Brand new print cartridge is damaged

I purchased a 3-pack of 901XL print cartridges from Sam's Club several months ago.  I used 2 without any problems, but when I opened the third, the cartridge is damaged and unusable.  The copper strip is partially torn and there's a hole in the cartridge.  The packaging was not damaged in any way, so the damage had to occur in the manufacturer's factory before packaging. I can't return the cartridge since it was purchased several months ago, and I doubt if I still have the receipt.  I'd like HP to exchange it, but I can't find any way to contact support to ask.  Does anyone have ideas?  Thanks....

As some programs do work and others dont its most likely not an hardware issue. As wel that printing from a memory chip works as wel proves this. So its most likley a software issue.
On the software disc of the printer find the Folder UTIL, and in there find the folder CCC. In that folder there should be a file called Uninstall_L4.bat (with or without the .bat added to it depending on your computers settings. Run that file and it will remove and cleanup your software. Reinstall it after that and try know.

  • Brand new ink cartridges, cleaned, still not printing

Recurring problem on this printer, nothing helps.  Brand new ink cartridges, cleaned the inkheads twice, read though solutions for de-clogging the vents.  Able to print documents fine this morning, now---nothing.  Black ink not printing.  Frustrating, this is a recurring problem and am tired of going through more ink.  Ran alignment, just says "alignment failed" but no solutions offered/no troubleshooting given.  Suggestions?

    Hi @OL5,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP Photosmart is not printing black. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
For further assistance, I will need to know:
The Product/Model Number of your printer. Follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, or USB.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
If you are using genuine HP ink cartridges, or refills.
Once I know this information, I will be happy to do some further research for you.
    Thank you for posting!

  • Both my HP D4360 and my HP 940C printers have brand-new HP cartridges in them and neither one print

Both my HP D4360 and my HP 940C printers have brand-new HP cartridges in them and neither one of them print correctly (half way). I made sure that the cartridges bleed out very well (on a damp paper towel until ink bleeds out) yet the characters come out very skipped, lined and in short, look terrible. Both printers should have been covered under the lawsuit against HP but I've yet to see a dime and I've been through more cartridges than I can count. With that said, I'm open to hearing any type of device short of thrilling the printer out the window of a 30 story building window because they both should work quite well. Any suggestions, ideas or what should I do next because I'm quite frustrated and the money doesn't grow on trees in my neighborhood or checking account. • Tired of getting On-Screen Message about aligning new print cartridges.

    Hello,
I have an hp Deskjet 5440 Printer. Every few minutes I'm getting the message (on the monitor screen): "If you have just installed a new print cartridge it is recommended that you align it. Click on "Align" to align your new print cartridge."
I use generic ink cartridges which the printer does not recognize so I never go through the alignment process.  I did not like using the alignment process even before I started  using generic cartridges because it seemed to be a waste of paper, ink, and time. So, whether I'm using generic or hp cartridges I'm getting the message - over & over & over. It really takes the fun out of using my computer. Can anyone tell me how to stop these #$%^* messages?
    Thank you,
    Bakwtr

The way to stop the alignment messages is to complete the alignment process.  Regardless whether the cartridges are new or refilled the alignment process should be done. In addition to the alignment (necessary for best print quality, you may not care) the process also sets the correct operating energy for the printheads. This is important to get the best quality and also life from the cartridges.  The amount of ink used in the alignment is tiny, particularly compared to the ink that may be wasted if the printer is not using the correct printhead energy (and temperature).

Hello , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are not able to print in black ink on your HP Deskjet 3522. You have done the cleaning recommendations and replaced the cartridges with no success. Please make sure you have not missed any steps in the following document; Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage an...
Although the printer might be out of warranty, if the issue persists, HP may be able to offer you something. Maybe they can offer you a discount on an alternate model. Please call our technical support at www.hp.com/contacthp/. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.  I hope this helps. If this resolves the issue, please let me know so we can help others who may be experiencing the same issue.

  • Installed all new printer cartridges but prints blank pages

I installed brand new official HP ink cartridges today. I aligned the cartidges, cleaned the printer head, etc and it just prints a blank page?

The post here has links to a troubleshooting document for the Photosmart 6520.  If the steps there do not resolve the issue please call HP Support, even if the printer is not longer under warranty.  In the US or Canada call 1-800-HPINVENt, elsewhere see the document here for contact information.  If the above does not give satisfactory results then please post back here with details including your country.

  • Why can't I use brand new 564 cartridges in place of 920 cartridges?

Had to replace my old Photosmart Premium Fax C309 series printer with an Officejet 6500A.  Problem is, I have all these brand new 564 ink cartridges for the old printer, which fit properly into the new printer.  But when I installed the 564's in the new printer, I got a message saying (in essence) "Hey!  You can't do that!"
    Why not?

