BPS- Creating Planning Functions Message

Hi Experts,
I am trying create a bps scenary. I did the planning area, planning level and packages but when I try create the planning functions the next message I received:
"Select a node in the related tree"
What node? Isn`t the package level the node for associate the functions? I tried in all level from planning area and the message continue and has´nt any description.

You are trying to create planning function from menu Planning --> Planning Function --> Create
If you want to do that way then double click on your planning level in top left pane and when teh same level appears in bottom left pane, double click on it again and then go to menu Planning --> Planning Function --> Create

Can not create planning function types (for process empty records)

Hi! SAP Experts,
I want to copy 0RSPL_FORMULA to another function types for processing empty records, ZRSPL_FORMULA. I checked this function type via RSPLAN, there is no error!. But when i try to use it in planning modeler. We found the error message "Infoobject 1FORMULA is does not available in version A". Do we need to create this infoobject?... Anyone know, please let me know.

Thanks for your help but I've already put that parameter,HIDDENFORMULAVARTAB->1FORMULA, in my planning function, ZRSPL_FORMULA. I validated it and no error found. But when I go to planning modeler, in web browser, and try to create a new planning function based on ZRSPL_FORMULA. I found the problem as I mention in previous message, "infoobject 1FORMULA is not available in version A". I try to search this infoobject in my system. The result is there is no this infoobject in my system. So, my question is do i need to create it with myself? What kind of infoobject i have to create? Key Figures or Characteristics?
Anyway, If I have to do this, why 0RSPL_FORMULA still used as normal.

Delete planning functions messages

Hi Experts.
I have an application on WAD. When I execute a planning function on it, I get the result messages wich I don't want to be seen on the web application. I have read a thread on this forum
but I'm not sure if this can be applied on planning functions and how should I modify the method to filter the messages...¿can anyone help me please? thanks in advance

BPS - Executing planning function with SAVE

We are trying to use BPS for a slightly different purpose. We need a front-end to enter sonme data into a transaction cube. The issiue we are facing is we wish to execute a plnning function just before SAVING without having the user press any other button. Could anybody tell me if that is possible & how it can be achieved.

I have to apply this functionality to save my Web Planning Folder after the execution of a function which is a fox formula.
I call the function UPC_FUNCEXEC_SAVE at the end of my Fox Formula as explain above but the save is not complete... Or I have wrong ?

Do you know whether there is program that's enable to input data within BPS and planning function ???

We have manual layouts to input data in bps. planning functions are used to modify or calculate results from the entered or already available data in the cube.

Create ne Planning function in planning folder

Hi Experts,
I have one planning function A in X folder and my requirement is i need to create same planning function like A in planning floder Y. Please give me steps for creating planning function in planning folder.
I know how to create a planning function in planning level but i don't know how to create to a planning function in planning folder.

Thanks for your reply. Yes ur r correct, we cdon't create planning function in the planning folder insted o this we can drag the created planning function into planning folder.
How to drag this from left side to right side and place into global planning function area.
I am missing some thing. I couldn't slect the planning package and parameter group.
Can u let me know how to do this one.

BPS - possibility of Manual Planning Functions

Hi guys,
I need some technical advice. Please advice if this task can be "EASILY" accomplished via BPS Manual Planning Function ?
My client need to input certain data into BW and generate a report displaying all the below mentioned data into a simple BW query.
Type of data that need to be inputted manually (key-in) :-
Market Velocity
AVG Daily Trading Value
Mkt CAP of New Listing
No. of new Listing
No. of Derivative Instructions
Please assist soonest possible

Should work. If you have an InfoCube (type transactional) with the chars & keyfigs, you could do a manual planning. However, for demo purposes, you could also use transaction RSINPUT for this cube. If you have defined your correct InfoObjects, you have these several options.
If you want to report on this transactional InfoCube, make sure you include the variable for "most current data" in your BEx report.

I have created FM and Program for scdualing Back ground Job for Planning function.
I have created Planning function with exit option and passed parameter Global seqence name.
Error is lot of Jobs are creating while exe in BPS0

Hi Rama,
It seems there are two diff. functional modules (UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE AND UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE_STEP). The second one divides the planning sequesces on the basis of something you specify (e.g. company code). Just make sure that you are using correct FM.

Awful performance when using planning function of type EXIT

Hi.
I created planning function base on my own class with interface IF_RSPLFA_SRVTYPE_IMP_EXEC_REF.
In this class I read active buffer and do some validations.If validation not successful I give error message, otherwise I do nothing.
After my method ends to run (very fast and without any problem and only on active filter rstricted values) it seem that application goes forward, come to method EXECUTE_SERVICE in CL_RSPLFR_CONTROLLER==========CM002 (see code below) and at line 387 when calling read_data_from_buffer it hangs for 10 minutes.
I seems that system try to read all data in cube (not only restricted with active filter) and hangs. This method returns me all records of cube into L_R_REF_DATA.

