BPMN & IPM

Hi,
1. I am new to the BPMN/BPEL/IPM, we are implementing IPM, what are the Oracle training you can recommend?
2. Is BPMN being used in IPM 11g? which is more appropriate to use with IPM whether it is BPMN or BPEL only?
Is it possible to use only BPEL(without BPMN) with IPM and get all the functionalities from IPM 11g?
3. What is the advantage using BPMN instead of BPEL with IPM 11g in a technical point of view?
Thank You

1. I am new to the BPMN/BPEL/IPM, we are implementing IPM, what are the Oracle training you can recommend?Check Oracle University courses. I think you are looking for a BPM or BPM Suite training and IPM one (not sure if there is one for 11g already)
2. Is BPMN being used in IPM 11g? which is more appropriate to use with IPM whether it is BPMN or BPEL only?BPEL Process Manager is an execution engine to run BPEL workflows (it is a part of UCM/ECM and I believe, also BPM). With BPEL PM you have to design your workflows in JDev using XML-like Business Process Execution Language (BPEL). BPMN (Modelling Norm) is a norm which allows more business user friendly modelling of workflows. Since 11g it is also designed in JDev, but it is my understanding that you may use different libraries.
Which one to use? If you are experienced in BPEL and you will design workflows yourselves, you may go with BPEL only. If a customer wants to design their workflows and they are not experienced with BPEL, BPM Suite might be a better choice for you. It is a part of IPM license (sadly, not included in other ECM products).
Is it possible to use only BPEL(without BPMN) with IPM and get all the functionalities from IPM 11g?I believe it is - BPEL basically enables calling of services. BPM might give you a bit more functionality when it comes to modelling, debugging workflows without actually running/implementing it, etc.
3. What is the advantage using BPMN instead of BPEL with IPM 11g in a technical point of view?See above.

  • Changed Outlook Contact Form back to IPM.Contact - now I can't save contact in Public Folder

I recently changed the Contact form that we were using back to the default IPM.Contact. I did this so that it  would be consistent for only a few of us had a custom contact template to use and it made it difficult to share contact information. After
changing the contact default back to IPM.Contact and changing all the contacts to reflect the default Message class, no can add a contact to the Public Folder contact file. I have tried several different setting for the permsion. Publishing Author, Publish
Editor, Owner, it still gives the error
The item cannot be saved to this folder. The folder was deleted, or you do not have permission. Do you want to save a copy of it in the degfualt folder for the item.
When I changed the form back to IPM.Contact  i ran the omglass.exe to change it on all the contacts in the public folder.
Please advise for no contacts can now be added to our company contact list

    Hi,
Please right-click this public folder, click Properties. In the General tab, make sure the field of "When posting to this folder, use" is set to IPM.Contact.
Please restart Outlook with Outlook /checkclient switch(Start > Run > type Outlook /checkclient and enter) to have a try. If it fails, please create a new Outlook profile to have a try:

    Hi Matt
Till you get exact answer, try indirect approach. I did view page source and could not find the details in the source code. Then I clicked on image to show in new browser and thats when I got this link: You can dig into this imageRenderer.jsp file that can be found in one of the WAR files shown below. Look into EARs also that my have WARs with this jsp. Mostly there should be some sort of Servlet also to display the audit trail. I just checked from bpm/workspace Process Tracking Tab. I did not looked from EM Console tracking tabs though.
beaHome\Oracle_SOA1\soa\applications\OracleBPMWorkspace.ear has a OracleBPMWorkspace.war file. See if this direction helps

    Hi,
There seems to issues in the profiles which being created in UCM.
Can you check the Trigger Field which has been configured for the profiles ? If the trigger field has been configured as Type, can you change it to any of the other custom defined Information fields and then create the application.
To access the Trigger Fields navigate to the WCC web console, Administration --> Admin Applets --> Config Manager --> Profiles --> Trigger Field.
    Thanks

    Hi Julika,
The error message might not be related to the activities itself. I assume your model is not well structured. Consider that the following points aren't disregarded:
    * Never "jump" out of a particular branch into a different part of the model or into another branch
    * All functions/events have only one incoming/outgoing connection
    * Process parallel flows should be specified by splitting and joining AND/XOR rules, or they should contain either one splitting AND/XOR rule only for which there is no other connection between their paths, or one joining AND/XOR rule only that is met by all connections.
Let me know if it did not help to fix your problem.

