BPEL path for eclipse

When I install BPEL the default path is C:\orabpel as the orabpel quick start tutorial so i can find Oracle BPEL project in the Eclips for new project. but my defalt installation path is C:\OraBPELPM1. For the eclipse I can not the Oracle BPEL project for new project. How can I configure the path for this problem.
Unzip your Eclipse distribution somewhere. The rest of this document assumes you
unzip it into C:\ directory on Windows, so you should adjust paths as appropriate if
you place it somewhere else.

So what is correct here. All of the tutorials and quick guides are all using Eclipse. I am trying to test 10.1.3 SOA version as I am currently on 10.1.2.0 w/ JDev being my designer.
J-Dev BPEL plugin changed quite a bit, so I wanted to RTFM but they are all in Eclipse.
Like these for instance

• BPEL Designer plugin for Eclipse 3.1 - when will it be available?

As oracle has not only vowed to continue support the Eclipse IDE for the BPEL Designer, but also keep functionality in-line with JDeveloper - I was wondering when a version of this plugin will be available for Eclipse 3.1.
Could some Oracle rep. please respond to this?

Excellent!
Can this be downloaded from OTN?
At http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/bpel/index.html
I only see: "Oracle BPEL Designer for Eclipse 3.0"
Or did you try and use BPEL Designer for Eclipse 3.1, using that version and was fortunate enough to get it working ;-)

that's too bad. I also have wasted some time looking for the eclipse plug in and would have preferred that approach. I've not had good experience with jDeveloper in the past, but even if those issues have been solved, eclipse is a good standard approach that oracle should support

Anyone know the correct location?

Kenan,
I am afraid that the side-by-side versioning does not address the need of in-flight changes because there is not import feature for in-flight instances.
The side-by-side versioning is designed to let all existing in-flight instances to complete with the existing (unchanged) BPEL definition while new instances are routed to the newer version.
To deploy a new version of the BPEL project, us the -rev option if you are using the command line tool or the rev attribute is you are using the ant task.
Sorry for not being more helping. Dynamic changes is a feature we do not really support.

According to the release notes, for the JRCHelperSample to compile, you must set the target runtime for the project.
To do this, either create a project from scratch that uses the Tomcat 5.5 target runtime, or go to the properties menu and ensure that the target runtime is set to the application server you will be using.

Hi,
Please make sure you have Tomcat 5.5 installed on your machine.
Also JAVA_HOME and Tomcat's CATALINA path are set accordingly in Environment Variables.
After setting these restart machine and Eclipse.
The latest version for crystal report for eclipse isCrystal Report For Eclipse v2.0 SP1

• Absolute paths to eclipse project root? Why?

I am a dedicated follower of the Flex and related technologies since its first appearance (some years back, Flex 1.5)
Flash Builder (formerly Flex Builder) back then (version 2) seemed to have a problem with paths relative to project location.
More precisely, parts of generated projects always point to absolute locations either inside or outside the eclipse project workspace.
Unfortunately, the problem still persists. In the past I had reported this issue (long time to remember/extract details now) but without success as it seems.
This is very important for projects intended to be developed by more than one persons (different development machines, different paths etc.)
for an example, with Flash Builder 4, create a new Flex project (Web), activate WTP integration, complete project generation and then check files
.actionScriptProperties and .flexProperties
you will observe absolute path references to essential files
here is an example of my .actionScriptProperties
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<actionScriptProperties mainApplicationPath="Main.mxml" projectUUID="43b42874-f3f0-4b6b-932c-6a1d4e492b56" version="6">
<compiler additionalCompilerArguments="-services "D:/eclipse-win32/workspace/net.eliasbalasis.flex.web.sample/WebContent/WEB-INF/flex/services-config.xml" -locale en_US" autoRSLOrdering="true" copyDependentFiles="true" fteInMXComponents="false" generateAccessible="true" htmlExpressInstall="true" htmlGenerate="true" htmlHistoryManagement="true" htmlPlayerVersionCheck="true" includeNetmonSwc="false" outputFolderPath="bin-debug" sourceFolderPath="flex_src" strict="true" targetPlayerVersion="0.0.0" useApolloConfig="false" useDebugRSLSwfs="true" verifyDigests="true" warn="true">

