BPM - APO related monitors

Hi,
Has anyone else set up BPM monitors in APO? I have set up the DP, SNP & PPDS alerts. But soes anyone know what they are exactly trying to monitor?
For example DP - Number of process CVC's. Does htis mean the amount of CVC's someone has displayed on a day?
Also for the SNP alertsfor total runtime - I;ve input my planning book and data view - yet it returns no alerts....it keeps giving 0 values.
If anyone has any information on these APo alerts - on what they are emant to be monitoring (as offical documentation is thin) or can share there own experience then that would be great.

Will you please clarify in which system you looking APO related tables .
If you are looking into SCM system, then , you can search through SE12 transaction "SAPAPO/* tables with search critera.

Issue on BPM(Business Process Monitoring): Reorganization of old alerts

Hi BPM Folks,
Is there any way for reorganization of old alerts to clean up the system?
Because a service desk message(Ticket) is created each time when a job is cancelled. i.e, The number of tickets are created as many times of the same job is cancelled.
Is there any way to accumulate the tickets related to the same job OR not to recreate the ticket again if the same job is cancelled?
We do see an option called u201Cmax number of alerts for each message idu201D in MTE properties of tcode RZ20. Is anything to do with this?

This issue is resolved.
Resolution:
1. BPMon alerts are automatically reorganized by the BPMon engine according to the settings in the BPMon session in node "Activation", tab "Alert reoganization".
2. If we have configured 1 service desk message per 1 alert, then that's what we'll get. If we don't want fewer messages, we will have to change the thresholds for the messages in node "Notification" in the BPMon setup session.

BPM: PI Message Monitor

Hi guys,
Have anyone configured Delta Message Monitor and Total Message Monitor in BPM?
I have followed document "Interface Monitoring with SAP Solution Manager Release ST 400, STSER
700_2008_2 and STA/PI 01L.
In spite of the fact I do have errors in PI trx. SXMB_MONI, BPM appears as everything ok. All the filters are correct and alert configuration was sucessfully generated.
Any tips?

BPM- Change Standard Monitoring Object

Hi,
I have few queries in BPM:
1). How to change a standard Montior?
     For example, if I want to change Monitoring Object Sales Document (KPSD0001) and add New Keyfigure or add a new
     selection parameter (eg. Plant) for a keyfigure. How do I do this??
2) In which database table/Transaction can I see all the Standard Monitoring Objects available.
3) How can I copy a standard Monitoring Object into a Z Monitor and make the required Changes.

1)As Ragu mentioned, it is not possible to change standard monitoring
object. Code is already fixed to the selection parameter.
2)It is stored in special way in satellite system. (Cluster table).
So it is not easy to check it like via SE16.
You can get list of available monitoring object and key figure from
the list that is available in service market place.
(You need authorization to access service market place).

Mapping activity step in BPM and related complex functions/conversions

Hello Experts,
a) I am trying to find out the complex conversions used in BPM process modelling activities such as mapping activity.
What are the different complex conversions/functions which are very widely used/required in BPM projects?
I am talking about custom functions and not the standard functions and rules provided by BPM mapping editor.
b) How do we write a log function which can be used in mapping to log some attributes used in mapping to the java log.
It is just additional logging feature on the top of standard BPM logs. But this additional log feature will be useful in reading logs for each step.
c) I am getting only one document having 3 examples for EJB mapping function (concat, filter, and one good fair )- can anyone provide any other functions and details around in this area?

Problem about Triggering BPM and Process monitor

Hi all,
I am new on the BPM domain. Now i got some problem working on it.
First, i want to execute a FM or Program in ECC, and then trigger the process of BPM, how to do this?
or maybe i can say like this, i want to start a BPM from ECC screen, how could i do?
Second, the requester could find the completed tasks in UWL with some simple text only,
if he wants to see the whole process status, is that possible?

For First, is the URL which in Process Repository, after clicking "start process", something like "http://www.example.org/bpem/..... "?
but seems i cannot open the URL for detail XML data. Could you give some more details?
For Second, go to UWL page, in Tasks tab, choose "completed tasks" in first dropdown box, you can get the task list then.
And it returns only "priority, completion date, status".
If the task is in progress, yes, process visualization will picture the state of the process.
But my customers (requesters), not admin, want to see the diagram after they submit, with status better. Any suggestion?

