Brand new iPhone 6 battery life dropping very fast and charging even faster

my brand new iPhone 6 that I have just recently started using the day before has a surprisingly bad battery life. whrn first turning on the phone to use the battery life only last 1-2 hours with average use. when the battery died this morning I pluhe'd the phone into charge and the battery is charging very fast already at 25% and only being charging for about 15-20 mins. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and if it is normal or if I have just recieved a faulty iPhone 6?

Can you check:
1. What apps show on settings - general - usage - battery usage?
2. How many apps have permission to use cellular data?

Depends on usage, your cellular reception overall, and various settings during that time.

Cannot restore my brand new iphone 4s ,got stuck in DFU mode and itunes shows error code (-1) please help?
repeatedly tried from diffierent computers and the same error code pops up (error -1)

That's a hardware problem which will require a trip to the Apple store for evaluation, unless your phone has been jailbroken, then it's a corrupt hosts file (and we can't help you with that here as it is against the forum's terms of use).

  • Anyone having problems with there iphone 5 battery life been very poor

I have had the iphone 5 for 4 weeks now and the battery life is very very poor at first i thought it must just be how it is....was dissapointed tho from fully charged to flat in 4 hours with little use or going to bed and waking up with the battery life going down 17%!!! but then 1 day i charged it fully and it never went down for ages, over 24 hours and it still had 25% this lasted for about 4 days then all of a sudden back to been rubish, i sent it in to apple who returened it without doing a single thing (apart from scratched an dented the bottom!!) it was exactly the same ..poor.....but then last night i charged it took it off charge at 6pm (english time) and now at 00.42am the day after it still has 11%....clearly ther is a fault somewere!!! has anyone had the same experience or got any tips for me please?
    cheers, Danny

Yes a lot of people are having this issue it's from the ios 6 update. Some users are reporting battery drains a lot after updating their device
There have always been a lot of battery problems posted about in these forums following each and every iOS update.  Personally, I believe that the battery really isn't discharging any faster, it is just that the charging circuit is confused and needs to be reset. I always perform a setup as a new phone for major updates, for example iOS3 to iOS4, 4 to 5, 5 to 6, which should be a 'reset' for the charging system, but I do a simple update for point releases--6.0 to 6.0.1, etc.  I have never had a problem with battery performance when performing the full update as new, only when I did a 'normal' update for a point release.  If I perform an update with a restore from the old backup after a major update the battery problem did appear.
After every iOS point update I always do a full reset--home and on/off buttons held down until the Apple appears--three or four times over the course of a couple of days.  I allow the phone to fully charge overnight every night.
This has always resulted in 'normal' battery life after one or a few reset cycles.  By 'normal' I mean that a fully charged iPhone, with email and other notifications enabled and set to push, and no particular attention paid to battery conserving techniques, will discharge to about 89% over a 10 hour day.  If I make a few phone calls and surf the web a bit then the level has fell to 70% or so, but unless I heavily use my iPhone 5 it doesn't drop below that point.
Prior to performing the resets the charge level would sometimes drop into the 50's or 60's or even lower in a few hours without using the iPhone.  This problem 'scenario' has happened with every iPhone I have ever owned and I've owned all but the original iPhone.
As always, YMMV.  I make no claims as to its usability for anyone else.

  • Brand new iPhone 4 battery drain

I know there are many posts regarding this subject but my issue is very strange.  I had a 3GS for 2 years and it had IOS 5.01 but beginning last Friday the battery began to drain.  I went to an Apple store and the tech told me that the problem was that the usage time and the standby time was exactly the same.  So he tells me to do a restore and set it up as a new phone.  I tried everything...restore from backup, restore as a new iPhone...no change.  So I am thinking that the battery is toast.  Time to upgrade.  I go to ATT to get my new iPhone 4 on Wednesday and get home to set it up on iTunes.  Now my brand new iPhone 4 is doing exactly the same thing as my former 3GS.  I opened a case with Apple today and was told to do a backup then a restore from the backup.  I did not sync any of my apps or music.  Left work at 5pm with a 100% charge, did not use the phone at all for 2+ hours, checked the charge at it was at 74%.  I checked the usage and just as I suspected the usage time and standby time were exactly the same, as if I had been using the phone for 2+ hours.  Apple says they will send me another phone but I really don't think the problem is the phone.  The only common denominator is iTunes.  Any thoughts?

Dlwynn, this is a crazy issue. I can only immagin how frustrating this issue could be for you!
One thing I have found when dealing with any possible hardware or software issue, that I need to get isolated is to scrap the whole back up/restore from back up, and restore the device as new, and see where you are at without all of your stuff on it.
When doing this procedure its important that if you DO have important stuff on the phone you do not want to lose that you back it up in another way...Contacts into windows contacts or use iCloud. You would stand to lose application settings, text messages and call history ..because these are things that are only stored in the back up.
You can save your pictures to your computer using Auto play.
Another way to go about it would be to navigate to your hidden back up folder, copy it to your desktop..restore as new...and if that does not resolve your issue, you put your back up thats on your desktop back into the hidden back up folder, and restore from your back up.
Anyways with all of this being said..If your batter drain issue persists with restoring your device as new in itunes...that would prove a hardware failure.
If the issue goes away after you restore as new. that means that something within your back up was the source of the issue.
The other common thread here is that you keep restoring from your back up.
Anyways I hope this helps you

