BR 1310 tracert response

I have a  small network with 2 x BR 1310's. Home site islinked to first(root) 1310 with fibre; then wireless link 1km to customer site with second 1310; at customer site CAT5/6 to Sonic Wall (Dell); then customer switch; then Video/Voice over IP. The customer site is very remote. I can PING each unit individually, however if I use PINGPLOTTERPING to PING the customer switch the two 1310's do not show up on the path. Is there a seting in the 1310 which will allow it to respond. I understand that thismay be a security issue for production but it would be helpful for troubleshooting.

Well the bridge is a layer 2 and a trace route utilize layer 3 so you would not be able to see a response from the bridges unless it is a direct ping.

    Hi,
I am sorry about that. I did not catch that on your original post. We would like to further investigate this issue. For anyone experiencing this issue and have tried changing the DNS and disabling IPv6, please send us a detailed message by clicking here. Be sure to include your name, account number, phone number, and the best time to reach you.
Keep an eye on the at the top right corner of your screen for a response.
In the meantime, let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

    1) I've done a bit of diagnostic sleuthing:
From home (on U-verse) I see that www.facebook.com is being routed to Atlanta (which is expected). This also happens on the non-AT&T network at work.  Atlanta is ~150 miles away, and probably the nearest akamai CDN center.  When at work, I see that the picture references that Facebook codes into my pages go to an Atlanta CDN address.  However, when at home, the picture references that Facebook is coding into their pages is in... Miami, FL.  You can tell it by looking at the DNS name, but a traceroute confirms it.
So... one issue is that Facebook is sending the traffic nearly 1000 miles (or 5 times) further than it has to go.
The next thing I see is that my packets get handed off from AT&T to Level3 in Atlanta... and once that happens, TRACERT responses get very spotty.  Solid to that point, spotty after that point.  Now that, by itself, doesn't mean anything, but when I ping those Level3 addresses, I still get 30% or higher packet loss. So... it appears that, along the route FB is sending me (that I don't need to go in the first place), Level3 is dropping packets (I guess in protest).
    2) If we want AT&T to work on troubleshooting this issue, then it would behoove you to report it through official channels.  One way to do that is to click this U-verse Customer Service link to send a Private Message (PM) to the AT&T customer service team to report this issue. You can expect a reply via return PM (the blue envelope   in the upper right hand corner of this site, next to your name and avatar) in a business day or three.
This is a group of U-verse service specialists who are knowledgeable about U-verse and will stay with your problem until the end (instead of forgetting about it when the phone hits the cradle). Speed things up by including your Billing Account Number, and the best time and way to reach you.
    3) You should also take advantage of Facebook's Report a Problem link.  Get both companies invested in working on a solution.

  • Reader v11 Update fails on Windows Vista (entire network) with error 1310

Tried to run the Reader v11 updater after installing v11.  It fails comsistently with error 1310, although the file in the error message is different each time.  The file is usually, but not always, in the folder config.msi.
We had this problem in the Reader v10 updaters as well, however we traced it to a race condition in file handling.  We could get it to install by running other programs concurently or disabling anti-virus, to alter the timing of the install.  Usually it took 3 to 6 attempts for it to complete successfully.
With the v11 updater, no amount of iterations will get it to install.  We've tried upwards of 20 times.  We've also tried re-installing v11 and then applying the update over a fresh copy.  That does not work either.  The usual tricks that worked with v10 also do not work with v11.
This problem could be solved easily if the updater would prompt the user for a retry on error, instead of automatically rolling back.  For the main installer, the user is prompted to retry, but not for the updater.  We run plenty of installers in the school without problems, but the Reader updates are always difficult.
We have wasted dozens of hours on this in our school.  We are supposed to keep the Reader patched to avoid the significant vulnerabilities it introduces, but we cannot get the updater to run.  If anyone else has solved this problem please let us know.

Lorraine, I posted a question in the Adobe Reader forums about the
problems we have with the updaters.  I got back this response, they
are blaming it on other software and the Windows Installer.  I think
that can't be true, we install all kinds of stuff without problems.
So I think the truth is they've done a crappy job on their updaters.
The latest update is for an extremely serious vulnerability, it's
active in the  wild and has made the national news.  So if we can't
install the update, then I think we have to move away from Adobe
    altogether, to another reader.
Can you think of any reason not to do this?

