designed the connection in IDT (Information Design tool). Login to IDT and create a new project. Now Right click on the project and create a new OLAP connection. Select SAP BICS as driver selection. Provide the server details and user aunthetication. Select specify a cube in connection option. Now You can select your model <MODELNAME>_B folder and u will see one query with /CPMB/TQ_XXXX. Test your connection and publish your connection to repository . Now you can use this connection for creating Interactive Analysis (Webi Report). I am not sure about the reporting client you wish to use.

Error While Accessing Universe Designer

Hi All,
I am facing an strange issue - I have BO Installation on windows server - 2003.
As a client when iam trying to access the server from diffrent location i am able to access CMC and Polestar.
But When i am trying to access universe designer - it shows an error -
Cannot access Repository ( uSR0013)
[repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(Transport error: Communication failure.(FWM 00001)
(hr=#0x80042a01)
Any suggestion.
I am able to telnet my server ip with port 6400 and 8080.

I think there is some problem because of firewalls.
Could some one tell me what are the list of ports need to be opned for server client model.
i asked network team to open the ports 6400 -6410 only.
Do i need to open ports ??
My BO server installation is default and CMS is on - 6400. and i haven't configured anything else.
pls suggest the approach.

SAP Integration Kit doesnu00B4t see Universe Designer Installation

I installed BOE Enterprise Client Tools XI 3.1 on my machine and updated to most current SP and FP.
When I want to install SAP Integration Kit, I get the message "No Crystal Reports or Universe Designer found".
What can be the issue?

Not able to access Universe Designer

Hi,
I am facing an issue -
I am able to connect to CMC but when i try to logon to universe designer i get this error -
[repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(Unable to log on: Could not connect to server 10.191.100.199:6400. Please check that the server name is correct, and that the server is running.
(hr=#0x80042a01).
Its sure that server is running , and i am able to logon into CMC. But not in designer ?
What could be a possible cause ?

I have checked in CMC , all the services are running and all the server are up , with the Valid lisence keys.
From the error messgae pasted above - it says that

As CMC is working fine it means that server is running ....still its showing the same messgae.

Universe design for SAP BPC (MSAS cube)

During the designing of a Universe on top of a MSAS cube there is the moment I may select Dimensions & Hierarchies. Here there are ID's of my model, e.g. Accounts-Lev1, Time-Lev1, etc.
How do I get to see the descriptions of the levels in the Universe Designer?

Hi SR,
In some way is true what you think, is important to put effort and intelligence in design very well the Bex query also the BW solution.
But the effort is not only there, you can improve that with a good Universe creating MDX Measures, changing the BW names (Dimensions and measures) for other more comprehensives for the users, change and reorder the classes and dimensions to be more close to user concept, create new hierarchies and others.
Don't forget that the Universe is a semantic layer to hide complexity and is useful for:
- Map complex data into familiar business terms such as products, customers, and sales.
- Enable simple, intuitive, and self-guided data analysis.
- Guarantee single version of the truth (identical results) no matter what tool is used)
Some tips are:
You do not need a BE query for every report and you do not need a Universe for every existing BE query
Focus the implementation strategy on limiting the number of Bex queries and Universes that share common elements
Build a small set of Bex queries focusing on sharing common elements in a small number of Universes
Understand that primarily the WebI Query Panel definition influences how much data is retrieved from BW, and not the BE query design or the WebI Report layout, In some situations extremely large queries and universes can adversely affect performance
Removing / Hide Unnecessary u201CL00u201D Objects
Removing / Hide Unused or Redundant Detail Objects
Remove all prefixes « Lxx ». Copy the initial name in the Description of the object
Rename the attributes (Detail objects) when necessary : remove the suffixes when no Business signification
Optimizing Detail Object Syntax

Unable to find BW Query while creating connection with universe designer

Hi colleagues,
I've got BOE XI 3.1 SP2, Integration for SAP 3.1 SP2 and the following inssue )
Some of BW queries that were previously released for external access and succsefully used for WebI reports now cannot be find while creating a connection in universe designer. Those are still releasde for external access but I'm not able to find some of them in the list, tried search as well.
Has anybody faced the same problem?

