  • Error Message when opening Project Plan on Project Professional from PWA 2013 using either Google Chrome or Firefox

    Dears,,
One of our clients uses Google Chrome
as their standard navigator to open PWA 2013 that we have deployed for them.
Every thing went fine until we tried to open a project plan using Project Professional 2013 from PWA using the Edit in Project Professional option, we had the below error:
"Project Web App was unable to find the specified Project.
the project was not found on Project Web App. some possible reasons include:
The Project has not yet been saved successfully to the server.
The Project has been deleted on the server.
you don’t have adequate permissions to open this project.
if the project is available in the local cache, you can click the globe in the status bar and select "Work offline", and then open the project, if the problem continues, contact
    your administrator."
Please note that IE is working fine with this scenario,
the belwo screenshot shows the error that appears to the users.

    Hi All,
As Gary and Guillaume suggested, have you tried to install IE tab extension for chrome?
    See the link below:
    http://www.ietab.net/
and also im with what Dale has posted
(why don't you just tell the PM to use Internet Explorer instead of Google Chrome?
I suspect that this problem reveals that PWA does not work perfectly in browsers other than the Internet
    Explorer,
so I would simply mandate that all PMs and TMs need to use Internet Explorer for Project Server.
Just a thought.  Hope this helps.)
from my side , i have tested it and it works perfect.

  • Error in saving project plan in project server 2007

I am  getting following error when I try to make a change and saved the  project plan. It has happened several times since yesterday. Not sure if the file is corrupted.
Is it possible to make a copy of the file and mark the current file as inactive?
    The File cannot be opened.
Check that the File name and path are correct.
Check that the File format is recognized by Project.
Project Files saved in a version earlier than Microsoft Project 98
    can't be opened.
If your File is From an earlier version, open it in that version, click
Save as (File menu), and save in MPX Format Open the MPX File. When
you use this method, project data is imported, but Formatting is lost.
Has any one has same issue? any suggestions please reply.
    Thanks-

    Hi Micahel,
    Thanks for the posting!
what would be solution inorder to make it working.i was looking at some posts which i listed below for some it had worked....i did not try it but just guessing it would work
    1. Launch Project Professional 2007 and connect to Project Server.
    2.  In the new blank project (Project1), click Insert - Project.
    3.  Select the troublesome project.
    4.  DESELECT the "Link to project" checkbox and then click the Insert
    button.
    5.  When prompted to save the changes to the troublesome project, click the
    No button
Or in another case it may  be
Saving as a template with re-open is a smart work around, typically when a network connection gets dropped.  In these cases
we have copy/pasted to a new file, or, saved as XML and then reopened.
I appreciate any kind of help on it.
    Thanks

  • How to change actual effort in project plan when Projected Actual option is enable in Project Server 2010

    Hi,
We have enable "Protect User Updates" option from PWA->Task Setting and Display->Only allow task updates via Task and Timesheets, to protect actual efforts in project plan that PM changes manually, however in some cases we need to allow actual
effort changes in open projects so it there any way or workaround so that Administrator or PM can make changes in actual even though "Protect User Updates" option is enable. Please Help!!
    Thanks,
    Rahul

    Hi Rahul,
Indeed when this option is activated, there is no way to directly update actual work in the project plan.
The workaround is to temporary deactivate this option, more preferly not during office working hours to avoid unexpected project updates.
A better workaround would be to ask the resource to recall, correct and submit again the timesheet, so the PM can approve an updated actual work. Finally the PM can use delegation to rscall and correct the timesheet for the resource.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cant import project plan to project server

    Hi
Getting below error when i try to upload the project plan from my desktop to project server in 2010
I had a glimpse on related Project server forums and project server error codes it says
    LookupTableItemInvalidLookupTable = 11073
An item in the lookup table is not valid.
Can you please help me to resolve the issue
    Regards
    Santosh

Their is not tool which can perform this for you.
You have to do it manually, you can do shorting for all the custom field then match the values of look up table if you have any document for custom field and look up configuration.

  • Is Oracle Project Management has all features which Microsoft Project Plan?

    Hello Experts,
Customer wanted to start using Oracle Project Management suit completly along with little Microsoft project plan. as of now most of the projects are using microsoft project plan for project management and Oracle Project suit is for Costing and Billing.
But in order to start this initiative, we need to explain the difference which Oracle Project Management can not able to do but Microsoft project plan can. Based on this management will take the decesion.
As per my understanding, Orace Project Management can perform all the tasks except scheduling. As it supports scheduling from third party software like Microsoft project plan / primavera etc.
Rest I think Oracle Project management suit is equally matured to perform all the project management task which Mircosoft project management can perform.
So experts , can you please confirm my understanding and provide me some light on this topic.
    Thanks :-)

