Brand new MacBookPro acting really weird. It's stuck i think

So my brand new Mac Book Pro (30 days old) recently started to act really weird. I have this audio software called Pro Tools 10 and 2-3 days ago it started to crash it every time i open up a Virtual Plug-in on a track. I thought that this was the only problem with my computer but I'm noticing new weird things every day.
When i shut down my computer or restart it it always turns on with the File Sharing window open.. I was experimenting with in the File Sharing window like 3 days ago but now it opens every time I start my computer.  When I click on the System Preferences the File Sharing window always opens up. I have to click ,,Show All'' to see the menu for System Preferences.
When i open up Safari the same 3 tabs always reloads. This was some websites i looked at 2-3 days ago but it always reloads. Even if I quit Safari it reloads when i open it up again.
I deleted a application from my computer and it's shortcut from the DOCK but everytime i start up my computer it appears there (just a question mark instead of the shortcut)
It's like my computer is stuck. Stuck in the day i did all these things and it hasn't coped with the things I've done since then.
I've tried to un-click the ,, Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps'' in the System Preferences/General but as soon as I close the window it clicks itself again. I reset safari but that won't do it ether.
I've updated all my software and I'm now currently running Mac OS X 10.7.5 on MacBook Pro 15' i7 16gb RAM. I upgraded my RAM like 15 days ago so I don't think that's the problem. I've done ,,remember tests on it and it passed all the tests.
So what could be wrong with my computer ? What could be making her behave so weird ? Should I delete my user account and create a new one ? Should I install Mountain Lion instead of the version I already have ?

  • Dock acting really weird - Please help!

After installing the Mobile ME update and iTunes 7.7, my dock has been acting really weird.
    1. I usually set the default dock size at the smallest possible. However, now when you left click on the separator of folders and applications, it allows the dock to become smaller than possible when setting from the Preference Pane
    2. The dock automatically becomes smaller over time until the icons are really tiny.
Is this a bug encountered by anyone else? It really bugs me that I have to keep pulling the dock to a standard size. Can someone please help me out of this mess?

    Hey VK
    Thanks for the quick response.
I did just that. Deleted the com.apple.dock.plist under my user home directory/Library/Preferences.
While it reset the dock, the problem still remains. You can view the problem by
    1. Setting the dock to the smallest possible size via the Preference Pane
    2. Turn on magnification and bring it closer to the left side of the adjustable bar
    3. Now, use your mouse to drag the dock by the separator
Observation: The dock will become smaller than is "set" by the bar in Preference Pane
    4. Click on the bar in the preference pane, set at small, the dock will resize itself again
    5. Choose the dock to be set on the right
    6. Choose it to be set at bottom
Observation: The dock is a LOT smaller than it could ever have been.
    7. Click on the smallest possible size in the preference pane, the dock resizes itself
    8. The dock keeps getting smaller over time still. =(!

  • TS1367 my brand new macbookpro  wont turn on!

my brand new macbookpro (bought it on Monday this week), wont turn on. i have tried changing the power outlets and it still wont turn on. the light is green in the cable when its plugged in. Any advice? i'm very disappointed to face this problem so soon.

    Hello there liron78,
If I understand correctly, you are unable to turn on your MacBook Pro even with a different power outlet. I would use these other troubleshooting steps from the following article, named:
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

If you are still unable to start up your computer after trying each of these steps, visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for further diagnosis. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).
If the issue persists, I would use step 5 to get ahold of AppleCare either for additional assistance or to help setup service for it.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Is there anyone that can tell me a little bit about what is going on?

I've restored it several times with no backup at all and it doesn't seem to help.  Almost all of my apps crash I have deleted almost all of them hoping if it was a memory prob it would be fixed but no the main one is safari it crashes all the time.  It also just acts really weird. When I am typing anything on safari the letters will drag and then slowly catch up when I'm typing.  It will also go to a different kind of screen format like its trying to figure out if it's a computer or phone when I rotate the screen.  I have go in and delete the website data and clear everything almost everyday and it still does this.  Hope that helps, if you have any idea on what's going on or any other advice on how to fix I'd love the help thanks

  • Weekly Kernel Panic on brand new MacbookPro. Help!

I bought a new Macbook Pro a month ago. Every single week I get a Kernel Panic. Once I was surfing the Internet, another time I was writing a document with Word, and the last I was using Logic Pro.
I have no idea what can be causing it but I read that a lot of times Kermel Panics are caused by faulty hardware. Since it is brand new, I can just take it to the Apple Store and they will probably send it to be repaired. However, it´s the only computer I have and I can´t spend two o three weeks without it.
So I was wondering if anybody here could tell me what might be the problem and if there´s maybe an easier solution. I have pasted the three error reports so you can check.

