BPC Client Tools Dependency on Domain

Hello Experts,
We are currently evaluating a BPC solution for a client, where the client's requirement is such that some of the users of the BPC system might not have a domain login ID, or they might not at all login to the domain where the .NET server is installed. In such a scenario, is it possible for the users to access the BPC system??
Thanks and Sincere Regards,
Amitabha

Yes,
just in case if you create for these users local users into .Net server.
Otherwise is not possible.
In 7.5 we will be able to use CMS from BO which means we wil be able to use any kind of LDAP users not just users from MS active directory.

  • BPC Client tool

I am new to BPC ... Where can I download the BPC client tool to connect to server.  Do you need a GUI client or is it a web based client similar to Visual Composer?
    Thanks

    Hi,
There 2 clients for SAP BPC NW.
They are both available on the BPC Web portal (http:
    SAPBPCWEBSERVER\osoft)
From the BPC portal you will find a link to client download page (don't remember its name).
Note : As you will be authenticated on IIS, your domain account must be recorded in SAP BPC security first. Ask your SAP BPC administrator. You also must be local administrator privilege on your computer in order to install them.
The first client is the "Admin" client : It will allow you to manage Appset and application / dimensions / security ... etc.
The second client is a Microsoft Office plugin : It will allow you to access SAP BPC appset within Excel.
Both requires some technical prerequisites on your computer. Check the online guide on SAP Marketplace or run the client diagnostic tool from the SAP BPC portal page.
    Good luck and welcome.

  • BPC Client tool configuration for multiple appset selection

    Hi Expert,
is there any way to configure BPC client to select multiple applications simulteniously instead of closing one application to select another application, nothing but multiple BPC sessions at a time like SAP GUI sessions.
    thanks
    Venkata

    Hi,
I guess you are talking about BPC excel. You cant have different sessions in BPC. If you open a report1 from application1 and then if you want to open report2 from application2, you need to change the CV. Once the report2 has been opened in application2, the CV of report1 will still show application1. However, if you want to refresh report1, it will access application2. The CV of the last opened report holds valid for all the previously opened reports.
Having said this, we do have a workaround for the above problem. When you open report1 from application1, go to workbook options and click on "save the active session CV with this workbook". Then you can change your CV to application2 to open report2. And again do the same thing for report2 as well. With this, both the reports will work in their own region. However, you wont be able to change the CV. Even if you do change the CV, the report will not be refreshed based on the new CV. It will still work for the saved CV.
    Hope this helps.

  • Edit .app file in excel and then open it in client tool?

    Dear Gurus,
I am very new to HFM and would like to know what practice a HFM consultant will use in editing the metadata.
My boss recommend me to edit metadata( .app file) in excel and save it into a format that can be read and opened by client tool.
However, I find no way to achieve this.
How can i edit metadata in excel and then open it in HFM client tool?

    Good morning,
I think the best way to do it it's working with macros. You can work with an Excel file and then, convert it to the .txt format by using macros. A .txt is more suitable to be later worked as .app.
However, you can also do it by using Copy/Paste.
    1. Open the .app in a Note Pad, so you can work with .txt file.
    2. Copy the .txt data in the Excel file.
    3. Then, it's just working with Data > Text to Columns to format the file. Then, you can work in Excel.
Then, you will have to put the Excel file in a .txt, so you will have to follow the data files requirements. You still can do this manually, but you will have to pay attention to the format (FILE_FORMAT=11.1.2, !VERSION=11.1.3609, !CUSTOM_ORDER=Custom1;Custom2;Custom3;Custom4, !APPLICATION_SETTINGS, !CURRENCIES, etc., as it is the Admin Guide). It will also depend on the HFM version you're working with, specially when working with customs.
I received a good document about a couple of months ago that can be helpful, so if you send me an email address, I'll forward it.

