Brand new 21"-tilt freezes computer
Tilting the screen a few degrees up causes the screen to go black and freezes computer. Can only recover by rebooting. Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Anyone have any ideas? Computer is 5 days old and was bought through Apple Store.
Wow! That's a new one by me ... weird. Sounds as though something is loose or shorting out inside. Definitely take it back to the Apple Store ASAP.
If you have installed a lot of configs, apps and programs make a backup to an external disk with Time Machine and/or SuperDuper! ... you can restore to the replacement machine if necessary.
You could also ask the Apple Store to transfer your changes/additions to the replacement.

Brand new Macbook Pro freezes after iTunes-update??
Updated itunes to 10.5.1 last night and now itunes and my brand new Macbook Pro freezes whenever I open iTunes. I got it last week and it has worked perfectly, but now it freezes and has trouble finding the wifi. What to do?? Can I somehow undo the update?
Is this Java based game Runescape? I experience the same crashes, ive tried using other things in-game other than the OpenGl and i still experience crashes, much more often when i have iTunes running while trying to play. Ive never had problems like this before, even while using older computers with much less memory, etc.. This is my first mac and id have to say it's not leaving a good impression. I planned to be able to play some games on this and consider Runescape requires very low CPU this is kind of sad that a Mac can't process it without crashing. Ive been reading lots of similar posts online and it sounds like Apple should be worried more about customer satisfaction than their own stocks. Hope something works out soon!!

Brand New Macbook keeps freezing on start up...
So, just bought my first MAC and having a horrible experience so far. Brand new computer right out of box froze on me on star-up (at the screen with the spinning thing and the apple logo). So I hold down the power down to restart it and then it boots fine. The computer works fine after that, but when i turn off the computer for a few hours and try to turn it back on, it freezes again at the same spot.
I called Mac support and they told me to re-install the OS using archiving option, did it and didn't solve the issue, and actually it gave me a Kernel problem after that... So I called again they told me to do a clean install... did it.. and still doing it... I have tried repairing the permissions or whatever and nothing, still freezes on start-up.
Obviously, they won't let me return it so I can get a brand new one, they want to try to repair it first. This is sad since the computer is not even 1 week old...
Anyone has any clue what the problem might be ? At this point to me it seems its a hardware issue, i don't think it's software...I tried the fdsk and it did not work.
This morning i got a Kernel problem.
PANIC (CUP 0 CALLER 0X003A92A) or 1
UNABLE TO FIND DRIVER FOR THIS PLATFORM "ACPI"
DEBUGGER CALLED <PANIC>
There were a bunch of numbers and thing in between but you get the point... and as i was typing this message on my laptop, it froze, had to reboot it.
Here is the deal, which i don't think it's what's causing it since when i first turned it on without any of these plugged to it, it still froze on start but... I have the Apple pro keyboard and mouse attached to it, plus the Ipod cable + have it plugged to a Dell Monitor.
Would any of those things cause any problems ? I wouldnt think so, it better not because my sister's dell does the same thing and she has never had a problem with an external keyboard/mouse and monitor plugged in while turning on the computer...
Pretty sure this computer is just Dead on Arrival like someone said, the bad part is i bought it online at Apple store and i couldnt just walk in and return it...
Any other suggestions besides calling them and demanding a return ?
Thanks guys. -
My computer is a brandnew 27" iMac 3.4 ghz i7 1TB Fusion drive 8gb ram for just about a month. So far I have experienced freezing about 3 times during different tasks such as accessing options under preferences, selecting bookmark page in safari and other just basic tasks. When it happens nothing else will work such as shortcut keys to end applications or shortcut keys to restart and shutdown the computer. I have to resort to holding down the power button to shut it off and start over. Can this be attributed to software? Is it happening to anyone else? Should I be concerned and bring it to apple?
Instead of using the power button ... you can "force quit" apps.
Click Force Quit from the Apple menu (Apple icon top left in your screen)
Considering this iMac is so new, I would take it to the Apple Store where you purchased it.
Unless you purchased Apple Care, you have a one year limited warranty.
A brand new iMac should not be freezing. -
Brand New MacBook Pro Freezes When Playing Games
My sister recently received a brand new MacBook Pro courtesy of the University of Arizona and already she is having problems. When my sister plays a Java based game utilizing the Open Gl graphics plugin her computer will sometimes freeze after the graphics become distorted. during the freeze only the mouse will move and everything else is unresponsive, the only solution is to shut of the computer using the power button. All the updates have been installed and this doesn't happen any other time then when playing that game. This neither happens on her PC nor does it mine playing the same game. I'm not sure what the problem is and I would appreciate any help.

Brand new iPod keeps freezes all the time, Why?
The problem started early this year with my old iPod classic (couple years old) was beginning to freeze all the time so I just thought it was time to get a new one so I did but the same probably happened straight away and just just died after 2 weeks of constant resting so I got a brand new replacement and the same thing is happening to this one too, my question is why does this still happen and how to stop it?
You are still under warranty. Call Apple Care, get a case number and keep it handy.