I just happened to come across this post and had to respond.
First I thought this was a sarcastic reply to the original question, but then I began thinking, this is probably a real response.  They were probably really trying to be helpful.  Unfortunately it turns out that they wasted not only their own time in responding, but at least 67 others that have viewed the post.  What makes matters worse, this person is probably employed by HP.
HP used to be a great company with tremendous products and support.  Now they seem to just push out cheaper and cheaper printers and constantly are changing ink cartridges in hopes of making people waste brand new cartridges.  And their support has gone WAY down hill.  What used to be arguably the best support is now near the bottom.  Other than AT&T's support, I can't think of one worse than HP's now.
    Way to go Carly Fiorina!!!

  • HP C309g Photosmart Premium Printer - bought new printer cartridges and not printing correctly

I just replaced all 5 of the printer cartridges for the first time today.  When I look at the ink levels they are all showing full but when I print it is showing the following:
Photo Black: Shows a Magenta color
    Magenta: Shows Magenta
    Cyan: Blank
    Yellow: Blank
    Black: shows black.
I tried taking out and putting in again.  Also tried the clean cartridges function. Still not working correctly. Printing only black and magenta.
    Please help.

I am having the same problem.  The first time it happened, I just unplugged the printer and waited a few seconds and then replugged.  It rebooted and work fine for a while.  Now it will not scan and the reboot does not work.   i have seen other posts about this same problem.

  • I want the feeder on top to pick up the paper and does not work. Brand new printer.

I have a new printer HP Office Pro 8610 and the paper on tope does not feed. It did for one or two times and stopped.  I did not buy a warranty. I expected the printer to work. Please help.

The document here may help resolve issues with the ADF not feeding properly on your Officejet Pro 8620.
If the above does not resolve the issue - what country are you in?  There is generally a one year warranty included for HP printers. You can check with HP's warranty tool here.  In the US or Canada you could call HP at 1-800-HPINVENt, elsewhere see the contact information here.

  • Issue with HP 4225 officejet , Not accepting New Print Cartridge

    dear Sir,
My HP officejet 4225 all in one is not accepting the New cartridge ( black 27b). From last few days i am experincing horrible things in printer which i m not able to understand, like from two three days it takes 15 minutes to print one page.
it starts printing ,prints one line and stop, wait for 1 min again prints few lines again become silent.in this way it takes 10 mins to print one normal page.
Yesterday it starts displaying error message "Remove and check right cartridge".I checked it ,cleaned the surface of black catridge (27b)but nothing happen.i installed an old empty catrdige (27b) it started working again. i replaced it with the existing cartridge it displays the same message.
Today I bought a new cartridge ( 27b) after instaaling it again display the same error message. I replaced with another very old cartridge (27) it again works ,it just displays black cartridge Empty.
now i m surprised a running printer suddenly not accepting the installed cartridge. accepting the old cartridges not accepting new cartridge.
one more thing the speed of printing has become normal after this incidence. I did a facory reset two days ago to check wether speed of printing improves or not? but it didnot improved however with the issue of cartridges ,when using old crtrdige (27b, 27) using only colour printout the printing speed is ok. i,e it does not start and stop.
pls help with this issue . i m totally stuck.
    Thanking you,
    Rahul Vijay

Oh, I don't think you are stuck with USB.  From your post above:
When I select network, I get three options:
    View Network settings
    Restore Network Defaults
    Advanced
With the Ethernet unplugged, select the middle one.  Then reset your router by removing its power for a few seconds, then plug back in.  Turn the printer off then back on.
Finally, plug in the Ethernet cable.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Help after new printer cartridges installed

I just replaced both cartridges on the HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-one and all I get is a flashing yellow !, and the message refer to printer documentation.  I have replaced cartridges before and never have had this problem.  What does this mean?  What do I do to fix it.  Just want to print something ASAP.

I installed a new hp Magenta cartridge, but I get a message that says:  "To print in color, install the following cartridgees:  Magenta...."   I tried to unplug the printer and plug it back in, but that didn't work either.

  • Brand new color cartridges won't work.

I recently replaced all my ink cartridges (3 color and 1 black) in my Photosmart 6510. The printer status shows full ink on all cartridges, but it will not print in color. Everything prints black, or just a blank sheet of paper. I have tried re-installing the cartridges, turning off the printer, unplugging the printer. I get an error message when I try "aligining the cartridges".

    Hello kimchamard,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your Photosmart 6510 will not print color ink. I will do my best to assist you! Please follow this entire HP document on Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems.
Try printing a print quality diagnostic page to verify if this comes out with color or not. If not, please try cleaning the printhead which should improve the quality.
I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
    Have a great night!
