BPS - Exchange 2007 - Address book hangs - Net.riv.vm.StackOverflowError

Hello.  I have recently installed BPS on our Exchange server.  One of our users has an 8830 world edition that now hangs when he tries to access the address book on the device.  The address book was fine when he would sync via desktop.  The hanging address book also prevents caller ID info from displaying when a call comes in...it only shows the phone #.  When the address book is opened the device freezes and the only way to get functional again is to pull the battery.  When the device restarts he receives this message:
Uncaught exception:
Net.riv.vm.StackOverflowError
Any information on this is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

  • Viewing exchange global address book

Tried everything I can think of but I can't find a way to make all the contacts in the exchange global address book show up in contacts.
All I've been able to do is search the address book. But I'm wanting all the contacts to show at the one time and then select from that list.
Tried turning on contacts in the account setup in settings but that only seems to setup extra searches in contacts.
All I'm trying to do is have my normal contacts list from those on the iPad and another list for the exchange global address book.
Surely something so basic must be possible.

  • Address book hangs whenever I click on preference

address book hangs whenever I click on preference

    The AddressBook preference file is:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
The AddressBook data is in the folder:
    ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
    ( ~ = your home folder)
Try first moving the preference file to the Desktop (while AddressBook is not running) and then start AddressBook and see if that helps.
If all else fails, you could move the data out of the folder mentioned above and thus start AddressBook fresh.

  • Querying exchange server address book

    Hello guys
How can I retrieve information in microsoft exchange server address book using jdbc?
    Thanks for any help.

IMO, I'd use Address Book. I tried Entourage for a while, but prefer the separate mail, iCal, and Address Book apps.
And I've had few problems keeping my work and home macs, as well as my Nokia, sync'd in the two years I've been a subscriber.

  • Exchange and address book

Installed Snow Leopard and my mail is working great. I can download my personal emails and now, my work emails from within the mail program.
When I make changes to my address book, ie, names, phone numbers, or even deleting cards, the changes show up in Exchange when I log on via mail.companyname.org (from Safari or any other browser).
So my company has a couple of routing lists on Exchange, like @allemployees and @inoffice. I've never been able to use these lists on my mac. Apparently all the other people in my office (pc folks, I am a graphic designer and use a mac) can use these lists via MS Outlook.
I was hoping that now that I can actually use Exchange through Mail, and have been able to sync Address Book too, that I would be able to use these routing lists as well.
Can anyone tell me how to go about this?

I don't know very much about this, but one thing I have figured out is that the Exchange Server needs to be an up-date 2007 version (my company has 2007, but doesn't want to run the service pack). If you want to check your version of exchange, you can use WebAccess, hit the "Options" button, then look at "About". This shows the Exchange Server Version -- which you can Google to see if it's new enough. Don't really know if this is helpful, but maybe if gives you something else to check while you wait for a more knowledgeable response. Also, Mactopia website could be helpful potentially.

  • Exchange 2007 Address List Re-Named - Outlook 2007 Clients Show Old Name

I have renamed an Address List in Exchange 2007
Applied the Address List to make sure,
Manually updated the Offline Address Book
Re-Started Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service
Manually downloaded the OAB in Outlook 2007 Client
but the renamed Address list still shows as the old name In Outlook.
The clients are not running in cached mode and the change was made several days ago.
I have searched everywhere and I'm not the first person to have this problem but I can't seem to find an answer to this issue.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Lee

    Hi Lee,
Does the issue also happen in OWA?
If it is, please run Get-AddressList cmdlet to check whether the address list name (display name) is changed in your Exchange 2007. After re-naming the address list, we also need to run the following command to apply the changes:
    Update-AddressList -Identity "Renamed Address List"
Then check whether the renamed address list is changed in OWA or not. If it is updated successful in OWA, restart Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service to update the Offline Address Book and manually download OAB in Outlook client.
    Thanks,

  • Exchange 2010 address book issue.

We're using Exchange 2010 in our organization. My old database got corrupted so i created new mailbox and add existing users to it. Now the issue is, before users type other usernames in outlooks address bar and mail gets delivered to the recipients, now
they have to select users from "To" list in outlook and have to add them to the address bar, if they type the recipient name rather selecting from the list then the mail don't get delivered. What is the issue? Any idea why this happening?

