BPC 7.5 MS SP6 EVDRE query

Hi All,
I am trying to build a report where I am facing the foll. issues :
        1) How can we hard-code any words in a report or inp. schedule, for ex. "TOTAL SUMMARY" .
        2) How can we calculate the totals ( we can't calculate by using parent(hier) as they r not immediate members)?
        3) How to do subtraction? ( A-B)?

Hi Roberto,
Thanks for ur reply.  I've done the same thing many times, but once I press "Expand all", the cell becomes blank.
Ex:   I hve Account in rows, Time in columns
                                              2011            2010
       Total Funds
         Funds from S&co.
            A111                         350              300
            A112                         650              550
                                             950               850
            B111                      + 100               90
                                             1050             940
        Funds Appl.
           C111                           300             0(zero)
           D111                           400             375
           E111                         - 150             270
                                              250             105
1) Consider the above report as my scenario. The wordings which I've mentioned are jus like headers which r not present in dim.  members, so I hve to insert them (type manually).  But how ?
2) How to get that total 950 ? I hve used the function =subtotal(), but on "expand all", its again clearing to blank spaces. And one more issue is, how do we calculate 1050, coz 1st 950 shud b calculated, then based on it, it sums up with 100 to get 1050.
3) How to do the above subtraction ?
Hope I m clear vth my explanation.
Thanks & Regards,
DSR

  • BPC 7.0 MS upgrade - EVDRE:OK not displaying in templates and reports

    Hello again,
A strange behaviour in EVDRE templates and reports is noticed:
    Version - BPC 7.0 MS
EVDRE templates and reports (built in 5.1, working fine) are migrated along with the appset in BPC 7.0.
Found that the EXPANDALL doesn't work neither shows error or hangs. But the reports are refreshed for CV selection.
While checking the control panel, noticed that the 'EVDRE:OK' is missing, cell is blank/ orange shaded, No EVDRE errors.
This applies for the sample EVDRE templates as well as complex reports with multiple EVDREs.
If we logout and re-launch the BPC Excel / Reports again, it is working as usual.
The occurance of this behaviour is quite frequent or we missing any setting.
Does anybody encountered this and throw some light to troubleshoot.
    Thanks.
    Warm Regards
    Uma

    Hi Wellington,
Have tried those options.. its unstable behaviour.
Noticed that this issue happen only when we switch over to multiple BPC enviroments. Working on DEV - Excel templates and switch over the QA or PRD environment with the same template open...
The issue happens.. EVDRE:OK doesn't show, in the cell A1, click F2 , we can see this formula =EVDRE($B$57,A6:B13,A19:B25) and hitting ENTER , responds nothing. A1 cell is blank.
WorkAround :: I shut down EXCEL, relaunch again.
I have experienced this only in BPC 7.0.112, earlier 5.X no issues.
    Experts,
Please confirm whether this is a product bug.

  • Re: SAP BPC 7.0 - Copy an EvDRE function

    Hello,
I have a scenario to share with you all. I am designing a comparison report; year to year, month to month. I created a EvBET function. It is good to get this function copy to all range of cells. Is there an option to copy EvBET function in BPC 7.0?
    Please share your views?
    Thanks in advance

For this type of 3-column comparison, you want to disable the column expansion.
Then manually adjust your colKeyRange (inserting columns, or modifying the EVRNG formula to include 3 columns).
If you just want this report to be static in time, and always show those 3 specific months, then just type in the member IDs.
Much more likely, you want it dynamic, so decide which time period should come from the user's current view. Let's say you want "this month, last month, and this month last year" In that case, for your example 2008.MAR is "this month." So in one column, set a formula = the cell in your pagekeyrange (or anywhere else you want to build it) containing the EVCVW formula for your time dimension.
Then in the second column, use EVTIM to retrieve the member ID from one month prior.
And in the third column, EVTIM for the member ID one year prior.
Consider carefully how the report should work, if the user selects a quarter or year in the current view. It's possible to configure EVTIM so it always refers back 1 period (or 12 periods) at the same level as the current view. But you'll get errors if you build the report to go back 12 periods, and the user selects a year, if your time dimension doesn't go all the way back to 1996. Most likely, you'll want to show last year, regardless of the time level the user selects.