  • Installing Oracle 8i client tools on Windows 2K Advanced Server SP2

I am having issues with installing Oracle 8i client tools on W2K Advanced Server SP2. The CD I have is labeled Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition, Release 3 (8.1.7) Win NT/2000 CSI# 2224188. The error message I get is that a dependency exist on having ORACLE.SWD.JRE 1.1.8.10.0 installed and the universal installer cant find it. The disk has a folder named ORACL.SWD.JRE with a subfolder named 1.1.7.30 which leads me to believe that the version of the file that shipped with this media is version 1.1.7.30.
    Questions:
    1. Why would Larry ship a CD with the wrong version of a file...just venting.
    2. Where do I get the correct version?
    3. How do I install it?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Oracle8i on PIV
If you have Pentium IV do following: find file symcjit.dll file in the oracle installation folder and rename it to symcjit.old.
try to run setup.exe located in the install/win32 folder.
    Oracle9i on W2K
Install service pack 2 or higher
Virtual memory between 800 and 900 MB ( Recommended )
if for any cause setup.exe does not make anything,
try to make click on autorun.exe

  • Client Tools

I am new to Oracle (coming from Sybase/SQL Server bg)
I am used to using nice Windows client tools to write SQL.
Does Oracle have an equivalent or do most people use the (to me) primitive command-line interface?
    Thanks

There's a wide variety of tools depending on your environment. If you're in Windows, you should have SQLPLUSW, which is does exactly what you describe. You can also use text editors, and you can set the editor to use by saying SET _EDITOR='path+editor' in a startup script for your session. Hope that helps.

If your only tool is a hammer, all problems look like nails.
Depending on the task, I use the following, preference in the order listed
    - sqlplus
    - SQLDeveloper
    - dbcontrol
    - SQLNavigator

  • BO client tools

    Hello experts,
One of our projects in our company needs BO client tools including crystal reports and xcelsius. Our client already has the servers package installed. But we cannot access it as we do not have client tools.
    Our requirements are basically to:
    - View and change designs of BO reports( crystal, WebI, xcelsius)
    Our questions are:
    - Can we buy only the client tools? Will it suit our requirements listed above?
    - Do the below stated software packages include only client tools or both?
SAPCrystal Reports 2008 INTL WIN 3-9 NUL
SAPCrystal Reports 2008 INTL WIN NUL License
BA&T SAP BusinessObjects BI Suite (user)
-What would be the best package suited to our requirements for BO Xcelsius?
Any information on the above would be very much appreciated. We have raised this query with SAP as well but there is no response so far.
    Kind regards,
    Minuj
    SAP BI consultant

    hi
If you have purchased the server -- it is likely that you have the client licenses -- check with the person who was involved with making the purchase in your company.
For Xcelsius -- it depends upon your needs -- here is a short summary
u2022 Xcelsius Present enables users to create models with Microsoft Excel data.
u2022 Xcelsius Engage enables users to create models and connect them to a single external data sources.
u2022 Xcelsius Engage Server enables users to create models, connect them to multiple external data sources, and deploy them in a portal environment.
u2022 Xcelsius Enterprise enables users to create models and deploy them in a BusinessObjects Enterprise or SAP NetWeaver BW environment

  • Cannot install BPC Client

    Hi all
I am trying to install a BPC client both admin and office but i am having problems.
When i run Client diagnostics, it says that your computer has met all requirements. Please wait while BPC Administration software is downloaded.
but when i start the client download, system prompts me to Login to BPC server, Uname, PW, Domain. i enter the admin ID i used to install BPC, but i get  LOGIN FAILED, DO YOU WANT TO RETRY?  i have tried loging in using other accounts i created during BPC installation but failed.
What ID is BPC looking for??
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi all,
I am using BPC 7 for MS.
I able to login the BPC launch page, Run client diagnostics etc..
When i click BPC for office installation or BPC Administration Installation, it prompts me to enter login details. i enter the admin user i used to install BPC or the user i used to login BPC launch page, but fails.
Does the client installation really require you to enter login details? Also, i tried to change the login credentials in SERVER MANAGER.  still the same result.  what other areas should i check for the user credentials?
    Hope u can help

