Brand new nano w/ bad battery?

the battery is runs down when the thing is off. as quickly as overnight, the the battery is completely depleted.
i swear i have followed all the directions for turning it off - including using the "hold" switch! if i was listening to it, it should/would have a longer battery life.
could it be a faulty unit?

i have the same problem, but mine goes dead immediately after i unhook it from the computer. i'll let you know if i find anything out.

  • Brand new Nano: screen fade out?

Brand new Nano...the screen will fade to mostly white, however you can still faintly see the icons and it will operate but the whole screen is covered with the fade out effect that normally is confined to the right edge of artist/album/song names that are too long to fit on screen.
It seems to have happened mainly when it was plugged into the MBP USB slot to charge/sync.
Has anyone seen this? Is this a malfunction that warrants return? Is this normal?

yeah, definitely not normal. I find folks describing white screen with the logo and black screens but no one with this "faded" screen. I can faintly see the controls and they will move, but you can hardly use the thing.
it's going back to BestBuy before the return policy expires. This is the first Apple product I've purchased that has failed to live up to it's expected operation. In that it has failed miserably. So, it will be ditched.

  • Brand new nano 7th gen, firmware file corrupt, running windows 7

brand new nano 7th gen, running windows 7, on first plugin I get the message "the ipod XXXX could not be updated because the firmware file was corrupt"  The strange thing is that it gave my nano a name - maybe confused with an old ipod??

  • Brand new Nano 7th gen has no sound!

Brand new Nano 7th gen has no sound. I've tried 3 different headphones, turned volume up, watched the bar indicate the song is on play, cannot find a mute switch (or indicator on screen) and can't understand why I can't hear music. Can there be an earphone jack problem on a brand new Nano? Help please!

Are the headphones plugged all the way in? Does the FM radio work?

  • Brand new Nano 7g screen won't slide one music downloaded

I've bought a brand new Nano 7g, and once I've loaded my music the screen won't slide.  I took it back and exchanged it, and the same thing happened, but it was fine before I loaded my stuff because I checked.  I though it must be a duff batch, so I got a refund and went elsewhere, but the same has happened again, so it must be something I've done?

By fiddling around I seem to have fixed it, but thanks for looking, was really at the end of my tether!

  • Brand new nano, will not sync, still says do not disconnect

I have a brand new nano that does not seem to want to sync with my itunes. Each time I plug it in it asks me to name the iPod, which I do, then it says updating, do not disconnect. So once itunes is done updating the nano still says do not disconnect. So everytime I have to eject it properly and it never updates with the information from my itunes. It also has a bunch of orange space that it says is being used on the capacity bar and there is no information on the iPod. I have restored it back to factory settings and no luck... I have also taken it in to the Apple Genius Bar and they said it wad fixed and it wasn't so then they gave me a new one and it has the same problem...HELP!

  • New iPod touch bad battery life? Already tried tips and support said nothing is wrong...

I just got a new ipod the other day because my 4th gen had a really bad battery(it was very old). When I tried my new one out, I noticed it was just as bad. I tried all the powers saving tips but unfortunately they do not work. I called apple yesterday and they said it was fine( they looked at the battery through the diagnostics thing I think). Anyone know what to do?

We'll, I don't know a full charge, but it was at about 80-90% yesterday when I took it off the charger. All I did was listen to iTunes Radio and use my snapchat on and off and I got the 20% warning in less than an hour

  • Brand new nano having trouble updating, maintaining song permissions

My mom got a brand new 4g nano for Christmas. We brought it down to her computer, which is running Windows XP 2003 with update package 3.
We cannot get the ipod and itunes to work together. Here are some of the problems:
    - My mom bought two songs from the itunes store after she hooked up her iPod. However, anytime she tries to update, itunes says that the computer is not authorized to play the songs. We go through the authorization process, but the same error pops up immediately after. However, we can still play the songs through iTunes and on the iPod.
    - We tried to update the ipod software to the latest version, but about halfway through the update the ipod disconnects. The ipod no longer shows up in the sidebar, but the update progress box still appears. Then an error box pops up saying the ipod cannot be updated and gives the error number 1436.
    - I tried resetting the ipod by toggling the hold switch and holding the center and menu key, but when it powers back up it still shows that there are songs on the ipod.
We've tried uninstallng and reinstalling itunes, and connecting the ipod through a different USB port. It is not on a high speed USB port, could this be part of the problem?
Any insight or tips would be greatly appreciated-- we want to help her get this going!
    Thanks!

