BPS Web Document Performance

I have layouts that read documents. In BPS0, performance is excellent whether calling up an existing comment, or inputing new ones.
However on web, it takes forever after clicking on a cell selection for the document to show up.
I did not find any notes on this topic. Could someone share his/her experience on the issue? Thanks very much.

Has there been any response to this issue? I am also experiencing performance problems with the usage of documents with web layouts. Activating the document component and retrieving documents is awkward for users - poor performance.
Any suggestions?

  • BPS Web Application performance

    Hi
    We are facing serious performance problems when opening a BPS planning web layout. This has been working fine until we compressed the planning cube accesed trough the layout. When monitoring the dialog processes it seems like the process i hanging without doing anything. There is onlye about 25k records in the cube an only about 10 characteristics so in general it is a very little transactional cube.
    Queries against the transactional cube is responding normal.
    We are using Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 and BI 7.0 SP13
    Has anybody experienced this? and do you know the solution.

    Hi William,
    you can restrict the initial number of levels that are loaded. Please see SAP note <a href="http://service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=01100107900000000342&_EVENT=DISPL_TXT&_NNUM=720264/">720264</a>.

  • Calling up a Performance Manger SPC Chart from a WebI document

    Post Author: satwar
    CA Forum: Performance Management and Dashboards
    Please forgive my terminology, as I'm only a superuser of B.O. not a computer trained person.I have put a few years into configuring WebI document reports in InfoView of B.O. XI 2.  Our company is getting into SPC in a big way, hence my attention has turned to Performance Manager.  I was disappointed to learn that I have to create a whole new Universe of objects in Performance Manager in order to conduct SPC analysis on the variables I have been reporting in tables & graphs in WebI documents in InfoView.I can learn to accept that aspect of B.O. but I am a little concerned about my users having to navigate through Performance Manager to view SPC analytics.  My users have put up considerable resistance just navigating to WebI documents in InfoView.Hope seemed to be around the corner when I read about calling up Performance Manager analytics from WebI documents.  Having read the details it seems like these WebI documents are created in the Performance Manager Universe, not in the Infoview WebI documents that I have already developed in InfoView.If anyone can explain and clarify how this feature works, I'd be eternally grateful.

    You can Link any documents that are stored as objects in the cmc, regardless of the universe or way in which they were created.openAnalytic.jsp will allow you to open pretty much anything much as does openDocument  int the webi world.Once you create the SPC chart in process analysis youll need to view it in the control chart screen then click save as and save it into one of you folders in the corp repository. When this is done you can quickly get an example of the URI syntax by going to create new document in dashboard manger, selecting interactive metric trends, expanding navigation and legend opions, clicking browse, selecting your newly saved analytic and clicking ok.  This will but a url into the text box which you can copy and paste into your webi doc links - here's an example of the kind of thing... openAnalytic.jsp?DocumentName=MySPCanalytictest&RepositoryType=C&RepositoryName=SPCTest&DocumentExt=afd&DocumentId=AadTAN28x6lMpTxxlAhW09s&mode=full You may need to stick the odd ../../ or /jsp/ etc in front of the url depecing where you plan to call it from of course. You'll find descriptions of parameters etc for openAnalytic in the product docs. cheers,jez.

  • BPS Web Interface don't show multiple documents for each cell

    Hi gurus,
    I have an issue... we are trying use text documents from BPS on the WEB interface. Everything works fine, I can input text documents on each cell on the web, and from Query as well.
    I saved several other documents from the query for the very same cell, and I can see these other documents from BPS itself or from the Query by clicking on the title... but on BPS WEB interface, it shows only the last text document saved.
    Is there anything wrong on the configuration, or is it possible for the WEB interface to show the titles so that the user can choose which document he wants to open?
    Thanks in advance,

  • How to hide cells in the sumation row in bps web layouts

    Hello xperts,
    I'm looking for a possibility to hide certain cells in the sumation row within a planing table (layout) over the webinterface builder.
    can anybody help me.
    I know there is a possibility to influence a table with the tableinterface for reporting tables.
    Is there any similar possibility in BPS- Web interface builder like a java script ?
    Please help !!!

    Hi Thomas,
    what exactly do you mean by "hide certain cells"? Do want to empty the contents of the cell or actually hide the cell? Hiding works for entire rows or entire tables, but hiding colums or even single cells is a bit more difficult (given, that when you hide one cell, the table loses its rectangular shape and the rows and columns don't match anymore ).
    I mangaged to change the appearance of certain objects with javascript. But that works only if you have an ID or NAME attribute in the HTML-source. Let's say you have a button and want to make it disappear.
    1. Create the button in the wi builder, name it button1.
    2. Create a text/html field, mark the html flag.
    3. Edit the long text of the field:
    <script>
      document.getElementById('button1').style.display='none';
    </script>
    That will make the button disappear. But I don't think that the display attribute will have any effect on a TD. You can try with style.InnerHTML or maybe set style.color to the background color. But in any case, the TD in the HTML code needs to have an ID or NAME. Otherwise it can't be referred. Maybe changing the bsp with SE80 helps?