  • Error 1310 when trying to update Acrobat X Pro?

I keep getting error 1310 when I try to update Acrobat X Error writing to file C:\config.ms.\2c20c8I.rbf. Verify you have access to that file.
Windows Vista  computer. I am signed on as an administrator with full access. A while back, I was having the same issue with the Master Suite CC and an Adobe Tech had me try many things with no success. Finally all other updates have installed except this one. The tech worked with me and verified the file was ther and was set up tp be accessable. Still no luck. Any ideas, anyone?

Yes, I checked the file location. It is there and I supposedly have access to it. I went thru this all with an Adobe tech in the past when none of the other Cloud apps would update. Now the only update left is Acrobat x Pro which still gives me the same message. Please note again that I have been getting this message in the past and the message is a common one if you google it and look at all the responses. This is not just my problem!

  • Lower than expected 1310 bridge performance

    Hi All,
We have recently installed an wireless WAN link over 7 km (aproximate 4.5 milles) distance. The towers are sufficent for fresnel and earth bulge and obstacles requirements.
We have used Cisco Aironet 1310 bridges (one configured as root bridge, the other as non-root bridge). The antennas are 24 dBi from Hyperlink, connected by RP-TNC to N pigtails, also provided by Hyperlink. According the Cisco utilities, the antennas has more than enough gain for the distance, climatic and topographic conditions.
The alignement of the antennas was made visually (using binoculars) on one side, on the other with precision instruments.
To select the frequency (the automatic selection works awfuly bad, it establish connection one of three times) we use the Carrier Busy Test on the network interface / Radio 802.11G menu, where we are able to pick the frequency with zero percent (0%) utilization most of the time.
The problems we experiment are the following:
    - The latency times are very variable. From 1 ms, to 207 ms, to other values. We have used other wireless equipment with more stable performance.
    - There are lost packets frequently, even with the slightest network traffic (2 PC's with terminal service sessions). Supousedly, the link is of 54 Mbps speed, but the quality is very low.
    - At the moment, we are losing connection every couple of minutes. After that the non-root configured bridge stays down and the only way to reestablish connection is by reseting the 1310.
    - I see that the speed changes every time I refresh the IE utility.
I still havent configured any security, because the awful way the link works.
What could be the reason for such bad performance?
    Best Regards,
    Igor Sotelo.

    Hi All,
I have noticed that when the switches have VLAN configured, the latency is very variable. In this particular case, the switches does not have this configuration. I haven't configured VLAN's on the wireless bridges either.
I will test the link without any switches, it's an good idea. Perhaps there is "something" with the wired network.
Other than that the specifics are:
    - I have used Belden RG-6 1530A cable that has even higher grade than the Belden 9077 recommended by the manuals.
    - The extension of the cables is around 40 meters (120 foot).
    - We have installed another wireless link in the place, that uses the same frequency, but different polarity. Also we try to separate the channels at least 7 frequencies.
    - The other system is omnidireccional in nature, and it doesn't have excessive gain.
    - On the place where the equipment of both systems coexist, the physical separation between the antennas of the two systems is around 9 foots (3 meters).
The error messages we get are:
    - On the root bridge:
Mar 1 00:00:57.238 Information Interface Dot11Radio0, Deauthenticating Station 0017.0ec6.a590 Reason: Previous authentication no longer valid
Mar 1 00:00:57.237 Warning Packet to client 0017.0ec6.a590 reached max retries, removing the client
    - On the non-root bridge:

Mar 1 16:19:51.072 Error Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to up

    Mar 1 16:14:55.788 Warning Interface Dot11Radio0, Associated To AP Central-2 0017.0ec6.a580 [None]
When we make a reload on any of the bridges the link reestablishes for some time. With this message on the root bridge:
    Mar 1 00:00:44.194 Information Interface Dot11Radio0, Station NONROOTNAME 0017.0ec6.a590 Reassociated KEY_MGMT[NONE]
Mar 1 00:00:35.456 Notification Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to up
I will appreciate any additional help.