  • HT1476 ever since I upgraded to ios 7, the battery life is very short and I do not use my ipad all that much.l have been on the phone to apple 3 times, turning off all kinds of things I so not use and have powered off more than before but it is still poor

ever since I upgraded to ios 7, my battery life is very short. I do not use the ipad all that much and have to charge it twice as much as before. I have been on the phone to Apple 3 times and turned off a number of things that I am not using and now power it off more regularly but still not happy with battery life. It is less than a year old and as I said, I don' t use it all that much

My best bet would be to restore the phone. Back it up to itunes, and then reset it Factory settings. This way, any corrupt software will be removed, and you can start fresh. Make sure you back it up first. By the sounds of it, you are using the phone for business and probably need the data from it. Hope this helps!

  • I HAVE A BRAND NEW IPHONE 5S. IT SUDDENLY DOESNT WANT TO CHARGE. IT SAYS THE CHARGER IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MY DEVISE. WHY DID THAT HAPPEN?

I have a brand new iphone. All of a sudden it will not charge. When i plug the charger to the phone it says that charger its not compadible with my phone and sometimes it will charge up to 4% and then it wont charge any more. Why is this?

If your phone is still under warranty, get it checked by Apple or visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider to find out what the problem might be.
Could be the USB adapter, USB cable or the docking port of the phone.

  • Why is the battery life dropping so fast on my iphone 4s. Just started all of a sudden today, never did it before. I already double-clicked the bottom button to see what was running and nothing was running. I checked multiple times and turned apps. off.

All of a sudden today my battery life just started dropping off on my iphone 4s. I charge it every night. I double clicked the circle button on the bottom to see what was running and there was minimal running but i turned them off anyway. I checked back in a little bit, the same, turned the couple things off again which were like phone and messages... nothing major running. Battery percentage still plummeted til it just turned off.

Are there apps on your phone right now?
I think one of your apps is causing this.
The only way to find out is to delete them all and then add them one by one to see what app maybe causing this.
Especially if you've gone thru 3 iphones already.
When you restored as new - did you sync back your stuff - apps/music or did you restore from backup?

  • Brand new 13" MBP Battery life is not 10 hrs.

Today I got my brand new 13" Macbook pro. The battery is advertised as lasting up to 10 hrs. This is my first time using the computer and I charged it up completely. I just unplugged it. The battery meter on top reads 6.46 hrs.
I have the display turned down. and the keyboard backlight off. I do have wifi on and bluetooth on but why is it not reading higher?

Yes you should calibrate your battery at least a couple times. I just purchased a new 15" i7 and found some improvement after doing it once, and a little bit more after the second time. Here's some instructions from Apple...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/9036.html
With the 13" you have a very energy efficient machine but Apple's battery times are under "ideal" conditions and seem to be a little overstated (OK maybe more than a little). My 2008 15" non-unibody had a "5 hour battery" and in real life it was more like 3-4 hr maximum under light use. *I also had the 2009 version of your 13" and got around 6-6.5 hrs max out of the "7 hour battery" again under light usage.* My 2010 15" i7 well... let's just say the 8-9 hours quoted must be under lab conditions! Real life battery is 2-7hrs depending upon usage. Ugh.

  • My Brand New Nano's Battery Life is Short

I just got my first Ipod nano last week so this may be my fault cause I'm still learning. The first time I charged my battery it lasted about 3 hours. I though it may have been because it was new that it was depleted so fast. I fully charged it last night & have used it for about 2 hours and the battery shows only about 25% life left. Nowhere near 14 hours. Is it my Ipod or am I doing something wrong? Should I return it to the store from which I purchased it (this would be the 2nd return. My first one I bought 3 days earlier would get really hot on the back & start sounding scratchy)?

First, know that the meter is inaccurate. Just because it says half-empty doesn't mean it is half-empty. Also, the battery may not last the full 14 hours until after a few charge cycles, where you charge the battery, then use it all up, then charge it again.

I don't know what to do. My iPhone 5 is 1 year old and I don't think that my battery is dying. I think it's iOS 7 which drains my battery in about 3 hours! What can i do to fix it?

First, fix your CAPS lock key, it must be broken.  Certainly someone would not be foolish enough to come to a public forum asking for help and instead SCREAM at fellow users that are only here to offer help.
Second, search the forums.  This isssue is addressed regularly.  There are hundreds if not thousands of postings about battery issues.

  • Brand new Y50-70 battery life problem

Hello,I have recently purchased a Lenovo Y50-70 (GTX 960M, IPS screen) without Windows to save money. I do have an MSDN subscription, so this would be a complete waste of money.I've installed the OS - Windows 8.1 with update - and all necessary drivers. But Action Center tells me that there's a compatibility issue with power management, and because of this, the notebook only last 2 hours on a charge. What did I do wrong? Does the order of drivers I install matter?

    Hi Toastnbutter,
    Welcome to the Forums
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with battery in your Lenovo Y50-70 laptop.
Try to perform the battery gauge reset and check for the issue, to perform the gauge reset go to energy management and select maintainence and guide option. Select battery gauge reset and check for the issue. The order of the drivers will not matter.
Also try to reinstall the energy management and check for the issue.
