Brand New Ipod will not charge. Too low to turn on. Same icon for 2 days
I got this baby for christmas and recently it ran completely out of battery and I have had it connected to the computer for 2 days now and still no charge, Itunes does not even recognize it. If you got any help I guess just post on here or email me at [email protected]...
Thanks,
Doug
Dell Windows 2000
I have this problem too. My first generation Nano was revived by a Genius at the local Apple store when he connected it to an AC adapter.
Unfortunately, it seems that the Nano requires a small charge just to get it to the place where it can recharge using USB.
The solution: don't let the battery discharge completely, and/or buy an AC charger for the Nano.
I guess I should also change the settings on the iPod so it goes to sleep after a couple of hours. (I often listen to audio books while going to sleep, so the iPod plays all night, and uses all the battery power.)
Over the life of the iPod, the cost of an AC adapter is far less than the cost of buying disposable batteries, but it irks me that an adapter is necessary when the rechargeable battery runs out.

My brand new PB will not charge when in standby or when on
I played with a number of PB's so far and finally have my own but... My brand new PB will not charge when in standby or when on; as soon as I plug the charger into the USB port it detects it and brings the screen up (if in standby) showing the lighting bolt on the battery but it does not charge; the lighting bolt stays but the % charge does not change (or hopefully increase) at all; it will actually decrease (??); the only way I can charge it is when I attach the charger and the PB is powered off… the PB brings the red (or green can't remember) LED on and starts to flash it on off and charges; tried the hard reset with no change; I am running the latest OS release 1.0.8.6067. Has anyone seen this? Is it h/w or f/w? Any Fix?
Here's a final update on this... the units goes back to its maker or the store sometimes tomorrow... Why? First I tried to understand if this was s/w or h/w related or maybe both before calling support which in the end I did; so I did try a different charger, hard resetting the unit, discharging and recharging etc; nothing helped or fixed the charging in standby; the unit continued to charge only after being turned off and then plugged into the charger. Here's what I learned:
1. Going through the initial setup and OS update it is quite possible for the unit to NOT load the OS image correctly i.e. it appears that it loaded the OS and displays the OS version as if it loaded properly when in fact it did not and the image loaded is corrupt. I found this out during a live session with support when they were looking at my PC screen while the PB was connected to the PC only to point out that the Desktop Manager was showing a s/w update being available (1.0.8 bundle 6067) while the unit was reporting 1.0.0 bundle 0. Strange, I thought I already had 1.0.8.6067... after accepting the update, which takes a bit to load, I started more testing, charging, discharging, hard reset (i.e. Volume Up + Power) etc with no positive results to report. This also proved that the USB port is working, both data (PC to PB communication alright) and power (PB displays the plug over the battery bar when the power contact work)
2. The charger I have works and it is the correct one: P/N PSM09A-050RIM; make sure it is not one of the incorrectly rated chargers some received.
3. In order to reduce the amount of current the unit consumes when on, you have to run the Video Chat app at least once and acknowledge the (c) page; otherwise this remains as a background app that take more CPU cycles on the battery. After doing this I did notice a slight improvement in the sense that PB did charge some instead of discharging. The problem is that it only charged to about 60% and did not move higher no matter how long I waited (yes I did reset just to make sure it is not the s/w acting up and deciding to not update the power bar)
4. The way the RIM RMA works is like this: they start the process for you to return the unit back for repair which I understand may take 10 days; you may get a unit to use for this time if so desired, it will be charged to your CC; your unit may get repaired if possible; if not possible to repair, your new unit will be replaced with a refurbished unit; once you get some unit back you need to send the “10 day replacement unit” to RIM to get your CC charge cleared. I find that this program is good for when you can not return the unit to the place you purchased it from. Otherwise it is not good as I do not like getting a refurb for something I consider brand new (not to mention that you may get a unit with a few bright or dark pixels)
5. Throughout this process I looked at three (3) Playbooks: 2 had bright pixels and were returned immediately; this last one does not charge correctly. No win for me!
6. The battery lasts approx 4 hours with the unit playing a video clip in a loop and WiFi on with a WEB pulled stop watch running as well (had to allow multi tasking in setup/general).
Finally, my theory about this problem is that it is h/w related and that it is caused by the noise the board or the display is making when the unit is either on or in standby; a component not soldered properly (cold joint) or out of spec may be the culprit; for example a resistor in resistor divider monitoring the battery voltage or a decoupling capacitor missing or not soldered... -
My Ipod will not charge and I cannot turn it on
My ipod will not charge was working fine yesterday. I have connected it to itunes it up dates the softwre but once it has finished the unit turns itsekf off and will not charge.
Plug it into the charger that came with the device and plug that into a known good wall outlet. If the battery is completely drained it may take an hour or more before the device shows some signs of life.