  • INVALID RESPONSE CODE 301

    Hi Techie's..
In a webdynpro application I have used a Web Service model to get backend data; we have a cluster environment in Test (two server nodes linked with load balancing server and a sap dispatcher).
Using visual administrator --> web services container, the endpoint & WSDL is set to the load balancing server. The webdynpro application fails with this error
The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:

The application works fine in development environment, the endpoint points to the single server node.
Can you let me know how to resolve this issue, we need to have this scenario of load balancing in place such that the web services also get invoked in a load balanced mode.

    Hey buddy...
The address is changed.... this code is a standard http status.
Is a warning, saying that your target is not in this place... target changes....
try to verify this target... under your web browser, or telnet, tracert... whatever... check what is your return...

  • Error 1310. Error writing to file C:\Config.Msi\356163.rbf when trying to repair Office 2010

I am having trouble with Excel 2010 crashing.  I have tried to repair Office 2010 but I keep getting the response:
Error 1310. Error writing to file C:\Config.Msi\356163.rbf.  Please verify that you have access to that directory.
Can that error be fixed or should I just uninstall Office and reinstall???

    Hi,
Essentially the CONFIG.MSI folder contains backups of files that are being installed or updated during a program installation. However, sometimes the installer program fails to add & remove these files because the access permissions have been
changed by some programs. Please try the following steps to add the Everyone group with Full Control permissions to the Config.Msi Folder:
Show Hidden Files and Folders in Windows 7
1.Start > in Search programs and files box, type Folder Options then Enter.
    2.Click the View tab.
3.Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files, folders, and drives,
4.Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended), and then click OK.
Add the Everyone group with Full Control permissions to the Config.Msi Folder
    1.Open My Computer
    2.Double-click on Drive C
    3.Look for the CONFIG.MSI folder
4.Right-click on the CONFIG.MSI folder and  and then click Properties and then click the Security tab.
5.Click the Edit... button and on the next screen click Add.
6.On the next screen, in the large text window type Everyone and then click Check Names - Everyone should then be underlined.
7.Check the box for Full control under the Allow column, and then click OK, then OK again, and OK again to close all the windows.
Now try repairing your Office 2010 again.
    Best regards,
    Rex Zhang

  • Aironet 1310 errors...

    Hi,
we have got two ofices in different area. We decided to connect them with two AP's Aironet 1310 with mode point-to-point bridge. We have voice traffic over this wi-fi channel. If we use IOS 12.3(4)-JA we have noticed many errors in the logs 1310 such as "DOT11-4-MAXRETRIES: Packet to client [mac] reached max retries, remove
the client" or "DOT11-4-UPLINK_LINK_DOWN: Interface Dot11Radio0, parent lost: To many retries". The connection betwen AP's is down at regular intervals and not established again. The connection has upped only after disconnect and reconnect the power injector power jack. Time to response is less than 100 ms for ping. We have changed IOS ver 12.3(8)-JA2 and unfortunately it doesn't help, though the errors has noticed less, but Time to response is between 70 ms and 5000 ms. It is too bad for normal work in our ofices, we wanted to have Time to response about 50 ms. Could you advise something?
    Thanks.

Packet to client MAC reached max retries, remove the client" is happened when your client try to associate AP which doesn't support client function correctly (usually authentication type doesn'tmatch).

  • Aironet 1310 interface dot11 0 stuck in reset

Hi trying to connect two APs with one being root and the other non root. After configuring, the wireless interface on the non root remains stuck
int reset mode. Below is the error message i get and have tried and cant find out what the problem is.
%DOT11-4-CANT_ASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response
    Will appreciate any help. thanks

