Brand new Iphone 4 32gb - coma issue

I have brand new Iphone 4 32GB without carrier bundle,
Phone software version 4.0.2 (version shipped with the phone)
The only use of the phone was installing like 7 apps (no cellular use yet).
Occasionally I try to open the phone and it wont turn on,
I noticed that if I click the home button it takes about 30-40 seconds for the phone to display the "unlock slider", Sometimes it will turn on instantly with no problem, the battery is 80%,
I live abroad so if its a software problem i will just wait for 4.1,
Can someone confirm if its hardware/software issue?

Don't know, if it helps, but one workaround/solution for this weird issue seems to be simply leaving the iPhone alone for a couple of days in order to let it fully discharge the battery - at least for me ...
I did that unintentionally while waiting for the weekend to bring it back to the seller.
Out of curiosity I placed it in my dock just before I was about to go to give my iPhone back and - voilà - there it was, the logo for the discharged battery and after some minutes, a small shimmering green light told me, that the battery was being charged.
After some additional 20 minutes I took my iPhone to see, if I need to restore the software, but everything was just as fine as before the "coma" ...
Maybe some of you guys have similar positive experiences like this ... I wish you all the best ...

If you restore it as New it is most likely a hardware problem. Take it to an Apple store and they will replace it, as all iPhone 5's are still in warranty.

Saw may web sites discussing this same issue; many discussions point to hardware problems but there is no official word from Apple about it, which is disapointing !?? Few discussions point to software problem with solutions based on try and error, and they don't seem to work.

I just got a replacement from apple so I was wondering if I'm going to get a brand new iphone?????

If ou go to an Apple store it is on the spot. Dealing through the support mail system, depends on the mail where you are located, time to get to Apple, be evaluated, replacement prepared and shipping back to you. Weeks at least. You will have to contact Apple support who will send the packaging and shipping label to you.
If you have not contacted Support yet, you can use the appropriate country number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 or the ExpressLane at https://Expresslane.apple.com and then choose the device, etc.

Brand new iPhone 5s will not turn on

I purchased a brand new iPhone 5s for my daughter and when we went to turn it on this morning, it would not turn on. I charged the phone, in case that was the issue but still nothing but a black screen. I connected to itunes and tried to restore the iPhone features, it recognized that it was an iphone but gave me an error 40 and the apple logo and progress bar was only visible. Once I diconnected from itunes, the screen went blank again. I also made sure that our iMac updates were completely up to date and that there were no security settings blocking its use, but still no luck.
Any suggestions?

I have a brand new iphone 4s unlocked version from singapore and I am experiencing constant network fluctuations on my iphone , no service, call failed, invalid sim, sim failure, bars fluctuating from 5 - 3 - 2 - 1, no signal/bars searching etc... Ifeel miserable after trying out all the options changed multiple sims, tried multiple carriers, restored the phone back and have set-up as new device but the problem does not get solved... its is so frustrating that after investing on a world's most expensive phone you cannot enjoy the calling features which the phone offers which is the main thing you own the phone for.. Rest of the things are working.. The funniest part I am not able to make calls or receive calls but can access the internet.. I have tried every possible thing and really very frustrated with this iphone of mine...I hope the problem gets solved.. would anyone have any solutions to this problem.. Does it mean one should never update software as I hear that after updating to IOS.5.1 the problem has started coming and same has been with there.... Apple says its a hardware failure which is very difficult to digest as sometimes I get 5 bars and able to make and receive calls but 95% of the time I am unable to. If anyone has any solution I will be very happy if he or share can share the same. Many thanks. its so disgusting to experience this on top of this apple does not support global warranty for the phone as you need to go to the country from where you bought the phone for replacement.. Brand new iphone wont update, stuck in recovery mode

So I just bought a brand new iPhone 5S today, and when I plugged it into iTunes I saw that there was an update for iOS 7.1.2. When I tried to update my phone, iTunes downloaded the update but wouldn't apply it to the phone, instead giving me a "waiting for iPhone" message. After a while I tried reconnecting the phone but iTunes stopped recognizing it and my phone was stuck with the iTunes logo and charger on-screen. I then put my phone in recovery mode - no results. I tried syncing it with another computer, but I can't restore the phone without it also installing 7.1.2, which doesn't work and just gets stuck on "preparing to restore iPhone." Is there anything I can possibly do to make my new phone work again? Did 7.1.2 actually just kill my phone?

My brand new iPhone 5 keeps saying "Connection Unsuccessful: Make sure "___" is turned on and in range" when I try to connect to my BlueTooth Stereo.

I just bought a brand new iPhone 5 (White and Gold) and have been having trouble keeping it connected to my BlueTooth Stereo. The stereo was purchased brand new back in September and is current on all software. Before I had my iPhone 5, I had the iPhone 4 and had no troubles with it connecting or remembering to connect to the stereo when it was in range. Now, in order to connect to it, I have to first "forget the device" then search for it again, find it, and connect. As soon as I turn either the stereo off, turn the iPhone off, or switch modes on the stereo (to CD mode, radio, etc) it loses the connection and does not pick it up again. It still shows up in my list of available bluetooth devices, but when I try to connect it says "Connection Unsuccessful: Make sure '____' is turned on and in range" which of course, it is.
I bought this stereo because I am a music teacher and use my phone frequently when teaching my classes. You can probably imagine how cumbersome it becomes when after each class if I have alternated between using my iPhone to play music or switching to CD mode, I then need to "forget the device" and follow the steps I outlined above to get it working again.
Has anyone else had this problem with the new iPhone and does anyone have a solution (I HOPE!!!!!)

I'm sorry, I don't understand your comment. Any computer program has at least 2 divisions. A Code division and a Data division. When we talk about the size of a program or operating system we mean the size of the Code division. The Data division will be of variable size, and can change dynamically. So the size of iOS when you download it is the size of the code. Other includes the data division of iOS, plus the data divisions of all apps that come bundled with iOS, plus the Safari cache, plus all email messages, plus all texts, plus all contacts, plus all calender events, plus all notes, plus all reminders, plus the music catalog, plus album art, plus data used by the iTunes & App stores, plus data used by the Genius feature, pus data used by Game Center, plus data used by Apple Maps (but not Google maps if you have it), plus a few things I've probably forgotten about.
Immediately after a new phone is activated, or after it is restored as new, Other still contains the data divisions of iOS. And if you have logged in to the iTunes and App stores during setup it contains the information from your account for those apps. And if you have logged in to iCloud it contains all of your iCloud contacts, calendar events, notes, reminders and email.
I've explained this several different ways. I'm not going to try again.
