Brand new Hp desktop running slow
I just purchased a new HP desktop computer (HP 110-210). AMD quad-core a4 accelerated processor, 4GB memory, 500GB hard drive. The computer has disapointed me because it is far more slower than my 4 year old HP laptop. Files take awhile to load, google chrome fails to open sometimes. Overall, the computer is just not as fast as I expected it to be, and honestly, I would consider it to be slow.
One concern that I had when I purchased it was that it was the floor model (purchased at a discount of course), meaning customers could use it as a test computer. Although the one I purchased was turned off and not available for use at that time, I would assume it was used as a display computer at one time. The manager did "reset the computer to factory settings" before packaging it up. I am currently running a virus scan on mcafee, 36% complete and so far it has found 1 virus. Wondering if there is any more steps I should take to speed this computer up before I take it back to the store for a refund?

Brand new computer is super slow and makes a clicking noise
My brand new computer is super slow and makes a clicking noise. Any suggestions? I have a lenovo X120e, purchased it around 2 months ago but due to moving across the country just started using it, not so happy so far but I would be happier if it would speed up a bit. Every click takes a while to register especially during browsing on the internet.
Can you run the ThinkVantage Toolbox's HDD diagnostics?
Alternatively, try HD Tune's error scan and check it's SMART page for warnings.

Brand new macbook very very slow -- etrecheck help!
My brand new macbook pro is just annoyingly slow. lots of spinning rainbow wheel, eternally bouncing icons, uselessly slow search thing. i ran an etrecheck but have no idea what it means. i'm reluctant to go to the genius bar. this is a replacement macbook after the last one i bought required 5 trips to apple store in a month (maybe 12 hours total?) for a variety of problems. i just want this one to work at least half as well as the August 2008 macbook that it replaced... any help would be so appreciated.
Problem description:
brand new macbook is exceptionally slow… maybe a yosemite problem?

My brand new Mac Pro running Mountain Lion crashes when installing updates or new software.
My brand new Mac Pro running Mountain Lion crashes and re-boots when installing updates or new software. I can only perform these operations while in the safe boot mode. I have reloaded OSX twice. Does not solve the problem. The machine is brand new. It replaced a previous MacPro that would not support the new Mountain Lion. When my new machine came in. I swaped the dirve out of my old unit into the new and ran the new Lion update. The machine has had this aforementioned problem since that time. Also, I had the Legacy version of File Vault running on the old machine/drive, which I also turned off(thinking that was the problem) but that did not fix the problem either.

New Macbook Pro running slow?
I just got a brand new Macbook pro little over a month ago and it has been working great. I installed OS X Lion a day after the initial release date and have been thrilled with it so far. It was able to load 1080p HD YouTube videos great, which my old desktop PC would never have been able to do, but within the last week I haven't even been able to load 360p videos without pausing and letting it buffer for a minute or so before watching something. The internet is fine. The signal is strong and the speed hasn't changed on any other internet device in the house. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Any suggestions? Let me know if you need more info.
Thanksusuallly sometimes when many people are using the internet in the house then the internet starts to get slower even when it shows full connection. and if you download too many things then the mac starts to get slow. try doing these things when no one else is using the internet connection

