BPC Integration

Hi,
We are trying to explore different ways in which we can integrate BPC and PPM. One way is data transfer using flatfile. Are there any other ways like web services.
Please share.

Hi Diksha,
There is no direct integration between the BPC and PPM and hence it will be entirely custom development to interface BPC.
PPM is also based on NW will work with BW.
BPC is planning tool and PPM is a tool for project execution and portfolio management. In BPC NW you will have the planned values and PPM you can have the ACTUALS.

FIM and BPC Integration error

Hi Experts,
I was trying to upload data to BPC through FIM using Flat file.
I created the Job and did all the mapping but whenever I ran the job I get the below error.
"com.sap.fpm.fim.common.webservice.WSException: The job launch for job 'Trial' failed with error 'Web Services sent the request to start batch job 'Trial' on server 'null'. The Job Server refused the request with error: Job Server not found'"
Please help.
We have BPC and FIM in same server and have FIM users added as BPC users as well.
We have other SAP sources so using FIM to load data to BPC.

BPC integration with My DB

Hi All,
I need urgently to know how to integrate BPC with My DataBase.
I can't find form where i can input my data to BPC dimensions and build my comapny structure before entering my fact tables and my monthly transaction

You will need to define the dimensions (Account, Entity, Category, Time, etc) to build the structure for your company in the Admin tool. Once that is complete, you will be able to map a basic data load from your database into BPC using the transformation / conversion files. This step can be manual (extract data from database to a flatfile then upload into BPC) or automated.
There are several training courses available through SAP to teach you the fundamentals (dimensions, data loads, reporting), which will make it much easier for you to build the application(s). Closing Stock of Plant at BPC level

Hi Experts,
I am very fresher to work on BI-BPC integration project for SAP ABAP.
Requirement is like we have input of TIME, PLANT, MATERIAL for this we need to fetch closing stock of material in BPC reprot.
Closing Stock will not come directly from BI cube because its calculation part on the basis of input period.
So please suggest me what are the different ways to achieve this.

Hi Dipesh,
you can do it in two ways,
1.Write your calculation part in default logic it will trigger by default when ever you submit your data through input period.
2. Create custum logic code and Datamanger package.Then trigger the data manager package after input the data in Input form.
Note: Prefer second way rather than first bcoz default logic will trigger for all input forms when ever data is input, So it will create some disturbance.

BPC ODBO 1.0 folder in BPC 7.5 Installation - what is this?

Experts, what are the new executables for called "BPC ODBO 1.0" in the set of files to dowload for BPC 7.5 M?
I cannot find any information about these files in the Installation guide - when you install this, it is called "ODBC CLIENT", but I cannot tell if this is for the SERVER or for a CLIENT DESKTOP, so any thoughts are appreciated.
Is this for Xcelsius / Business Objects integration or for something else?

Resolved. This file is for BPC integration to display BPC data in the Business Objects tools (Voyager, Xcelsius, Analyzer, Webi, Crystal Reports). The explanation is in Chapter 4 / page 19 of the BPC MASTER guide for BPC 7.5M (not the install guide).

as far as I know BPC needs it´s own cubes.
Here in this forum we deal only with BI-IP.

GRC AC User Provisioning

Hello all,
I know we can create users for ECC, CRM, PI, Portal and others bases on NetWeaver through GRC AC standar solutions. But what about BO BI, DS, BPC? I read some posts about the subject but they were not clear as I need.
Can I create users in BO BPC using GRC AC? How? Using standard solutions?
I could not find any official document talking about this. If someone could share this document I would really appreciate.

People Soft Universe Design?

We are currently working on designing a universe for student records data based out of a People Soft Operational system.

and there are no specific references to BPC integration.
That said, if you are using the BW NW version of BPC - i'm sure this would be exposed via a BEx query over a cube, or via a relational connection using BW SQL driver to a cube.
however, if you are using the MSAS (MS SQL SRV) version of BPC, that would be using the XMLA connectory to an IIS data pump on the db server.