Try the steps you haven't in this article.
As for the music problem try fully deauthorize the computer and reauthorize it again. If that doesn't work then try deauthorizing all the computers on the account. Steps for both are in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
The fact that you are not using a high-powered USB ports can be causing a problem, make sure they are at least 2.0 ports.
Also, when you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes did you follow this article? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
If you didn't then I would suggest it. I've had all these problems separately in the past so I feel for ya.

  • Can't install brand new nano

I'm aware that there are a ton of topics like this already, but I figured I'd post a clean one. I have a brand new HP laptop with Vista and a brand new 4g ipod nano. When I try to install the ipod, I get a screen saying "Insert the disc that came with your ipod." Since that's not possible, the other option is "I don't have the disc." The options are "check for a solution"(which doesn't find anything) and browse my computer. Does anyone know what to do from here? Thank you

Finally! I found the answer after a lot of searching. Here's what to do if you hae the same problem.
"I eventually got around it another way. It seemed that Vista wasn't looking for the drivers in the correct place. I just waited for the wizard to ask for the location of where the files are located, and typed in C:\WINDOWS\System32. Then the computer installed the drivers properly (detected and installed as ipod). Then another found new hardware popped up and i also pointed it to C:\WINDOWS\System32. This installed as generic volume. So all fixed!
Above, I was asked to type C:\WINDOWS\INF - That did not work."
YOu have to do this a bunch of times till all of the drivers are installed.
I found this on google-here's the link for the rest of the discussion- http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/697583.html

  • Brand new MSI GE70 2OC battery won't charge

    Hi all
I have a rare issue related with the laptop power system of a brand new GE70 2OC: basically, the battery won't charge.
-In Windows 8, with the battery installed and charger connected to the laptop: the battery does not charge and drains.
-If I boot with a linux live cd, exactly the same happens: there's no charging, and the battery is draining.
And here we go with the mess...:
-If I start windows8 only with the charger connected (battery removed), the computer turns on properly, windows start booting, but before showing the home screen, the laptop turns off. As if power were suddenly removed.
-If I start the same way (only with charger, battery removed), and entered the bios, I can stay here forever: laptop doesn't turn off until I wan't.
-If I start the same way (only with charger, battery removed) with a linux live cd, I can work without problems every time I wan't
It's very strange... If the battery is not dead, I think may be some kind of BIOS or firmware issue, because the failure of "battery not charging" appears in any situation (turned off, in bios, in windows, in linux).
The charger is not broken. It runs smoothly without battery in bios and linux.
I tried a EC Reset. Nothing happens... ¿Any idea?

    Thank you both
I'm still in the 7 days money back guarantee from the seller. I've contacted the shop, but still expecting for news.

  • New Iphone 4s bad battery life?

I just got a new iphone about a week ago. Brand new, fresh out of the box. But I was noticing that the battery wasn't too great. It would lose 10-15% just by having it off in a locker for 6 hours a day. For each two minutes it is in use, I lose 2-3% depending on what app I'm using. I know it isn't that big of the deal, but my phone goes from 100% to 0% in a little over 2 hours of continuous use. My Ipad definently lasts lonegr than this, and the box claims the phone should last up to 8 hours of continuous use.

Restore your iPhone with current iTunes on your computer, at end when prompted, Set Up as New iPhone. See if the battery performance is better. If not, then make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

  • Cant even tell what's wrong... everything is brand new and behaving badly... help

I have a brand new Dell (never used until today) that I've installed 3 items on... one is firefox, another is adobe design standard CS4...
and then I updated Flash Player because apparently my brand new adobe suite didn't include the latest player.  The download manager said installation complete.  It restarted my open tabs and everything seemed fine until I tried to enlarge pix in ebay.  The download manager opens up and eventually I get this error that doesn't go away very easily:
Setup has determined that the following programs are running. Please close them before continuing the installation of the 'Adobe Download Manager'.
    "getPlusPlus_adobe.exe"
I'd love to fix it.  But I'd also just like to use a brand new program that I just spent $600 on without contacting forums about it.  forgive my venting and please help if you can.
    thanks...
