Hi. More information about your system : The OS,SAP version,BRTOOLS version, where goes backup?
    If OS Windows platform -->
BR261E Program cancelled by signal 15 means
The program was terminated with one of the following actions:
    - "End Task" button from the "Task List" popup
    - The window where BRBACKUP/BRARCHIVE was running was closed
    - System shutdown
    Also :
The backup or restore is stuck due to backup media problems.
    Check your backup media.
    Regards.

    1. Would you know what yould cause this Cannot read from standard input?
    2. Is there a maximum number of process that can/should be passed to -e option?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Hello Benoît,
if I understood correctly, your brbackup was not started interactively, but in background, by crontab or DB13 or something like that.
As you perhaps know, signal 2 usually means that the process was interrupted by a ctrl-C from keyboard. This should not happen for a background process.
It could be that someone played around with kill command.
I rather suspect some resource bottleneck.
Could you please check Unix kernel parameters (or whatever their equivalent in SunOS is called - I am not familiar with it).
Or any suspicious entries in Unix log files?
    regards

  • BRbackup is failing with signal 15

    Hi all
i am facing below problem while backing up .
    BR0280I BRCONNECT time stamp: 2007-05-09 09.35.30

    #SIGNAL CAUGHT: 15
    #INBACKUP Table name
SID has been changed due to security reason.
is anybody come to this type of problems
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
The suggestion is perfect, only one caution.
Keep in mind that you are executing BRBACKUP and this calls BRCONNECT.
    BRCONNECT is failing.
This means that the interesting information will be delivered by BRCONNECT.
Set the environment variable to get the trace:
    BR_TRACE=15
and then you can start BRBACKUP with a lower trace, to avoid all the data of the level 15 on the BRBACKUP log:
    BRBACKUP <options> -TRC 1
With this two settings you get a small trace level for BRBACKUP ( -TRC 1 ) and a high level for BRCONNECT ( environment -> BR_TRACE=15 )
    Hope it helps.
    Fidel

  • BRBACKUP/DBVerify restarts DB

    Hi all,
I run DBVerify using the following BRBACKUP command :
    brbackup -u / -c force -w only_dbv -p initSID.sap -m ALL
backup_type is set to 'online' in the initSID.sap
So DB is open when I run DBVerify.
The execution is OK but the problem is, if I want to stop the instance while DBVerify is running, the brbackup process is not killed and it starts itself the database.
The following messages appear in the dbv log :
    BR0395I Verifying /oracle/SID/sapdata1/id1_73/id1.data73 using DBVERIFY...

Is that the normal behavior of brbackup/dbverify (with the options I use)
Is there any way that brbackup/dbverify does not start the database ?

    SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME = 10
    CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER = 10
But when I have stop the instance, I have stop the listener too.

  • Why does my signal drop every time I try to use an application.

I've got a UFO style 802.11g, which I unfortunately kept up to date with the updates.
For well over a year now I've had my gear set up like this, airport in the den, my wife's older Imac in the den with it, the printer in the den as well and my Imac across the house. Now, everything in the den connects like cake. Always up, always a great signal.
My Imac across the house has always had it's ups and downs, we've got a stone fireplace and out kitchen in between. Basically, it's 3 rooms away. A whole bunch of walls and corners for the signal to bounce off of. So, I know, not an ideal set up. But it's worked ok for a good long time.
So, a few months ago I performed the recommended update. It said that it would increase connection quality. So I thought, hey, this might help me out! At first glance my connection seemed great! I never lost a bar, not while I was looking anyway. Then I started noticing that occasionally I switch a webpage or some such and it would tell me that I wasn't connected to the internet. What? I look up and I've got all the bars, so I try again and get through... then I notice the bars just flat out go dead. Now I can't connect again. Odd.
Ok, so I start paying attention and it just drops out at random... now, the signal used to fluctuate up and down fairly regularly before the update. I'd researched the problem and found out all the things that can interrupt my signal, and basically I've got em all in between my Airport and my Imac. I could live with that, because it would slow down, but it stayed connected for the most part. This was something new.
Ok, back to the problem at hand. Now I see the signal is either all bars or none. No 2 bars, no 3 bars. Here or gone. And while I'm paying attention, I notice that practically every time I click on something, from my mail app to a preview image the signal drops to nothing. Seemed a coincidence at first, but know I'm certain that it isn't.
So, random complete signal loss and complete signal loss when I use and app. Really not pleased.
Ok, so I figured maybe there's a fix on the way, but I've heard nothing of it. I installed the most recent update, absolutely no effect. Oh, and this one too was supposed to provide better connectivity. Where? I'm not seeing it! Everything in the den works just as well as it ever has. That's one of the things I've loved about Mac for more than 10 years. Easy to use and reliable. But this, this is just a big old pain.
I've tried to extend the network unsuccessfully with the Express. I've got another option to try with that, so my fingers are crossed. But I just don't get why my network is now worse than when I set it up when the only change that's been made have been the updates that I installed at Apple's insistence that my signal would actually be better.
Sorry for being so long winded, and for anyone who made it this far... is there anything that I can do? I really do prefer to have my office in the room that it's in, but it doesn't help me at all when I have to move my Imac to use it online.