Could you show your python code. so we know what your are "writing" to the ethernet port?
That way we can see what you are receiving.
Parsing the incoming data (from the TCP-read) depends heavily on the device that sends it, and can not generically be described. LabVIEW has many byte (and even bit) manipulation functions to convert many different data formats to its own build in formats.
So after the TCP listener is connected, you are constantly reading from the established connection (until it gets broken of course). More advanced example would be the internet toolkit if oyu have it.
From the read characters (and I hope you designed a protocol with a clear starting character, ending character and maybe even a build in checksum) you parse the data and perform you action, and of course generate a reply. Again the internet toolkit is a good example. It parsed the input as it comes it, based on the HTTP format. Then generates the reply based on the request received.
These days I would suggest not to use binairy encoded numerics. Try and use XML formatted data. Yes, it causes a lot of overhead. But typically this is not an issue and makes the code a lot more portable and maintainable. Also makes it easier to interface with other languages/platforms.
Umless of course you are looking at Khz data rates, then XML is not th preferred choice.

BPC 7.5 MS - Integration Universe Designer - Access to properties values

I am working with BPC 7.5 MS SP03, and I want to do some reports with Web Intelligence.
I installed the ODBO provider and I defined a Universe with Universe Designer. Now, my Universe has a class for every dimension of my AppSet, and I can do WebI reports with members of the dimensions and data. But what I want to do is to see
the properties values of the members in my BPC dimensions. For example, in BPC I have a dimension called Projects with several members (Proj1, Proj2, Proj3, etc). Each member has several properties (ID, NEWID, EVDESCRIPTION, PARENTH1, FORMULA, CLIENTID, CLIENTDESC, MANAGER). In WebI, I can only see the ID of the projects. How can I do a report filtering by any other property, like CLIENTID or MANAGER? Is this possible?

Hi,
I believe this feature is not available in BO XI 3.1 when trying to access BPC data.
The only possible reporting possibility in WEBI is to see BPC members per level (LEV1, LEV2, etc...). From my experience, I would say that there is no filterining on properties.
But I guess that in BO XI 4.0, integration with BPC data will be more user-friendly and will offer a lot of other features.

Prompt on BPC & BW Integration Scenario

Hi gurus,
we have a question about BPC (Netweaver version, 7.5) and BW (7.0) Integration.
We have to load transactional data (actual) from BW to BPC; how can we manage the selection of these data in BPC?The problem is that the user wants to load, for example, only actual data from January to May; how can we pass this selection to data transfer process in BW to automate the loading process?

It is certainly possible to load data to BPC using BW transformations and DTPs, just as it is possible to report off of the BPC multiprovider using BEx queries. There are certainly implementations that are doing both of these things. I am skeptical that it is wise.
I recommend against doing either of these things until SAP releases a note or documentation outlining supported integration scenarios. Until that happens, my understanding is that these types of scenarios are not supported and may be broken by future releases or support packs. This type of breaking change is probably unlikely, but certainly possible.
On the other hand, if a customer knows what they are doing and is willing to accept the risk, then there is nothing wrong with doing something like this. Rules are made to be broken after all

BI to BPC 7.0 MS version data integration and direct connectivity?

Dear All,
I need some valubale and proper information about the BI to BPC 7.0 (Microsoft)integration?
As i have already gone through forum threads and read blogs stil i dint found any solution to our requrirement.
Is it possible to have a direct data transfer between BI to BPC 7.0(MS version)? I understand that data can be extracted from BI cubes into files and then uplod into BPC. Is there any other ways to bring data directly from BI into BPC 7.0?
Any connectors or plugins has been release in the market so far?
As per our understanding right now in the market for BPC 7.0(NW Version) everything is available but for BPC 7.0 microsoft version if any body as implemented or having any docs or related to that will be great helpful if you can share the same to me.?
IF its not aviailable in the market what could be alternative option to go ahead with the same version?

There is nothing delivered within the products that seemlessly integrates data from BI to BPC (MS ver). Besides the aforementioned good ideas about using open hub there are several 3rd Party companies that have an offering that will integrate data from SSIS packages on MS SQL Server from BI. Just search the internet (Xtract IS, iNet-BI, . . .). They all range in price and functionality.

Hey Ben,
The plans for BOBJ integration are targeted specifically for our BPC 7.5 release. We may get some of this stuff to be backwards compatible with BPC 7.0 or BPC 7.0M, but no promises yet as we haven't worked out the nature of integration yet. There are no plans to do direct BOBJ integration with BPC 5.x.

I have already seen the Xcelsius integration with BPC ,but what about other BO tools like Universe designer ? Or do we have to rely on sap integration kit to bring in data from backend-bw cubes of BPC into BO?
