Brand New 30 inch has major pixel issues

I hooked up my new 30 inch ACD yesterday. It was working fine until tonight. Now there are blue and green pixels all over the place. They are outlining every icon and window and distorting every picture and graphic.
I rebooted and changed display preferences. No luck.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks

Thanks-
I found a discussion where many folks were complaining about the same thing. One fix was to put the computer to sleep and wake it back up. That worked. odd. I hope I wont have to do this regularly.

  • Brand new 27-inch iMac Late 2013 repeatedly crashing with Mavericks

    Hi folks,
I have a brand new 27-inch Mac from late 2013 running OS X 10.9.1 (Mavericks) with:
    3.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    32 GB RAM
    3 TB Fusion drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
My system is hanging repeatedly, requiring a forced restart by holding down the power button - kernel panic I guess. Can't find a specific trigger, but I might be missing something.
I've tried reinstalling the OS, and a full erase and reinstall, but I'm still getting the problem. I've also run the hardware checker and verified the hard disc - all report the system is OK.
Annoyingly I can't startup in safe mode - think that's to do with having a 3TB Fusion drive.
Any suggestions? If I need to post a crash log can you let me know what bit is needed?
    Thanks for your help.
PS All the RAM was installed by Apple btw, so I don't think it's the mismatched voltage thing that others have had. Similarly, Google Drive is installed but not currently running.

  • Does brand new 24 inch Imac come with ilife 08 disc?

just bought a brand new 24 inch imac which had ilife 08 preloaded - but can't seem to find an install disc as backup anywhere. do these new machines come with installation disc?
if not, what do i do in the event of a hard drive crash?
    thanks

No wurries! iLife '08 is on the (Mid 2007) iMac install disks. Put Disk #1 in the DVD drive (no need to shut down OS-X), and click on "Read Before You Install.app".
If you just want to reload/recover a lost app, click on the "Install Bundled Software Only" icon, drill down to the "Installation Type" screen, and select "Customize," then expand the "Bundled Applications" thingie, and clear all the checkboxes -- except for the app(s) you want to (re)install. Then click "Update".

  • Brand new 11 inch Mac book air, having major difficulties

Hi, I've been told by 3 reps at an authorized Mac dealer and computer repair company what I needed to buy to back up my information. It's not working. I spoke to 2 people at Applecare who seemed to not know what they are talking about. The "Help" answers on the Mac itself do not work and one applecare tech sent me an article that failed to address the issues because it seems that I can only use fireware to transfer with migration assistant and the air doesn't have a firewire port. The Macbook air won't read my BRAND NEW Glyph external drive, nor will mogration assistant and I'd rather not drop and drop every bit of infobecause it won't emulate the way my old Mac looked and I may lose certain folders in say, Aplle Mail, Itunes, and iPhoto and it will an incredibly long time to remedy that. Through research of my own said I could transfer Mac to Mac with a USb Ethernet adapter, however Applecare says it's impossible without firewire ports. She also said that to use migration assistant I'd have to create a new user and login as the other user rather than the one I created when i turned on the new machine, which seems crazy to me. I have done nothing at all on the Macbook air yet except for turn it on an run set-up assistant--why is it impossible to use migration assistant on your current username when there's absolutely nothing on the new Air at this point and I'd like to keep my current user and profile. Any suggestions? Could desperately use the help since my former Mac could die any moment. They also said using wifi or airport will not work. Thank you all!
I addition, does anyone find the mac usb ethernet adapter useful after this initial transfer--if that even works? I'm not sure what it's useful for after my transfer. Haven't used ethernet in a zillion years.

I'll venture that your problem here is that you're using two very different versions of Mac OS X.  The USB adapter has been useful to me when making big downloads or while using other networks, but it might not be your case.
Here's what I would advise, though it may be less than stellar:  Copy the files you need into folders and move them through a USB flash drive or using that external hard drive of yours. (Could the format be the reason your MBA can't see it?). Some stuff like calendars and contacts can be exported too. At least in Lion, I haven't used Tiger in a while.
    Good luck.

  • New Macbook Pro 2011 MAJOR battery issues

I just bought a refurbished Macbook Pro, it was built on a couple of months ago so it is pretty much brand new.
    17 inch.
I'm having some battery issues. Yesterday I noticed that my charger (l-shaped) wouldn't light up -
it also wouldn't charge. After some fiddling around the light came on but in my menubar it read - "Not Charging".
Eventually I reset my smc or whatever it's called and now it is charging -
    but now,
    1) it won't charge to 100.
    2) at 97 percent it shows 7 hours 26 minutes left and then BAM!
it goes right down to about 3 and a half hours. And I'm not running anything but the internet.
    What the heck?!?!?!

