BPS delivered Content

Hi Gurus
Anybody know where to install the BPS delivered Planning Area/Planning Level/....? I have ever seen in an ides system, with which all the prefix of planning objects is starting with "4", however I cannot find where to install those delivered content after I installed the NW04(BW350),since I don't want to import ides.

You need to
1) collect the transport from client 000 user DDIC using transaction UPB_APPL_IMPORT.
2) Then you need to log into the working client and do a client copy via transaction SCC1 of the transports collected from client 000 in step 1
3) load the delivered master data
There is a pretty good whitepaper on service.sap.com for installing business content.

XI is well suited for connecting SAP systems with each other and with non-SAP. SAP XI provides an integrated workflow engine that allows defining adapters to non-XML protocols and mappings to convert data content from source to target format.

How to find BW-BPS Business Content / SEM-BPS Business Content

Hi All
We have BW 3.5 and SEM 4.0 in our system. I am trying to find some Business Content for BPS. It seems that there is no Business content for BW-BPS. I know there is Business Content for SEM-BPS. My question is how do I get to the SEM-BPS Business Content. Is there any T-code or something to go and find the Business Content. I am trying to find a Planning area for Cost Center.
Please provide me with some details. I would appreciate any help ASAP.

Hi Nag,
The process is different to the normal BW process, instead of installing it directly on your client, you have to select the process in client 000 and then import in your working client.
The process is as follows:
1) log on to client 000 of your BW system
2) goto transaction UPB_APPL_IMPORT (in client 000 of course) and click the planning function you want to install the busines content of
3) run transaction UPB_APPL_IMPORT; this will generate a transport request
4) release this transport in client 000
5) import in the working client
Most of the planning areas are defined as remote planning areas, you will receive an error if you try to access them.
Switch to local planning areas in the planning area.
You also have to install the BW transactional cubes, this can be done using the normal BW business content transactions.

Installation of BI-BPS Business Content

Hi All,
      I have installed business content for BPS Business Content Cubes :
      Average Prices for Sales and Profit Planning : 0SEM_C10
   while installing the content i have made sure that "before and after data flow" option was used.
     Installation went successfully but when i navigate to Planning Workbench BPS0 I am unable to see the corresponding Planning Areas.
    Please tell how i can get the Planning areas for this content.

Hello Sunil,
BPS content is not installed when aktivating BW content, because it is a different method to be used.
I remember, that you have to go to the 000 client in your system and perform a special transaction.

Pre Delivered content or rather industry content is a factor that is one of the advantages of XI. In this case, for example industry standards providers like Rosettanet, Seeburger and even in case of SAP's SRM etc comes with content for XI. usually they are preconfigured interfaces, message types, mappings , integration scenarios etc for XI.

Best Practice for Delivering Content

We have a scenario where we need to read/write a EDI kind of file, separated file. But the solution should be a deployable one and we are planning to provide IR Content alone and use Integration Scenarios for ID.
We have two options:
1. Use file Content Conversion (EDI structure is very simple) and provide Communication Channel Templates with Content Conversion Parameters for Integration Scenario.
2. Use java Map to read/write EDI (Communication Channels would be simple in this case ).
What are the pros and cos of the two approaches?

Pros and Cons:

Ans: - Communication channel configuration is dificult as you have to introduce content conversion in it. If you miss any parameter in that part or provide wrong value. It will cause error.
- Mapping will bw very easy may be one to one or upon requirement. can use graphical mapping.
2. Use java Map to read/write EDI (Communication Channels would be simple in this case ).
Ans: - You will resolve all conversion relation (like in which format data is expected at receiver) issues in java mapping by programing. so mapping is going to be atough task.
- no content conversion required at CC level so its easy to configured.
Best practice depends accordingly:
if you are a java expert (in java mapping) go for 2nd one other wise its always default to use content conversion.

Deliver content based on bandwidth

Hi experts,
I have read the part on Delivering video based on bandwidth
in Developing Media Application Flash Media server documentation. I
try to apply the thing it suggested, i added the following to
vhosts.xml:

virtualkey to my client. Below is part of my main.asc, To make
thing simple, i remove the bandwidth detection procedure and simply
try to force virtualkey to "fast", but still does not work.

I have a doubt regarding the pre-defined contents in IR.
SAP has given us some data types, message types and interfaces in IR.
How can we use them? For example the predefined inbound has a proxy defined in appln. server. I need to use that proxy. Is it possible?

You mean the SAP BASIS component ? Yes, you can create Proxies for them The how to guide for Java Proxies actually uses this SAP BASIS Flight Booking as an example to show how proxies can be used in XI.

Is there any Helps docs available any where abt the functionality of Content Variables delvered by SAP (using SMOD)
I am looking for a variable which selects Based on Fiscal Period/Year...that selects Last 12 Closed Period.
Lets assume current period is 03.2009 ,Then i need a user exit/sap exit that dynamically populates
As current period is still open
03.2008 - 02.2009
Please update is there any Content variable for this purpose or what is the logic i should use for User exit

BPS Business Content for Cost Centre GL planning

Hi All
Would anyone be able to tell me where I can find the Business Content to activate for the areas of:
Cost Centre GL planning
Annual budgeting
Forecasting
Balance Sheet budgeting
What bits will I need to activate or can anyone point me in the direction of some doco for this?

Hi Pete,
All objects starting with 4 are Business content objects. For activating these objects you need to follow these steps:
1.Create customizing transport request in cliet 000
2.Collect required Planning Objects in this transport request: Planning Areas, Global Planning sequences, Planning Profiles
3.Log on to Working Client
4.Choose Transaction SCC1
5.Enter Source Client 000
6.Enter Transport Request Number of Client 000
7.Mark "Incl. Tasks for request
8.Choose "Start immediateley"