  • BPC 7.5 MS SP6, OLAP Updating Issue

    Hello All,
We have recently upgraded from 5.1 MS to 7.5 MS.
We are having processing issues. If I try to process a simple dimension it could take over an hour to update OLAP for just one application.
Can anyone suggest where I should start looking?
    Thank you!
    Mariann

I think more detail is needed to try and understand the problem.
    1. Was there new hardware purchased for the upgrade? What Server OS version and RAM amount?
    2. What version of SQL are you using, including Service Pack and Cumulative Update level.
    3. What version of BPC 7.5 do you have? SP07 is the most current update.
    4. What kind of configuration do you have? Separate SQL and App/Web Servers? How much RAM is on the SQL server?
    5. Was this a self-install or did SAP Consulting or a Partner do the install?

I'm having a similar problem with 10.5.2 Leopard server and client -- no Tiger involved.
I have the green light on the login screen and am able to log in as an OD administrator, but regular OD users are rejected with a login window shake. I never specified any home directories because they were auto-generated on machines locally when I logged in with the OD administrator.
Apple phone support were able to duplicate my problem and had me do an Enterprise Data Capture. Apple engineers were also able to duplicate my problem. Here is some of what phone support emailed me:
+I got a reply from engineering. They said they were able to duplicate the issue with a 10.5 up to a 10.5.2 client with no home directory specified. The only current workaround is to set up an automount location for home directories and specify a home location place for the users. The clients do not have to be bound to the server, they just need to have a home folder directory specified.+
+Engineering is aware of the issue and are working on it. For now this is the only workaround we have.+
I haven't had a chance to try this Apple workaround, but maybe it will help you.

  • Number of records being pulled from OLAP/ SQL in BPC 5.1

    Hello BPC gurus,
We are experience performance issues with EVDRE.basically the report errors out and the error log states " Decompressing request failed". We are in BPC 5.1
We were trying to understand how many number of records the evdre is pulling from from OLAP / database  so that we can look into some fine tuning opportunities of the EVDRE.
In the BI world we have RSRT where in which we can view the number of records from database, number of records transferred. Is there any such feature in BPC, where in which we can information on record counts.
We have turned on the error logs , but none of them give us an idea of the record count.
    Appreciate your help in advance.
    Thanks
    sai

    Hi Sorin,
Thank you very much for getting to me on my clarificaiton on the record count. As per your suggestion, we have already looked into this OSS note, and changed the entries in the table. After making these changes, the queries that normally execute in 1 min, now take 30 minutes to complete. Believe this was the observation also in some of the threads related to this issue.
You had mentioned that there might be an issue with the communication between application server  and BPC Client. or SQE generating MDX query.  Can you please give us some pointers on how to investigate this. Have turned on error logs evdataserver_debug.txt & EVDATASERVER_TRACE.txt on the file server,  but i believe there is an OSS note 1311019, that talks about these logs not workign with SP9.
If you can guide us in the folllowing that would be helpful
1  how to bebug this issue that we are currently facing.
    2. How does the concept of compressing / decompressing work in BPC.
    Thanks

  • 7.5NW SP6 LDEP

    On BPC 7.5 Netweaver SP6; Microsoft 2003
We recently applied SP6 and noticed LDEP does not work as expected. We have been able to replicate the issue across multiple applications and application sets (including AppShell) for multiple dimensions with more than 3 levels.
    To replicate:
    1. Choose a dimension which has more than 3 levels
    2. Create an EVDRE with the dimension from step 1 in the row expansion
    3. Update memberset for the dimension in step 1 to be LDEP(3),PARENTAFTER
The expected result is for the children to appear before the parents/roll-ups.
NOTE: We did not test this prior to applying SP6. If a rollup has only 2 levels then LDEP works as expected even if the memberset is LDEP(3).
Has anyone seen the same behavior? If so, any workarounds?
    Thanks in advance,
    Garvi