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the problem of address book  in Exchange 2010, please follow these steps: -
Enable web-based distribution for the OAB to your client access servers
    – If you are upgrading from Exchange 2003 to 2010, this step is a must.
Change the mailbox server that’s responsible for generating your OAB to an Exchange 2010 mailbox server –
This is important whether you are migrating to Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Address Book Hanging When Choosing Custom Image

Address Book app in Tiger (10.4.6) hangs whenever any attempts to change the default image of the contact is done. The console displays the following message (multiple lines with same message):
    CDeviceList::CDeviceList: Found 0 devices.
It seems that it only stops when it finally turns on the isight camera. It takes a relatively long time to do that. After the camera is found, any interaction with the Address Book interface will trigger the hang and the message in the console.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

    - quit the Address Book application.
    - in Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences and double click
on com.apple.AddressBook.plist ( or just type
    "open ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
    in a Terminal window
    - in the property list editor, delete the value for
"ABImagePath" , which is under "0" in "ABCustomEnvelopeDefinitions"
    - save the file
    - quit the Property List Editor
    - start Address Book

  • Outlook 2013 Exchange 2013 Address Book Error 0x8004010F : The operation failed. An object cannot be found.

    Hi,
We have Exchange 2013 running in our network, and are using Outlook 2013 on all PCs. We added some users several weeks ago, and they are not showing up in the Address Book. When we try to download the Address Book in Outlook, we receive the error 0x8004010F
: The operation failed. An object cannot be found.
Please let me know how I can start to troubleshoot this.
    Regards,
    Chris

    Hi
There is a multiple reason to receive an error 0x8004010f, it is just a generic MAPI error.
Let’s check all settings are configured the way it is supposed to be: -
    1.    Make sure the authentication setting is set up properly by using this command: -
Get-OabVirtualDirectory -ADPropertiesOnly | ft Identity, *Auth* -AutoSize
    2.    Check URL’S are configured properly: -
Get-OabVirtualDirectory -ADPropertiesOnly | ft Identity, *url* -AutoSize
    3.    Check the location of OAB: -
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\OAB
    4.    Now find out the location of the database on which the Arbitration mailbox resides: -
    Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | where {$_.PersistedCapabilities -like “*OAB*”} | ft Name, Servername, Database
    Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus MGUxxx
    5.    It is also important to ensure all database has the OAB set up properly for this use CMDLET: -
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Ft Name, *book*
    6.    If one or more database does not have OAB setup, then use CMDLET to set OAB for it: -
Get-Mailboxdatabase | Set-MailboxDatabase -OfflineAddressBook “Default Offline Address Book”
    7.    If the issue is affecting only one or specific set of users, then check they have an OAB specified on their account: -
    Get-Mailbox abc.xyz | fl Name, OfflineAddressBook,Database
Please correct me if the information that I am having is wrong.
    Reply awaited.

  • Blackberry 8820 Pearl Address Book Hangs

Hi I have a blackberry 8820 pearl, randomly the blackberry hangs when entering the address book. The symtom is when you press the address book icon the blackberry display appears to hang. However if you press the backup button/arrow all is OK again, all other functions are OK, but the address book can't be accessed.
Removing the battery and replacing it seems to be the only way to gain access to the address book again.
This seems to happen about once a fortnight and I can't put my finger on what triggers it.
    Any help appriciated!

Odd. I would make sure you do a regular backup of your BB.
Do you have content protetion on the address book?
Look at Options > Security > General Settings > scroll down to Content Protection, is "Include Contacts" enabled?

  • Address Book hangs Up when Smart Group defined as Union of Groups

I have rendered the Address Book Application on my macBook Pro running OS X 10.7.2 useless.
For the first time, I set up a smart group. I defined the smart group to be the union of a whole series of not-smart groups. That is to say membership in the smart group was defined to be any contact which was contained in a list of probably about 10 groups. No group would have had more than 30 contacts.
From the moment I tried to look at membership in my smart group, the Address Book Application has been hung. It spins its wheels and goes nowhere, and shows nothing. In the Force Quit window the application is described as being unresponsive. After I carry out a force quit, I start it up again and it hangs immediately. I have to force quit again.
Any ideas as to how I can retrieve functionality out of this this situation?

