Brand New Quad....10.4.2 and no ilife 06?

I just bought a brand new quad powermac and it came with 10.4.2 and no ilife '06. I know I can update the 10.4.2 part and probley get the ilife software for '06 somehow, but my question is.....
Were their revisions? Is there a way for me to see what rev #? I don't mind updating the system via updates etc but it seems if you pay Apple for a New Quad you should get what is advertised plus I'm wondering if Apple has upgraded any tiny parts to the machine since then...or rev #'s.
Thoughts???
Thanks!!!

Ok, you have answered my questions and gave me a cool site to look at, Thanks!
One last question though...
When I bought my imac g5 a little while after I began hearing people in the forums calling it a rev a model and later they had a rev b model because Apple had fixed a hardware problem I thought. If we (the people in the forums) make up the terms rev a, b, etc...then what made us decide when to call it a rev b? Even though there is no rev b on the apple imac history page...didn't they correct or change the hardware that was having problems in the original imac? I guess what I'm saying is.....even though Apple doesn't call it "rev b" it is still a corrected version of the original imac which is why I was wondering if there was any changes to this hardware.
But, since nobody has posted anything...it must be clear and no hardware problems known for this machine. (unlike the Macbook Pro I think)
Thanks Mike!

Also, I am trying to connect my Mini from the mini-Displayport to the Displayport of my Dell U2410 monitor.  The image is very grainy, even though it is set to the correct resolution: 1920 X 1200 at 60Hz.  If I use HDMI to VGA input, the image is much clearer.  Is there a way to get the Displayport to work?

I'm having exactly the same keyboard issue.  Certainly nothing has ever enhanced my concentration while coding like suddenly becoming unable to type.
I'm seeing a great many devicemgr and rake errors in my system log.  I don't know if they're related.  How 'bout you?
If you're unfamiliar with the system log…
    Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
If necessary, choose View > Show Log List.
system.log is at the top of the FILES section.
Try searching it for hot words like DEBUG, FATAL, and aborted.
I've found some discussions that would tend to indicate my errors are postGres related – I'm running OS X server.

Since you don't really have a question, I will give you a very broad information source for the next time you have a Time Machine question.
Please visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine.
Oh, you cannot use a computer whose only disk drive is the target of a an OS X cloning operation regardless of what software is used for the clone. You can, however, use the source drive except if you try to clone using Disk Utility.

  • Brand new computer is super slow and makes a clicking noise

My brand new computer is super slow and makes a clicking noise. Any suggestions? I have a lenovo X120e, purchased it around 2 months ago but due to moving across the country just started using it, not so happy so far but I would be happier if it would speed up a bit. Every click takes a while to register especially during browsing on the internet.

Can you run the ThinkVantage Toolbox's HDD diagnostics?
Alternatively, try HD Tune's error scan and check it's SMART page for warnings.

  • Both my HP D4360 and my HP 940C printers have brand-new HP cartridges in them and neither one print

Both my HP D4360 and my HP 940C printers have brand-new HP cartridges in them and neither one of them print correctly (half way). I made sure that the cartridges bleed out very well (on a damp paper towel until ink bleeds out) yet the characters come out very skipped, lined and in short, look terrible. Both printers should have been covered under the lawsuit against HP but I've yet to see a dime and I've been through more cartridges than I can count. With that said, I'm open to hearing any type of device short of thrilling the printer out the window of a 30 story building window because they both should work quite well. Any suggestions, ideas or what should I do next because I'm quite frustrated and the money doesn't grow on trees in my neighborhood or checking account. • I bought a brand new MacBook Pro Mid 2014, and my battery cycle count is on 2!!

As I said on the question, a brand new MacBook Pro I bought recently which I haven't even put on charge yet already has a cycle count of 2!
I'm just curious if this is normal and I want to make sure that I received a brand "new" one not a refurbished one.
Did anyone else order a new laptop and have cycle charge of 2 or more and is this normal or not?

The factory charges the battery, one cycle, they may then test that particular MacBook Pro as part of the production testing and it ends up with another cycle.  Two cycles is not something to worry about.  If you bought the unit from an Apple store or directly from Apple, it will not be a refurbished MBPr unless they specifically said it was.  They don't do things like that.

  • I just opened my brand new iPod touch 4th generation, and it's frozen with green, vertical lines. Does it have to be replaced?

It's Christmas morning and my parents bought me a new iPod Touch 4th Generation 4G 32GB. I started charging it, 5mins later I walked back into my room and there I saw it - frozen, white screen with light green, vertical lines. It's brand new, and I just opened it about 5mins prior. I never dropped it, it never touched water. My mum bought it at the nearby Target. I opened it, in it's case and everything. So I have no clue what happened. I really hope the workers at Target didn't just sell me a broken iPod. This really stinks, and I really hope somebody can help me. I feel terrible for my mum having spent so much on it. So please, someone help me out.