Why is my new macbook pro running slow?
I bought a new macbook pro in october 2012. It has always run very fast without a problem.
Yesterday i noticed when i opened up apps the app symbol would bounce in the dock for a good 20 - 30 seconds and i would get the spinning beachball icon. I have repaired disk and disk permissions but this has not helped. I havnt downloaded any new apps or anything and my virus software says there is no virus.
Please help???????I am also so dsappointed of buying macbook pro for the first time, and to think it was just almost a month ago....I am worried about the over heating issue, battery span that never lasprot that long as what the advertisement says...I really take extra care of this gadget because it is my first time having this so expenssive lappy...Ooohhh before I forget,my gadget is Macbook Pro 13 with memory of 8gb 1600 MHz DDR3..processor 2.9GHz Intel core I7...the only heave application tha I downloaded was the Mountain Lion I think ,and it was updated now from 10.8.1 - 10.8.2 ..maybe the next heavy app is the google chrome...and the rest is those apps that I bought from the Apple store that didnt cost me $10...before buying this unit ,I am using a lappy from Gateway with windows OS that runs slowly because of maybe being so old...lol I am using it for almost 3yrs because I only bought it from a junk shop alternately with Dell desktop thats so cheap,I only bought it almost $200 from a junkshop still.now after learning to fix and upgrade computers,I upgraded the DELL desktop from 1GB to 2GB,but I upraded my hardrive from 80gb to 1000gb...now I did test booting the 2,the desktop and this new Macbook Pro.my dell really boot so fast half more than this macbook pro...when I am downloading videos, really the Dell desktop have the fastest loading and downloading...I am not kidding and telling lies...I am so shock to know the real truth....I am sorry, but i is really true...But I promise my self to take care of this gadget because its my first time to have a genuinely brand new gadget and so expenssive...if no one believe this, i will upload a video on my youtube accnt just to prove that I am not telling a lie...oooh before I forget...just to prove that this gadget is geguine and new, here is the Serial Number of my Macbook Pro 13 which I posses almost a month now.. Serial Number C0******DTY4

Why did iOS 5 make my brand new iPod Touch so slow?
Recently downloaded the new iOS which, by the way, took nearly an entire night due to connection failure with host. Since then my iPod has been almost glitchy. I keep my apps pretty clean. I don't have a lot. And when I'm done with one I close it with the hold+home and "x" it down. However, still the new iOS runs slow. Will there be a new release coming soon with some bug fixes?
You may want to try a few things to try and deduce the problem:
1. back up your iPod touch with iTunes
2. remove an app that you suspect may be large or makes heavy use of background work (some apps may use the network a lot via the background scheduling services of iOS)
3. reboot, then repeat 2 until the problem disappears (you can blame the last app that you removed!)
4. if the problem does not disappear, try a restore to factory settings.
The iPod touch has limited working memory (half, in fact) compared to an iPhone 4(S) or iPad 2. While iOS should be able to handle these memory conditions gracefully, it also depends on how well apps respond to shutting down when iOS tells them to. Stubborn or rather large apps can cause the performance of your iPod to degrade momentarily until memory congestion settles.

Since installing Lion my desktop runs slow...
My desktop runs very slow from one application to another.. for example if I am switching back from Photo Shop to iMovie or iTunes the idling is too long and sometimes apllication like photoShop crash... I have 4 GB of Ram Intel 2.0 ghz Need help please.
Based upon the scant information you gave regarding your Mac I would have choosen not to install Lion but remain with Snow Leopard.

Can I install OS9 on a Brand new iMac to run Photoshop 6.0.1?
Hi there;
Today I purchased a brand new iMac. I have been installing my old applications and found that I cannot install Photoshop 6.0.1. The following is the message shown:
"You cannot open the application "Install Adobe Photoshop 6.0.1" because it is not supported on this system"
My old iMac is a G3 and runs on a Panther. Can I install Mac OS 9 on this new Mac so that I can install Photoshop 6.0.1? If yes, how can I do it?
Regards.Hi KP4ABC;
Since the official position of Adobe is that they are no longer supporting PS 7 at all, I would think your chances with PS 6 are right up there with the snowball in that hot place. In order to get anything that works with any reliability you will have to upgrade, probably to PS CS3.
I have to say that PS CS3 is a significant upgrade over PS 7 which is as far back as I go with Photoshop.

New G5 Quad running slow in general
My computer is very new...and it has been running slowly (the rainbow circle appears quite often) from day 1. It's not specific to any one program, and it happens when I am searching the web too. I bought and installed Disk Warrior, but I don't really understand the program. Why would such a kick-butt, new computer run slow?
Advice appreciatedYou might want to post this in the Using your Power Mac G5 section, which is
the right section for your computer.
In the menatime, how have you used Disk Warrior ? How
long have you been using your computer ? Do you have
a lot of important files on it ?
There are things you might want to try before taking
measures such as running DW. Yasu is a nice and easy-to-use
maintenance/troubleshooting utility which will clear
cache files and font caches that might have become
corrupted and could slow the computer down, as well
as clearing logs, etc.
thanks. -
Mavericks on brand new iMac is very slow
I have a brand new iMac with the basic configuration and the latest version of Mavericks. I use iLife, iWork, Photoshop, Office, Dropbox and Mailplane as the main programs but it is very slow. I did not restore from a Time Machine backup and installed all programs and files separately but I often get the beachball and the computer is often very slow, it also takes a while to start up. Is there any way to see what is slowing everything down?
When I look at the activity monitor there are hundreds of processes but kernel_task always seems to be using 700mb+.
Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.Hi, thanks for helping. Here are the results from your program.
In response to the other poster's question the beachball happens with iMOvie, iPhoto, Mailplane and photoshop.
Thanks..---