Two files in sequence - BPM co relation error

Hi Alll,
I have a simple query..
There are two files of different structure a.xml and b.xml
I have to process file a.xml and then b.xml
In the comm channel I have given *.xml
I am using a BPM for this...
I have used a rcv step .. send step .. wait and then a rcv step and a send step...
The second rcv step askd for a corelation whereas I am not collecting the files I am just simply instantiating the intefaces so a.xml runs first and then b.xml...
Ne idea on how to do this?

This is actually a file to rfc scenario where file a.xml is sent to rfc and on receiving the response from the rfc we have to run the b.xml file...
so I tried the bpm... but the second receiver in the bpm is causing the issue... ne idea on this?
so my bpm look like this
rcv - > synch send -> send -> rcv - > synch send- > send

BPM: After reactivating monitoring always send alert msg's

Hi all,
everytime, when I change something in the business process monitoring setup and "generate and activate monitoring", we got alert messages at the next check, which are wrong.
But it's only the first check after activating, at the second one all alerts are correct.
Does anyone know, why wrong alerts were send out at the first check and how to fix that?

in this case I only monitor background jobs.
I check the start delay and whether the job was cancelled and every time when i generate and activate it, I got an email (at the next check, not immediately) telling me that the jobs weren't started yet, but they were started.
I got this error for every job, but as mentioned only at the first check, one day later all checks work as intended.

APO relation with BI

How is APO, BI and R3 integrated. I am interested in the data flow.
How you move data from BI to APO and back.
Secondly, i want to know about datasource 0APO_PPDS_ORDER_01. Is it in bi or apo?

1.Bi/BW is used for reportimg purpose.Its is used to store the data from r/3 and as well as from APO.
2.Data can be taken into BI/BW from APO by creating data source for that particular planning area.
Then u create transformations and DTP process to transfer data from source to destination.
Infopackage is also created which is used as data containers for the transfer process.
3.LiveCache is a temporary storage area for the SCM system where the data can used while planning.
4.So u can transfer data from APO Live cache to External BI/BW infocubes.
5.Before transfer of data 1st we need to take care whether the infocube created has all the infoobjects that are used in POS of APO.
6.APO has a internal BI/BW where u can transfer the data from internal APO infocube to external...U can pass data for a single keyfigure or multiple keyfigures...For that u need data extractors in BI/BW.
7.APO and R/3 data can be passed using CIF integration model..

Queries on Business Process Monitoring (BPM) & Interface Monitoring

Dear all,
I have got a few queries on the subject and would greatly appreciate any valuable inputs.
Before I proceed, want to clarify that I have downloaded all overtly available documents (PDFs, SIMs) from the following URLs:

I may not have read them all though since I come from a Functional angle.
Kindly reply to whatever query you can please. Not all of them are sequential.
Queries:
(1) How are Interfaces with External Systems (beyond the firewall of the enterprise) monitored ?
(2) Is it really worth listing all such External Systems as Logical Components in their own right ? I guess this makes sense if at a Process Step level, one wants to list a 'specific' Logical Component involved instead of 'generic' term like External System. However, it would benefit only if Interface Monitoring is feasible; isn't it ?
(3) There are Interfaces which are built between SAP and External System and serve various Business Processes under various Business Scenarios. In such circumstances, it is not easy to list which Process 'owns' the Interface. Therefore, under a normal Implementation Project structure (SOLAR02), choosing a particular Process Step, getting into 'Development' Tab and listing the Interface Program name may not be feasible, since there is no particular place where it belongs.
Is it therefore a good idea to create namesake Scenario for capturing all interfaces and list a library of all interfaces and store documents right there ? If so, will these namesake processes be of any use in BPM at a later date ?
(4) If my primary objective is to accomplish Interface Monitoring and not Business Process Monitoring per se, is it a good idea to create a new Solution Landscape, and manually create Business Processes that are suited to list Interfaces than to assign Template or Implementation Project to the Solution Landscape, and inherit those Processes ?
(5) What is it that a SAP Competence (Support) Centre will find as a 'major' gain in activating BPM to monitor Interfaces alone - is there something that SolMan's BPM based Interface Monitoring gives more than what PI level reporting may provide them with ?
(6) In Interfaces with Non-SAP Systems (some of them are old/ proprietary legacy systems with Credit Card companies; some of them are like 'Active Directory' servers), is it possible to define Metrics for BPM that such systems will contribute to SolMan, for reporting purposes ? Or, is it too much to hope for

1) Its obvious, if your firewall blocks all your request to external enterprise, it is not possible to monitor.
3) These interfaces are not the one related to development tab in SOLAR02, you have to map them from BPM.
4) Yes, you don't have to depend on any project for your processes, you can add it in your Solution Landscape.
