BPM Web Based Process Modelling

Hi Folks, I remember seeing a webminar or a video on SDN which demonstrated modifying of BPM projects from within Internet Explorer. I cannot seem to find it now. If anyone else seen it or can point me to the link or can tell me which version it is in I would really be great ful.
Thanks

Hi,
I think you are talking about Gravity. You can find the demo here:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/elearn?rid=/library/uuid/80e7b554-fcf5-2c10-2e97-f9eebad9c723
However, you clarify the "value proposition". It is not intended to manipulate the NWDS projects through the web browser. The main use cse is to do process modeling in a collaborative way. There is no tight integration with the NWDS expect maybe a file based data exchange.
Best regards,
Stefan

  • Migrate BPM 7.11 process modells to BPM 7.2

    Hi,
    last week we have CE7.2 installed. Now there is a problem in migrating existing BPM 7.11 models to 7.2.
    Do anybody have already some experience in doing so?
    Regards

    Hello Martin.
    We have such experience. At first you have to change all dependencies of your SC from 7.11 to 7.20 (if you use NWDI import new SCs in your track and resync it in NWDS). Then build your DC with process model, and after this look for warnings. There you can find which advise you to convert process model from 7.11 to 7.20, apply quick fix and you model will be converted in right format. Remember about max size of warnng pool in your NWDS, not all of them may be shown.
    If this information doesn't help you, please provide more info about your project infrastructure and etc.

  • Effective Language for Business Process Modelling in a Web Community

    It's a very exciting idea of having business process definition/innovation a community driven process.
    Just Imagine a stituation where somebody can innovate a process on a theoritical level which is then perfected by   business community opinion/examples for benchmarking, effectiveness, relevance etc.
    The ultimate business community dream would be Finding their process in the community. Finding merits and demerits of their process. Explore for a refinement to the process. Getting a copy of their newly created process and
    droping it into their IT system and the wonderful IT system upgrading itself to the new process and executing it.
    The Impact of simplification would be enormous:
    Just check out the possibilities
    Every businessman would be an IT user to get ideas for business and business execution
    The IT Guy would be recognized as process maker
    For a business entity Presentation during AGM could be extra transparent :-).
    A very concrete step in this direction would be to have a language or tool which is very easy to understand and drives people for exploration.
    My Wish would be a Visual web tool which defines a specific business process in the most simple form, and from there somebody can explore the enhancements to the process.
    For example a simple selling process done in medicine shop is
    listening the order verbally , delivering it immediately, getting cash immediately and [typing the Invoice on XL or Word or POS machines], printing it and then giving to Customer.
    after selecting this business process on the tool one should be able to explore the possible process
    enhancements with known business benefits
    like
    a) offer credit facility to customer--> just a worklist to collect pending money
    b) take order now and supply later for non available medicines
    c)Start home delivery
    The businessman should be able to select (1) or (2) which then becomes his new process.
    This can be sent to his IT landscape which should be able to interprete it and then grow itself Ah....
    dreaming
    [or atleast the model should tell the IT guy what to do!!].
    The generic business Process enhancements Options are not too many and can be defined and classified
    See the Options in the above mentioned business process context
    1)Automation[Create Purchase order from ]
    2)Increasing depth [The above example a,b,c are for increasing depth]
    3)Step simplification[In the above example instead of word using the POS Machine is simple]
    4)Resource utilization[If you have a PC and don't want to buy POS Machine then type the invoice on a Word :-)]
    5)Delegation
    5)Workforce optimization {any examples :-)community driven}
    7)Process optimization (How to deliver the medicine route wise)
    8)Colloboration (Using courier to send medicine)
    9)Knowledge provision (giving sales/payment trends,)
    The idea is so simple but making this tool highiely context(business) sensitive and intuitive is challenge.
    But anyway it's not impossible to have a business process language which is effective and an IT systems for which starting point is a business process. The IT system which takes your business process and executes them
    wonderfully.
    looking forward for this future

    Hi Dilip,
    Thanks a lot for your reply.
    I'm also interested to know from community what are different tools used by them for process modelling?
    What are their merits?
    1)are they easily understandabale
    2) do they come with business context
    3)whether they can be used in a web comunity? Like somebody can give feedback or business case for a particular business process/step.
    4)Does it drive the IT automation
    5)Are there any appservers which take business model and generate/grow applications
    6)How the different modelling applications should communicate?
    7)Common standards
    For example
    I have used rational rose and RAD like VB they are complicated/simple enough to generate model based applications but the business representation and business context is totally missing. I would seek something with more business context or knowledgebase.