You said " it is a problem with ALL current macbook pros. I did take it to an Apple store and the "Genius" confirmed this.".
It seems to me that the problem then should have been rectified at the Apple store and yout post is unnecessary.  If the matter has not been resolved I suggest that you go back to the Genius Bar and have them fix it.  No one here can do so.
Please understand that we are here by our own volition, we are volunteers, we don't get paid, and I would say that we make our best effort to help others based on our respective knowledge bases.  Points are welcome but I suspect thank you's are more so.

  • Brand New MacBook Pro and Display Adaptor Issue

Hello fellow Mac users, I've been a long-time Mac user and owner.
I just got a new MacBook Pro after using a 2006 model for 2 years and am having a display adapter issue that I need help and advice with:
The new MacBook Pro has the mini DVI display connector, my non-Apple external display is does not support the mini DVI, no problem there, I bought the display adaptor...
Except that it doesn't fit the adaptor that fit the 2006 MacBook Pro.
    Please See Image at Link:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/sdjOcw1jrddqtAfjAU0Trw?feat=directlink
File comment: This is the adaptor that connected my 2006 MacBook Pro to the the display. It changes the connection from the Mac's DVI to fit the VGA connection of my display. There are the four extra pins around the flat pin to the left of the connector.
Somehow the male end of the mini DVI to the full-size DVI adaptor doesn't fit the female end of the full-size DVI to VGA adaptor! Please see the images. It seems a few extra pins prevent the connection!
    Please See Image at Link:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/4bG788QVKGCOIJUkzHcjKg?feat=directlink
Comment: This is where the problems begin. The flat portion lacks the four holes needed for the DVI to VGA adaptor to connect.
Is it possible to just remove the four offending pins in the Full Size DVI to VGA Male End?
Any help or suggestions highly appreciated, because as of now, my brand new MacBook Pro is less useful than the 2006 model, which can connect to my external display.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi Rob with a Mac and welcome to the boards.
My suggestion would be that you simply take the adaptor back and get a mini-display port to VGA adaptor instead.
I ran into a similar problem myself recently when I wanted to connect my own MBP13 to an overhead projector. I had assumed that I could use the mini display to DVI adaptor that I use for the DVI capable external monitor with my new MacBook, combined with a DVI to VGA adaptor that I had for my 2007 MBP, connected to a VGA cable to do the job, but this is not possible.
MiniDisplay to VGA adaptors for the newer MBPs are readily available at Apple dealers or through the online store and not too expensive.
    Cheers
    Rod

  • Brand new to Mac and having some issues with my MBP mid 2012

I am hoping someone can offer some advice to me, I am about ready to tear my hair out. I bought a mid 2012 MBP from best buy open box for $2000, it is the model with the 750gig hard drive and 8 gigs of ram. I has Mountain Lion on it and I have done all the software upgrades. I do not have a lot of software installed on it but it does not seem to be running right. I have had it about  three weeks or a month and it appeared to be running okay most of the time.
I tried putting parallels 8 on it so I could run some of my windows apps and I installed windows 8 and nothing else and it brought the laptop to a stand still it was crawling so slow I unistalled the software. The past few days I have noticed that when I open the lid and it wakes from sleep the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive for upto a minute.
However today has been the worse by far. I am trying to copy some files about 300 gigs worth from a external drive to my hard drive so I can reformat the drive and while it is copying I am not able to do anything, surf the web, use word or anything because anything I try to do locks the computer up for several minutes or I have to force quit. The voice dictation feature no longer works when I press fn twice, nothing happens at all.
Is this normal, I mean I am very disappointed that a $2000 computer cant copy some files and surf the internet or type a word doc at the same time. Do I have a bad mac or am I expecting to much????? I am a therapist and use this laptop to take and store all my client notes I bought a mac because I need something dependable and reliable.
If this is not normal what do you suggest?

That would be your best bet. There is a reason someone returned it. Most people that buy a Mac, except me, never return them. Even if they don't run right. So for someone to return that unit they either didn't care for Mac OS X (that is why I return the first 2 I had) or there was something very wrong with it.
    scampbell70 wrote:
That is what I am thinking as well Shootist007. I am a best buy silver reward member and I have 60 days instead of 30 on all returns and I am thinking I may return it, pay the extra $200 and get a brand new one.

  • Brand new iMac 27 has no sound

A buddy just got a brand new iMac 27, out the box last night. It has no sound.
He went to Systems Preferences and the Sound page provides no solution. Nothing can be clicked.
I know the solution is probably insanely simple, but cannot figure it out.
    Help please.

The simple solution is take it back to Apple and ask them to fix it.