    Hi Raju,
Here's an example, if the dimension roll-up is:
    CE0001000 - Total Costs
       CE0004000 - Personal Costs
          CE0004010 - Bonus Expense
          CE0004110 - Test Account
             CE0004111 - Test Account 1
             CE0004112 - Test Account 2
          CE0004020 - Wages and Salaries
          CE0004030 - Social Contributions
The above is based off of ApShell, added in a third level - Test Accounts.
    The report output is:
    CE0004010 - Bonus Expense
    CE0004110 - Test Account
    CE0004111 - Test Account 1
    CE0004112 - Test Account 2
    CE0004020 - Wages and Salaries
    CE0004030 - Social Contributions
    CE0004000 - Personal Costs
    CE0001000 - Total Costs
The expected report output - CE0004110 - Test Account" is displayed after CE0004111 - Test Account 1 and CE0004112 - Test Account 2:
    CE0004010 - Bonus Expense
    CE0004111 - Test Account 1
    CE0004112 - Test Account 2
    CE0004110 - Test Account
    CE0004020 - Wages and Salaries
    CE0004030 - Social Contributions
    CE0004000 - Personal Costs
    CE0001000 - Total Costs
Let me knwo if the above makes sense.
    Thanks,
    Garvi

  • Request mechanism to retrieve usage and performance statistics in BPC?

    Hi BPC Gurus,
We have just completed rolling out BPC 5.1 and were interested in monitoring the health & user adoption (e.g. number of users logged in, how many times they logged in, what kind of reports they ran, how long the EVDRE query for those reports took etc).
I have scoured through all the available tables for the Appset & the audit database at the SQLServer level and could not find any table that holds information around this. The only information I found was around the logged in statistics for Administrators via table tblLoggedIn and the statistics of who keyed in data using Input templates via the audit tables.
Is there some roundabout way to get this information at least something to the tune of who logged in and when?
On the BW side, there is a rich set of information through the use of pre-delivered Statistics cube that provides myriad details which can be used to monitor the health and usage of the system. Are there plans to include this kind of statistical information in BPC 7.0?
Your help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Abhay Shanbhag

Yes, BPC 7.0 has a statistics mechanism.

  • EVDRE reporting not stable: "hiding columns" & applying datarange formula"

    Hi,
we use BPC 5.1. (SP6) With several EVDRE reports we experience that our excell session sometimes stops working, typically when changing the CV and expanding again. At the bottom of the excell we see the statements:
"hiding columns" or also "applying datarange formulas".
I wait for more than 10 minutes, but nothing changes and I can't do anything anymore and have to abort excell with CTRL + ALT + DEL ...
Does anyone experience the same problems? (We work with Office 2007)
    regards
    Dries

    Hi,
I cannot test with Office 2003 since I don't have it installed ..., I typically have it with EVDRE reports, not with schedules created from a template. Numbers of members to be expanded, maximum 10, for which 10 accounts are displayed (so max 100 lines) ... We do not have many data in our system yet, lets say 20.000 records max.

  • Bpf with report bex with variable BPC Embedded 10.1

    Hi BPC Friends
I am creating a BPF with BPC 10.1 Unified.
I have attached at this BPF a BPC report based on a Bex Query with a variable for the company code.
The driving dimension of the BPF  is  the company code so I have selected some company codes.
I have created the BPF Istance and I have assigned at the different company codes the proper users as performers.
    The problem is this:
The user run the bpf istance for its company but  the report having the variable for the company code allow to the user to select also a different company code.
I was expecting that the variable for the company code was locked for the company code assigned to the user
    Thanks
    Michele

    Hi Michele
In the above scenario, from what I was able to understand, you have defined a BPF, the activity within the BPF opens a workbook, the workbook is using a BEx query that has already been defined. The BEx query has a variable which prompts the user for values for company code.
The authorization variable will populate the BEx company code variable with the values that the user has been allowed to see.
For example: If the user has a BW analysis authorization that only allows them to see company code 1000, 1003. When the user executes the report in Analysis For Office, the prompt in the workbook should only display the values 1000 and 1003. (Meaning that the user only has access to 1000,1003 to choose from)
I don't understand where the performer is a prompt?.
The data access profile is typically used to restrict access to the data (restrict what you can see in your report). The BEx authorization variable will not be driven by the Data Access Profile, this will be driven by the BW Analysis Authorization. (I say this under possible correction)
Do you want the prompt in the workbook to display the performer of the BPF activity ? If so, I don't understand the requirement or why you would want to achieve this.
Please could you provide more context,
    Hope this helps,
    Kind Regards
    Daniel