  • BPM Process modeling

    Hi, I am creating process diagram in BPM Composer but within 30s to 40s the page getting auto refreshed and becoz of that I am not able to save my process model.
    how can I solve this problem?

    It's not that it's hard, it's just that there are a few things that you have to know how to do. You might find the step-by-step instructions in this to be helpful - http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/obpm/11g/r1/firstProcess/firstprocess_obpm11g.htm. If you struggle with this, here are a few questions that might to help us understand where you are from a knowledge and a process perspective.
    1. Are you using Composer or Oracle BPM Studio (JDeveloper)? Reason for asking is the mapping is done differently in the two tools.
    2. Have you created an object in your catalog that represents the structure of the payload information you want to pass through the process?
    3. Do you have a process variables in your process that you will use to carry this payload through the process?
    4. Have you defined the Human Tasks for the Interactive activities in the process?
    5. If you have Human Tasks defined for the Interactive activities, have you defined the mapping of incoming and outgoing information using the Data Associations link?

  • BPM Process Model Hierarchy

    Hi I am working in BPM and I just want to know that Is there any way to see the process model Hierarchy means if I click a process it should show me the other processes related with it.

    The issue is related to the Program Category
    In trans PEST when assigning the program category there are actually two categories with a description 'Execute Posting Run'
    It would appear one relates to RPCIPE00 and the other to RPCIPE00_OLD
    When I switched category it solved my problem

  • Automating a process through VBA using web-based tool PMD

    I'm currently trying to automate a process of extracting information from PMD into an excel (or access if necessary) spreadsheet by using VBA in Microsoft Excel. So far i haven't found a way of communicating through VBA code with PMD. In our company's SAP there is a recorder that creates a code to simply copy into VBA but with PMD being a purely web-based tool there are not any options "clearly" available.
    Does anyone know of a script-recorder, or just any method, to include PMD processes within VBA? I'm stumped..

    I'm new to the community and I just realized I may have posted this in the wrong place. Still, any help would be great.

  • Making Fire ID process web based

    Hi, I am very new to Essbase. I am asked to investigate making the Fire ID process web based, whereas at the moment the manager has to change the password directly in Essbase. We are using Essbase 7.1.5. I was going through the posts and found out that Essbase doesn't provide for changing the passwords directly through any Java API, but can be done so through MAXL script. Can you please tell me what classes and methods I can use to first create the MAXL script on the fly and then execute it. Thanks.

    You can use the IEssDomain.openMaxlSession() method to open a MaxL session; the IEssMaxlSession object that is returned lets you execute maxl statements.
    Note: these methods go away in the System 9 Java API (but I don't know for sure which version).. Java API 9.3.1 has security functionality built in; it has an IEssOlapUser object with a changePassword method.

  • Custom Unattended Process Model Based Upon Duration of Test

    I am looking to develop a test system that:
    Runs the Batch Process Model
    Displays a Custom UUT Serial Number dialog once upon start
    This dialog will also display the desired test duration and various instrument settings
    Loops on the MainSequence for a fixed amount of time OR Loops on the main sequence for a fixed number of iterations
    This should be implemented in the process model
    Does not display any pop-up dialogs during testing
    The goal is for the test to run "unattended"
    I started with a copy of the Test UUTs process model, but wanted to get some advice on how others would design this system.
    A few questions:
    What is the best method for implementing the looping on the MainSequence for a fixed amount of time in the process model?
    What is the best method for avoiding pop-up dialogs from occurring during the test?
    Thanks!
    CLA, CTA

    Put the call to MainSequence inside of a While loop. Use Seconds() to get current time, store in variable and then measure difference between subsequent calls to Seconds() and that variable to determine if your timeout has been met. You can also increment a counter in this loop as well.
    Use custom PreUUT, PostUUT, ProcessModelPostStepRunTimeError and ProcessModelPostStepFailure callbacks. All TestStand-based popups occur in those four areas. There are examples of handling run time errors and failures in the TestStand example folder.