    Hi,
First of all, I would like to know what are the various things you are performing with a Microsoft project plan apart from scheduling the resources to a specific project .
Through Oracle Project Management, you can control the visibility of a resource, assign it to a particular project and control the tracking of the time in various assignments. If that is what you are trying to achieve through Oracle Project Management icnluding the other features it has, you can surely go for it.
Let me know if you have any doubts on it.
    Regards,

  • Why MS Project Checks Out Project after Choosing Read-Only

    All,
Below is an quote from one of our MS Project users:
"When users try to do a Read Only of a project plan, MS Project is checking the file out to them.   When I go in to edit the plan, I can't because the file is checked out.  I inform the user who it is checked out to, but they
are unable to check the file back in because they never checked it out to begin with."
When the above happens, the admin will have to force the check-in.  Is the above by design or is it a bug?  We are using Project Server 2010.
    Thanks

If it is CU Dec 2011, I guess you do not have SP2 installed, which you should do asap.
That being said, I suspect this is due to a wrong manipulation since it would be an obvious and unacceptable bug. Can you detail step by step the process to reproduce this unexpected behavior?
    Hope this helps,

  • Create a project from list item not working if EPT has Project Plan Template

    HI,
i am trying to leverage the new feature in 2013 to create a project from an idea list.
This works fine if the EPT does not have Project Plan template assigned to it. Even through workflow action "Create Project from current list item".
However if i assign a project plan template and the user creating the project  is not Administrators Group member, i get an error. While doing this trough a workflow the worfklow gets suspended and i have the below message:

Any one has experienced this ?
    Thx

    Hi, RonyZ.
    I think it could help.
I have experienced the same problem as you are, except "Create project" option, my managers could do it.
So, for me a solution was to set definite permissions for Workflow Initiators (I have created new group, but you can edit, including
    Global permissions
    New project
    Open project template
    Server configuration management
    For category “My organization”
    Open Project
    Publish Project
    Save Project on Project Server
Excuse me my translation, some names can be written not properly, cause I have localized SP.
In you case, I think, you should check, if you PM  group has all these permissions.
And Workflow Initiator should be in group which has.
In LOGS error notifications starts with “Permission denied”, then goes account
name and then the name of permission which is left.

  • Correct Steps to Edit an Existing Project Plan Template?

    Hi,
We have to add tasks to a current existing Project plan template which is also a part of EPT. What are the correct steps for carrying out this exercise. Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
It depends what you want to achieve. Do you want to overwrite the existing plan template or version it. Lets cover both.
    Overwriting
Open the Enterprise Template in Project Professional - assume it is called "Dev Template", make the required changes. Click File > Save As, type the exactly the same name of the current template - "Dev Template", change the type to "Template" and
click save. You will be prompted about overwriting the template, Click OK. Now all future projects created from the associated EPT will have the new update plan template.
    Versioning
Assuming the current template is versioned - "Dev Template v1", Open the Enterprise Template in Project Professional. Make the required changes. Click File > Save As, type the exactly the same name of the current template but update to v2 -
"Dev Template v2", change the type to "Template" and click save. Now go to PWA Setting / Server Settings > Enterprise Project Types, click the correct EPT, scroll down to the project plan template section and update the template from "Dev Template
v1" to "Dev Template v2". Click Save. Now all future projects created from the associated EPT will have the new update plan template.
    Hope that helps

  • How to Remove "Project Plan Template" from Project MSP client Enterprise tab / Project Server 2013

    Hello All,
    This should be easy one.
I have created a "Project Plan Template" and applied to the EPT. Now i open my MSP Client 2013 and go to New--> Enterprise tab and select the template i want to use to create a new project. However, there are unnecessary Plan Templates which
i want to remove from enterprise tab.
    Please Help.
    sandeep

Hi Sandeep, Go to PWA,server settings, delete enterprise objects. Then select the project combo box. You will see the list of all projects of your instance, with a column named "type". In this column you will find projects, sub projects, master
projects and templates. Just sort along this type column, look for the templates, select the template to remove and click on the "delete" button.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi,
You can get it from ASAP methodology, http://service.sap.com/asap
    Patricio.

  • Project Plan Template - How to Delete

Using Project Pro 2010 I have created a Project Plan Template, saving it on Project Server 2010.  (File --> Save As --> choose Type=Template).  Now I would like to delete this template so it is no longer seen by people when they use
File --> New --> Project Server Templates.  Somehow I'm not seeing how to delete a template.
    Thanks for your help,
    Lee Vande Voort

    Hi Lee Vande Voort,
Just go to server settings, "delete enterprise objects" section, select projects and sort the projects by type, as per my screenshot below. You should find your enterprise template. Select it and delete it.