  • Installing Informatica powercenter 9.0.1HF2 client tools on Linux 64 bit

    Hi all,
I'm building OBIA 7963 on Linux x86-64but server.
do we have Informatica powercenter client tools installables for Linux 64bit? if not please guide me how to proceed for this.
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hi Ram
please follow the below procedure to install the informatica in LINUX
PowerCenter - Installation and Configuration (9.0.1 for OEL Linux 64Bit)
This article talk about the installation of PowerCenter from Informatica on:
    •     Oracle Entreprise Linux 64 bit version 5 Update 5
    •     Oracle Database 11gR2
After you complete the installation and configuration process, you have to log in to the Administrator tool to create and configure the following services:
    •     PowerCenter Repository Service
    •     PowerCenter Integration Service
    Oracle Database
    parameter
Set the open_cursors parameter to 1000
    SQL> SHOW parameter open_cursor;
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    open_cursors integer 300
    SQL> ALTER system SET open_cursors=1000;
    System altered.
    SQL> ALTER system SET open_cursors=1000 SCOPE=BOTH;
    System altered.
    SQL> SHOW parameter open_cursors;
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    open_cursors integer 1000
    Repository Account
At least two database user accounts are required to host this repository :
    •     POW_REP for the repository Database
    •     POW_DOM from the domain Configuration Database
with the CONNECT, RESOURCE, and CREATE VIEW privileges.
For Oracle, you must perform the following instruction :
CREATE USER POW_REP IDENTIFIED BY POW_REP
    DEFAULT tablespace users
    TEMPORARY tablespace temp
    quota unlimited ON users;
    GRANT CONNECT, resource, CREATE VIEW TO POW_REP;
CREATE USER POW_DOM IDENTIFIED BY POW_DOM
    DEFAULT tablespace users
    TEMPORARY tablespace temp
    quota unlimited ON users;
    GRANT CONNECT, resource, CREATE VIEW, SELECT ANY dictionary TO POW_DOM;
The grant “select dictionary privilege” to the user POW_DOM is only needed to verify the parameter Open_Cursor during the prerequisite check.
    Repository Tablespace
Set the storage size for the tablespace to a small number to prevent the repository from using an excessive amount of space.
Also verify that the default tablespace for the user that owns the repository tables is set to a small size. The following example shows how to set the recommended storage parameter for a tablespace named POWERCENTER_DAC.
ALTER TABLESPACE "POWERCENTER_DAC" DEFAULT STORAGE ( INITIAL 10K NEXT 10K MAXEXTENTS UNLIMITED
    PCTINCREASE 50 );
    Operating System
    Login as root
    Processor
Verify that the process match the software (x86_64)
    [root@di-obia-01 ~]# uname -p
    x86_64
    [root@di-obia-01 ~]# uname -orv
    2.6.18-194.el5 #1 SMP Mon Mar 29 22:10:29 EDT 2010 GNU/Linux
    Temporary Disk Space Requirements
The installer writes temporary files to the hard disk. When the installation completes, the installer deletes the temporary files and releases the disk space.
    Installer UNIX      1 GB
    Informatica Services UNIX      2 GB
Verification of the temporary space with the df commando: Linux - disk free command (df)
    [root@di-obia-01 ~]# df -h /tmp
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
    77G 16G 58G 22% /
    User Account
On UNIX, create a user account specifically to run the Informatica daemon.
    [root@di-obia-01 ~]# /usr/sbin/useradd powercenter
    [root@di-obia-01 ~]# id powercenter
    uid=502(powercenter) gid=506(powercenter) groups=506(powercenter)
    [root@di-obia-01 ~]# passwd powercenter
    Changing password for user powercenter.
    New UNIX password:
BAD PASSWORD: it is WAY too short
    Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully.
    Port
Verify that the port numbers are available on the machines where you install Informatica Services.
    [root@di-obia-01 ~]# netstat -tulpn|grep 6005
The installer validates the port numbers that you specify to ensure that there will be no port conflicts in the domain.
    Environment Variables
Use LANG and LC_ALL to set the UNIX code page for the installer.
    File Descriptor
Informatica service processes can use a large number of files. Set the Linux - File Descriptor limit per process to 3000 or higher.
In the file /etc/security/limits.conf, add this line:
    # PowerCenter
    powercenter hard nofile 3001
    powercenter soft nofile 2500
And verify with the ulimit function logged as the powercenter system user account:
    [powercenter@di-obia-01 ~]$ ulimit -Hn
    3001
Note:The limit is set to 3001 to prevent an error with the value 300 during the prerequisites check
    Installation directory and Permission
As root, create the installation base directory:
    mkdir -p /powercenter/9.0.1
    chown -R powercenter:powercenter /powercenter
    chown -R powercenter:powercenter /powercenter/9.0.1
    chmod -R 775 /powercenter
    chmod -R 775 /powercenter/9.0.1
As the installer (powercenter), copy the file to a tmp directory, unzip and untar it:
    [powercenter@di-obia-01 powercenter901]$ unzip V26109-01.zip
    Archive: V26109-01.zip
    inflating: 901HF2_Server_Installer_linux-x64.tar
    [powercenter@di-obia-01 powercenter901]$ tar -xf 901HF2_Server_Installer_linux-x64.tar
Change the permission of the file install.sh to execute
    chmod -R 744 /tmp/powercenter901/install.sh
    Server
    Pre-Installation System Check
To verify whether a machine meets the system requirements for an Informatica installation, run the Pre-Installation System Check Tool (i9Pi) before you start the installation process.
You can find the i9Pi tool in the following directory: <InstallerExtractDirectory>/i9Pi
    [powercenter@di-obia-01 i9Pi]$ ./i9Pi.bin