Why does the new version FireFox run slower than the old one?
I have a fairly new computer but Firefox runs slower than the older version. Can this be remedied?
That does not sound right. I recommend rebuilding your VI. Beore you do, open the top level VI and press contol-shift-run arrow to perform a manual binary recompile. This makes LabVIEW recompile the whole code. Most times you will not see anything happen but occasionally an error will surface. Be sure to save the VI then rebuild it.
You may also need to reinstall the LabVIEW run time engine and/or LabVIEW. I would start with the run time engine first. -
Brand new n82 boots up slow?
My brand new out of box black n82 takes an average of 25 to 30 seconds to boot up, while most people report their n82 boot up in 13 seconds. Is there a problem with my phone?
Solved!
Go to Solution. My N82 takes about 25-30 seconds now. It used to boot slightly quicker on v11 or v10 firmware (about 20 seconds).
Still 25 seconds if good for a smartphone.
Installing programs and themes on the memory card can slow down the time it takes to boot so install them into phone memory.

New G5 Quad running slow...why?
My computer is very new...and it has been running slowly (the rainbow circle appears quite often) from day 1. It's not specific to any one program, and it happens when I am searching the web too. I bought and installed Disk Warrior, but I don't really understand the program. Why would such a kick-butt, new computer run slow?
Advice appreciateddanabell,
Apple sells a sort of bare bones computer and it takes a bit more money and knowledge to leverage it's full capabilites.
Disk Warrior will not give you much of any performance benefit, in fact at your current learning curve I don't recommend you using it or much of anything else.
What you need is someone who a Mac mechanic, that can trick out your Quad with more RAM, faster hard drives etc., much like a car mechanic. They can also take a look how and what your using that Quad for and best tailor a backup and software utilization method so your getting the most out of that beast and protecting your data from loss.
You have a Quad processor machine, it's potentially very powerful provided the other requirements of the computer are met. Especially more RAM, then faster video cards and hard drives.
Only someone who can observe what your using this for can tailor your machine, that's why Apple sells a bare box at the Apple Stores, because so many people's needs are different that tricking out each machine would set the average price well over $5000.
Now you can take the machine back to a Apple Store and they can install RAM for you, but they charge so much it's insane. You'll do better having someone install it for you and buy it off a website like Crucial.com and save hundreds of dollars.
If you don't know anyone nearby that can help you with your Mac, you can search Apple's main page for "Mac User Group" and by finding a local group they most likely can help you.
Good luck, I wish i had that Quad, I know what I would be doing with it. -
NEW macbook pro running slow ~ i hate the rainbow pinwheel
i have a two-week old MacBook Pro.
it has been running slow ever since I got it.
the apple genius bar guy pulled up my activity monitor and said it was normal.
how can a constant rainbow pinwheel be normal???
because i use it for business, i had to download Outlook and now i can barely get anything to run without the stupid rainbow pinwheel.
it has 4GB or memory. do I need to add another 4GB or is there something else I can do?
i can't believe how this "powerful machine" feels like i'm trudging in the mud.
thanks for your help.Ok, so I'm pretty new to this and want to make sure I answer each of your questions.
Right now, my computer is behaving (of course)... so I might need to do this again when I've got a pinwheel or beach ball or whatever they call that spinning rainbow torture device. So, the numbers below reflect my computer without the pinwheel (probably not helpful for troubleshooting)....
What is it, and what is the process? ~ Outlook 20.6%
