BRAND New Computer Problems...

I just received my MacBook Pro today. I started mine up and the screen was really dim. I shut it down and now it won't start up again. Can anyone help?!?! :[

After looking at the computer screen with a bright light, it seems as if my computer is on..just that the screen is not lighting up. PLEASE SEE MY NEXT POST!! :[

For some reason, I can not delete bookmarks. I did one at a time, then tried 5 or 6 and it worked once then no more. I then tried 1 at a time and it worked once the no more. This is a brand new computer (Win7) and FF just loaded about 3 hours ago.

This is a brand new computer (Win7) and FF just loaded about 3 hours ago. Do not know how the bookmarks even got in there. Some were ok, but no order and some that were never bookmarks. Looks like FF tried to import some BM's from the Virtual XP installed, but did not get it any where near right. I need to completely delete all of them and install from a saved .html file.

Well, I did not see the exact problem that I was having listed in the articles, BUT the problem is solved for now.
I opened FF and the Bookmarks to Organize again. I deleted all of the folders and entries, ONE AT A TIME, AND IT WORKED. Evidently, for what ever reason, FF did not like "Batch" deletes of ANY amount greater than 1 and the HANG UP would occur.
Deleting one at a time then importing the good .html from a good file, loaded the wanted Bookmarks. Yea

Can someones can help me? My computer is brand new. I've just received it yesterday from Lenovo. Lenovo T540p with Win7Pro + i7 core + 8Gb ram. Yesterday I've completed all my update from Windows Update. I did not make any hardware install on the
computer except that I use an external USB HDD and an external logitech wireless mouse. For these two devide, I use the built-in windows driver. Nothing happens yesterday When I've used it. The problem occurs only tonight.

Hi all,Thanks for your reply. I've got an update. the many BSOD (all with different problem) was due to a RAM Problem that was intermitent. The Ram module was not installed properly. I correct the installation and everything goes fine after that. Thanks

According to the dump file, most of BSOD code is different. However, according to one of dump file, BSOD caused by norton sys file.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\NortonData\21.3.0.12\Definitions\VirusDefs\20140904.001\EX64.SYS
According to my experience, your system crash events most probably caued by Norton application and you can try to disable or uninstall it temporarilly for test.
If BOSD problem disappeared, it should be Norton problem. If problem still exists, please provide new dump file to us.

Why, if it told you you have insufficient space on your computer, would it suggest making more space available on your phone?
At a guess, you have insufficient space on your phone. Installing software will typically require more space than the final size of the software, perhaps even twice or three times as much, for the installation process. You can easily dump some videos or music temporarily, and then synch them back in afterwards.

I downloaded Lion on my iMac. It apparently cleaned out the hard drive. Nothing shows up from before. It looks like a brand new computer. It is backed up on Time machine. Any idea of why this happened and suggestions on restoring? Thanks.

I downloaded Lion on my 4 yr old iMac. The download stalled at the last minute so I clicked "CANCEL". When it was restarted, Lion was there, with no apparent option but to go ahead and install so I assumed it was okay. I cannot find this 300GB "Backup" in the Finder, only in the Storage info when I check "About This Mac".
You are probably using Time Machine to backup your MacBook Pro, right? Then the additional 300 GB could be local Time Machine snapshots. Time Machine will write the hourly backups to the free space on your hard disk, if the backup drive is temporarily not connected. You do not see these local backups in the Finder, and MacOS will delete them, when you make a regular backup to Time Machine, or when you need the space for other data.

I have restarted my computer, but the information remains the same. How do I reclaim the use of the 300GB? Why is it showing up as "Backups" when it used to indicate "Photos"? Are my photos safe on the external drive?
You have tested the library on the external drive, and so your photos are save there.
The local TimeMachine snapshot probably now contains a backup of the moved library. Try, if connecting your Time Machine drive will reduce the size of your local Time Machine snapshots.

Now remove all your info and update the old AppleiD/iTunes account and use only that account.
You cannot transfer items between iTunes accounts.
You can redownload all the content.

Might be worth tearing down the whole iTunes install and starting over...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Slow brand new computer

Hello I recently bought A HP all in one 23 p111 desktop . I have the comp hard wired to the innernet modeum as well and internet speed test is very fast and my wife mac is going lightning fast ! My computer is slow!!!!! moving from page to page is slow looking anything on internet is slow as well . I am quite low-tech but dontunderstand how this brand new computer works like a commadore lol. I paid good money and am very displeased , ive had it for two weeks . thank you ,

Hello,
Well first go to task manager (right click on taskbar) and check how many processes are running in the background. If theres too many delete the ones you don't need as it takes up your ram.
Another thing is to get a program like AVG Tuneup to try make the computer more faster as there might be issues but I highly doubt that.
Last thing to do is consider replacing your processor as yours is 2 .0 ghz.
I suggest going to around 2.5 ghz - 3.0 ghz or more as your computer would be super fast for a couple of years.