Execution of a planning function for a row selection of a hierarchy node

Hi all!
Has anyone accomplished to make a configuration, where a planning function would have been executed for a hierarchy node selection and this selection would have been made by a row selection in an analysis item? I can filter the characteristic in a lowest level by selecting rows in analysis item, but if I would select a hierarchy node, the value for the characteristic is empty. I have set the selection state by binding the item_characteristic of analysis item to filter of the other characteristics.
I tried first to reach this functionality by filtering the characteristic with variables in planning modeller filter and determining the values of the variables during runtime by the selection of the analysis item row selection. But I can not implement it as the display hierachy and the hierarchy node selection in the analysis item are variables and modeller does not allow selection of a hierarchy node and hierarchy by variables - even thoug it let's you do it (I receive error message saying "field hienmflag with value 5 is not correct").
Greatful for any working solutions tips you have made up!

Thanks for the explanation. I come from BPS background and there are few changes when it comes to planning functions in IP. In BPS, the planning function is a bit loosely tied to Planning Package in a sense that a planning function can use any planning package under the planning level to which it belongs. Same is the case in IP (technically), but in BPS the planning package contains all the characteristics and key figures of the planning level and hence the function can execute correctly. What I see in IP is that planning function is very loosely tied to Filter. It can use any filter under the aggregation level even though they differ in the characteristics and key figures. I have tried a PF with different filters and it executes with everyone of them! This doesnu2019t sound right! Am I missing something here?
Also, you can only execute a IP planning function if it is included in a planning sequence. An extra step! The modeling is so intuitive in BPS that IP is a bit repulsive.

How to pass multiple single values to parameter in planning function?

I can not pass the variables (multiple single Values) from Input Layouts(BexAnalyzer) to Planning Function Types...Anyone have any idea for setting the parameter in the function types. I use the exit class CL_RSPLFC_BPS_EXITS.
My Parameter Type is Elementary and also use variables allowed

If you want to use the class as in a planning function type, proceed as follows:
1. Create an InfoObject that accepts the name of the function module as a characteristic value. We recommend that you create an InfoObject of type character with length 30 and indicate that this InfoObject is "Without Master Data".
2. In transaction RSPLF1, create a new function type. Chose the "Reference Data" option and enter the name of the class. This does NOT imply that reference data is read automatically, but results from the requirements for implementing the class.
3. On the "Parameter" tab page, create two parameters - one for the exit module and one for the init module. The parameters should be "elementary". Chose the InfoObject you created in step two as the dedicated InfoObject. The names of the parameters are determined from the values of constant P_C_NAME_EXIT_PARAM and P_C_NAME_INIT_PARAM.
4. If you require additional parameters in your function module (called exit parameters), you create these parameters as elementary parameters (with appropriate InfoObjects). Note an additional predefined parameter here - in many function modules, the name of the area is used from which the module is called. The area is not used in BI Integrated Planning but it may be the case that an area was created in BPS which only uses the current InfoCube. For this reason, you can create a parameter with the name specified in constant P_C_NAME_AREA_PARAM by specifying the name of this area to the function module. The value of this parameter is passed on to the function module in the interface as the value of the importing parameter I_AREA. Note that this technology can generally only by used for Basis InfoCubes and simple planning areas (not multi- planning areas or MultiProviders).
You can create additional elementary parameters as long as the names do not correspond to the predefined names. The class automatically recognizes the additional parameters and transfers them to table IT_EXITP in the function modules.
5. After you have activated the planning function type, you can create planning functions and fill the parameters accordingly.

How to pass multiple values from workbook to planning function ?

I have created Planning function in Modeler and it has one parameter(Variable represents = Multiple single values).
When executing the planning function by create planning seq. in the web template : I see value of variable store data like ...
A.) input one value -> V1
B.) input three values -> V1;V2;V3
This function execute completely in web.
However, I want to use the planning function in workbook(Excel).
The value of variable can't input V1;V2;V3... I don't know how to pass multiple values from workbook to parameter(Multiple single values type) in planning function ?

Filter is indeed used in IP similar to how planning package was used in BPS. There really is no difference 'conceptually'.
What you have seen is the different options IP offers compared to BPS regarding planning function execution. You can execute planning function directly or using a planning sequence in an application (although in planning modeler, its only a planning sequence that can be executed, for eg., for testing purpose).
If you just execute a planning function without specifying any restriction, it will operate on the entire set of planning data. Whether its a planning sequence or planning function, the data it operates on can be restricted by binding the various characteristics (or variables) using various DPs in the application. What kind of dynamic selection are you looking at?

Assignment of filter to planning function in integrated planning

Dear experts
I am a bit new in Integrated planning and have a following conceptual question regarding filter object in IP
In IP it seems that filter is a substitute object for planning package in BSP.
I however do not see any possibility to assign filter to a planning function except in a planning sequence. I would however imagine to have a functionality to dynamically select the filter when i want to execute a planning function via application (excel based or Web).
It seems that filter is not even required if a planning function is executed seperately (not as part of planning sequence).
I have tried to execute a simple copy function without having any filter at all and it works.
Could someone pls. explain me as to the conceptual difference between object filter and object planning package.
