BPC Xcelsius integration

Hi All,
I want to know whether BPC 7.0 version supports integration with Xcelsius if it is then how it is doner else  7.5 version only supports full integration.
Thanks,
Raghu.

Hi,
For 7.0 we have an integration with XCelsius but of course we have also some limitation.
You can use the follow HTG from follow link http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BPX/EnterprisePerformanceManagement%28EPM%29How-to+Guides.
This can help you to use XCelsius with SAP BPC 7.0.
Taking in consideration that 7.5 is able to use CMS authentication from BO we can say in 7.5 we have fully integration of SAP BPC 7.5 with Xcelsius and not only with Xcelisus. We ca say we have a fully integration with almost all BO interface like Voyager, Webi.
We prepared an RKT material which will be distributed very soon providing details about integration with BO interface.
I hope this will help you.

  • BPC BO integration roadmap?

    Hi,
    I would like to know what are the options/roadmap for integration of BPC 7 N/W ver. with BO tools? I have already seen the Xcelsius integration with BPC ,but what about other BO tools like Universe designer  ? Or do we have to rely on sap integration kit to bring in data from backend-bw cubes of BPC into BO?

  • Prompt on BPC & BW Integration Scenario

    Hi gurus,
    we have a question about BPC (Netweaver version, 7.5) and BW (7.0) Integration.
    We have to load transactional data (actual) from BW to BPC; how can we manage the selection of these data in BPC?The problem is that the user wants to load, for example, only actual data from January to May; how can we pass this  selection to data transfer process in BW to automate the loading process?

    Hi Christoffer,
    It is certainly possible to load data to BPC using BW transformations and DTPs, just as it is possible to report off of the BPC multiprovider using BEx queries. There are certainly implementations that are doing both of these things. I am skeptical that it is wise.
    I recommend against doing either of these things until SAP releases a note or documentation outlining supported integration scenarios. Until that happens, my understanding is that these types of scenarios are not supported and may be broken by future releases or support packs. This type of breaking change is probably unlikely, but certainly possible.
    On the other hand, if a customer knows what they are doing and is willing to accept the risk, then there is nothing wrong with doing something like this. Rules are made to be broken after all
    Cheers,
    Ethan

    I do some test, and I check:
    Problem with the file GenericXcelsiusIsland_2008_30.swf; I can not find it, but I download the file GenericXcelsiusIsland_2008.swf (in the WebDynpro /BCV/WDC_UIF_DISPLAY_XC), I rename it and I upload it. Now, appear an error with the file xlf; I upload too. Now, not appear errors, but it does not show the flash.

  • Can BPC be integrated with ByDesign?

    Any issues regarding using BPC with ByDesign?
    Should the  ByDesign customer set up a BW cube for use with
    BPC NW?
    Should the customer down load data to MS SQL and then use BPC
    MS?

    Hi Joe,
    It should be possible to use WAAS with non-cisco routers, as long as they support WCCP.
    There are no documents on this because, the configuration from WAAS point of view would be the same, and the router configuration would depend on the vendor.

  • SSM 7.5 - Xcelsius integration

    Hi to all,
    I'm trying to use the Xcelsius reporting capabilities in order to create some nice dashboards/reports using the SSM data.
    I'm following this steps:
    1 - Start Web Services Administration in NetWeaver
    2 - In the Search By drop-down list, select Service Definition Name and click Go
    3 - From the list of services, select jee-default_SMDataService
    4 - Click the WSDL tab.
    5 - Click the WSDL link http://<nwce server>:<port>/strategy/SMDataServiceService?wsdl&mode=sap_wsdl in the Details about WSDL section.
    And my problem is in this last step, I dont have that link, only the:
    http://<nwce server>:<port>/strategy/SMDataServiceService?wsdl&mode=ws_policy
    Did anyone did this configuration already? What is the reason for the sap_wsdl link is not appearing?
    I'm using SSM7.5 SP3 and Netweaver CE 7_1
    Thanks in advance for all the help.
    Pedro

    Hi Bob,
    thanks for your answer.
    I just double check, and Strategy Management is working fine, but even so, I don't have the sap_wsdl link in my NetWeaver!?!?
    Please see the following image:
    [http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/6412/sapwsdl.jpg]
    In the "Details about WSDL" section, I should have another line with the link to the sap_wsdl, but for some reason that is missing.
    Regards

  • Polestar & Xcelsius integration

    Hi all,
    I am a newbie on SAP Business Objects but I wanto to know if is there a way to integrate an Xcelsius Report into Polestar?
    Maybe using some API or configuration. We would like to integrate the adaptability of Polestar with the usefull UI elements of Xcelsius.
    Any idea or doucmentation would be appreciated.
    Regards,

    Orlando,
    As Thomas Marion said on previous post customization of Explorer interface is not possible. One way, is you create an hiperlink from your Xcelsius Dashboard to the Explorer address.