  • Automate data load from BPC cube to BW cube

    Hi Gurus,
I've got all my budgeting & forecasting data in BPC cube. Now I need to load it to a BW cube and combine with Actuals in another BW cube through Multiprovider and build reports on the multiprovider.
    My question is:
What is the best way to automate the loading process of BPC cube data to BW cube ??
I should also be able to load the property values of BPC dimensions to the BW info objects.
    The methods I followed are:
    1. Run "Export" data package and load BPC data to a CSV file and run BW DTP/infopackage to process the CSV file into BW cube. Problem with this is - I canot automate these two steps, and even if I did, I cannot export property values to a flat file.
    2. Build transformations directly from BPC cube to an Infosource and from Infosource to BW cube. Problem with this is - in the transformations I cannot use the rule: "Read Master Data". I may have to write a routine, but my ABAP is not good enuf.
Please help with an alternative solution
    Thanks,
    Venkat

Thanks for the reply. I know I will have more options if I'm BPC 7.5 NW. But I'm on BPC 7.0 NW.
I managed to pull the attribute values of BPC dimensions using routines. But still it's risky because the tech names of BPC objects may change if one modifies the dimensions or run optimization.
It's a shame SAP haven't provided a robust solution to load BPC cube data to BW cube data.
I don't want to load BW cube data to BPC cube and depend on EVDRE reports for my 'Plan vs Actual' reports. I (and end users) always want to lean towards BEx reports.

  • Content Library / Web Interface - access issue

    BPC Microsoft 7.5 SP6
    Windows 2008 R2 server
We have puublished an Excel template as an HTML page to allow (web only users) access to a menuing system and have subsequent access to their individual reports in PDF format. The menu page comes up without errors but I encounter the error "You don't have access" when clicking on a menu option (cells within template). The cells contain an Excel Hyperlink function in conjunction with a EVBNV function to launch this report. (No BPC or excel errors exist within template)
We have created a virtual directory for BPC application in addition to Reports and ReportServer for Reporting Services. We have modified the Site Settings and Folder Setttings in Reporting Services configuration to allow web users to correct role access.Users can access Reporting services Report url without a problem but the web interface does not want to launch/retrieve a pdf file. We have the correct BPC task capabilities and task profiles assigned, insuring they can access and use the content library.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

It appears there is an issue with EVBNV formula and its ability to dynamically pass parameters in HTML format.

  • Multiple Accounts in data file

    Hello Experts,
    I am using BPC NetWeaver 7.0 SP6
Has anyone discovered a way to import data form a delimited file where account data is stored in their own column?  Or are we stuck with the verticle approach?
For instance, I want to import data for multiple accounts from a file that looks like this:
    CATEGORY     DEPARTMENT     TIME     DATASRC     ACCOUNT1     ACCOUNT2     ACCOUNT3     ACCOUNT4     ACCOUNT5
    ACTUAL     123     2009.JAN     GLSYS     25     700          566
    ACTUAL     123     2009.JAN     GLSYS     97     568          544     9
    ACTUAL     123     2009.JAN     GLSYS     257          897     488     2
    ACTUAL     456     2009.FEB     GLSYS          958               6
    ACTUAL     456     2009.FEB     GLSYS
    ACTUAL     456     2009.FEB     GLSYS     365     12300          1200     14
I know you can use MVAL for the multiple time periods, but I do not think that will work for accounts.
Any assistance anyone can provide would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Mark Glowczewski

    Hello,
    Thank you for your response.
I understand I need to use a transformation file in order to point data into the right direction.  However, I want to run a single import and have it import multiple accounts rather than multiple imports, one for each account.
I do not think this is possible.
    Thanks,
    Mark