  • Https call from SAP SOAP client tool

    Hi,
in order to call a webservice via https using the SAP SOAP client tool, I've done the following:
    1. The Client cert field filled with my personal certificate from IE (pcert.pfx)
    2. The Trust store field left as it was (cacerts file of the jre).
When calling the service I am getting
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found
Very likely this is caused by setting 2.
Could anybody advise how to get an X.509 certificate of trusted root CAs? Any chance to export from IE or would one have to get that from a CA? File types required are ppfx or p12, which is strange since these contain private keys.
    Much appreciated.
    Rene Funke

    Hi Rene,
You need to include the full certificate chain in the p12 file. i.e. private cert and root CA cert.  IE will not export the full certificate path with the private certificate unless it was imported into IE with this flag set. You could use Firefox to generate the pks12 file. It will include the full certificate path.
This private certificate (p12 file) should then be added to the truststore in XI.
Also, .p12 (pkcs#12) file format defines a file format commonly used to store private keys with accompanying public key certificates - not just private keys.
    Hope this helps.

We are using SAP BI BO Integration Kit (BO XI 3.1, SAP BI 7.0) & able to use SAP BI Queries with WebI, Xcelsius etc.
For a user group, we would be providing only Infoview access (using SAP Authentication). This means we would not want to install any BO Client Tools, SAP GUI or SAP Integration Kit Client, on user desktop.
We are faced with a issue - How does the user change password from Infoview (this is an SAP BI User ID used to login from Infoview).
Initial Password of SAP BI User cannot be changed from Infoview, since it doesnot prompt for changing the Initial Password.
Any ideas how to handle this situation.
    regards,
    Rajesh K Sarin

    Hi Erwin,
no. Also within BI4 you are not able to change your SAP password.
The Workaroung of Ingo is very suitable using SAP GUI for HTML.

  • SAP BPC 7.5 SP3 and Citrix Entering Data through BPC Client and Citrix

    Hello BPC experts,
my client is using SAP BPC 7.5 SP3 in combination with Citrix. We are having problems now, while entering data through the BPC Client (installed on BPC Server) and the BPC Client (running on Citrix).
When we enter data through the BPC Client (Server) and expand the sheet, we can only see the data that we entered through the BPC client (Server). When entering data through the BPC Client (Citrix), we can see only the data we enter through the BPC Client (Citrix).
The database, however, saves both entries correctly. For test purposes we created a test report which shows both entries correctly in the BPC Client on the server and on Citrix.
Does anyone have an idea what can be wrong with our system? We tried to create an EvDRE log File for this BPC version as well, but failed. Maybe one of you already did that and can help me with this.
    Thanks in advance!