What is the status of the BlackBerry Internet Service?
Do you see the BlackBlerry dots logo at the top right of the home screen next to the signal bar indicator?
If not, and if the BIS status is not connected, could be the plan is not yet provisioned by Tesco.
Then, try this:
On your BlackBerry device, go to:
1. On OS5 devices: Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register. On OS6 devices: Options > Device > Advanced > Host Routing Table
2. Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site:
From your handheld device: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402
Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books. From your desktop PC: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American Carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
WorldWide Carriers - Find your carrier on the list
3. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. This reboot, even if you have already done this, is often needed to install the service books.

80 GiG Brand New iPod Will Not Connect- Wants Drivers
I run Windows Vista. My new 80 GiG iPod will not connect, saying it needs drivers. I guess I'm ignorant, but I'm stumped. The drivers are supposed to be in the latest download of iTunes, but they never are found. I have reset, re-installed my iPod and iTunes until I'm blue in the face. The forums offer no real help except to refer to several articles by Apple that don't give me a clue.
Help Please.

iPods use the standard Windows USB mass storage drivers.

TS3274 My brand new iPad will not charge. What is wrong? What should I do?
Just took it out of the box. It's the best one. It remains at 41% after being plugged in overnight.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Brand new iPod will not fully sync with iTunes
Howdy! My issue seems to be similar to the other thread "new 5G iPOd formatted for windows, no Movies tab????"
I purchased a new 30GB iPod yesterday and plugged it into my iTunes (7.0.2). After naming the iPod I set it to upload all my iTunes content to the iPod. Then the registration process comes up. Once I tried to complete it I got an error saying that the iTunes Store was having a problem and I should try again later. So, I waited until the upload was done and checked my iPod. None of my videos, audiobooks or any purchased content had been uploaded.
Having only owned a first generation iPod I was ignorant of what I should see in my iTunes window with this new one. I only have four tabs: Summary, Music, Podcasts and Contacts. On my Summary page the "Update" and "Restore" buttons are grayed out and the Software Version and Serial Number display as n/a. AND it was formatted for Windows (what's up with that?).
I went to the wife's computer and did a restore and a software upgrade (Version 1.2) and saw all these tabs that my iTunes didn't have! I was elated! Plug it back into my computer and I still have the same problem, nothing has changed. At least now I'm past the registration problem as I completed that on the wife's computer. When I try to manually move purchased content to the new iPod I get an error saying my software needs to be upgraded.
So, I believe that iTunes is confusing my new iPod with the old one. But, at least on the old one I was able to upload purchased content, if not video and photos. I did name them differently, so there shouldn't be any confusion there. One thing I find odd is that my old 5GB iPod has software version 1.5 where my new 30GB iPod has version 1.2. This must be the root of the problem.
Any information would be helpful. Thanks!Having only owned a first generation iPod I was ignorant of what I should see in my iTunes window with this new one. Brand new cord will not charge it?
Okay, so this morning when my mac was charging my dad moved it from the couch to the table, and in the process moved the extension cable it was connected to to the floor, my 15 week old rabbit decided that my lovely white power adapter looked tasty and decided to chew it. I came back to my computer and picked up the long white cord because i was going to move it so my rabbit wouldnt chew it and discovered he already had by the big chew marks he had made where the wires were exposed were sparking. Long story short, i took it to my local apple store they told me it wasnt covered, i payed $89AUD for a new one and got on with my life. I used my mac this afternoon without it plugged in as it was allready charged from this morning. I plugged it in tonight and realised that it wasnt charging. On my bar it says (Not Charging) and then on the drop menu it says.
Battery Is Not Charging
Power Source; Power Adapter
Its keeping it working, but it isnt charging it? My old one and my new one are both 60W. I have tried plugging it into many different places none work. What do you think is wrong? There have been a lot of variants of the MacBook Pro since its introduction in 2006. One variant (can't remember which), required a software solution to work with the newer "L" shaped power connectors. Without knowing which you have, the best thing is to see if Software Updates offers you a patch.
There are also reports of some of the older, silver-key MBPs having a problem with the fit of the new adaptors.
Lacking that, I'd take the computer and the new adaptor to an Apple Store or AASP and stand there until they can provide an adaptor that works. Leave the rabbit at home.
Man! I though cats were tough on computer cables! -

My daughter has had her phone 4 days and it has only today died completely it had icon in corner saying off so I put it on charge. But where the battery icon was there was no sign to say it was charging. I left it an hour and nothing so I did a battery pull and it rebooted but then died completely. Brand new battery will not charge
I just bought a new battery for my mac book, because I assumed that my old one had died. However the new one won't work either, and now I am out of the country so no genius bar visits are in my near future. The battery status is listed as uninstalled and there is an x through the battery icon in the menu bar. What am I missing? How do I install it?