This may sound stupid, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway. Is it possible, that if I have enough junk on my desktop it might disrupt the signal? It seems odd, but it kind of looks like my signal is strong and relatively steady now that I've cleaned my desktop. I do tend to get very cluttered. I use a lot of reference images and save text clippings to use later... it just piles up very quickly.
So, I wonder if all that extra effort my system has to do keeping up with the junk might have something to do with the drop outs?

  • How to deal with several itunes users in a house

I will try to be brief but explain what I don't know how to configure.
We have three children. We have 5 laptops that work wirelessly, and we have music and photos all stored on a shared NAS drive. We moved our iTunes music folder successfully to it when we set up.
    1. We set everyone's folder location, under preferences, to the folder on the NAS drive.--- It won't stay. With any reboot or interruption in signal it switches back to the individual computer's hard drive. This is a pain, because every time you reset it, you have to wait for 30 gigs of music to update. This has been asked before and no one answers it. Is it a bug and is Apple aware?
    2. I understand that we can "share" our libraries. But how do we deal with the issue of individual family members purchasing songs from iTunes? As in, I would like to add songs my teen bought to my ipod, but how do I know if there is new music beside asking them to "log" all their purchased so I can manually look for them. We can't just sync every time. They have nanos, and I don't want to have to weed through Christmas music, audio books, and Kidz Bop each time and delete them. What about someone finding they are not "authorized" to play a song? We can have 5 authorized no? I tried to drag something from a shared library onto an ipod and it wouldn't let me.
Please help. My last question dropped to page three by the end of the day with no response.

I guess then I need to read more about my NAS drive, because it is always on. I read in another thread about the same issue the question was asked, "Is your NAS drive mounted?" I have no idea what that means. There was other ideas of making alias of the NAS iTunes folder and putting in on the laptop's dock, but I didn't quite understand that either.
I thought NAS was a rapper. Well, I have no idea what a NAS drive is. But it should have no influence on iTunes' behavior. If that drive is always on and visible on your Desktop (= "mounted"), iTunes shouldn't change its settings re. its Library.
It would be easier to draw all this instead of explaining, but, well, we are not that far yet.
0: If you set up on all Macs that iTunes stores its files on one drive, iTunes should not change this on any of them as long as it is always on, as you said. If it does, thought, something is wrong. Don't ask me, what.
Ok, just to make this even more complicated, LOL if each person has their own laptop and ipod, and everyone in the household has used their 5 authorizations on each other's computers, then theoretically, when everyone accesses the itunes library they should be able to copy the songs onto their devices?
1: You can play all your music on this external drive from anywhere in the house.
2: You can activate the DRM files on every Mac in the house and play them.
3: You canNOT use one iPod on more than one Mac, regardless if the music is DRM or not. iPod 1 is associated with Mac A, iPod 2 with Mac B etc. If you change that, all music from iPod 1 will be deleted before the music from Mac B will be copied to it. So, it's always 1:A, 2:B etc., not iPod 1 : Mac A & B & C... Otherwise, your iPods would be regular external hard drives from which you could copy tons of music to someone else's PC, which is illegal. That's why all the music on an iPod is made invisible. And even after making it visible with special utilities (I tried that once), you won't be able to recognize which song is which. CDs are not stored together, etc. Apple would not have got the permissions for the iTunes Store / iPods from the music industry if it was the perfect utility for illegal music sharing.
Did I savvy what you meant?