You can greatly improve your chance of receiving a helpful answer to your question if you state the version (MS or NW) of BPC which you are using.
Also notice the sticky [note|Please do not post BPC, SSM or FI/CO questions here!; at the top of this forum whereby we announced new dedicated forums for BPC which are the proper place to post your questions regarding BPC in the future to be able to reach the right audience for your question.

  • Management and maintanence of 2008r2 developments with 2012 client tools

    Hi eb
I need to manage and maintane sql server 2008r2 developments like databases, ssis packages, ssrs reports, ssas native cubes
and at the same time start developping in 2012 tools for 2012 servers with thier own version of client tools.
    Questions:
Can 2008r2 and 2012 client tools co-exist on the same development machine?
Are there any known issues with development of any of the sql server 2008r2 components after instalation of the 2012 client components?
I guess it is not possible to uninstall the 2008r2 client tools alltogther because managing 2008r2 developments from within 2012 client tools would automatically upgrade them to 2012 version (as was the case with the 2005-2008 versions before)?
Last and not list do 2012 client tools require windows 7 OS?
    TIA for your attention
    Rea

    >>>Can 2008r2 and 2012 client tools co-exist on the same development machine?
Yes, they can , but you can develop SSIS 2012  to work against SS2008R2

  • Clients can't rejoin domain after server clean install

Hello, I've got an issue with having client computers rejoin the domain after reinstalling the server software. Another post I read suggested saving the plist files to get the settings the same, but I need to reconfigure manually to eliminate some other problems we've been having.
We've got an Xserve running 10.4.8 with a mix of XP and Tiger clients all authenticating with the server. Our XP clients have remote profiles converted to local and our Tiger clients use mobile accounts. Generally things were running OK, but we kept having some authentication issues and have SMB crashes. In reviewing our log files it was suggested that our Open Directory was messed up (probably during our upgrade from 10.3 to 10.4) and that a clean install was the best course of action. The server has been running 24x7 for over 3 years without any signifigant maintenance, so this seemed like a good idea.
Everything was going great. I did the clean install and had DNS and DHCP configured and working, then started setting up Open Directory as the PDC and Windows Services as the Primary WINS. I had intended to recreate the user accounts because I didn't want to reintroduce problems by restoring the settings, however when I added one account and tested logging in on a XP machine it couldn't authenticate even though the domain name and user name was the same as before (short names too). On a whim, I moved the computer from the domain to WORKGROUP and then rejoined the (new) domain. Upon login it created a new roaming profile named user.domain instead of using the other account already there. On the XP client in accounts, the old profile showed up as unknown. I then went to a Mac and tried to log in and had similiar issues not finding the authenticating server.
After pulling my hair out this evening and realizing that there was no way I was going to have the office operation in the morning, I did a full restore from backup and pretended like I hadn't just wasted my weekend. After I got the server running, I was able to get my client machines to see the domain again and all is as it was.
Soooo, now the question is how do I create a clean installation with newly created user accounts and get the client computers to recognize the domain server as the same old one? Is there a hidden domain ID or something that is telling the client computers that it isn't the same domain or LDAP server? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    xserve G4 & XRaid   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Sorry, to clarify I did not want to use the archive & restore because I didn't want to reintroduce the errors I was trying to eliminate. I setup the Open Directory as a PDC from scratch and then ran into the client authtenication issue. In a desperate attempt to salvage the situation I did restore the previous settings which (A) didn't work and (B) may have made things worse because I already had created some groups and a few users and ended up with groups with duplicate IDs. That was when I scrapped everything and restored the disk from backup.
Your idea of using export/import is a slightly different avenue. However, now that I'm thinking about it, I didn't even get far enough for the user profiles to be an issue because the client computers weren't even communicating with the server to get the list of users (the Macs log-in by selecting a user name from a list).
Does export/import of a computer list work? I think I tried to import the computer list last night and the one I had only contained the Macs and these didn't preserve the MAC address info for some reason. I didn't have an export of the XP machines, but tried to manually add them to the list with no success.
    Thanks again for your help.