Brand new iMac 21", freeze. Mouse movies, but does nothing
We just opened a brand new iMac 21" literally yesterday (purchased within the last three weeks). It was on for about an hour with no problems whatsoever. Then, while transferring photos to iPhoto, the system interface randomly froze. You can move the mouse around the screen, but it does nothing. You can't click anything. Hard resets/shutdowns result in the system rebooting back to the desktop like normal, but the mouse stays in this semi-frozen state. You can movie the pointer, but you can't actually interact with anything to fix the problem. Nothing brings it out of this state. We're not terribly experienced with Macs (new owner) and also snowed in to boot.
Has anybody encountered problems like this before? How do I fix this freeze?
Message was edited by: ThirdMarioBroMy suggestion with a new Mac that is having those problems is to take it back to the Apple Store and ask them to fix it. Beside allowing them to solve the problem that will also give them the chance to document the problem with your Mac just in case it should happen again.

i just bought this brand new imac but i am unable to use or download almost anything because it asks for a password. When we bought this computer there was already this password. We did not install it. Also just today we went to a shop to ask for the password n=but they said in it on the little book that tells us how to use the imac. I looked throught that book memorized it but still could not find the password...
Well i am able to go through things, and everything. I dont know quite what that means but you dont need to enter a password to download Adobe Flashplayer. I just did it. wasnt asked. Of course I know the password I set up when I got the computer new but I have never been asked when downloading. When it comes to installing........
If you are being asked BY YOUR MACHINE for a password you do not know it is NOT a new machine. -
I have had my brand new imac for less than a week, and it keeps freezing up at least 2 to 3 times a day while using Aperture 3 free trial or just using Safari. I have to shut it off completely using the power button. What should I do?
Shouldn't need to on a brand new machine, but try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them. Disk Utility's Disk Repair is not perfect and may not find or repair all directory issues. A stronger utility may be required to finish the job.
After that Repair Permissions.
No need to report Permissions errors....we all get them.
If that didn't help try a new post in the Intel-based iMac forum.
This forum is for the much older iMac G4's.

every time i want to delete photos in the trash . i phot just freezes up . a little annoying , there are not that many photos either . . i've tried iphoto manger promblem persists
If the machine is brand new (less than 90 days old) or if you have already bought AppleCare you should call them. You can call them M-Saturday during business hours for some help.
If neither apply please write a more descriptive post outlining exactly what you are trying to do and the steps you have taken so far. The way your current post is written its difficult to figure anything out. Please remember we're just volunteers here and we can't read your mind or see what you have done. -
Brand new 160 gig freezes itunes
I just got a brand new macbook pro along with a 160 gb ipod...everything was working fine and great but now every time i plug in my ipod it freezes itunes and will not respond. My ipod has 13707 songs on it and automatically updates to my itunes if that has anything to do with it
If it were me I would begin with:
1. Investigate the file of the song it gets stuck copying. Is there anything different about it?
2. Restore the software on the iPod (even though it's new and you shouldn't have to)
3. Re-install iTunes. If you backup everything located in the iTunes folder that is located within "Music" you shouldn't have to re-build your iTunes library - that is if all your music is located in that folder. -
Should I have hit the restore button in my itunes account when it promted me to when i plugged in my brand new 4s?
Well my wife and I got new 4s's today. we previously had the 3s. We share an itunes account so i just normally sync them both to the account. So when I plugged them in it promted me to restore to my phone. my phone did ok. On hers i changed her apple id and set her up a new account. So now their is a problem when i go to update apps. It puts in an old apple id i had before i changed it to my current one. i do not have this problem on my phone. only hers. when i go to the search part of the app store and scroll all the way to the bottom on her phone it shows that it is signed in under the correct apple id(the new one we set up). just strange. so when i put the passcode in it says it does not match.
so i may have messed up by hitting restore and i dont know how to get the phones back to before that happened without losing all of out pictures and contacts? -
My brand new iPad keeps freezing - any suggestions?
Just bought a new iPad, and after setting it up it tarted to freeze. having to reset it to get it going again. Works perfectly for a while but then freezes again.this has happened 6 times in the last 2 hours.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -
Brand new macbook pro freezing
I recently bought a new macbook pro for college, maybe in mid August. At first it was working fine, everything going okay, then it randomly began to freeze. If I was listening to music the music would get stuck repeating the same sound, the cursor would freeze, and the computer would become unresponsive. I haven't downloaded or done anything to the computer that would cause this kind of response.
This is one of the panic logs I got (It froze less than five minutes ago) this ones from a couple of days ago.

Brand new macbook pro freezing when on the internet and won't fix itself
Three times tonight I have been on the internet and out of nowhere my macbook pro has frozen. I am unable to move the mousepad or click on anything or click out of the applications. I have to power off the computer to make it work again. How can i fix this? I have only had the computer for 5 days and I am confused at how this is happening already.
Take it back and get a new unit. If they say "We Will Fix it' then Return it for FULL REFUND, you have 14 days from day of purchase to return it No Questions Asked, and then buy another New unit.
