BPS / IP / Outlook soft Roadmap

hello Every body,
Is someone knows the roadmap for all those products ??
End of BPS maintenance, Outlook soft availability in SAP , futur of IP in this contexte ??
no tool is available to migrate BPS custo into IP, I would like to be sure we are not wasting customer money on IP if everything has to move again to a new technology soon ( at least before BPS end of maintenance !)
many thanks
JL

Hi,
Jean-Louis, hope you're doing well!
Additionally to the blog mentioned by our friend Prakash, some elements to answer your question:
1. BI IP is the current offering in the Netweaver stack, development teams are working on it, there is no change for the development of this product.
2. There is clearly a value proposition around BI IP for customer requiring a strong BI Integration, highly centralized planning processes and multiple locations deployment.
3. The converged offering between BI IP and BPC will try to secure the investment in both technologies starting with the 8.0 release. More details to come on that topic.
The big deal around this discussion is to find out the best value proposition around SAP BPC and BI IP for each customer case. But there is space for both!
Hope this helps!
Cheers
JH

  • Power Sim  - Does it work with Integrated Planning (IP)

PowerSim currently promotes itself as being able to perform superior simulations on SEM-BPS. With BI7.0, we have the option of using Integrated Planning (IP) or BW-BPS. Following are my questions:
         1.  Does PowerSim work with IP?
         2.  Does PowerSim work with BW-BPS in addition to SEM-BPS?  Assuming  yes, what are the differences / challenges (if any) using BW-BPS in a BI7.0 as opposed to going against SEM-BPS?
         3.  Does BI7 have any "out of the box" advanced simulation capabilities that are "close" to what PowerSim provides.
         4.  Given SAP's recent strategic investments of Outlook Soft / Pilot / Acorn, the assumption is that these will integrate into the BI platform over the next year +.  Does anybody know if any of these tools provide similar simulation capabilities to PowerSim and/or what SAP's timing is to integrate / ramp-up?
    Thanks

    Hi Richard,
    1) Unlike in previous versions of SEM-BPS. there's no special support for PowerSim in BI-IP. Please check with PowerSim vendor what kind of standard SAP interfaces they support (to read from/write data to BI).
    2) Yes, when it comes to PowerSime BW-BPS is no different to SEM-BPS. You cna use BW-BPS just like SEM-BPS (some limitations are the financial planning functions). For more information please see the BI FAQ at http://service.sap.com/bifaq.
    3) No.
    4) No. PowerSim provides specialized capabilities which are not included in that form in the products listed by you. Please check with PowerSim what capabilities they provide in connection with SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0

  • With out EC-CS, can i do consolidation

    Hi Friends,
With out EC-CS, can i do consolidation ?
I heard it is possible with consolidation business area, but i havent worked on that.
    I need little clarity friends.
    Your early reply is appreciated.

    Dear Neela,
yes, with EC-CS you can do 1 company consolidation, 2 business area consolidation and 3 profit center consolidation.
There are competitive consolidation products inside SAP, for example FIN-SEM-BCS, the BPC (the ex Outlook Soft product) and the BIP or BFR (the ex Carthesis Magnitude).

  • When do we come across a situation where we have a soap sender

    hello experts,
i wud like to know when we'll do a scenario in which "SOAP" is the sender?

Outlook soft has been acquired by SAP and they are positioning this BP& C that is business planning and consolidation. I dont really understand the strategy behind such acquisition since SAP is also haeavily developing in SEM BCS as u see the evolution of this product from 3x ->4.0 -> 6.00.
With SEM BCS 6.00 SAP can proudly position this as real competitor for hyperion. Unfortunately for SAP, they deliver the product well ahead of the trained consultants are available for implementation with the result many customers blame the product rather than the implementation. I have seem many customers moving from hyperion to SEM BCS but sadly in one of the cases customer who migrated from hyperion to SEM BCS going back to hyperion due to poor implementation.

  • IP getting obsolete?

I heard rumor that SAP might End of Life the Integrated Planning application inview of the Outlooksoft and Business Object acquisition. On the contrary in the Teched'07 there was clear indication from SAP that IP to coexists with outlook soft etc and this would be made the primary planning engine even with Outlook soft application.
Any clarification on this would be welcome
    Thx

I think thats the best clarification you have got... SAP guys themselves telling during TechEd that IP will continue.
    Thanks for sharing this

You can purchase a step-up upgrade from Microsoft for $99 for one install or $299 for all three at:
    http:/http://www.microsoft.com/mac/upgrade-office-for-mac
This gets you an unlock key to open Outlook, which you will find is already in the Office folder, but locked.