  • Template Project Management

    Dear All,
We are going to implement template project and with the help of that, two implementation project was planned to implement for two countries. But instead of that, now we plan to maintain in a single project with different scenario names. Is this correct way to proceed further or not?
Note: Business Process will be same as of now. in future, if it is changed we will update as new step with some acknowledgement..
    Thanks & regards,
    Krishnan Kumar.K

    Hi
It depends upon the actual usage you are going to do if you just going to maintain a central repository of documents it is ok.
    But
Single implementation project with 2 countries different implementation will create plenty of problems like Country A user's still see all the documents and every thing of Country B which normally they dont accept and vice versa
because if user A has access for BB type of documents they can access country B ...BB documents also ..therefore later you need to go for different document type creation within the same project if you dont want that.
I prefer have a template project at center and ....Implementation projects for other 2 countries.
later any change happening ..you can change the template version and ...use the compare adjust functionality in implementation projects
Sharing my experience and hope it clarifies
    regards

  • Template project

    Hi! everyboby
Can anyone tell me how to create a template project ?
I am having problem when I try to save it.  I do not know what type of package I heve to type.
    Thank you very much
    Xiomara

    Hi Xiomara,
As regards approaches to Template Project, there are primarily two:
    (1) Create a Template Project with a view to share project structure and content to Rollouts or other Implementation Projects planned to be carried out from various other SolMan instances in those respective countries or business units
    (2) Create a Template Project to share the structure and contents with other projects that are to be based out of the same SolMan instance
If yours is of type (2) - which most people tend to have - you dont have to worry about Packages/ Transports etc. and save the Project as Local Object.
It's an 'irreversible' decision and therefore, it's better to check with all senior members of the project team.
If you go ahead with (2) and at some very late stage, you realise that there is a subsidiary in Asia or South America who are keen to use your Project structure and knowledge, but based out of their 'own' Solution Manager instance, you'll have a few possibilities, including:
    - Client Copy to start with, as a one time 'gift'
    - Transport the whole Template Project as a one time gift !
Basically, type (1) is to be used mainly where a clear requirement exists - a central team is convened somewhere (e.g. Europe) representing all geographies, and would like to be the only team that keeps preparing 80% of Global Scenarios, Processes and Content and dish them out to local subsidiaries who can then 'adopt' such incremental templates in their respective SolMan instances.
Or, SAP Partner firms may opt for type (1) to create some pioneering work/content at their premises in their own SolMan and periodically 'release' such value added content to the client(s) concerned.
If you can assess your own context and make up your mind to not opt for (1) you can conveniently ignore the 'package' business and save your Template Project and all its subsequent contents in SOLAR01/02 etc. to 'Local Object' - not transportable.
Please also read SAP Note 603336 for more information on limitations of these two types of approach.
Feel free to ask for any more info; this is a favourite topic of mine and time permitting, would like to answer as much as I can !
    Best regards,
    Srini

  • How to migrate changed Business Scenarios from Template Project to Solution

SAP Solution Manager - How to migrate changes in Business Scenarios from Template Project to Solution?
Our Global ASAP strategy is based upon a Template Project, Implementation Project, Maintenance Project and Solution with Business Scenarios.
Changes in the Template Project for existing and new Business Sceanarios, etc. are correctly executed. Up till now we have successfully implemented our Template Project and secondly extended our Business Scenarios from 4 to 14. Our 3rd upcoming change will be changes on Business Scenarios as well. These planned changes for the Business Scenarios need to be consistent, possibly without manual intervention.
During a Proof of Concept (PoC) in our Sandbox (SXB) we have identified a possible serious problem when trying to publish these changes in Business Scenarios in the Template Project to the Solution. SAP Solution Manager (SSM) does not seem to support a scenario where Business Scenarios in the Solution can be refreshed or updated with changed Business Scenarios in the Template Project.
    We have identified 2 possibillities:
    1.     Manual project upgrade
    1.1.     Synchronize the changes for the Template Project normally;
    1.2.     Delete the changed Business Scenarios from step 1.1 in the Solution;
1.3.     Add the changed Business Scenarios from step 1.1 into the Solution.
For this scenario we foresee a big problem because all Content and Issues connected to the old Solution Business Scenarios loose their coupling with the Solution.
For the Content this may not be a real problem because the Content is also available in the Template Project.
However the Issues are loosely coupled to the Solution Scenarios and therefore need to be coupled manually to these processes.
    2.     Manual changes using Maintenance Project
    2.1.     Synchronize the changes for the Template Project normally;
2.2.     Publish all changes from step 2.1 in the Template Project
    2.3.     Add all new Content from step 2.1 to the structure of the Maintenance Project;
2.4.     Relocate Content and Issues when the Business Scenario has been relocated.
Because SSM does not support this activity we need to delete this Business Scenario first and secondly re-create it again on the correct spot.
Our question: How has SAP done this in other customer projects?
We need to have a working solution by the end of March, 2009.
    Best regards,
    Peter Hendriksen

    Peter,
Did you get an anwer to this question from SAP?