<libraryPathEntry kind="3" linkType="1" path="${PROJECT_FRAMEWORKS}/libs/flex.swc" useDefaultLinkType="false"/>
</excludedEntries>
</libraryPathEntry>
<libraryPathEntry kind="1" linkType="1" path="flex_libs"/>
<libraryPathEntry kind="3" linkType="1" path="D:/eclipse-win32/workspace/net.eliasbalasis.flex.web.sample/WebContent/WEB-INF/flex/libs/fds.swc" useDefaultLinkType="false"/>

<libraryPathEntry kind="1" linkType="1" path="D:/eclipse-win32/workspace/net.eliasbalasis.flex.web.sample/WebContent/WEB-INF/flex/locale/{locale}"/>
</libraryPath>
<sourceAttachmentPath/>
</compiler>
<applications>
<application path="Main.mxml"/>
</applications>
<modules/>
<buildCSSFiles/>
</actionScriptProperties>
here is a copy of my .flexProperties
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<flexProperties enableServiceManager="false" flexServerFeatures="6" flexServerType="8" flexWarLocation="D:/lcds/lcds.war" serverContextRoot="/WebContent" serverRoot="D:/eclipse-win32/workspace/net.eliasbalasis.flex.web.sample/WebContent" serverRootURL="http://localhost:8400/net.eliasbalasis.flex.web.sample" toolCompile="true" useServerFlexSDK="false" version="2"/>
D:/lcds/lcds.war i suspect is fine because it is the location of the LiveCycle Data Services WAR used to create the project (it is external anyway)
However, D:/eclipse-win32/workspace/net.eliasbalasis.flex.web.sample/WebContent is not fine at all. It is a location inside the project workspace. It should be referenced using some kind of variable, similarly to ${PROJECT_FRAMEWORKS} above.
I observed that there is a variable ${DOCUMENTS} under Eclipse-->Preferences-->Workspace-->Linked Resources which references the Eclipse project workspace root (extremely convenient).
Unfortunately, it seems that this variable can only be used within the context of other eclipse configuration files like .project and .classpath but not within the context of .actionScriptProperties and .flexProperties
This is the same exact issue I reported in the past (see above)
Flex Builder/Flash Builder family of products are the only Eclipse Based tools I have so far worked with that have such a big trouble handling file path locations relative to eclipse workspace root
OOPS. CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG PLEASE.
I just replaced the eclipse workspace root with ${DOCUMENTS} and the project still compiles and generates deployment packages successfully.
Perhaps the "Linked Resources" variables work in the context of flex configuration files.
However I am not 100% sure.
Please verify or otherwise provide a solution, as I am ready to select Flex technology products for the development of a new quite complex, multi developer, large scale system and this will be the only reason making me consider abandoning Flex and use other technology products

I loooove Eclipse for reason.
Yes, you are right, use of variables is great thing.
However, there are 2 ways
1.
Use all paths relative to Eclipse workspace root. No absolute paths anywhere and No variables.
2.
Use tool-supplied variables (like ${DOCUMENTS} supplied by FB4 plugin pointing to Eclipse document root)
However, although the variable is supplied by FB4 plugin, when a project is generated its files still contain absolute path references
I had to manually introduce the ${DOCUMENTS} variable in project files discovering that variables work in the context of FB4 plugin project files.
In earlier versions of FB plugin variables where not processed.
Congratulations FB4 team, you saved the day.
All I am saying is that there shouldn't be absolute paths in generated FB project files. Replacing manually currently works but it is not the easiest thing for all users. I happened to know where to look. Others may not.
I believe FB team has to consider making actual use of the supplied variables in next version of FB (or alternatively, not use variables at all)
p.s.
You will love Eclipse, trust me :-)

