Brand New Dv7-6c90 Fingerprint reader isn't working...

I bought a new Dv7 brought it home and the fingerprint reader was working fine, up until i started installing software and rebooted my system now when i navigate to my biometric devices from the control panel it gives me this message "Windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer. You might need to attach your device or install device drivers." Yet under my Device Manager the fingerprint reader is detected and working properly, the drivers can't be updated anymore, neither can the software. I eventually concluded that it was a hardware problem and I exchanged it for another, but the exact samething happened when i got home...any ideas to what the problem may be??

Enjoying windows 7 in complete silence. If anyone wants to advise downloading a driver then fantastic, but give us a clue where it is hidden.

I recently upgraded from Windows Vista Business to Windows 7 Ultimate and my Base System Device and Fingerprint Reader isn't working. Are you not able to start aperture on your old macbook? If you are able to then you can retrieve your serial number by clicking on 'about aperture'
If not then it's a call to apple as the above posts suggest. I did when I lost mine, bear in mind though, they may ask for your original receipt as they did with me and I had to fax it.

The head phone jack on my brand new iPod touch 5th generation is not working properly

The head phone jack on my brand new iPod touch 5th generation is not working properly. It has sound without the headphones in but when I plug them in it has no sound, it's low, or poppy. I had only used my apple supplied headphones once before and it worked fine. I know it's not the headphones because I tried them on my girlfriends phone and they worked fine.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

Refurbed DV7 Laptop - Fingerprint reader dead

Hi All,
I know there have been a few posts on dodgy fingerprint reader issues, but this one is different to any of the other posts I've been able to find on here (/anywhere else on the web).
The fingerprint reader doesn't seem to exist other than physically on the laptop base! It doesn't show when running Simplepass (2012/Validity edition) or bootup, there's nothing related or unknown/erroneous showing in the device manager and under Biometric Devices it says there are none detected or 'may be in use by other programs', but I'm guessing it's the former, not the latter.
I've got the Pavilion DV7-6154ea which was an as-new refurb that I got last week.
It's running Win 7 64 bit and has literally nothing done to it since I got it, other than the standard start up procedures and running though all the essential Windows updates, however this problem has been around before and since installing the updates, so it's unrelated to that.
My guess is that when it was refurbed they didn't reconnect the reader, but I'm reluctant to start tinkering with the innards of my shiny new laptop, even though I am confident/experienced enough that I could should I have to and even had confirmed from PC World, who hold the warranty, that this wouldn't invalidate it (there's a long story as to why they aren't covering this repair for me!) But hopefully it won't need invasive surgery and a few software pills will do the trick.

Brand New iMac unable to read data DVD or eject it.

Hello all,
I'm no good with technology so please bear with me.
I just purchased a brand new iMac a couple of weeks ago, and I'm attempting to run a Data DVD that I got for an online university class.
When put in to the disc drive, one of two things happens:
1) It fails to recognize that there is a DVD in it.
2) It eventually recognizes it (about 5 mins), but then shows nothing on the disc.
after that it is nearly impossible to eject the disc without rebooting the computer or pushing eject a million times and waiting 10 minutes.
Assuming the disc is good (the rest of them are, but I'm getting a replacement just in case), what else can I do?

If it just does it with the one disc the disc is likely bad. Get a replacement disc.
If it does it with multiple discs the drive may be faulty. With a new Mac I'd take it back to the store.

Brand new Macbook slow to read data DVD's

I jsut got a new macbook today and am installing over 100GB of music software and samples. It is taking forever as you might imagine, but I must say that it is running markedly slower that my 24" iMac, which is totally strange because the have the same exact drive.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there a setting that I could change to optimize my drive speed?? Such as unchecking the box that says "Go very slow?"
I'm not trying to whine. I just find it completely odd that the same drive is taking 3-4 times longer to to the same amount of work in my macbook.
If anybody has any ideas that would be great, thanks!

I have the same odd issue. My "old" MacBook Pro takes about 5-6 hours to install Logic Studio while my brand new iMac takes around a HUGE 12 hours to install the whole thing. Once installed it's fine and fast, but the install is painfully slow.
I still find that 5-6 hours is slow but I a realize that there is around 60Gb to install...
I am almost certain that it all relates to some problems with the not so Super "Super Drives" as there is almost no I/O activity or CPU while the audio files are extracted.

X240 fingerprint reader does not work after standby or lockscreen

Hello all,
I have a new X240, and the fingerprint logon no longer works after the computer resumes from standby or from a lockscreen (screen saver). I have checked other solutions here and in other sites, namely:
1. unchecking the power option of the fp reader in device manager,
2. and switching the 30-day standby in Lenovo Settings
Neither of those solutions have worked. I have the latest BIOS and FP driver versions. I made sure the the FP was enabled in BIOS, and I even switched the settings to allow internal FP reader only. Still, the FP will only work when I first power on the laptop, but not after resuming from stand-by. I have checked in Device Manager after manually entering the password, and it says that the FP is working properly.
I am at a loss, and I want to exhaust every possibility before I call tech suppport. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Fixed.
I normally use System Update to check for newer versions of Lenovo software. SU didn't catch that there was a new version of FP reader. Just to be sure, I doublechecked on Lenovo's website, and lo and behold, there was a newer version of the FP reader. I had to download it and manually uninstall the previous version. It's fine now. However, I don't understand why Lenovo does this - why does SU not catch updates? It's not the first time that this happens, by the way, nor is it limited to this laptop (I own or have owned a T60, X61, X200, X201, X230, T410, and now the X240).
In any event, the FP is working properly now. I hope this helps someone else.

Erratic mouse on brand new Air - tried other advise still not working

I have a brand new MacBook Air which has worked fine for last 48 hours - but thsi morning I have the erratic behaviour seen in others posts. I have followed advise posted by Linc Davis in other posts - but no luck .. I have a wonderful new Air which is unusualable !! .. really not used to this with Macs, thats why I stopped using Windoze!!

Your MBP is under warranty, bring the MBA to be fixed at an Apple store genius bar. Also if you purchased it from Apple and are within 14 days from the purchase date you can have it exchanged.

Brand new ipod-touch internal speaker suddenly stopped working all-together? Please help!

Just got my brand new, white Ipod- Touch and was surfing on youtube, watched a video and mid video the sound just vanished. now no sounds come from the internal speaker whatsoever, but headphones still work. I have tried restarting it as well as reseting, can anyone help me?! Thanks a lot!

That sounds like a mechanical problem. You might want to insert and remove the headphone plug several times and see if it fixed the issue. If it does not, call Apple. 800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada.

So my iPhone 6 fingerprint reader stopped working. When i try to enable it it just says: "Failed, please try again later". I've tryed to update to iOS 8.3 but that fails too. What should i do? I recently fixed my cracked screen if that has something to do with it.

I have the same problem as the original poster, and followed the download link you provided only to encounter the exact same issue. I am using Windows 7 and bought this machine two days ago. I don't understand why this singular process is this problematic. I really miss my ASUS K53E and it's face logon feature.
Perhaps HP should take lessons unless they have something better than this "fingerprint reader." The only consistent feature I am detecting is its inconsistancy. Oh well, I just won't bother using it, or put a sticker over the thing.
If I have to spend more than an hour troubleshooting a feature of medium to low importance then it was a mistake to purchase the machine (but it was a gift sadly), and it was a mistake to implement the feature and release it without making sure it works. Pretty weak HP, but not as bad as Toshiba or Gateway/Acer at least--not that it says much.
Anyone have a legit fix for this annoying issue? Or some third party facial recognition login program instead?
