  • Brand new ipod touch will not sync?

Bought a brand new ipod touch.  Tried to sync to iTunes on my computer.  Checked all music in library, clicked sync, ipod says it is syncing, computer says sync is complete, but there is no music on the ipod.  Have repeated process a dozen times.  Have tried automatic sync and manual sync.  Have disconnected, reconnected.  Have restarted both devices and tried again.  No error message, gigabytes show nearly nothing used up, on the computer and on the ipod, even after it says the sync was successful/is complete.  Argh, help!?

    Hi jen,
When you say all of the Music is checked, do you mean checked in the library? When you hook up your iPod to the computer, you also have to make sure that the "Sync Music" box is checked on the Music tab for the Device Profile....
    Cheers,

My situation :iPod touch 4g with iOS 5
                        :iTunes 10.5

    Did you follow the instructions in the manuL;
    Setting up iPod touch
To set up and activate iPod touch, just turn it on and follow the onscreen instructions that step
you through the setup process, including:
    Connecting to a Wi-Fi network
    Â
Signing in with or creating a free Apple ID
    Â
    Setting up iCloud
    Â
Turning on recommended features such as Location Services and Find My iPod
    Â
    Activating iPod touch
    Â
You can also restore from an iCloud or iTunes backup during setup.
    13
Activation can be done over a Wi-Fi network. If you don’t have access to a Wi-Fi network, you can
connect iPod touch to your computer and finish activation using iTunes.
Connecting iPod touch to your computer
If you don’t have Wi-Fi access, you might need to connect iPod touch to your computer to
complete setup. You can also connect iPod touch to your computer to sync music, videos, and
other information with iTunes. You can also sync your content wirelessly. See “iCloud” on page 16
and “Syncing with iTunes” on page 17.
Connect iPod touch to your computer:  Use the provided Dock Connector to USB Cable.
Disconnect iPod touch from your computer:  Check to make sure a sync is not in progress, then
disconnect the cable. If a sync is in progress, first drag the slider on iPod touch to cancel.

  • Brand new iPod touch won't sync:

My girlfriend got a 8GB iPod touch for Christmas. I just plugged it into her Vaio (Windows 7) laptop to sync her iTunes (which is the latest version). The first time it froze some 4 songs into the sync. The whole computer was frozen & I had to force it to restart. Long story short, I went through this process numerous times, each time doing a complete reset on her iPod & starting from fresh every time on the iTunes sync. However, every single time, it freezes at a certain point of the sync process.
I am assuming this is a hardware issue, since I also have a brand new 64GB touch syncing as we speak on my desktop computer.
Anybody else having this problem & have a solution?

I'm getting the same problem. I thought it was something that went wrong during downloading, so I was going to try and re-download the songs. I don't know if that'll work though.

  • Battery on brand new iPod touch drains when synced to a mac and now it won't charge. If you're thinking of buying a new iPod touch, don't bother. The batteries don't work.

The battery on my son's brand new 64G iPod touch drained while it was synced yo the mac. Now it says 100% charged when it's connected to a charger, but drops to zero as soon as it's disconnected. It would appear that, either the battery is faulty or the battery indicator is faulty. iPod batteries are not supposed to drain while syncing. And rechargeable batteries are supposed to recharge after they have drained. Maybe I'm missing something simple here, does anyone know what it is?

    Not Charge

    - Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

  • Brand new ipod touch won't sync. windows uses MTP driver, not ipod driver.

The apple usb driver is installed correctly, but under the portable devices in the device manager it shows ipod touch, but when you check the driver it using the microsoft MTP driver, the driver is dated 2006 and the manufacturer is microsoft. I can't locate the ipod driver to manually update. and i have reinstalled iTunes 3 times and reset 3 times. it still won't recognize my ipod. what do i do?

  • Itunes asks to update my brand new ipod touch.. I do and now it wont work at all!!!

just got my brand new ipod touch ... working good then itunes wants to update so I do now my ipod doesnt work at all! all I get is the apple and a line on face and wont even turn off!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT1212 my daughter has a brand new ipod touch - never used - she entered a passcode then immediately forgot it and now she has tried to enter one too many times and ipod is locked for 1 hour - she has never synced with itunes HELP

my daughter has a brand new ipod touch - latest one - she started to input a passcode then didn't finish the process then turned off ipod. she turned it back on and it is asking for a passcode - she doesn't remember what she typed. Ipod is now disabled for one hour. Can we override the disable. How do we reset passcode when we don't klnow the original. It has never been synced to Itunes. I am completely lost.

    iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.

  • Brand new iPod touch, only synced once. Now showing the pairing record missing notification. Not recognised by iTunes OR computer. Have tried literally everything including reinstalling iTunes, rebooting, etc. Please help.

As I've said, brand new iPod touch. I only synced it Friday night, put some music on it. This morning tried to connect to iTunes and got a message saying the pairing record was missing? Computer isn't recognising it either, but it charges off the computer just fine. Have tried everything including changing USB port, rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes twice, literally everything I've found on forums. Anyone help me out here? I'm so annoyed I could nearly cry.

Anyone able to help with this?

  • Brand new iPod touch having syncing problems

I bought a brand new iPod touch 4th generation to replace my 3rd generation one. When I first plugged it in, almost everything synced over. After I noticed my notes, calender, photos, and previously saved wallpaper photos didn't transfer over, I synced my iPod again. The second time, the notes transfered over but not the rest of the stuff. I tried to manually sync photos. Now, my iPod won't sync at all with the message "Cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." popping up. If I go into wall papers or simply photos, the main library is just a black screen with a scroll bar. It also says the iPod is up to date. Please help.
I'm scared to completely restore because I don't want everything to wipe from my computer.

If you are connecting to a hub discontinue doing so and try connecting directly to your computer and see what happens.

  • I have a brand new ipod touch and it wont connect to itunes or my computer!!??

I have a brand new ipod touch however when I connect it to my computer, itunes does not recognise it and neither does my computer. The drivers have downloaded and are showing working. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes as discussed in support centre however nothing seems to work. The ipod itself just has the connect to the computer on the screen, is fully charged and when plugged in a little lock sign comes up for a second or two above the itunes icon!!! Let me know if you have any further suggestions please.

Thanx for you suggestions, I used my old xp laptop...update software and my ipod connected however the memory is not large enough to hold my itunes library so I could see it was not the cable or the ipod at fault.
I have tried to connect to my vista laptop again and have tried all of the suggestions in troubleshooting again...I have even upgraded to windows 7 to see if that cleared the problem....and....my computer has located my ipod but is only recognising it as a digital camera so back to the drawing board...
Please have you any other suggestions???

  • I have a brand new Ipod touch and it will not sync.

I have a brand new ipod touch and I cannot get it to synch with my itunes.  I have two other Ipod Nano's that will synch up just fine.  The computer has windows XP with the latest service pack on it.  It does not recognize it as a device in windows, but sees my other two ipods.  I have the latest itunes software on it.  I even uninstalled it and reinstalled per the apple web site.  I connected the ipod touch to another cpmputer and the usb port sees it as a device just fine.  What do I need to do to this thing to get this computer to see it?
