BPR content in solar01

What determines the content available in BPR in the solution manager?Even if I do some changes in scope/system landscape in solar_project_admin, the BPR view remains the same. Currently I could see  two views of BPR content .(One at the process level and the other at process step level). Is this the entire content available? Does the content change if different satellite systems are brought into scope? Any additional configuration/settings with regard to content visible in BPR?

Hi Prasad,
the BPR content is determined by the software component ST-ICO. It contains all sort of objects types that are also available in Solar01. When you start the BPR selection only those object types are visible that fit to the selected object type in solar01; e. g. to see all scenario in BPR you need to selected the node "Business Scenarios" in solar01. The system landscape of your project is used to highlight those elements of the BPR that fit to your landscape. Other elements are shown as gray, but it is possible to select them. In this case, you will get a proposal to enhance your landscape accordingly.
Best regards,
Michael

  • How/where do I get BPR-content for SAP best practices into solar01/solar02?

I am looking to use SAP Solution Manager to perform a blueprint & (parts of) a configuration/realization with a number of SAP ERP best practices as the starting point. Unfortunately the BPR-content for my solman seems to be missing as I cannot find any of the processes defined on http://service.sap.com/bestpractices when scoping the blueprint for my project in solar01. We have ST ICO150 loaded, or so I am told.
Is there additional content out there somewhere so I can add processes/scenarios into solar01 from best practices?

  • BPR Content for 4.7

I would like to use Solution Manager and the BPR content to define business scenarios, business process, and process steps for an implementation project.  When I browse the BPR in solar01, I notice that all the business scenarios are for ECC 5 or ECC 6, but we are working with version 4.7.  If I create a scenario and go to the BPR to browse for business processes, I can see that there are business processes for version 4.7.  I am not sure if we have a configuration issue that is limiting our visibility of the business scenarios or if they just don't exist.  Can anyone tell me if business scenarios exist for SAP ERP 4.7?

    Hi Paul,
See if you can download it from the service marketplace. You can view note #891616 for more information on how to download these BPR. Following notes may help too.

  • SOLAR01 - BPR content for Oil and Gas - JVA processes

    Hello
We are dealing with the creation of the structure (scenario, processes and steps) for a Oil and Gas project trying to use BPR.  In order to locate the right process we are dealing with Solution Composer, with configuration variants from the Oil and Gas Soluton Map.  We are not able to find any of those processes in the BPR.  We look any process with joint or venture words in it but there is none.  We have Solman 7.01, stack 25 and ST-ICO 150 level 27 (the latest available)
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Vinay,
This entirely a business and consulting decision. In general its good to have different templates for bulk fuels, Crudes, Packed lubes/Gas, and aviation. This still depends on the volume of business in a particular line.

  • Advantages of using BPR in an SAP project

    Hi
Could anyone tell me what are the advantages and significance of using the Business Process Respository (BPR) while starting an implementation Project (or template project). Lets say as opposed to NOT using the BPR. What are the pros and cons of the two approaches? And how reliable are these BPR contents?
    Appreciate your answers
    Drake

    Hi Drake,
BPR comes from SAP and delivered via Software Component ST-ICO. Periodically, SAP keeps upgrading this component and in my view, one of the best enablers of Solution Manager.
From a Project point of view, if you use BPR provided content, at Scenario, Process level, it inherits all 'associated' assignments, like Transaction Codes, IMG nodes relevant for a given Process Step. Also, it loads any other accelerator documents from SAP in General Documentation Tab.
These contents are helpful for Business Process Monitoring (BPM) too when you want to 'inherit' the Processes and Process Steps defined in Project into Solution. There are standard metrics that SAP provides for process steps in BPM that would be more easily compatible if a project had got the same terminology.
BPR, however, isn't as comprehensive as we may like it to be. It's rich on some areas and frugal on certain others.
In terms of 'reliability', well there is no specific aspersions that could be cast  on it
If it's rich, it's visible and useful; where it's not good enough, we can always add some content and still make some good use of it.
Another advantage of using BPR is that when a new version of BPR is downloaded and applied, using SA_PROJECT_UPGRADE transaction, the system will offer a chance to see areas which are impacted by a change and those can accepted in SOLAR01/02.
So, BPR-led content can always be kept up-to-date.
In my personal experience, I have realised that 2 consultants can easily have 4 opinions! On ever fluid concepts like Scenario, Processes etc. to attain a convergence of thoughts and minds is a difficult proposition. BPR allows for a project to close the gap and adopt SAP ways of definition and helps jump-start the project. The time saved is better used in value added areas or in rigorous testing and training !
The only firms/ projects which may want to shy from BPR could  be those:
    - who have a fairly well established vocabulory of defining their day to day processes and where retrofitting SAP definitions can be counter productive
    - who have traditionally used advanced platforms like ARIS or other tools
    - who work in industries inadequately represented by SAP
    Best regards,

The BPR-content is stored within software component ST-ICO,
if you run Function module SOLAR_BPR_F4 in test mode with