  • Iweb 08 has major stability issues

So, my last post was deleted when I talked about how disapointing iweb 08 was. I don't think I was over the top or saying anything that was untrue.
This software has major stability problems. I have seen other posts that confirm this. I cannot publish because it crashes on publishing. And worse, after the crash my system does not fully recover without a restart. tiger becomes sluggish.
Also, the enormouse amount of resources this program takes up is no better then 1.0

Gah, thought I had this problem down because I hadn't seen it in a day or two but I just had a crash again. Let me describe what happens:
So seemingly out of nowhere, as in I've been doing the same tasks for a few hours and then this happens, the computer locks up. First the wireless gives me no incoming or outgoing traffic. I'm still connected to the network at school, but nothing is happening. When I go look at the network stats on the iStat dashboard widget, there's nothing going on. Then if I move the cursor up to the menu bar, near the airport icon but sometimes near others as well, the beachball shows up. Not anywhere else on screen, just there. So I try to open activity monitor to see what's hanging. First I try it via Quicksilver, which subsequently gives me the beachball as well, and then by clicking on the activity monitor button on the iStat widget. Thats when the whole computer freezes up. I can move my mouse around and click on things, but nothing happens.
Background. I just performed the 10.6.2 combo update yesterday, so maybe that has to do with it, but i was on 10.6.2 since it came out and this problem only started about a week ago. I was just thinking that maybe it has to do with the newer version of quicksilver that I installed. That's the only thing that I think i've changed recently. I'll try and pull the old version out of a time machine backup later. I just checked the console and couldn't find anything that looked "scary" but that doesn't really mean anything. Could you tell me what i'm supposed to be looking for?
oh and @baltwo: it wasn't the forum formatting software that messed up your link, you added a - and then some other words directly after the link so it thought that those were part of the link as well. Well maybe it is the software, i dont know how you put the link into your post, but just don't attach words to your links. Leave a space or something.

  • Brand new mac pro has blank screen on start up...why? Can here instructions but can't see

I hae a brand new mac pro and the screen is blank during start up. ***...I can here instructions but can't see screen.

That Mac comes with 90 days free phone support from trained Applecare reps. You should take advantage of it.
Another alternative is to make an appointment at the Genius Bar and have them put their hands on it.
Be sure you do something before your 14-day return/exchange (if you bought it direct from Apple) expires, or you may face a 3 to 5 day repair cycle.
Shine a bright light at the screen when it has booted up.
¿ Is the picture "there" but not lit up?   that could be a backlight failure.
The F2 key is used to turn up the brightness, if it accidentally got turned down low.

  • My brand new iPhone 5 has gone totally looney. Voice control won't come off, it won't reset. It is not functioning

My iPhone 5 is brand new. We set the voice control function and now it won't allow metro disable. I can't get my password entered. It has sent the phone totally looney and it is totally dysfunctional. I don't know what to do

Voice control? Why not enable Siri? She's much less annoying. But also, about the reset thing. My friend's iPod Touch had a password accidentally set on it and when I tried putting it in recovery mode to reset it, the process would always get canceled midway. I thought that iPod was as hopeless as your iPhone, but when I took it to an Apple retail store, they somehow did it all in two minutes when I waited hours at a time to reset it myself. The employee also said I would lose all of my data, but somehow I did not. Obviously none of this will be helpful if you do not live near a retail store, so I guess you can try recovery mode if you haven't already. You can look up how to do this online. Hope I have you at least one piece of useful advice here. Good luck!
 Thank you for choosing Apple.

  • Two Macbooks, same spec, yet one has major connectivity issues

    Hi,
I have two (old - 2006) macbooks, bought at exactly the same time, exactly the same spec, probably off the same factory line. Yet one has serious Airport issues which are proving very difficult.
It will pick up a maximum of one wireless network, which it barely is able to connect to. There are 3 wireless networks in this house yet it only picks up the nearest one. The other macbook can pick up at least 15 other networks despite being exactly the same spec and on the desk next to it.
Even when it connects to my network, connections are frequently dropped - over 50% packet loss generally.
Both are running the same OS and are exactly the same spec. I have tried resetting the PRAM, deleting the airport prefs, resetting the SMC; you name it I've tried it. I noticed that this is quite a common issue with Snow Leopard + Airport, but I am now thinking it could be a faulty Airport card. Could this be the case?

You already mentioned that you thought that "it could be a faulty AirPort card". I agreed and offered another possibility as well.
Whether or not you are using Snow Leopard, if you have a faulty wireless card or a faulty antenna connector, you will most certainly have major connectivity issues.
You've already performed all the standard troubleshooting steps and mentioned that you felt it may be a hardware issue.
If you have changed your mind and feel that it's a Snow Leopard issue, (logic would dictate that it would have also affected your other identical computer the same way) you have the option of reinstalling the operating system to see if that might help.