  • How do I delete micro soft outlook on mac pro and my iphone

When I delete emails from my mac  book pro in microsoft outlook it does not delete the emails from my iphone 5.  in fact they all come back if I delete them from my iphone first.  What's the secret for them to sync and delete at the same time from either device?

It depends partly on how you have Outlook set up on your Mac, how you have mail set up on your iPhone, and also the specific mail system (server) you are using.
On your Mac, assuming you are using a POP mail service (like Hotmail), in Outlook > Accounts > (the specific mail account you are using), click Advanced.  Then under "Delete copies from the server" select "After deleting from this computer."   Note: this may or may not work if you are using an IMAP account; you would just have to try it.
Not completely sure about mail on your iPhone.  it seems to work differently with each mail system.
With Hotmail (or any Exchange based mail server) there doesn't appear to be any iOS mail setting that will force deletion of messages from the server when you delete them on your iPhone.
With Verizon POP mail, in contrast, there is an Advanced setting in iOS Mail (for the account) that allows you to set when to delete removed messages.  Some other mail systems may support this feature.
Regardless (at least in my experience) there does not appear to be any mail system that will do "all device" synchronization except for iCloud.   Maybe there are others, but I don't know what they may be.  If your mail service is POP mail, total mail sync including deletion probably can't be done across multiple devices.

  • Unable to sync TX calendar with Outlook 2003 (Windows XP)

Last week I noticed that random past diary entries were gradually disappearing from my TX with each Hotsync without me changing any settings or receiving any error message. They went 1st from Outlook on my PC but remained on my TX and then all non-recurring anniversaries pre-2008 disappeared from my handheld too.  Future events were fine though.
We contacted Palm Live Chat twice but got nowhere.  They couldn’t retrieve the lost data; tell me why it had happened or what to do to stop it happening again.  I was quite upset because I’d lost 5 years’ diary entries and then annoyed when I scrolled through the help forums and saw how many people were experiencing similar problems.
Luckily, I managed to find an old version of my calendar up to last summer in Palm Desktop on our laptop.  So we copied it over to the PC via a memory stick, changed the PIM conduit temporarily and synced the TX with Palm Desktop (version 4.2), making sure the HS icon was customised to synchronise the calendar files.  But what it did instead was overwrite the calendar on the TX with that from Palm Desktop, effectively wiping all calendar entries from last summer off the handheld – including all my future plans.
In an attempt to get these back, we changed the PIM conduit back to sync with Outlook and tried again.  Now everything has come to a total standstill.  Luckily, my calendar events from this year and the future are still in Outlook but it won’t now sync with my TX at all.  When I try to HS, the TX seems to do a soft set and reboot itself back to the factory date & time setting page.
     We have also tried:
    ·                      Disabling Windows Automatic Updates before performing a Hotsync
    ·                      Running the repair feature in Office 2003
    ·                      Running DBFixIt
None of that has thrown up any errors and I have got myself in an increasingly desperate tangle.  The latest HS log is below and it looks as if I’ve probably duplicated lots of files I shouldn’t have by desperately swapping between Outlook and Palm desktop (take a deep breath – it’s huge ….)  Can anyone please help me?  I’m so fed up about this.

Problems with a calendar sync in Outlook can generally be traced to a corrupt appointment at some time. It can happen from a shutdown in Outlook or any number of other reasons. If you can remember when the trouble began, see if you can locate an appointment on that day. You can also try and reset the sync history in iTunes, and can also run scanpst.exe and troubleshoot your Outlook file.
I've used every version of Outlook since 2000 and have been able to trace this issue a couple of times to an appointment that has a recurring setting. You can change the view of your appointments and list them. When you do that, you may be able to locate an appointment that doesn't look right. I had to print out all of my appointments once and then reenter them. Luckily I didn't have that many, so it didn't matter. Again, this is usually something corrupt in the Outlook file that will make the problem appear, and since everything else in Outlook is syncing except the calendar, that is the place to look.

    Hello,

    - Not Synchronized
    Outlook Contacts synchronization failed
When I go to the settings, also there is the same error : “This version of Outlook is not supported by the Outlook Conduit application. Supported outlook versions are Outlook 98, 200, XP(2002) and 2003.”. It looks like the upgrade with palmoutlook2007conduits have no effect in Windows 7.