  • Using ARIS process models as the foundation for Business Process Monitoring

    Hello,
    Do anyone know if you can use IDS Scheer ARIS process models and the integration between IDS Scheer ARIS and SAP Solution Manager as the starting point for end-to-end Business Process Monitoring (BPM) so that you get the process description/model automatically in Solution Manager BPM and just need to configure the monitoring (more or less that you monitor against the modelled process in ARIS)?
    Is there an API for SAP Solution Manager BPM so that non-SAP solutions/systems can be part of the end-to-end process monitoring?
    If not, how do you usually integrate non-SAP solutions that are part of an end-to-end process that you want to monitor into SAP Solution Manager BPM, or do you not use Solution Manager BPM for this?
    What is the roadmap for SAP around SAP Solution Manager BPM when it comes to non-SAP systems/applications/solutions and the new SAP NetWeaver BPM functionality?
    Regards,
    Markus Johansson

    Hello Markus,
    I just paste my answer form the other forum entry Re: Business process management strategy in SAP?
    in a nutshell BPM Netweaver is focussing on so called edge-processes (usually
    SOA-based and often workflow related). These edge-processes a thought to enhance exisitng core business processes and should provide the fast competitive edge versus competitors. Examples would be also xApps. For this Netweaver provides process modelling tools, where you can get exectuable code through the integration between CE and PI. The monitoring part for these processes is mainly targeting business end-users and business manager.
    Business Process Monitoring with Solution Manager focusses on core business processes which are realized with the "conventional", "old" SAP Architecture, e.g. Order-to-Cash or Procure-to-Pay. You get a combination of technical monitors (average response times of transactions, background job runtimes, monitors for IDOC or qRFC processing) and application related monitors (you get more than 200 pre-configured application monitors out-of-the-box like number of overdue customer orders or outbound deliveries or number of deliveries with goods issue posted but no invoice). The target group here is the support organization of the customer, from Basis-Support over application support on IT side to process owner on business department side.
    Overview presentations can be found under
    https://service.sap.com/bpm --> Media Library --> Customer Information -->
    "Business Process Monitoring - Part 1 & 2".
    Or look under https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-processmonitoring
    In the end BPM Netweaver and BPMon SolMan are complementary for different purposes and different target groups.

  • Business Process Modelling Language Desirable Features

    Hi All,
    It will be quite interesting to see what features the BPX community would want to be in the “Visual” Business Process Modelling *** programming language which on one end use self-contained applications that use Web services as activities that implement business functions and on the other  has interactions with other J2EE like web components .
    For example I would like to see something developed by SAP where the Business Process mapping can be done with a strict protocol in ARIES so that applications can be built in the Visual composer and the BPX can visually do the one or more of the following
    1.     On Screen “chain End Chain ” valdiation
    2.     Loop conditions
    3.     Branching conditions
    4.     Variable initialization
    5.     Web service message preparation
    The idea being the BPX can generate a running prototype for pattern based processes through grahhical interfaces and unless something really typical needs to be done, the coding can be eliminated.
    Taking an example:
    On a simple sales order if the stock is not adequate a purchase order needs to be fired.
    The Business process mapping of the same can be done in ARIES where some available components (business objects like sale order) from R3 etc are available for modeling.
    If this process is to be web enabled then one can use the business process modeling to develop a quick application in Visual Composer where one can use ESA for Sale Order as a Model and build screens based on that. The screen flow can also be built in Visual Composer to take you to through the various tabs.
    The data flow across the various tabs also can be done through the component controller and the BPX should be able to map that visually.
    The business event (Stock < Sale order quantity ) can be handled through a branching condition  and web service message preparation to either generate a email message or fire a purchase order (handled in XI and exposed in one common place of the Business Process modeling Tool).
    Marilyn : thanks for the offer of acting as a interface between the SAP development team and some of us with the wishlist. I would certainly love to be involved in the epochal development