  • Relation between template, roadmap and BPR

    Hi
A very rudimentary question: what is the relation between the template selection and roadmap in the SOLAR_Project_admin and BPR selection in SOLAR01? is there any dependencies between these three?
why do we actually need template and roadmaps?
and does these have any dependency on the system landscape?
    Thanks
    Drake

    Hi Drake,
what is the relation between the template selection and roadmap in the SOLAR_Project_admin and BPR selection in SOLAR01?
Template Selection is provided so that you can choose specific Scenarios from any Template that's created and made Public in your SolMan instance. Of course, this is a deeper topic to explain in just one post. Suffice to say here that if your project does not use a 'Global Rollout' kind Template Project, based on which Implementation Projects (Rollouts) have to choose necessary content, you don't have to worry about this Tab.
Another reason why you may ever want to get into this Tab is when you want to 'install' some Best Practice content from SAP, and pick some 'Scenarios' from them. Example - BP_UTUS147 - Best Practices for Water Utility may offer 7 Scenarios to choose from. Well, this is something that's available only if the BP content is installed first.
Summary: You can ignore this tab if none of the above applies to you.
is there any dependencies between these three?
Template is not related with BPR.
BPR comes from the Software Component ST-ICO and whenever that Release/Package level goes up, you'll see enhanced content.
Again, Roadmap is not related with either Template or BPR
why do we actually need template and roadmaps?
Templates - I have explained above
Roadmaps - Though it's usage is optional, you can use it if there is not other specific Project methodology for you to follow. It comes with lots of 'accelerators' for running the project.
and does these have any dependency on the system landscape?
Project System Landscape is what you define as applicable to your specific project in question.
Roadmap & Template Tab do not have any impact on it nor are they impacted directly.
Yes, BPR is impacted by the fact that, if there are processes that happens in a set of Logical Components, and if you didnt have any one of them in your Sys Landscape, it will offer you the choice to 'retrospectively' push them into your Project Sys Landscape from SOLAR01.
Summary: Sys Landscape is what you choose from, reflecting the Logical Components that are actually used. If at any time you have to add one or more later,  you can do so. No impact on Roadmap/ Template.

  • How to Add the business scenario for BPC by Using BPR

    Hi All,
We want to Use Solution Manager BPR for Mapping of Business Processes for BPC and for this we checked and tried the same consisting of Solution Manager 7.0, "SAP Business Objects Business Planning and Consolidation" but it shows an  product version as for "SAP BPC 7.0 FOR MICROSOFT, " Only
But in Solution Manager 7.1 System it is showing for both ""SAP BPC 7.0 FOR MICROSOFT,SAP BPC 7.0 FOR SAP NET WEAVER".
Need to understand why it is not showing Netweaver in Solman 7.0 System and also for mapping this BPC in to Solution manager what are to be taken in to considerations.
Please suggest on this, your help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hello Hazira,
do you have the same supportpackage level of component ST-ICO in both systems?
The BPR content is always delivered with the ST-ICO component.

  • Solution Manager BPR issues

    Goodday,
Since there is no specific Solution Manager forums yet i will post my question here:
We are working with Solution Manager 3.2 to support an implementation of MySAPERP 2004. Within the SM there is the functionality to use the Business Process Repository to create your business process and automatically get the IMG objects (configuration tab)and transactions when selecting a process.
Currently our BPR content is ICO 150 so the newest one currently available. But when we start the BPR we see processes for SRM,CRM,R/3 4.6c,R/3 4.7 and more. We see very little specifically for ECC 5.0
I was told that the current 150 content does not contain all processes for ECC 5.0 yet. I would like to get a confirmation of this and would like to know if the 160 content (release march i believe) will have all the content.
Secondly i am wondering if there is a way to limit what people see in the BPR. Our config team is very confused on which process to select since every process exists multiple times.
Thirdly i would like to know when there is no ECC 5.0 process available should you then just use the available 4.7 or 4.6 process.
Thank you very much for your help

    Hello,
as this is an 'old' topic (from January), I am kindly asking you to tell me how did you solve the problem?
I am interested in BPR content as part of Solution Manager. We also see processes for SRM,CRM,R/3 4.6c,R/3 4.7 and more. We see very little specifically for ECC 5.0
I also would like to know if ICO 150 or 160 packages have the content or is there another way you solved the problem.
    Thank you and best regards,

  • Actualizing BPR for ECC 6.0

    Hello!
We are using SolMan 4.0 SP-12 for our ECC 6.0 implementation. Since most of the BPR content pertains to 4.6C - how do we actualize the BPR to make it current for ECC 6.0 ?

    hi Mani,
have you downloaded the lastest support pack for the ST-ICO component? That's how you get the lastest BPR content.
Support Packages and Patches" -> SAP Technology Components" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER" -> SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 4.0"-> Entry by Component" SAP Solution Manager -> ST-ICO 150_700