How to run Integration Repository Designer

Hello,
I have installed NetWeaver 2004S SR2 ABAP+Java, Windows 2003 32-bit with MS SQL Server 2005. Did not install anything beyond that.
The goal for me is to create the connectivity between our own application and SAP NW with use of PI module.
Now, I'm trying to follow step-by-step guide "Step-By-Step Approach for Implementing XI" Scenarios(SAP on DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows) and at certain point they ask to open the Integration Repository Designer, which I cannot find on my system.
Questions:
1. Do I need to install anything beyond already installed components to get access to PI/XI design and runtime tools?
2. If not, how can I run this Integration Repository Designer?

After running the transaction mentioned, I just get the Windows Explorer popped up with the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\Sap\SapWorkDir"
Those are the files in this folder:
SAP_Cache_Sap\

No errors or any other messages in the SAP System window. Any suggestions?
Maybe I'm not good at terminology, but saying "...while installing XI/PI..." did you mean I need to install that separately from the installation I ran from the SAP Solution Manager disc, providing NW Kernel 7.0 as a part of that installation?

SSO does not work in Universe Designer

Hi,
I have a problem getting an error within Universe Designer the error is :
"DBD: Unable to connect to SAP BW server Incomplete logon data"
Installed below :
BOBJ XI 3.1 installed
SAP GUI 7.10
SAP Java Connector
SAP Integration Kit
All is run on the server machine.
SSO setup i CMS etc. and i works fine in the beginning and i can go into Universe Designer and create a SSO connection which responds etc. and i can create universes which is fine. I can go to webi and create an new report using the universe and select som measures and dimension and execute query, but it only works a couple of times then it starts to fails with an xml error. After that going to universe designer an into connection i cannot longer get in touch with my Bex query in SAP BW ! and that is where my problem allways ends, so now i cannot connect using SSO in Universe Designer.
Found technote 1250890 but it only says that i need to install integration kit on my client, but my installation is all i one and is installed.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated !

Business objects universe designer remote connectivity

Hi,
I am trying to access BO universe designer remotely. The ports 8080 and 6400 have been opened on the BO server remotely.
I am able to acess infoView and CMC on port 8080, however while accessing universe desinger on port 6400 using the system as <server>:6400 , username, password and authentication as Enterprise.
I get the error "Canot access repository (USR0013). [repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(Transport error: Communication failure.(FWM 00001)
(hr=#0x80042a01)"
Please respond if you've faced similar problem and the resolution.

Universe Designer: Error getting dimensions for cube

-Using Business Objects Edge 3.1 SP2
-SAP BW 7.0 (patch level 21)
This is quite odd behavior that seemed at first an authorization issue, but now I am uncertain.
-Attempting to create a Universe based on a Infocube.
-Universe connection is created with no problem using user 'ABC'
-Using Universe Designer on the BOBJ server, no issues creating the Universe
-Using Universe Designer on a users desktop, the Universe fails to create with error message:
A runtime exception has occurred. (Error getting dimensions for cube $0SD_C03 (catalog $INFOCUBE): Unknown error)
-Change the connection to use user 'DEF', the Universe creates just fine on the desktop
-Behavior is not exclusive to one BW object, happens no matter what 'ABC' tries to access from this desktop
So, at first I am thinking authorizations, but then the universe create would fail on the server as well. If it is environmental, what could possibly affect this behavior.
Any ideas before I submit to SAP Support?

Oddly enough it was an authorization issue.
When authenticating against the SAP source system from Universe Designer on either the workstation or server, both traces show a missing authorization for RFC_NAME = RASB
This setting is not found in referenced SAPu2019s guides or whitepapers under suggested authorizations for Universe create. What remains unexplained is why using the same credentials from 2 different computers had a different response.

AS/400 Member Tables and Universe Design

Greetings!
Anyone have experience dealing with AS/400 "member" tables in Universe Design? Is there any special trick to importing them to the UNV or is that even required for a report query to access them?