• Sequential Instantiation of BPEL instances for a BPEL process

Hi,
We are using Oracle SOA 10.1.3.4 & AIA2.5. We have a situation where the instances of a particular bpel process have to be executed in sequence. Also, the new instance should NOT be instantiated unless the previous instance is completed.
For example.. Lets say a SyncBPELReqABCS is invoking SyncBPELProvABCS via ESB. SyncBPELReqABCS is looping and spawning multiple instances of SyncBPELProvABCS in a certain sequential order in Asynchronous Fire-and-Forget model. Lets say bpel-instance#1, bpel-instance#2 and bpel-instance#3 are instances of SyncBPELProvABCS process. Even though SyncBPELReqABCS invokes (spawns) SyncBPELProvABCS in a fire and forget model, the bpel-instance#2 should not begin unless bpel-instance#1 is completed and bpel-instance#3 shuld not begin unless bpel-instance#2 is completed. This is because there is a dependancy between instacnes of SyncBPELProvABCS process.
Can this be achieved in Oracle SOA?? Can we restrict the instacnes of SyncBPELProvABCS to be created in this manner?
This is similar to "incompatability" of concurrent programs in ORACLE EBusiness Suite where one concurrent program waits till another concurrent program completes.
Please let me know if I am not clear. Appreciate an immediate help!
Thanks,

Hello,
Now that I look back at this tread, I can see that the questions I was asking and those of the original poster were somewhat different.
But they both fall under the heading of "Sequential Instantiation of BPEL instances for a BPEL process", and so I thought I would post some findings we've come across regarding that topic here.
There were a couple steps that helped us achieve the behavior we were looking for, and the were...
1) Change the BPEL oneWayDeliveryPolicy from "async.persist" to "sync"
This can be done in a couple locations. The first is within the EM application that comes bundled with SOA 11g, and the place to go is:EM > [farm name] > SOA > soa-infra (right click) > SOA Administration > BPEL Properties > More BPEL Configuration Properties > OneWayDeliveryPolicyOnce that value has been changed to "sync" (without the quotes), you'll need to stop and start the managed servers that run your SOA instance(s).
As you might expect, making a change at the "server level" like this impacts the default behavior of all composites deployed within your SOA instance. The second place to make this change - within the deployment descriptors for your BPEL process - impacts only the BPEL process that is being modified. To make the change at this level, you would edit your project's composite.xml file and, for each BPEL component, specify: <component name="BPELProcess1" version="2.0">
<implementation.bpel src="BPELProcess1.bpel"/>
<property name="bpel.config.oneWayDeliveryPolicy">sync</property>
<property name="bpel.config.transaction">required</property>
</component>What does this change do? Well, I don't claim to have a complete understanding, but in theory it prevents a thread handoff from taking place between the service that is initiates your BPEL process (like a receive) and the actual BPEL engine thread that processes the request.
In our case, where calls between (and within) composites were all of the synchronous "fire and forget" variety, this change also caused the entire processing of a message (across three different composites) to happen in a single thread (each message handoff was one-way, and with the oneWayDeliveryPolicy set to "sync", each was handled in a synchronous manner).
This also seemed to have the effect of serializing our message processing. For example, in a test case where a BPEL process reads from a JMS queue and 250 messages are enqueued, with the oneWayDeliveryPolicy set to "async.persist", I'd typically go in to EM and, on each refresh, find 5-8 instances of the composite that processes those messages to be in a "Running" state. Once the change to "sync" was made, I'd only see at most only 2 (where one had actually already finished; the audit system just hadn't yet caught up to that fact yet).
This also means that, with a "sync" delivery policy, messages (at least in our environment) are processed more slowly, but that was ok with us as we were more concerned with the behavior than the speed.
For details on this and other BPEL deployment descriptor properties, see:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_app_deploydesc.htm
Also, it's important to note that making the above change will alter the boundaries of your transactions as well as how faults are propagated. For more details, see:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/integration.1111/e10224/soa_transactions.htm
2) Front BPEL process with a Mediator object and enable message resequencing
While we're using the above change as a standard practice in our environment, this second change has only been nominally tested - but it could be of interest and so I'll mention it here.
Once you've updated your composite to include a mediator object in front of your BPEL process (if there isn't one there already), edit the .mplan for your mediator and change the "Resequence Level" from the default value of "operations" to "component". Then change the "Resequence Mode" from "off" to "FIFO" and specify an X-Path expression by which the mediator will be able to group your messages. This will help ensure that the messages are being processed in the order you expect.
More information about resequencing within the mediator component can be found:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10224/med_resequencer.htm
Hopefully the above information is useful - if not for the original poster, then for someone who comes along later with similar questions.