  • Xcelsius integration in WebDynpro Java Flash Islands

    Hi,
    We developed a visual composer application with CE 7.20 SPS 03 and we try to integrate a xcelsius gauge in to VC 7.20. It works fine with passing single or multiple parameters to xcelsius with webdynpro java flash islands, but how do we get the value from xcelsius back to webdynpro java.
    How do we have to name the event in webdynpro flash island? Which event is triggered when change a slider or a gauge? Is there any document?
    I need your help.
    Best regards,
    Murat Y.

    Creating Flash Island Events
    To implement the Visual Composer application if data has changed on the Flash island side, we need to define a Flash Island event. In this example, the Web Dynpro application needs to be updated once the user has changed one of the two slider values. The Web Dynpro application will trigger an event that will be handled in Visual Composer. Once you have created a Flash island event entry, you can assign a Web Dynpro action method to be called if the Flash island event is raised.
    1.     Right-click RootElement again and create a SliderCostsEvent and a SliderRevenuesEvent:
    2.     Assign the following attribute values to the Flash island event entries:
    SliderCostsEvent:
    SliderRevenuesEvent:
    Note:
    The Flash island event name must be the same as the name in the corresponding Data Connection Range and Property. For example, in the Xcelsius Data Connection, we defined a Range u201CSliderRevenuesu201D. Once the referring value is changed, the Flash island event SliderRevenues is called (which is bound to a Web Dynpro action method) and also the data is written to the SliderRevenues Flash island property (which is bound to a Web Dynpro context attribute). Once an Action method is called from the Flash island event, the data is transferred to the Web Dynpro context.
    The onAction property points to a method Update(), which you need to create in the FlashIslandView (see implementation following).
    3.     Now we will create the event that will refresh the data in the Visual Composer application. Go to the Events tab of the Component Controller and click New. Enter RefreshData as the event name and click Finish.
    4.     Create the Component Controller method that will be called by the viewu2019s Update method. Go to the Component Controlleru2019s Methods tab and create a new method by clicking New. In the dialog box, select Method and click Next. Enter the name of the method, i.e. updateData and click Finish. Save the application.
    5.     Right-click on this method and select Navigate To  Implementation. This will open the implementation code of this method.
    The method should look like this:
    public void updateData( )  {
        //@@begin updateData()
           wdThis.wdFireEventRefreshData();
        //@@end
    The Update method of the FlashIslandView calls the Update method of the Component Controller; see implementation below:
    public void onActionUpdate(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
         //@@begin onActionUpdate(ServerEvent)
           wdThis.wdGetCostRevenueCompController().updateData();
        //@@end
    The Update method of the Component Controller will trigger the event that will refresh the Visual Composer UI with the new data. The reason for the multiple calls is that actions that are defined in the view cannot fire events but they can call a method, so we need to call a Component Controller method that will fire the event.
    6.     Next, you should expose this event in the Interface Controller. Right-click the event and select Copy. Go to the Interface Controller, select the Events tab and paste the event.

  • Xcelsius Portal Integration kit for Sharepoint not showing in the gallary

    Hi Experts,
    I am testing the Xcelsius in my organization. After creating a dashboard , I am trying to integrate it in my Sharepoint portal.
    For that I installed SP webpart container in the server. During installation it was not showing any wizard to me for selecting the options. After installation , i am trying to configure it in the webpart galary but ! couln't find the Xcelsius Webpart container in that list.
    What to do to show it ? Could anyone guide me ?
    Regards,
    Jyothi

    i'm not sure how it works with Sharepoint... however, i can tell you how we use the portal integration kit within WebSphere Portal.
    first, the PIK itself is only used for BO integration, not Xcelsius integration (unless you are doing SSO in which case the BO login module is required).
    the Xcelsius integration comes from creating the web parts on the client. For example, for WebSphere there is a tool that is loaded onto the client machine called "XcelsiusPortletCreationUtility". the purpose of this utility is to take a swf file and wrap it in a war file that can be deployed to the portal. i would assume that  Sharepoint works in a similar way with a client utility.
    also, within the Xcelsius file you must create a portal data connection, even if it's not actually used.
    please look through your Xcelsius documentation or try to find the specific document that explains Sharepoint integration.