  • Error while execution of BPEL processes in IPM Solution

    Hi All,
I am working on the IPM Imaging solution in which Invoice data is captured from OFR in XML format , pushed into IPM and then BPEL process is invoked to push the data into apps tables.
I am facing following error while invoking a procedure which is in apps schema from BPEL by giving it parameters.
actually this procedure/function will accept the payloads as parameters and will give some output parameters, but while processing i am getting following error :
    Non Recoverable System Fault :
Exception occurred when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'PreImportCleanup' failed due to: Parse struct conversion error. An error occurred while parsing XML representing a Java struct. Unable to convert the XSD element P_INVOICE_REC whose user defined
type is AXF.AXF_PREIMPORT_CUSTOM_PKG_R_IN to a Java struct.
Cause: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-04044: procedure, function, package, or type is not allowed here ".
The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception.
Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.
Any suggestion to get over this issue will be so helpful !
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Nupur,
We had requirement for automating invoice processing, came to know we need to use ODC/ODDC,OFR,OIPM 11g and SOA 11g with EBS.
    My questions are:
    1. do we need OFR for this.
    2. if so how to configure OFR with OIPM
    3. do we need to use imaging solution in OIPM for invoice processing and not managed attaachements
    4. whts the flow is it frm EBS to OIPM or OIPM to EBS(populate invoice) or viceversa
    5. can we do invoice processing automated without AXF solution.
    Thanks a lot in Advance,
    Ra.

  • How to configure IPM alert in IPM 2.6 for Windows?

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to configure IPM to send out an alert when the performace reaches or falls beyond certain threshold?  In this case, I am trying to create a new HTTP operation.  On the General tab > Latency Threshold Settings > Action Event Type, I select SNMP Trap & NMVT Alert.  However, I did not see an option to configure where the alerts will be sent to, as well as, other alert settings.  Thank you in advance.

IPM does not send out the alerts itself.  Instead, the device will send an SNMP trap if the trigger condition is met.  Where these traps are sent depends on your device configuration.  Make sure you have defined at least one trap recipient on your IP SLA source device, and make sure that you have configured:
    snmp-server enable traps rtr

  • BPM worklist app views are not visible in IPM task viewer

    Hi,
we upgraded our system from 11.1.1.3.0 to
    weblogic 10.3.5.0
    SOA 11.1.1.5.0 with BPEL processes
ECM with IPM and UCM 11.1.1.5.0
after upgrade i have problem with profiles in IPM task viewer page. Views are created in BPM worklistapp and all users can see tasks assigned to them there. But those views are not visible in IPM task viewer page (i tried it using driver page). Because of missing profiles/views users can't see and process tasks assigned to them. In log files isn't raised any error message.
Everything was working before upgrade. Can someone help me with this? What can i have wrong there?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help

    Hi Renuka,
There are basically two ways to create an ADF UI for a BPM Task:
    1. Generate it from the task
    2. Create a ADF Taskflow based on Human Workflow Task
Since I tell this by heart, I might be slightly wrong in the terms.
You probably want to try the second option. It is accessible from the "New Gallery". You'll have to provide the Human Task from the BPM project, but then you can build up the ADF Taskflow by your self, based on the customizations of the rest of your application.
Should not be rocket science for someone with ADF11g experience. Since it is not my dayly job, I need to figure it out every time again ;). But I did it in the past and it wasn't so hard.

  • Problem while deploying BPMN to Weblogic

I am trying to deploy a reasonably complex Oracle BPM application (BPMN) to Weblogic 10.3.4 server installed on RHLinux 5. The issue is I am getting a connection timeout exception in the deployment log and hence the deployment fails.