Hello planb77 / PANIDORA, I'm having the same problem. I'm using my iPhone 5S or my iPad Mini cable and wall charger to do it (both originals) , and the iPod Shuffle does not charge at all, doesn't matter if is direct on the wall or trough my Macbook Air.I 've restored it once, but nothing has changed. What else can I do?

  • Bug with BRAND NEW osx 10.8.3 and adobe Reader 11.0.03

    can you help??
i download a .pdf from internet to desktop, flash or harddrive then try to open but then get these error messages -- ON MY BRAND NEW COMPUTER
"There was an error opening this document. There was a problem reading this document (14)."
"There was an error opening this document. The root object is missing or invalid."
    thanks!!

This is a known issue with Safari 6 and the PDF plugin.
Download the offline installer from here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Save it, but don't run it yet
    Go to: Mac HD/Applications
Trash the Reader 11 Application from there
    Go to: MacHD/library/Internet Plugins
    Trash the AdobePDFviewer.plugin from there
    Trash the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin also
    Empty the trash
Mount the DMG and run the installer to reinstall Reader
When it finishes, reboot and open Reader from the Applications folder
Accept the License Agreement and then close Reader
Launch Safari and go to: Safari>Preferences
Under the Security Tab, make sure "Allow all other plugins" is checked
You should be able to view and download PDFs without any errors

  • This is a stupid question, I got this iPhone brand new a few days ago and my cat just chewed my earbud wires and it doesn't work anymore. Can Apple replace them for me?

My earbuds got chewed up by my cat and they are brand new just got the phone 4 days ago

If you charge your cat rent to live with you (assuming your cat has a job), then you can add the cost of replacement to the rent or take it out of the security deposit. With your new funds, you can go to Apple and buy a new pair of headphones. Hope this helps.

  • I received a brand new iPhone as a gift and I was using it totally fine and the next minute it was blacklisted any help?

I received an iPhone as a gift which was factory sealed and brand new. I was using it fine and one day it suddenly said no service so I called my service provider up and they said that my iPhone has been blacklisted. I don't understand why it has been blacklisted when it was factory sealed. So my service provider asked if I can show them proof of purchase and I said to them that I have to ask the person that gave it to me. So when I asked the person they said they bought it from the Internet and the only thing they have is an invoice, nothing else and they can't get hold of the person they actually bought it off. So what can I do now, can somebody please help me, as I've done nothing wrong.

A common scam in the UK is to order an iPhone using an available upgrade from a carrier, report it missing or stolen from the post, then re-sell it for cash and get a replacement from the carrier. The original will be blacklisted.
Ask whoever gave it to you where they actually got it from. Sounds like they either got scammed or they themselves are trying to defraud their carrier.

  • Brand new 5c making random calls and sending emails while locked

my husband's brand new 2 day old 5c is making random calls, facetime calls and sending emails while locked and not in use.  i have read that this is an ongoing issue, but have not seen a solution for it.  any suggestions?

if you search "random calls" there are several threads, one of which started in 2010.  i will try turning off voice dial and hope that solves the issue.  will report back tomorrow with an update.

  • Brand new Macbook Pro keeps crashing and restarting - Mavericks

Hey guys, I just got a new Macbook Pro on Monday and my first time turning it on it was perfect, the next day I turned it on and kept crashing and "Restarting due to a problem", it wouldn't even make to to the log in page. Every time I power it up now I get the same issue over and over, once I make it passed the log in it is usually fine but does crash sometimes randomly but not much.
I have read here that updating to Mavericks has caused this problem but surely when it came with it and is less than a week old it should be fine? (I'm confused as to why the report says my Mac is Mid 2012, I just bought it!!) Also the only software I have installed is Microsoft Office. I do have Silverlight Plug in installed for Netflix which I read can be an issue with Mavericks.
I downloaded EtreCheck and this is the report I have. Please any help will be great!

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Brand New 80GB Ipod connects on and off with my usb cable

hi, i just got a new 80gb ipod for xmas, and when i plug the usb cable to my ipod, it connects sometimes, and sometimes doesnt, and when it does, it disconnects sometimes too, i usually have to keep moving into different usb ports and one will work, then not work again, then work again later. i even tried my friends cable and its the same thing, i think somethings wrong with the port in the ipod, can anyone help ?

Turn it off.  If it got wet somehow, you may try drying your ipod off.  The slow method would be a sunny window sill.  You could use a hair dryer on LOW, pointing it at the contacts.  When it drys out, charge itand try a hard-reset. If it still doesn't function properly....  ?
