Brand new nano: iTunes shows songs on the ipod that the ipod thinks are not
I first upgraded the firmware on my new 8GB nano, and upgraded my iTunes version, and then uploaded about 4 GB of music.
But I have this weird bug:
For a few artists, iTunes correctly shows their songs as being on the ipod, but then when I browse to the artist on my ipod, only 1 of the 3 songs are there. 2 songs are missing, even though iTunes definitely thinks they're on the ipod. I've tried deleting them and reuploading, but they still don't show up on the nano.
The missing songs are just standard mp3s, and play fine on my computer. There's no difference between the 2 missing ones and the 1 that does show up that I can tell.
Also, another bug is that the nano is displaying one of my artists twice in the Artist listing, even though the name is exactly identical. This is what is shows:

The 2nd entry is because I have one song which has a different artist name in the ID3 tags. But entries 1 and 3 are exactly identical - clicking on them brings me to the same exact set of songs.
I never had these bugs with my iPod mini. Are these known bugs in the nano firmware?

There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder.

That's not a reset pin. There is no reset hole in which to poke it. Neither is there a reset button. It is the SIM removal tool. If you had it, it would save you the agony of finding a paper clip.

I have worked with a laptop and a desktop, saving the files to an external hard drive so I can work within both PC systems, but I still am gettting the worng code message.
Help~AVI is not a format in its own right. It is a container for video clips. Those clips may be one of very many formats. Follow this trouble shooting article and remember to post the GSpot screen capture here.

Brand new Nano freezes on songs. Have to reset every time I use it.
I bought a new 2 Gig Nano last month. Nearly every time I play music, it freezes before starting the first song. I have to reset it (holding down the center and top buttons) to get it started again. After the reset, it works fine.
Any suggestions? Should I bring it back to the Apple Store?Try a restore first.

I plugged in my brand new nano to my husbands desktop to get it registered, but had a problem mid way through when I tried to used an apple login that already existed. Now it's not registered and the computer won't recognize my device. How do I fix this?

I have CDs, legally purchased and uploaded to iTunes (v9.1.0.79)...they were on a harddrive and now I tried to play on my new computer (iTunes v11.0.2.26), but whilst the files appear intact they skip through each song in seconds...why? and how to fix?
I don't recognise the symptoms as such, but here are a couple of things to try.
Check all tracks
Unchecked tracks are skipped during normal track to track playback. Go to the Songs view and CTRL-click on an empty checkbox, or CTRL-click on a filled one twice. This will ensure all tracks are checked.
Repair permissions
To make sure that your iTunes folder (or media folder if located separately) has the correct permissions, right-click on the folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but later versions of Windows shouldn't be too different.
You can also clear the Read-Only flag for the entire library from the Properties dialog.

I recently updated my ios. Songs i imported after the update, even though their composer and artists already exist, appears as songs with new composers and artists. I double checked that the names are identical (no spaces and other stupid mistakes). How can i mix the composers and artists?
Flash does allow more than one frame - that is one of the foundations of working with it. You can restrict yourself to using just one frame if you like, but it is not required and very often people use the timeline instead of keeping things in one place.
I have no familiarity with Director, but what you just described sounds like designing using the timeline of Flash. With Flash you can use the timeline in the fashion you just described where different pages occupy different frames of the timeline and you can navigate from one to another. You are not stuck with one frame in Flash... you can create a new keyframe at any point along the timeline and add new/different content to it, while retaining a menu that exists across all pages (or not - it's your choice).. -
New Nano skipping through songs
Today is the first day I've listened to my brand new Nano 8GB. It was fine at first, then a song (track 3) that I had just listened to an hour before wouldn't play - the screen would freeze for a second and would skip to track 7, then 15, then 17 on its own. Same exact thing every time I tried to listen to track 3. I reset the iPod and the problem was gone, but I understand this may be a common problem? I'm using Windows 2000 and only have tracks from CD, not from iTunes. Should I take it back to the Apple store?

I use Time Machine to back up my entire computer with my external hard drive. I am getting a brand new iMac this month and was wondering what is the process of using this back up to restore my new computer exactly how my old computer was? I want to make sure I will still have various important files on my new computer, like my songs in iTunes, my photos in iPhoto, etc, etc. Thanks so much in advance!

When you turn on the new iMac for the first time, Setup Assistant will ask you to restore a backup, so connect the external disk and follow steps to restore all your files to your new iMac. Your new Mac will have the same settings and programs as your old computer.
In other cases, I would recommend to restore the whole backup without using Migration Assistant or Setup Assistant, but a Late 2012 iMac uses a special OS X build, so the OS X version that you're using on your old Mac won't work on the new one. Brand new Nano: screen fade out?
Brand new Nano...the screen will fade to mostly white, however you can still faintly see the icons and it will operate but the whole screen is covered with the fade out effect that normally is confined to the right edge of artist/album/song names that are too long to fit on screen.
It seems to have happened mainly when it was plugged into the MBP USB slot to charge/sync.
Has anyone seen this? Is this a malfunction that warrants return? Is this normal?yeah, definitely not normal. I find folks describing white screen with the logo and black screens but no one with this "faded" screen. I can faintly see the controls and they will move, but you can hardly use the thing.
it's going back to BestBuy before the return policy expires. This is the first Apple product I've purchased that has failed to live up to it's expected operation. In that it has failed miserably. So, it will be ditched. -

The ! sign before the song means that the actual song is no longer on your computer and/or iTunes library.