As per dmantill mention once we have a 1310 in root bridge and the other one in non root bridge the non root bridge will not enable the radio until it sees a good signal from the root bridge and its status will be reset down.
Remember that we have 2 types of 1310 the ones with build in antennas and the ones with no build in antenna and require and external antenna connected to it.
To know if your unit has a build in antenna or not the part number will not include a (-R) if it has a (–R) it means that the unit does not have a build in antenna.
Also remember that when we work with bridges we need to set them in install mode (install root bridge and install non root bridge)this mode will only allow the units to associate to each other and not pass traffic and the led’s on the back of the unit will stop works as usual and help us for antenna alignment between the units.
Here is the link that lets us know what each sequence we get on the leds once in install mode to know how god the antenna aliment or signal is.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1300/installation/guide/130h_c3.html#wp1056656
Also remember that when working with bridges by defaults the units are set to work at full power and this would create 2 scenarios.
For example, if the units are able to cover up to 5km with full power if the distance between the units is more than 5 km then they will not be able connect and if the distance is shorter than 5 km let’s say 1 km and we leave the units at full power there is going to be too much interface and signal to noise on the connection due to the short distance between the units and at the end this could make the units not see a good signal between them.
For instance lets say we are on a football field and each of us is on a touchdown side and for us to be able to hear each other we need to scream to each other, but if we then walk to the center of the field and we keeping screaming we are going to hear ourselves but we will not be able to understand what we are saying to each other and we will need to lower our voice.
Here is the outdoor range calculation utility to check what is the exact distance we can cover with a unit and at an specific data rate.

  • High Avg Response time for logon requests via CMS

    Hi Team ,
We are continuously receiving observing high Average reponse time for logon requests to the BO system  via  Central Management Server.
We observe response time up to 25043 ms .
Currently we are on SAP BO 4.0  SP7 patch 9  (4.0.7.9)
    DB = SQL server 2008 R2
App Server = SAP NW 7.31 SP 7.
Also the size of our CMS DB is around 15 GB .
What could be  the possible reasons ?
    Regards ,
    Abhinav

    Hi Abhinav,
As one of the issues has been raised as a bug which is resolved in BI 4.1 so you can upgrade to resolve this bug. Also if the CMS database size is large then CMS has to search for objects through huge number of rows hence that will affect overall performance. So you can try to reduce this size as per my previous upate.
Apart this you can try following steps
Try to ping CMS DB server from BO servers and confirm the response is coming in 1 ms. Run tracert <DB servers name> from CMD and check the number of hops. If response time is not 1 ms or there are more number of hops then ask your network team to resolve network latency issue
You can increase the "System database connections"  for each CMS from server properties. It is set to 14 by default which means the CMS will establish 14 connections to CMS database at any time. You can increase this value, however please make sure that the system database allows more connections than default 14 from DB side. This needs to be confirmed from your DBA.
Please add CMS cluster members in platformservices.properties file under Tomcat folder. Please refer following SAP KBA for steps to add the cluster members
           http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1668515
           http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1766935
       4. Also please confirm number of users simultaneously login to system at peak time. Usually one           CMS is capable of handling around 500 requests. So if you have more then 1000 users then add           another new CMS on same nodes if there is enough free memory on the server

Looks like there is an issue of the boot image. You have to follow steps given in below link recover from this.

  • Wireless 1310 intermittent issues

we have a link between two 1310 bridges and for a few months everything was fine.
now, every so often we get high response times when running a ping. The average response normally is around 2ms peaking to 7ms but every so often it spikes to say 300ms and then 700ms. Also, Every so often we see that the link goes down and the logs say deauthenticated and then no response. we have to reboot the wireless bridges (BOTH OF THEM) then this works after a reset.
    any ideas?

There are several reasons for an intermittent connectivity issue to occur with a building to building Wireless bridge setup.
Reasons like RF Interference, Fresnel Zone, Clear Channel Assessment etc are there. The following document should give you a clear picture on this

    Dear experts,

    rgds,
    woo.

It appears that you are assigning IP address properly. For some reason we are not getting a response from TFTP server. This is typically one of 2 things:
    1. Firewall on the TFTP server workstation
    2. Connectivity issue between AP and TFTP server
I would check firewall settings on the TFTP workstation. Are you connecting the AP to the workstation directly or through a switch? If it is through a switch, you could plugin a different workstation to the AP switchport to make sure it could reach the server as well.