  • BI Launch pad - error opening WebI documents

    Hello,
    We have newly installed BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0 with Client tools.
    When we are trying to open WebI documents from BI Launch Pad we are getting the following error message.
    (Error: RWI 00200) (Error: INF)
    Does anyone have any idea what does this mean?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Mark,
    Did you ever find the solution?  By the way, you should not concern yourself with the AIX system.  You should be able to connect with client tools from your local windows PC usng the corresponding DB 32 bit drivers.
    I am having the same problem only with webi.  Crystal reports work.  Issue was not present on BO4-SP2, but getting this issue on BO4-SP4.  BO4-SP4 webi worked with other clients; but not on this particular install.
    In the past, the issue was fixed by performing a re-install, since there are so many variables that I have seen on this issue.  In this case, I've ran out of options that I know to fix the issue.  It would be helpful to circumvent a new install.

  • Save through BPS web button

    Hi Guys,
       When I click the save button at the BPS web applications, it will take two minute to save my data while it only take 10 second to save in BPS0. Anybody know how to improve this in Web application?
    Thanks

    Hallo,
    try to figure out first, where is the performance problem.
    You can activate the statistic with the transactions:
    /nBPS_STAT0 (for Data reading and functions) and /nbps_trace (for APIs). Then run your Web. Analyse the trace data, at which is the most critical.

  • BEx Web Applications in BPS Web Interfaces

    Hi all,
    I need to make a BPS web interface which enables the business user to see data in the BW system while posting the budget items in BPS. This is to be done in the Web, and I have therefore tried to implement a solution for the customer following the instructions in the HowTo-paper: "How To.... Integrate BEx Web Applications into BPS Web Interfaces".
    The report is displayed when the interface is executed, but the variable which I have included in the code does NOT have any effect on the BW query (which is a surprise to me) but rather only on the BPS Web Interface (which is no surprise to me).
    The above results in two questions:
    - What part of this code needs to be changed for the variable to take effect on the BW query as well as the BPS Web Interface:
    <iframe
        id="BWReport01"
        name="BWQUERY"
        src="/sap/bw/BEx?
        cmd=ldoc&TEMPLATE_ID=ALLOK_CHECK2"
        width="1200"
        height="600">
        Frames are not supported
    </iframe>
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
        var frame  = document.getElementByld( 'BWReport03' );
        var url    = '/sap/bw/BEx?cmdldoc&TEMPLATEID=';
        var filter = '&FILTER_IOBJNM=0PROFIT_CTR&FILTER_COLLAPS=&FILTER_VALUE_EXT=';
        var '1000/'  = '';
        var appl   = 'ALLOK_CHECK2';
        var varvl  = '%=descr(VarvlSel1_pctr/value)%>';
        var convert = /\((.*)\)/;
        convert.exec(varvl);
        if ( RegExp.$1 != "") varvl = RegExp.$1;
        url = url + appl + filter + comp + varvl;
        url = url.replace(/ /,"");
        frame.src = url;
    </script>
    Particular areas where I am in doubt (in squared brackets):
    [  var '1000/'  = ''; ]
    [  var convert = /\((.*)\)/; ]
    - has anyone had any experience in using the Selector Package (SEL_PACKAGE) rather than the Selector Variable Value (SEL_VARVL)? In case you have, how is it implemented in the HTML-code?
    Looking forward to hearing from you guys soon.
    Best regards
    Rune Rygaard

    Hi Rune,
    Here's what I found - I'm not sure it will solve your problem, but maybe it can give you some hints:
    <b><iframe
    id="BWReport01"
    name="BWQUERY"
    src="/sap/bw/BEx?
    cmd=ldoc&TEMPLATE_ID=ALLOK_CHECK2"
    width="1200"
    height="600">
    Frames are not supported
    </iframe></b>
    I think the section above in bold has to be deleted and replaced by the one specified in section 3.3 of the how to paper: <iframe id=BWReport03" name="BWQUERY" src="/sap/bw/mime/....</iframe>. The reason is the your defintion will display the report, but will not take any variables into consideration.
    Furthermore you're missing a '=' in your code (cmd=ldoc) - I marked it in bold below. What you could also do was to add an alert to display the URL generated by the javascript. I added that in bold as well. That can give you an idea of whats missing.
    Hope this helps,
    Jacob Lund - DK :o)
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    var frame = document.getElementByld( 'BWReport03' );
    var url = '/sap/bw/BEx?<b>cmd=ldoc</b>&TEMPLATEID=';
    var filter = '&FILTER_IOBJNM=0PROFIT_CTR&FILTER_COLLAPS=&FILTER_VALUE_EXT=';
    var '1000/' = '';
    var appl = 'ALLOK_CHECK2';
    var varvl = '%=descr(VarvlSel1_pctr/value)%>';
    var convert = /\((.*)\)/;
    convert.exec(varvl);
    if ( RegExp.$1 != "") varvl = RegExp.$1;
    url = url + appl + filter + comp + varvl;
    url = url.replace(/ /,"");
    <b>alert (url);</b>
    frame.src = url;
    </script>