  • Business Catalog updated with BPEL refs, not with BPMN refs

When adding BPEL processes to the SCA component you see the Business catalog modules "References" and "Services" are updated. However, when adding BPMN processes the Business catalog is not updated (and btw you cannot check "Expose as an web service" when creating a BPMN process like you can with BPEL processes). In my opinion the current solution seems incomplete: viewing the "Exposed services" lane of my composite.xml I should expect all of them in the Business Catalog, not only the BPEL ones. It seems Oracle's work behind the Business Catalog component has not finished yet or is there some logic behind this behaviour?
I am working with version 11.1.1.6

    corrected spelling errors

    Dan,
No I did not use Reusable or Manual processes, I use processes (asyn) with a Message Start event, and yes, I see them nicely in the Composite's Exposed Services and the wsdl's in the project's SOA Content folder. But my 'concern' is why the Business Catalog (BC) is not populated with BPMN processes like it is with BPEL processes. In the "Services" module of the BC I see the submodule BPEL with my BPEL processes so I had expected a submodule BPMN with my BPMN processes. From a business perspective I certainly would also see my business processes in the BC, so for me it seems 'unbalanced'
(I ran against this issue when using correlation:
In the process receiving an 'in flight' message I defined a Message catch event step in where I defined in the box "Message Exchange" Type :"Define Interface". Then building the process that throws the message to the in-flight process instance I defined the Message Throw event step and in that step I had expected to be able to use the Message Exchange Type "Use Interface" but that was not possible because I could only select BPEL services.
I solved this by selecting "Process call" in stead of "Use Interface".)

  • Error in Oracle IPM 10gR3

    Hi
I am trying to install IPM 10gR3 as per the install.doc provided by the Oracle. I completed the setup of the first server. At one point, it ask me to Run IBPMServer /diag from the command prompt to start the Oracle I/PM services configured on this Request machine.
But I am getting following error in that and server is not starting.

Please somebody help me this regard
    Thanks,

All services are dependent on one-another. Seems like from below, Security, Storage and UCON have not been setup properly. Check each one carefully and retry.
    - Set the system to use local security for now and it can easily be switched later.
    - Turn on Verbose logging in the configuration tool - more detail will be added to the logs.
    - Filer Server error is usually because the SQL user/pwd are incorrect.
    Hope this helps!

  • Using a bpmn variable in xsl transformation

    Hi,
I am creating a BPMN process in which the first call is to a find service.
Passing the values directly to the service call fails as it says the parameter "value[]" is required(and it is nested again and again in the schema).
To pass the data to the service I created an xsl transformation, which allows us to select what goes in the payload and what not (Adding a choose node).
But the xsl transformation needs the source schema and the target schema. Since this is the first service call so I don't have a schema based object which is already populated.
So I created a custom object of the type of the request object of the service I want to use and used it as the source and the service call arguments as the target.
And before the service call I used a script activity to pass the value which came to me from the payload of the bpm process to the dummy object i created which will then be used in transformation.
But the bpm process gets suspended on the script task which tries to pass the variable to the xsl transformation.
Please guide me, how to resolve this problem.

To paraphrase your question: Can the value stored in a property of the ActiveDocument object be used as part of the string to define a computed column in a Result?
    Yes

  • How to use ABAP Webservice to Trigger the start of BPMN

    Hello,
My scenario is that i define a webservice in the SAP ECC system and import it in the process composer as the service interface. As to the start event, i set the above service interface and operation as the trigger service.
After then, i call this webservice in the user exit of a T-Code. However, the BPMN is not started by this webservice call.
Anyone can explain on this and tell me how to use the ABAP webservice as the starting event service interface?
    Thanks in advance
    Erick

    Hi Erick,
When you develop a process model and use some arbitrary service interface in the message start event then this will be exposed on the Java / BPM system you deploed the process definition on.
That allows you to start the process via this web service once you know its endpoint.
So in case you want to start your process from the ABAP side you would need to call this endpoint on the Java side out of your ABAP system.
Simply calling the web service / code on your ABAP system and hoping that this will also invoke the Java stack won't work I AFAIK.
    Best regards,
    Martin

  • How to read JMS message properties from BPEL or BPMN process

    Hi all,
I have a JMS Adapter that consumes messages from a remote ActiveMQ queue and I don't find the way the get the properties of the JMS message as I would like to map them in BPEL or BPMN process variable. I only manage to get the content of the message.
I've also read that if using a MapMessage, one of the map entry can be mapped directly and that the other map entries go to jca.jms.Map.xxxx where xxxx is key of the map entry.
But how can I map those "jca.jms.Map.xxxx" properties on process variables ? and how to map JMS Properties (that seem to be mapped on jca.jms.JMSProperty.xxxx) to process variables ?
    I use SOA Suite version : 11.1.1.4.0
    Thanks for your help