    Why leaving the tool? Why ARIS and VC and CAF and many more different tools?
    I would prefer a tool that gives me - depending from the user - different flavors and views of my model. A tool that in one flavor allows me to define the process on a higher level, then in another flavor allows me to implement the application(s) of the process in a non-coding approach and then a flavor that allows me to pimp the application(s) with a coding approach.
    All three flavors are working on the very same model. The different flavors immediately see the changes done by other flavors. A kind of realtime modelling.
    The tool itself is not necessarily a single-environment approach, but can have one flavor running in the browser, the other one in a locally installed IDE. But still all of them use the same terminology. A data service here ,is a data service there, Business Object here is a Business Object there (and not a bean or a class or entity service etc.). That also would allow to have the different modeling users naturally move between the flavors, with a hard core programmer also being able to move to the Business Process Modeling tool, and the BPX also being able to write a small conversion routine.
    Perhaps the proper term is "BP & App Suite", which serves all types of modelers involved: Business Process Modelers, Business Process Experts, Developers.
    In the SAP world these tools could be: ARIS, Visual Composer, DevStudio/ABAP Workbench/.NET.
    Today this is not the case: we have more than 200 tools (and we say we are not a tools company) and not really an exchange of models between those tools. Not to mention the different terminology...

  • Applet-Servlet with RMI or HTTP? : for a web based network monitoring tool.

    Hi,
    I need help to make a decision to choose an implementation technique for a tool that I am creating.
    I am creating a utility to display a table of RX and TX bandwidth information in real time from a network device X
    onto a client's web browser.
    I have a JTable based applet to display bandwidth information. However I am running this as a standalone applet. I want
    to create a web based solution (applet/servlet model) to make life easier for the end user.
    As for displaying the bandwidth information, I am using Runtime.exec() function to remote execute commands using ssh/rsh.
    This not only seems to impose a lot of process and network latency overhead, but also seems impractical from a
    security point of view, hence I need a real client/server model to have efficient and secure serialized data transfer across
    the network (through HTTP etc) between the client's web browser and X.
    X has a web server running on it. It essentially is a Linux box (CentOS). I can create a JNLP definition to launch an applet
    from X onto a remote client's web browser. The real problem is: what is the most efficient way to go about the
    servlet implementation? Is it wise to use HTTP get/post? or RMI is the way to go?
    Also I'd appreciate suggestion on any different approaches than what I have in mind above.
    Thanks,
    Rajiv

    Thanks for your time, but I cannot make a front-end in C. It has to be in JSP (or in ASP but I haven't tried yet to program in VBA).
    So that is why I am asking what is the best way of attaching a JSP front-end to the given API.
    PS: Why should I code a .dll to provide a JNI interface for the api? Isn't the JNI interface capable of doing such?

  • Migrate from GUI to web based application

    what's the easy and the fast method to migrate java GUI application to a web based aplpication.
    thanks in advance for information

    There is no simple or easy or fast way if the application were not properly designed.
    Does it follow the Model-View-Controller pattern? If it does, your migration path is easier. If it is the typical app (the button listener method does it all), the migration path is not.
    I guess that you will have to redesign the app and reuse only very specific parts of your code, like formulae calculations.
    Code is cheap, analysis and testing are not.