I have a lenovo X120e, purchased it around 2 months ago but due to moving across the country just started using it, not so happy so far but I would be happier if it would speed up a bit. Alternatively, try HD Tune's error scan and check it's SMART page for warnings.

Do you have all of your content in that computer's iTunes library ? There are some instructions on this page for syncing to a new computer : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
And if you have music on your device that wasn't purchased from iTunes and you don't have a copy of it on your new computer's iTunes then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy it back (iTunes will only copy iTunes downloads back from a device) : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device

Unable to install itunes 9 on brand new computer

Hello I have a brand new compter and I'm trying to install itunes. Each time I get the following message: "This application could not be open. Verify the package exists and that you have access to it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package"
I have read some post with similar problems and I have installed the Windows Install Clean Up - however there is aren't Apple applications on my computer so there is nothing for the Install to Clean up.
Can you please assist me with loading either itunes 9 or an older version of itunes. I have Windows XP

Hmmm. The installer packages may be getting damaged during the download with that message.
Do you have any better luck downloading a working installer if you use Firefox instead of IE (or vice versa)?

ITunes 64-bit is killing my brand new computer!

Ok ... this started about a week ago when I purchased a dvd with a free digital copy from iTunes. I was psyched and rushed home to download it onto my computer. When I tried to play it back, the video and audio did not sync. The audio would continue to run, but the video would stick and jump around. I have a brand new laptop that is less than a month old, so I know it is completely capable of running the newest iTunes ... in fact, it doesn't give me another option. I have to run the 64-bit version.
Anyway, I contacted the "support" people and after ten exchanged emails, I was given the advice to go to an Apple store and pay to have someone look at the problem. It was insinuated by the person "helping" me that it was something I had done wrong. I needed to update my Quicktime and iTunes, I needed to make sure my operating system could handle the file, I needed to turn off all of the start-up programs on my computer. I did everything they said to do and still nothing.
Now, not only will the movie not play, but purchased videos from iTunes won't play ... at all. No video, no audio, no nothing. And yes, I am also having the problem with songs skipping. I hate iTunes 64-bit and want nothing to do with it! Has anyone else encountered these problems? Has anyone fixed these problems? I really need someones' help who might actually be able to give me decent advice.

*One more observation concerning iTunes 64-bit ... I have noticed that when running the program, if I have anything else running at the same time it drastically slows down my computer, to the point where even typing in a Word document is impossible. Websites take forever to download and even iTunes doesn't respond properly; album artwork not showing up, taking forever to respond to simple commands such as pause, and even not closing properly.

I downloaded itunes on a brand new computer with windows 8. it says it cant read my libarary because it was created on a new program

I recently purchased a new computer that has Windows 8. I downloaded the current version of windows (11.1 I believe). When I try to open itunes, the error message says the itunes library can't be opened because it was created with a new version. How do I get my library to sync to the new computer? I tried transferring the library from an older computer to the new on by copying the file to a flash drive and pasting it to the music library. It shows up but does not open and gives me the same message. I looked online for answers but did not find any that solved the problem. I tried downloading an older version of itunes but that did not work either. HELP!

Brand new Mac user with a brand new Mac problem!

Hi Everyone --
I am a brand new Mac user... I've only had my MacBook Pro 13" for three days. My Mac has been continuously freezing while I use it. When it freezes I only have safari running so I know its not from application "overload". Once frozen, I cannot move the mouse, "esc" or use any commands. Essentially my only option is to force it to shut down by holding the power buttong down. Please let me know if anyone has any idea how to fix this! With school coming up I cannot afford for my computer to be freezing every 20 minutes!

Well... I'd still take it back - let them know that you received it as a gift three days ago. They may still replace it for you or they may take it in for repair. Just be nice and explain that you don't expect a new MBP to function as it is (or malfunction) and let them, at least, run diagnostics on it. As it's so new, there may be something simple that they can fix as you wait. Did your boyfriend already register the machine with Apple or did you? They may take the registration date into account...
But I'd take it to the Apple Store, regardless...