    I really appreciate your help.

Update: I took it to the Genius Bar. They made two test and said everything was all right. They told me to reset the computer and use it some days without installing anything to see what happens. So I´ll wait and see but something is telling me the problem isn´t solved.
Just before I took it to Apple, once again, I got a Kernel panic:

  • My iMac is acting really weird lately....

So I got my iMac in 2008 I think. Around that time. So sometimes it's slow but it still works fine... Initially I had 1 GB of RAM and last year I got 3 more so now I have 4GB of RAM. (I don't know whether this may be related to my problem but I thought I'd mention it) My iMac has been acting unusually weird for a week or so. It starts up soo slow, it takes about 7 minutes. Yesterday it started up just fine though.... Today I wanted to start it up and I got to the desktop screen but the little applications on the top bar (the wifi, volume, language preference, caffeine etc) wouldn't all load (just a few of them were there)... and then I got the spinning wheel.... which wouldn't stop spinning... so I shut it down because nothing would work and I started it up again. No luck. I tried again and this time I was stuck for 15 minutes at the grey apple logo thing before I got to the desktop screen... Also, I have an app called Caffeine. A few days ago it disappeared from my top bar without having done anything... I use it so that the desktop doesn't go into sleep mode/screensaver mode... so I noticed the screen saver and I thought it was weird because I haven't had screen savers for years. The first time it started to act strange was a week ago, when I started the iMac and it told me to enter my apple ID and password - but I never logged out of it! This happened multiple times. Once, I entered everything correctly and it told me that it was incorrect. When I restarted, it got me right into my apple ID.. Also Chrome was asking me for a password for 'local items' - which is really weird because I never had something like that. Or at least never seen that before..... I also searched for viruses and repaired some permissions but it didn't change much... now it doesn't ask me to log into my apple ID anymore but it takes so long to start up... But once it's finished starting up it works flawlessly. I'm really worried. What's happening to my iMac?

    Do the following:
Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
Backup your files to an external drive.
    Boot from your installer DVD.
    Erase the hard drive.
    Reinstall Snow Leopard.
    Upgrade Snow Leopard to 10.6.8.
Reinstall any third-party software from original media.
    Restore your data files.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. After formatting is finished quit Disk Utility and return to the installer. Complete Snow Leopard installation.
    5. Download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8
The easiest way to do the backup step is to connect a formatted, empty hard drive of the same capacity or greater than your internal drive. Clone the internal drive to it.
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

  • T410 - Brand new laptop acting strange

I got this new laptop yesterday and as soon as I started configuring it and downloading all the Windows updates is started acting strange.  The first issue was that the touchpad would not work - only the red pointing device.  Also, the mouse would slowly move to the upper right of screen all on it's own without touching it.
It also intermitently freezes where I can move the mouse pointer around but it will not recognize my clicks on anything,  When I forcibly close dwm.exe (which stands for "Desktop Windows Manager" then that solves the problem.
The other issue is that when I'm tying the cursor will jump around on it's own.  So if I'm typing in my login info, it will either stop typing and jump out of that box or it will jump to the front and I'll end up typing the last part of the login name in the front of the first part.
Any idea what these buggy things could be?  This is supposed to be brand new from CompUSA.com

so the trackpad doesn't work? Press Fn + F8 does the trackpad shows as enabled or disabled.
Under bios there is also option to enable and disable the trackpad, ensure that it is enabled.

  • Kernel Panic / Blue screen of death on brand new MacBookPro 2.6 GHZ

I thought it was quite normal to get one system crash with a brand new computer (MacBook Pro 2.6GHZ, OS 10.5.1 pre-installed, everything updated) , so I wasn't too worried when it occured yesterday. But now it happened again...
    1. I use Mail and Web browser.
    2. The wireless internet connection goes down. (The connection icon indicates that everything works, but no application can reach out).
    3. The system crashes, after a short while.
The computer is brand new. No Haxies installed. (Quicksilver, is an application, not a haxie, right?)
What is installed: iWork, iLife, DevonThink, MSoffice, Quicksilver, Adium, Adobe CS3, EndNote X1.
Does your new MacBook Pro crash as well?

The system crashed again. Does this look familiar to anyone? Does this look like a hardware or a software problem?

  • Brand new macbookpro; recent install Yosemite; computer now opens to my name and image but no place to put the password but nothing happens when trying to click on restart etc.