  • Little troubles with DVB-S2 via MPlayer

    Hi,
I use the MPlayer already for quite a while to stream DVB-S and DVB-S2 with it. But for approximately two weeks something changed while watching HD-channels: the video track lags every few seconds; the audio track is quiet normal. However, the non-HD channels hide the problem.
E.g. while watching a German HD-channel, I find following terminal outputs:
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]mmco: unref short failure
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]reference picture missing during reorder
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]Missing reference picture
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]Increasing reorder buffer to 2
    h264 @ 0xf2b820]Increasing reorder buffer to 3
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]Increasing reorder buffer to 4
[mpegts @ 0xeb3080]PES packet size mismatch
**** Your system is too SLOW to play this! ****
Specially this message I can't understand, because I'm using a CPU AMD Phenom II X4 955 3,2 GHz, 8 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 RAM and the graphic card ASUS GTX 460 Top GDDR5 PCIe 1024 MB. But, let's continue with the outputs:
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]concealing 880 DC, 880 AC, 880 MV errors
    [h264 @ 0xf2b820]mmco: unref short failure
[h264 @ 0xf2b820]number of reference frames (0+6) exceeds max (5; probably corrupt input), discarding one
[h264 @ 0xf2b820]illegal short term buffer state detected
Furthermore I'm using two HHD WD20EARS, which are connected to RAID1 via 3ware 9650SE-2LP, and the DVB hardware decoder card Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2. My desktop environment is KDE SC 4.8.
    For starting the DVB-S2 streaming I use szap-s2 -r -p -S 1 -c ~/.mplayer/hdchannels.conf "NAME-OF-THE-HD-CHANNEL" in one terminal and mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 -demuxer lavf -cache 8192 in a second terminal.
I just mention all this stuff because I've absolutly no idea, what could be the reason. Before this troubles started, two weeks ago, everything worked flawlessly. Checking the /etc/log/pacman.log I can find out, that the Linux kernel was upgraded from 3.2.6-2 to 3.2.7-1 on 24th February. I'm not sure, but maybe since that time these failures appears. Presently I'm using Linux 3.2.8-1.
Has anyone an idea what might just be the cause? (Perhaps it could be a option to try the LTS-kernel?)

So, today I just made some small tests. First of all I tried to start a HD-channel with WinTV7 on Windows 7: The channel was streamed correctly for almost one minute and than it was lost - and I had no possibilty to get it back.
After that I tried again to start the same HD-channel on Linux. I apologize in advance to the large amount of text but following is the terminal output of the first minute (finally canceled by STRG + C):

**** Your system is too SLOW to play this! ****
    Possible reasons, problems, workarounds:
    - Most common: broken/buggy _audio_ driver
    - Try -ao sdl or use the OSS emulation of ALSA.
    - Experiment with different values for -autosync, 30 is a good start.
    - Slow video output
    - Try a different -vo driver (-vo help for a list) or try -framedrop!
    - Slow CPU
    - Don't try to play a big DVD/DivX on a slow CPU! Try some of the lavdopts,
    e.g. -vfm ffmpeg -lavdopts lowres=1:fast:skiploopfilter=all.
    - Broken file
    - Try various combinations of -nobps -ni -forceidx -mc 0.
    - Slow media (NFS/SMB mounts, DVD, VCD etc)
    - Try -cache 8192.
    - Are you using -cache to play a non-interleaved AVI file?
    - Try -nocache.

  • [SOLVED] errors with fdisk and cryptsetup; is my drive going bad?