  • Solution Manager BPR and ESR

I believe that SM documents business processes in the Business Process Repository while there is also the Enterprise Services Repository. Is there a link between the two? For using CE to orchestrate new business processes, I suspect it needs the business processes documented too. Does the BP's need to be documented in two places or is there a single repository shared? Leads to any info or documentation will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Finding process steps from BPR - some process steps missing SAP tcodes

In Solution Manager 4.0, we are currently focusing on the documentation part and our teams have defined their respective hierarchies, scenarios, processes, and process steps.
When looking at our process steps, we are trying to download it from the BPR but it seems such an uphill battle to find the right process step in there and if you think you have it there are no transactions behind it.
    My questions are:
    1. Is there any way I can find a process in the BPR by transaction code so it will show processes by transaction code?
    2. Any tips of finding the right process in the BPR?
    3. If we are to manually add the process steps and the transactions by process step, what do we lose? In the structure tab of the business process, the source and original name will not be populated but looking at the transaction tab of the process step, after manually added, it looks fine. Will this at all influence getting the customization (configuration) items in SolMan?

    Dear all,
The best way to find the process step in sol Man BPR is:
    Let us consider one scenario:
You want to find business process step "Run MRP" from BPR. If you want to execute this process step, the relevant t.code is MD01. ( Let us assume You know this t.code already by memory).
Now enter this t.code in Sol Man, at business process step level. If you enter this t.code, automatically, the system will give you the "Description of the t.code (as a text)".  This text is automatically fetched from BPR content. Copy this text & search in BPR.
Now , the system will properly highlight the t.code (MD01) from BPR. Now select the process from BPR.

  • How to downloadin Business Process Repository in Solution Manager?

    Hello,
Does anybody know how to download whole Business Process Repository from solution manager?
I know how to download BPR, that are related to project, to excel file, but I want to download all the scenarios, processes are inbuilt to the Solution Manager business blueprint.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks,
    Mahantesh

    Hello Mahantesh,
I suppose that your idea behind this question is that you would like to browse the contents of the BPR. For this specific pupose, SAP will deliver a new web dynpro application with SAP Solution Manager 4.0 SP 12 and the respective stack coming out mid June 2007 which allows you to browse all BPR contents in your SAP Solution Manager system. So you no longer have to create a seperate project and select the contents via F4 value help in SOLAR01 in order to access the contents.
For further updates, please check the news mid June:
    <a href="http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager">http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager</a>
Media Library -> Technical Papers. It will probably be called: "4.0 Support Package Stack <latest stack> [probably stack 12]"
However, please note that an individual download of the entire or partial BPR structures into MS Excel will not be possible.
    Best regards,
    Doreen Baseler

  • Business Process Repository is sometimes confusing on transaction tab

I am Using SOLAR01. While creating scenarios and especially business processes by using BPR content, sometimes no transactions are listed in transactions TAB for a business process, but transactions are listed in business process steps. And in contrast sometimes the transactions are listed on Business process level and missing in Business process steps. This is confusing.
We are using SOLMAN 4.0 with ST-ICO-150 content.
An ECC6 system is assigned to project.
    For example:
I choose as scenario 'Procurement and Logistics execution process for ERP' from standard BPR content.
System provides me a huge list of Business Processes.
I activate Business process 'Outbound process with WM' and goto Transactions tab. I see no transactions. But Process steps are included like 'Create Delivery' and on steps level there are transactions listed.
Same thing with most of the business processes in this standard BPR derived scenario.
Another example in contrast (for same BPR derived scenario):
I activate Business process 'Purchase Requisition with Service Directories' and goto Transactions tab. I see MANY transactions. Process steps are included like 'Release purchase requisition' and on steps level there are NO transactions listed.
In fact, the cases when transactions are available on Business process level have 'Execute' icon before the BP name in the structure tree on left-hand side area.
Can somebody explain me, why transactions from BPR content are assigned sometimes on BP level and sometimes on BP step level. In my opinion they should be on both levels. BP level should contain all transactions and BP step level only those transaction relevant for that step.
    BR: Kimmo

    Kimmo,
We are using the BPR content to develop process flows using ARIS for NetWeaver.  Our experience is very similar to yours, to the extent that we hired an SAP consultant to help us map transactions back down to the process steps.
In the end, the value of the BPR is diminished if the transactions are not properly mapped to the process steps.  We have found very few SAP experts who are even aware of the BPR (this includes actual SAP staff), but all are familiar with the transactions required to run the software.  For an architect looking to have business processes designed with referenced objects the BPR is invaluable.  How I long for the days of the ASAP R/3 reference model!

  • Solution Manager 3.2 and BW 3.5

We are trying to figure out if it is possible to connect Sol Man 3.2 to BW. Our current thinking is that this is not possible as the config within BW is significantly different from R/3 and ECC. Furthermore the development tab in SOLAR02 only seems to contain standard dev objects.
I was hoping someone who has had experience in this area could confirm or deny this.
    Thank you
    Erik van Berkel

So far we have only found information about the 1.50 BPR content containing some BW information. But that for the rest the functionality is not supported.
We'll live with this assumption for now. If anyone has more information please reply.