Macbook Pro purchased December 2014.....was fine until update iOS  to Yosemite 2 days ago. Now, when turned on my image with my name comes up on the screen...no place to put your password.....at the bottom...restart, but used cursor to click on the restart and also my name, the image etc....nothing happens.
I shutdown to go into the Recovery OS....and got the screen about resetting the password....which doesn't need reset. The third choice seemed more appropriate regarding the keyboard...but could not click on any of them with the cursor.
Spent an hour with Apple support who ended up referring me to an Apple store that's a 100 mile round trip from me. Can't believe they can't help me...and can't believe this is happening to a brand new Mac.....guess Apple is no different than any other computer...install an update or upgrade...and immediately have problems.
    Exasperated,
Joe......good thing my Dell is working

Resetting User Password in Lion and Mountain Lion
Boot into your Recovery Partition by holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting.
When the Recovery screen appears, go to the Utilities menu and open Terminal.
    In Terminal, type:
    resetpassword
...a small app will open and allow you to choose the user for whom you want to change the password. If you are the admin, be certain that you choose your admin user. Type in your new password twice and give yourself a good hint. Click OK (or Done or whatever) and reboot, enjoying the use of your new, hopefully memorable, password.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Brand new MacBookPro - iCal crashes each time I open

I just got a new MacBook Pro (my 3rd Mac computer) and well versed in iCal. This time, I did not migrate information over from old computer...so everything is brand new, untouched.
Every single time I launch iCal - it gives me an error message "ical quit unexpectedly"
On the 2nd boot - it will open correctly and have a window that says "restore windows"
Sad face for brand new unit!!

I'm having trouble getting the desktop version of Story to run (on MacBook Pro, OS X Lion). Whenever I open it, I see this warning

Seems to be true whether I am connected to the internet or not. I thought initially I had a problem with Air, but I've uninstalled and reinstalled and all seems to be well there. Thoughts?

    Hi,
This could be due to to OS X Lions 'Save/Restore Application state feature (on quit/relaunch)'.
Can you try out following and see if the issue is fixed ?
      1) Launch System Preferences and click on the “General” icon
      2) At the bottom of the “Number of recent items” list, uncheck the checkbox next to “Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps”
      3) Now reboot and restart adobe story (you can try reinstalling adobe story as well).
Please note: This might affect other applications, whoe states were stored so far on quitting. This is a sweeping change that impacts all applications and the Finder itself, meaning all apps will no longer save their previous state, including when you reboot your Mac.
    thanks

  • Brand new Macbook Pro Really disappointed

I just got my brand spanking new MacBook Pro. I got 4 gigs of RAM, 200 gig worth of hard disk, and I got the 17" one. I am really disappointed. I used the "Migration Assistant" per the instructions to xfer my network, email, files, et al from my old Powerbook. I went to start using my new computer and the email settings were not set up at all and my address book on the new Mac contains none of the listings from my Apple addressbook on my old Mac and yes, I checked every one of those boxes re preferences of what to xfer in Migration Assistant. What's the point and what the **** was the MA doing all the time I had to wait for it to finish its business...
    Really disappointed.
Now I have to go back and place everything manually into the new Mac? As I said, what's the point...
I just went back and looked again and not even my web sites/bookmarks however these are being referred to these days was saved into Safari on my new Mac and yes, I was connecting via Firewire. Really really ****** about this. Ease of use... right...
Message was edited by: Actually Human

Not angry - just really really disappointed. I mean what were they thinking... many many users buying this machine would indeed be "migrating" from the last Macintoshes which were non-Intel based. I have to wonder what the intention was and who the intended user was for this so-called "Migration Assistant" and whether any user testing was done at all... Really a disappointment. Now it seems like I need to set aside an entire day to get up and running. Very disappointing and UNApple-like.
Do you have any advice on how to transfer addresses from my Apple address book? Do I need to go EXPORT them first on the old Mac?
What about iTunes stuff - some stuff xferred and some did not - I "authorized" my new computer but do I now have to go DEauthorize the old one?
Now I understand why people are paying the Applestore to do this for them after a purchase. What a BIG pain in the a.
Where are all the bookmarks and how do I xfer those? And the Mail settings - where are they and what are they called and what do I move them into on the new computer?
Almost $4000 I spent and to not be able to get up and running nearly as quickly as the last time I got a new Mac is I feel a big blow to Apple's current engineering design. This reflects poor thinking/design.
    Thanks for your helpful post!