  • Integrating Xcelsius into a website

    Hello!
    I am planing to have a website built which requires many types of charts to illustrate results. Does someone know if I can have the functionality of Xcelsius dashboards generating these interactive charts? Is there a special version of Xcelsius to do this? If so, cost?
    Thanks for any info.

    Thank you for your reply Stewart.
    I think i did a bad job explaining what I need.
    Imagine a website where you enter the name of a city, and the internal code of the website looks for all the economic information about said city, automatically generating Xcelsius interactive dashboards. In other word, what i am looking for is to have Xcelsius integrated into the website so it will generate dashboards automatically. is this possible?
    Thanks

  • SSM and BPC - Implementation Options and Concerns

    Hi,
    I am hoping that someone can assist with some BPC/SSM implementation queries.
    Until recently, our client was intending to implement SEM-CPM and SEM-BPS. Now, our client is considering the implementation of SSM and BPC. This raises a number of questions with regards to these products and their integration with Netweaver 7.0. Kindly see my questions/comments below:
    <b><u>BPC</u></b>
    <b>1.</b> Our client intends to implement BPC 5.1 immediately and then migrate to BPC 7.0 once the integration with BW is provided for. Until BPC 7.0 becomes available, it was assumed that BPC could exchange data with SAP BW by means of a flat file export/import process. From a technical perspective, is this assumption correct? Would you recommend this approach? Are there other ways to enable this data exchange?
    <b>2.</b> In order to allow for effective data exchange between BW and BPC, we will need to replicate the BW cubes in BPC and update these cubes with the required BW master and meta data. In this case, I understand that data integrity and synchronization between BW and BPC is very difficult to maintain. What are your views in this regard? What steps can be taken to improve this sychronisation process?
    <b>3.</b> SAP has committed to provide BPC/BW integration next year. Considering this, do you recommend that we begin with a BPC 5.1 implementation now or do you recommend that we wait until the integration is provided in version BPC 7.0.?
    <b><u>SSM</u></b>
    <b>1.</b> Does PilotWorks exist in Unix and what data base must it use?
    <b>2.</b> What is the maturity of the mapping tool used to map SAP to Pilot Works?
    <b>3.</b> Is there any data that must reside in Pilot Works or can all data be centralised   in BW?
    <b>4.</b> Is there any workstation setup necessary to run Pilot Works off a desktop?
    <b><u>General CPM</u></b>
    <b>1.</b> Even though we are still deciding which planning/balanced scorecard tool is ideal, we intend to begin immediately with the BW data modeling process. Is it reasonable to assume that the eventual decision to implement BPC or SSM will NOT have a significant impact on the data model from a functional or technical perspective? Obviously, we do not wish to build a data model that will be incompatible with BPC/SSM or that will place limitations on BPC/SSM functionality.   If BPC/SSM will impact data modelling, what points should we take into consideration when preparing our data model in BW? For example, what data locking issues exist in BPC and how will this impact our BW data modelling?
    I would greatly appreciate any assistance/views.
    Thanks,
    Ross

    Hi Ross
    Tried to answer your questions on BPC/CPM, my collegues in SSM will answer your SSM queries:
    BPC
    1. Our client intends to implement BPC 5.1 immediately and then migrate to BPC 7.0 once the integration with BW is provided for. Until BPC 7.0 becomes available, it was assumed that BPC could exchange data with SAP BW by means of a flat file export/import process. From a technical perspective, is this assumption correct? Would you recommend this approach? Are there other ways to enable this data exchange?
    Yes this is a right approach.
    2. In order to allow for effective data exchange between BW and BPC, we will need to replicate the BW cubes in BPC and update these cubes with the required BW master and meta data. In this case, I understand that data integrity and synchronization between BW and BPC is very difficult to maintain. What are your views in this regard? What steps can be taken to improve this sychronisation process?
    You can use informatica with whom SAP have a OEM agreement, to facilitate this process
    3. SAP has committed to provide BPC/BW integration next year. Considering this, do you recommend that we begin with a BPC 5.1 implementation now or do you recommend that we wait until the integration is provided in version BPC 7.0.?
    You should start with 5.1 implementation and later migrate to 7.0. With that you can start using the functionality and only the platform layer will change later
    General CPM
    1. Even though we are still deciding which planning/balanced scorecard tool is ideal, we intend to begin immediately with the BW data modeling process. Is it reasonable to assume that the eventual decision to implement BPC or SSM will NOT have a significant impact on the data model from a functional or technical perspective? If BPC/SSM will impact data modelling, what points should we take into consideration when preparing our data model in BW? There will not be any compromises on functionality and therefore you should be good to have any data model within BPC model
