Triggering BPC Package Link from BW backend

Has anyone figured out a way to trigger a Package Link from the BW backend? We would like to run our standard BW process chain(s) to load Master Data and Hierarchies and THEN once that is successful, trigger the BPC package link to load the data into BPC... We'd like to do the same for transactional data too.
We were given function module UJD_RUN_PACKAGE_LINK but could not get it to actually do anything.
No hits on Google either.... well after this message there will be one hit

Bingo!!
UJD_TEST_PACKAGE_LINK calls function UJD_RUN_PACKAGE_LINK which we were trying to do. We just must have messed up some parameters.
Anyway, UJD_TEST_PACKAGE_LINK works brilliantly!
For those reading this in the future....
1. Find your LINK_ID in table UJD_LINK. The CONTENT field gives you clues as to which one.
2. Execute UJD_TEST_PACKAGE_LINK.
3. Find your LINK_ID in the drop down and then hit enter. It will fill in your Appset Id and Appl Id.
4. Make sure you enter a user id to run it under (<domain>\<bpc userid>)
5. For our purposes we don't have any manual prompts so left it blank.
6. Save as a variant or simply just run.
7. Enjoy

BPC Netweaver version - Conversion File Formulas

BPC (Netweaver) Expert,
When creating formulas on the Data Conversion File that is called by the Transformation File, the Formulas are not working on the Netweaver Version. Does anyone have any idea what may not be set up correctly?

Hello Greg,
BPC Netweaver uses somewhat different syntax for conversion formulas, and uses javascript for complex formulas, so formulas written using Visual Basic on the MS version will not work, though the basic *IF logic should work (I think I'm remembering MS conversion formulas correctly, but it's been a while). Hi Tara,
As far as I know there is no automatic method provided by SAP right now to migrate from SAP BPC MS to SAP BPC NW.
Please have in mind that the front end will be the same, but the backend will be different: BW, BADIS and ABAP (In NW) vs SQL, SSIS packages, Stored Procedures and Visual Basic (In MS). Which means that there will not be an easy way to perform this migration in an automatic way.

Error In BPC Netweaver Export Package-version 7.5

Hi Bpc Experts, We upgraded DEV BPC Version 7 to 7.5 netweaver version. We are facing an issue when exporting data from BPC to BI application server.Please find the error message as below

Can you try the below mapping:
0GLACCOUNT=C_ACCT
I have my transformation file maintained in such a way that my BPC dimensions are maintained to the right of '=' sign.
Maintain your mapping like that and validate the tansformation file with the data in the BPC cube.

BPC Netweaver Landscape question

Hi
Technical question:
BPC NW has got two components = A Netweaver server and a Windows server.
Does anyone know if you can run this all the same Windows server? e.g Netweaver is running on the .Net server that you're using for BPC.

Hi,
In general Netweaver needs 64 bit machine and BPC needs 32 bit machine, so need to have two servers. but with some settings in IIS (mentioned in Install guide) you can make BPC (.net server) work with 64 bit machine. So you can have both Netweaver and BPC in one 64 bit machine.

so after implementing note 2050531 you should add the following entry in table UJPS_RESOURCE (caution I misspelled it earlier, it is not ups_resource).
You can do this through transaction SE16 -> enter UJPS_RESOURCE and hit Create Entries.
Fields MANDT and APPSET_ID should be filled with your BW System Client ID (i.e. 100) and your BPC Environment ID (i.e. ENVIRONMENTSHELL). The entries that appear to be empty should be left empty.

BPC Netweaver dimension formula SUM and AGGREGATE

Hello
Does anybody knows the arguments we can use with SUM and AGGREGATE in a dimension formula in BPC NW.
I would like to aggregate data on a hirarchy but not from leaf level only the child at a specific level (do an average at a certain level and then do an aggragate of the children at upper level).
Any idea how to use CHILDREN with SUM or AGGREGATE ?

Hi Anne,
Note [1550366|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1550366] solves part of your problem (in SP06), but these formula results will not roll up the hierarchy and you still cannot reference formula members within formulas, so you will not easily be able to aggregate the averages that you calculate.
It would probably be better to calculate your averages in script logic and assign them to normal base members.

However mi client wants to build another level in herarchy and i don't know which is the deepest level in herarchy for BPC. I also think in SAP ECC FI may be some inconvinients about the herarchy, because it would be from 6 levels when the actual is 5 levels.

HI,
There is no deep level of hierarchy in BPC. The design of your hierarchy depends upon your requirement. You can have different parent hierarchies in one dimension member sheet and N number of levels in that.
Your above scenario is good and you can go ahead with that.

I can't create an instance for BPF (BPC Netweaver 7.5)

Hi experts:
I am trying to create a Busines Process Flow. I am following steps according to the "how to" that explains the proccess. I firstly created the BPF template and, then, when I am creating an instance, identity dimensions are blank. Theorically, I have the template created as 'How To' explain and I can't figure out the reason why it is not working.

It was my mistake. I sometimes think as a SAP ERP consultant a I was trying to inform the blank field. I was not doing double-clicking in the dimension to choose a value. I am sorry if someone has wasted some time.

An InfoCube of SAP BW is connected with the Dimension Table. This Dimension Table is connected with the SID Table. This SID Table is connected with the Characteristic, which is connected with Attribute Table, Text Table, and Hierarchy Table. Does this SAP BPC 10 or 7.5 or 7.0 NW cube follow the same structure.

BPC for NetWeaver OS requirement - Windows 2003 Standard vs. Enterprise

Hello BPC Expert,
I have a question in regard to the Windows Server 2003 edition for SAP BPC 7.0 for NetWeaver. On the Installation Guide of BPC NetWeaver SP03, the prerequisite for the Operating System for .NET Server component is Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.
My question: will Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition work for .NET component? We have a budget concern as the Enterprise Edition will cost couple more thousands than standard.

Yes you can use the Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (32-bit and 64-bit). Shouldnt be a problem.

BW Business content activation for BPC 7 NW.

What are the standard business contents needs to be activated for BPC7NW installation in BW?
I means any infoobjects, cubes specific to BPC which can be activated in BW/BI server.
Please let me know any input or links.

Good question.
This topic is covered in the BPC NetWeaver installation guide that in on the service marketplace.

The post activation activities are made up primarily of two things.
1) Activation of the delivered BPC Process Chains.
Within the DW Workbench goto the Business Content tab and search for all process chains with the prefix /CPMB/* and activate them all.
2) Activation of ApShell
You can do this by running the program UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT. This is not exactly Business Content however somewhat similar. This will create the cubes, infoObjects etc that make up Apshell and load ApShells applications with Data.