I'm having issues with re-formatting an external hard drive using dm-crypt. It was previously formatted with TrueCrypt/NTFS, which I used as a shared backup drive between Windows and Arch. At some point, it stopped being able to mount, which I attributed to allowing Windows to "fix" it after improper dismount (e.g. a hard kill).
I decided to re-format with ext4 and only use it from Arch, but now I'm wondering if I may have a hardware issue with the drive. I've tried a lot more (like going through the full zero write after mounting the drive as a temporary dm-crypt device), but here's the condensed version to illustrate the problem.
    system info
This is on a fresh boot. Just adding that as I've had issues with kernel modules after updating if a new kernel comes through. A fresh boot removes that potential issue.

Figured I should check the drive. There's a lot of old age and pre-fail warnings, but this post would seem to suggest I'm okay?

Things also tend to hang with respect to the drive at this point. For example, fdisk -l spits out /dev/sda partitions immediately and then just hangs instead of printing out /dev/sdb info, then eventually quits (without ever writing it).
Any suggestions on where to look/how to troubleshoot? I found some possibly related posts, but nothing that looks promising:
    - Impossible to crypt the drive using cryptsetup (fixed by rebooting)
    - cryptsetup fails to open Udev cookie 0xd4d94f5 (semid 0) waiting for z (no responses; the hang after seems similar)
There's a couple odds and ends references to cryptsetup 1.6.6 having issues. I downloaded 1.6.4-1 and 1.6.5-1 and -2 from ARM to try, but wanted to post this in the meantime in case something stuck out.

@qinohe I thought of that and the other day started formatting with mkfs.ext4; unfortunately, it was at work and I had to leave before I could let it finish. It had been chugging along a good few hours, and I was surprised it would take that long. I was able to format it with ext4 using Windows 7 (I dual boot) with the MiniTool Partition Wizard but I didn't use it like that before trying to solve the cryptsetup issue again.
This last time around, I was getting unresponsive behavior. I think I need to reboot each time I try something with cryptsetup, as any commands related to that drive seem to hang afterwards (fdisk, umount, eject, mkfs, or trying crypsetup again). Perhaps I'll just let it cook overnight with mkfs and see if I can at least have an unencrypted, but functional drive.
One interesting tidbit is that even though cryptsetup fails, when I've tried to issue mkfs afterward, it asks me to confirm that I want to format the disk since it has a LUKS header... so something appears to have been written. Is it possible the header is causing some issues? I don't know much about the structure of a disk (like what range the MBR resides in, what constitutes a header, etc.) but have been wondering if there's some way to start really, really clean with the disk. Like I'd just bought it -- something appears to be lingering around from previous efforts?
@frostschutz I'll check tomorrow. That's a good question. Just checked journalctl and here are some of the errors that appear; unfortunately, I wasn't watching so I can't tell you what matches up with what command:
    May 23 09:32:22 arch_840 systemd-udevd[7784]: inotify_add_watch(7, /dev/sdb1, 10) failed: No such file or directory
    May 23 09:32:22 arch_840 kernel: usb 3-4: stat urb: status -108
    ### there's lots like this; like 10 in a row with various sector values listed
May 23 09:32:19 arch_840 kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdb1, logical block 61341696, lost async page write
    May 23 09:32:19 arch_840 kernel: blk_update_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 490735616
    ### there's also a bunch like this, from tab #0 -> #29 (not colored red, so not sure they're errors?)
    May 23 09:32:19 arch_840 kernel: sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] tag#0 CDB: opcode=0x2a 2a 00 1d 07 bc 10 00 04 00 00
    May 23 09:32:18 arch_840 kernel: sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] tag#0 uas_eh_abort_handler 0 uas-tag 1 inflight: CMD OUT
I paged down quite a ways and those seem like the unique messages when I search the journal for "sdb". Anything stand out? I will say that the same sector numbers appeared in multiple blocks of the third error type listed, so that makes me wonder if something is genuinely wrong with the disk. I'll post the output of the full smartctl scan when I hopefully run it tomorrow.
    Thanks for chiming in!