  • 2004s Web report performance is not good ,though that of 3x web is OK.

    Hi,
    I feel 2004s Web report performance is bad, though that of 3x web is no problem (the same query is used.) it is worse than BEx analyzer.
    This query has more than 1,000 records and those queries that have many records result in the same bad performance.
    Of course there are many reason for this bad performance, please tell me your solution by which you solve the same problem like this.
    the SIDs of EP and BI is difference here.
    CPU is not consumed when 2004s web report is executed.
    And I have cancelled  virus scan to this web report...
    Kind regards,
    Masaaki

    It is bad, am sure it's down to the new .net and java based technology.  Aggregates are a way forwards though from what i've heard of the BI Accelerator this is the real way forwards.

  • Extracting SQL statement from a Webi document's data provider using SDK.

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to extract the SQL statement from an existing Webi document's data provider using BO SDK?  I've searched through the class library but haven't found any information on this yet.  If you have done it, could you provide some guidance.  Many thanks.

    I found the following Java code that might be of some help to you. I realize you are using .NET but this might push you down the right path.
    The trick here is to use the Report Engine SDK to get the DataProvider of the DocumentInstance. Then, look at the SQLDataProvider to get your SQLContainer.
    My apologies for the poor formatting. This didn't copy and paste over to the forums very well. I've cleaned up as much as I could.

  • How to add a new filter in an existing web service method (BIWS - WEBI document)

    Hello Experts, we have 7 web service query's connected to a dashboard. Basically it is one WSDL URL and 7 Get Methods...Web service queries are BIWS (via WEBI document instance). There are filters setup for each of these web service methods.
    Recently there was a request to add 2 new fields to the webi document and also the 2 fields need to be included as filters in the 7 methods. I know there is an option to edit the method, but when i edit the method, i cannot find the 2 new fields in list to set as filters.Can anybody help me understand how to add filters to an existiing web service method? I do not want to delete the method and republish the block as web service.
    Any help will be great and points rewarded.
    Thank you
    Ann

    Hi Ann,
    The reason you are not able to see any of the new columns as a option to select in your web service block is because when you have published that block, they were not present. Add these two new objects in your block and publish it again. You will be prompted for duplication content. Select the highlighted block for duplicate and now you can see the new added objects in the filter option. Update and this will overwrite your published block. Please note, web services do appear to behave weirdly when used with dashboards so I request you to please try it in a separate test report first.
    Hope that helps.

    Hi,
    Try some other LO extractor in RSA3 to check if you get the same error.
    If you dont then it may not be system memory issue, check if thr is some user exit written for the extractor.The problem could be in the user exit whr the internal table may get overflown and lead to the page overfloen dump.
    If this is also not the case try reducing the packet size.
    Let me know if the issue is resolved.

  • How to get the filters of Webi document/Report using Java code in XI SDK.

    Hi All,
       I have a requirement where i have to extrcat filters from the Webi Document.using java SDK.
    I am trying to find the class called "filterable"but not able to use in my java code and will get always
    "java.lang.ClassCastException  com.businessobjects.wp.om.OMDocument cannot be cast to com.businessobjects.rebean.wi.Filterable"
    I am using the below java code like
    ReportElement re=document.getStructure()
    FilterContainer flt=((Filterable) re).getFilter()
    I am stuck and need this in uregent.
    Please help.

    Hi Rajeev,
    To retrieve a FilterContainer you will need to traverse the report structure:
    ReportStructure boReportStructure = boDocumentInstance.getStructure();
    ReportContainer boReportContainer = (ReportContainer) boReportStructure.getReportElement(0);
    FilterContainer boFilterContainer = null;
    if (boReportContainer.hasFilter()) {
         boFilterContainer = boReportContainer.getFilter();
    } else {
         boFilterContainer = boReportContainer.createFilter(LogicalOperator.AND);
    Calling boDocumentInstance.getStructure() will retrieve the entire structure for the document.
    Calling boReportStructure.getReportElement(0) will retrieve the structure for the first report of the document.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Dan