I found a solution for my problem.
I went into system preferences for iCloud, and removed the tick box for Address book. A dialog then advised me that if I really wanted to do this, that all my contacts would be removed from my macBook, but would remain in iCloud. I gave my agreement to that. As a result all my contacts were removed from my macBook and all my ordinary groups. The smart group, whose definition was the thing that had intitated my problem remained. When I started the Address Book application, it no longer immediately hanged. I clicked on the remaining smart group and used one of the drop down menus to delete this smart group. I then went back into system preferences for iCloud and ticked the box for address book. I then restarted address book, and all my old groups and contacts reappeared, except for the smart group I had explicitly deleted above. Now the application works as it did before I created the smart group. The only problem is that now apple needs to improve the logic that executes generating the membership of a smart group so it can handle a smart group that is the union of a bunch of other groups without hanging the application.

  • Address Book - Hangs on import

I try to import a 300 record CSV file. Address Book says "not a valid CSV or TXT file".
The formatting looks good, Excel likes it, and it does have CSV suffix.
So I try saving it as tab-delimited (.TXT) and AB will recognize it.
I go through the fieldd matching exercise.
If I click forward to see the "next record" and it hangs indefinitely with the spinning wheel. If I wait long enough it gives me the option to cancel.
Try again...if I just click ok, it does hangs doing nothing ("ok" not longer highlighted, no spinning wheel, no importing or CPU consumption). If I clock around different windows though it will eventually unstick with no progress.
On the last attempt to import the TXT file with no field mapping changes, the "ok" and "cancel" button actually disappeared from the window.
Any ideas? This is AB version 4.1.2.

I finally got the import to mostly work. I created new .txt files that contained no more than 60 contact records and the import worked well (although not perfectly). It seems that data fields that were not told to be omitted (especially street address fields- in my experience) were dropped by the import.

  • Address book hangs

Everytime I search a contact in address book, it gets stuck to one contact.  Then clicking on any other contact, does not display the contact info.  Also then I cannot search for any contact.  I tried to find a solution using google search and came across a solution in deleting the addressbook-v22.abcddb file from the library/application support/addressbook folder.  Tried it, and address book started working in terms of ability to look at contact details by highlighting it, however, as soon as I try to search a contact, the behaviour repeats itself.  I have also tried to repair permission and removing the address book from spotlight, but none of these work.  Any one has any suggestion?

I had the same problem, and followed the suggestion to delete the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook-v22.abcddb file. Still had the same problem.
Also tried to export all contacts as vcards, delete the existing contacts, and reimport. No help there. I am syncing with iCloud, and it's not easy to turn that off without creating other messes, so I left it on.
I finally deleted two other files: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist and one other in the same folder, (oh, no, I can't remember exactly the name) which was not recreated when I relaunched Address Book. The mystery file (/com.apple.AddressBook.abdb.plist, maybe??) might be the one that was breaking things, but I'm not sure.
Now my search works fine, and Address Book doesn't get stuck on one contact.
Try just deleting the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist file and relaunching Address Book. The other file I deleted might be residue from a migration.

  • Address Book hangs on open

I am running a MacBook on 10.5.5, updated the day it came out. It may be important to note that I tried the evaluation version of Contactizer Pro, but was not impressed and removed it.
    So my problem is this:
Whenever I open Address Book, it begins to open by showing the highlighted dot on the dock, but a windows never appears. Force quit displays that is is open but not responding. Occasionally, if I wait 20-30 minutes it will open and work normally. The last time it started working normally, I made a backup of all my contacts, so if any of the repair processes require I nuke the program and start over, fine!
Anyone know how to fix this? I wanted to try syncing my contacts with Gmail, but never even got started because of this mess. Thanks in advance!

It seems other people are also complaining about this problem. I have previously replied to another thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8144444#8144444
I also cannot open Address Book since installing 10.5.5 in both my computers, synced with MobileMe. I am not running any other program to manage my contacts.
It seems it is the interface that does not work, since changes do update if you click on something, quit Address Book and open the app once again.
    Console reports:
    <08/09/23 11:53:37 Address Book[3932] * -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: attempt to insert nil>.
    Anyone know what this means?
