BPC Functional vs Technical Consultant

Hi All,
What is the difference between BPC Functional Consultant vs BPC Technical Consultant? Looking at Dice, there are many jobs for both fields but for Techincal consultant it seems you need more software specific knowledge.

Technical consultants require the in-depth knowledge of how BPC is configured. How are the objects created in the system. It basically involves the creation and configuration of various objects and functionalities in the system.
Functional Consultant needs to have a good understanding of the business and should also know how BPC works. Their responsibility includes understanding of the business requirement, and based on that they should be able to prepare the design document. This requires a good knowledge of the overall business, and also about the BPC system.

Some of the planning functions require script writing or coding. ABAper is helpful in creating such codes.
In our scenario, ABAPers created the conversion/ transformation as per mapping prepared by the Functional Consultant.
The functional / business users do upload and download of data (imports and exports) wherever required.

You have SAP experience. You know of SAP Modules. You work in the industry. You are your own person. How is anyone on here qualified to give you advise without any context?
Step back - what do you enjoy doing? Which module have you learned about that you find interesting? Which one have you done more ABAP in? Which one might your current employer let you get experience in?
I think you have the answer you just need to think it through a bit.

What knowledge needed for oracle apps technical consultant

I'm working with oracle forms & reports 10g, OAF (only new pages creation), as well as i have some functional knowledge in manufacturing domain.
Now i have assigned as apps technical in new project.
what should i need to know to become apps technical consultant ?
i think i want to know forms customization, personalization.if yes means give me tutorial or web link to learn those things and tell me clearly what i need to know.

HRMS Technical Consultant

I have functional knowledge in Oracle HRMS, I also have extentensive experience in Oracle Forms, Reports devlopment , Now I want to start my career as a Technical consultant in Apps, Please tell me what should I do to learn Apps development , I want to create new froms/ Reports and register them in Oracle HRMS, Also pls send me 2-3 froms /reports developed as per the Apps standard. The standard BI Publisher is part of EBS applications.
Most of the EBS reports(R12) are based on BI Publisher.
If you check the responsibility 'XML Publisher Administrator' you will see all the templates used in the application.
Your technical team should already know this.
On the other hand OBIEE would need separate licences.
But for you BI Publisher would do.

In any project development, a functional person works with the fuctional requirments of the problem to solve. he gives us the idea of proper user exits, transaction code etc.
based on these info a technical consultant develope the code if it is feassible.

Is A Technical Consultant Necessary For eCATT Tool ?

Hello All,
eCATT being the functional testing tool, business scenarios are tested via it. The tool is also designed in a very user-friendly manner.
Is technical consultants (ABAPers) intervention MANDATORY for the successful usage and execution of eCATT scripts.

In my opinion, yes - you will need some technical expertise to create worthwhile test scripts.
But now for the long answer...
Anyone who has taken a look at eCATT will have had the first impression that it is a technical tool - it looks a lot like an IDE, for example. Nevertheless, it would be possible to coach a non-technical user to be able to create a recording of a transaction that they know well.
This is, of course, only the first stage of creating the script: You then have to parameterize the input/output fields, set the desired checks, ensure that the scripts are created at the correct granularity to ensure maximum re-use and so on and so forth...
My suggestion would be a collaborative approach - end users can play an important role in specifying the scope of a test case - they can even sit down with a test expert and do the recording with them (since the test automation expert will probably not know the application all that well if at all) - but the technical expert will probably have to take over when it comes to refining the recording and chaining the scripts together.
Should this expert be an ABAP developer? Not necessarily. A test automation expert can be anyone who is not afraid to engage with a programming environment. Sure, a basic knowledge of ABAP helps, but a basic knowledge of any programming language at all would be helpful, IMO.

What is the difference between technical and
functional BW Consultant???

If you work on a specific Application area in BW like say FI, MM, PP , etc. you are a BW functional. BW functional would not do any development but they are rather in charge of overseeing whether the specific application functionality is implemented or not. They rather look for the functionality and not for the underlying code.
But if you are working across application areas then you are BW technical. They are the ones who do all the development like creating BW objects and activating them.
The line between functional and Technical in BW depends on your role . At a high level differentiation would be like this:

a. Requirements Gathering
b. Understanding Business Processes and Logic
c. Data Modeling
2.Technofunctional :
a. Desiginig the Architecture
3. Technical
a. Design
b. Extraction
c. Report Creation
d. Integration
e. Performance Tuning.

BPC Functions: OsCLD, EvBNV & EvDNV not working in V 7.0.113 M

SAP BPC Function OsCLD:
Syntax as shown in SAP BPC Help: OsCLD(Application, FileName, Team, Type, Target window)
When I enter the following syntax: u201C=OSCLD("FINANCEII","GA Report & Template SURVEY.docx","AdminTeam","Word Docs",2)u201D
A hyperlink result is shown in a Wingdings 2 font. When I click on the hyperlink, nothing happens.
Why does it display in Wingdings 2 Font? Why Doesn't this work?
I have tried linking the above with Excelu2019s Hyperlink function as follows:

When I click the hyperlink, I receive a Microsoft Office Excel Security Notice dialog box indicating that his location may be unsafe. Listing a Javascript and indicating that Hyperlinks may be harmful. When I click Yes (to proceed), nothing happens.
I am also experiencing similar results for EvBNV & EvDNV. Can you please advise me why these functions are not functioning as advertised.

***FYI: The syntax line in the help file was never changed From "EvBLK" To: EvBNV*

Is there a template for the Functional Design and Technical Design for the reports?
How do I go about making the functional and technical design?

If you could give us the stage of the report -
1. whether you are reporting from existing cubes and this report would be an additional one on a existing cube or
2. The report has to be designed from the ground up ...
Depending on the same - the entire lifecycle will be different and also whether the query is to be shown on the web or through excel will be helpful.
You could have a look at ASAP Templates in the meanwhile.