  • Authentication between Single Sign-On and Web based applications

    Hi everyone,
    I need to create a way in Portal 10g (10.1.2.0.2) that allow me to do the following:
    Once the user is logged on Portal (against Single Sign-On - SSO) he doesn't need to retype his username/password when he access a web based application throught the portal, in my case, an ASP application (not .NET, just ASP).
    I made a test creating a External Application in SSO and after publishing this portlet (external application) inside portal.
    It worked, BUT I was prompted to inform username/password to log on the aplication.
    So, the user end up entering his password twice.
    Does anybody know a way to acomplish this task?
    The documentation I'm researching is:
    Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On
    Administrator's Guide
    10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    B14078-02
    Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On
    Security Guide
    10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    B13999-03
    Thank you very much,
    Diogo Santos.

    have figured out how to secure any HTML, ASP, PHP, CFM, etc. web page again Portal / OID using the PDK toolkit.
    Using AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) and one Oracle Stored Procedure just adding a simple Javascript call to any HTML, ASP, PHP, etc. web page can secure it via Oracle SSO (OID). Access to any secured web page will require that it to be linked from an authenticated Portal session or a page opened in an authenticated Portal session.
    This process can be easily modified to add in group security etc. This is just my starting point.
    1) Create a stored procedure
    # Make sure it has access to portal.wwctx_api.is_logged_on
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE login_ajax_check (
    display_error IN number default NULL) AS
    BEGIN NULL;
    If portal.wwctx_api.is_logged_on = false then
    htp.prn('DENY');
    ELSE
    htp.prn('ALLOW');
    END IF;
    Exception when others then htp.p('DENY');
    END;
    2) Use this Javascript in any page you wish to secure.
    <-- Begin Paste Here -->
    <script>
    var allowgo=2
    function ajaxCallRemotePage(url)
    if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
    // Non-IE browsers
    req = new XMLHttpRequest();
    req.onreadystatechange = processStateChange;
    req.open("GET", url, false);
    req.setRequestHeader("If-Modified-Since", "Sat, 1 Jan 2000 00:00:00 GMT");
    req.send(null);
    else if (window.ActiveXObject)
    // IE
    req = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
    req.onreadystatechange = processStateChange;
    req.open("GET", url, false);
    req.setRequestHeader("If-Modified-Since", "Sat, 1 Jan 2000 00:00:00 GMT");
    req.send();
    else
    return; // Navigateur non compatible
    // process the return of the "ajaxCallRemotePage"
    function CheckPortal()
    ajaxCallRemotePage('[Your page calling the procedure from above]');
    function processStateChange()
    if (req.readyState == 4)
    if (req.status == 200)
    if (req.responseText.substring(0,4) == 'ALLO')
    allowgo = 0;
    else
    allowgo = 1;
    function doPage()
    if (allowgo==1)
    window.location='[Your login or error page]';
    CheckPortal();
    doPage();
    </script>
    <-- End Paste Here -->
    That's it!!! Super easy. It works great too.

  • Web based worklist not working...

    Hello,
    (on wlpi 2.1 on weblogic sp2)
    I've created a process that utilizes a stateless session bean. Every thing works
    fine when using the fat-client worklist.
    I wanted to use the web-based worklist with my process, so I did the following:
    1.) Installed the %wlint_home%/samples/bpm_api/jsp/worklist.war from the weblogic
    console.
    2.) Tweaked the "startWeblogic.cmd" file (I'm in NT) to add the wlpi-worklist.jar
    file into the classpath. (this is all in the reamde file in %wlint_Home%/samples/bpm_api/jsp/)
    This works at first, as I can get to the login screen, but as soon as I log in, I
    get a "Classnotfound error" saying it can't find my home interface for my session
    bean.
    So, I figured, "Must not be in the classpath (somehow)". I added my bean .jar file
    into the classpath, and then try again. I get a different error that says "Classnotfound
    error" for the EJBHelper. Same error happens on the fat client in both cases.
    I can simply take out my startWeblogic classpath changes, and restart the server,
    and the fat-client works again (but the jsp worklist doesn't not -- no surprise.)
    Has anyone been able to get the jsp-based worklist to work with a process that uses
    an EJB?

    I totally lost my internet connection via the router WRT54GS V6
    I am connected directly into the computer from my cable modem.
    I have tried everything. Upgarded firmware, factory default reset, setting the software again and again.
    When I run Easylink Advisor it always reads, no internet...like I said the modem is working when plugged directly into my computer.
    All proper lights are working on the router and modem.
    Could the router be just be broken?
    It seems to be getting worse and worse.
    help please.
