  • Bought brand new Toshiba A500 laptop, but no Windows 7-64 CD/DVD

Bought brand new Toshiba A500 laptop, but no Windows 7-64 CD/DVD's came with it, just the programs installed on the computer. Since I have been a long-time Dell customer, where all programs installed also come with various CDs/DVDs, I am rather surprised, especially when you consider that I bought a complete Win 7 Utl OS. Where are the discs? For me this can be a future deal breaker. Is Toshiba so confident that their machines will never need to see an OS disc?

they havent put the discs in with there products for a few year now. there is a recovery partition on the hard drive you can use for a recovery. they also have a program called recovery media creator on your laptop to make your own recovery media. it is a way that if people dont make the recovery media you have to call and order some and toshiba gets another $25 for the user. there is a section in your users guide( search users guide in start menu) about page 60 shows how to recover from partition.
    hope that helps

  • Toshiba satelite E45-B4200 wont boot up

Hi , I recently bought my Toshiba satelite E45-B4200. Unfortunately for last couple of days my system wont boot up. I dont think its a windows issue beacause i dont even see the toshiba logo which usually shows while booting up the system. When i power it on, The LED light around power button lights up for a second and then turns off autometically and nothing happens. Here is what i already tried : 1. Pressed the Power button for more than 30 Second while charging adopter was connected.( Power light indicator at the front blinked once)2. Tried  pressing Power button for more than 30 Second disconnecting the power adopter. ( Power light indicator at the front blinked once)3. Removed battery and connected to power adopter only then tried booting up . Did not work as well .  I was trying to access the RAM inside but it turns out there was no easy access. Can anyone help me out to reslove this please? Does anyone have a disassemble guide or a Video tutorial ?  TIA

Sounds like you may have a short in the motherboard, you may also have a bad charger. If the battery is too low it can cause these symptoms. I would try to obtain another power supply and attempt to turn it on with it, If that fails I would send it in for repair.

  • Brand new ipod 7th gen wont syn or turn on, please help!

Just tried to syn my brand new ipod nano 7th generation but have encountered problems that I'm certain should not be happened as this has never happened to me before now.
Firstly, it said that I had to update itunes, which I did.
Then, registered my ipod but it wouldnt sync and everytime I tried plugging it in an icon flashed up that said it was corrupted. This was followed by another window telling me to update my ipod. Clicked on it and a strange white screen came up on the ipod screen that said ok to disconnect with a tick (but not how it usually looks) I have tried resetting it several times by holding down the "sleep" button and then the screen just went black - not the apple logo to say that it was resetting or anything.
Now it wont turn on or register when I plug it into itunes...
Anyone got any suggestions or solutions? Thanks

    Whats ur warrenty on it?
Just go return it for a new one if its brand new and they will give u a new one. Thats the easiest solution as far as Im concerned

  • Brand New MBPr Issues From 1st Boot

    Morning all,
Just purchased the top of the range 15" MBPr, (1TB SSD 16GB RAM) and have had issues with it from 1st boot.
I'm hoping I can sort these (just switched from windows) as I will have to return it if not.
On 1st power on the setup ran and locked up for 30+ minutes when trying to enable the icloud drive.  It eventually completed, and after enabling FileVault (this was enabled by default) I had the issue where it kept asking for the power adapter to resume encryption even though it was plugged in.
I ended up calling Apple support who advised me, to erase the disk and reinstall OSX Yosemite from the recovery partition.
After waiting 4+ hours for the downloads to complete the reinstall had issues with drawing the pages, for example if I clicked back, the text on the page didn't change, but the dialog boxes did.  I ended up powering it off and restarting the setup which did go OK.  I have now enabled FileVault and sat babysitting it whilst it encrypted to ensure no issues.
I then installed the latest OSX update (10.10.1) and now shutdown takes a lot longer, the background greys out, and I get the spinning iPhone style icon (not the beach ball).
I'm really starting to lose confidence in the machine, and after spending over £2000 on it I feel it should be performing better.
Has anyone got any tips on what I do to improve things, or have they seen this before with a brand new clean build before I give up and return it?
    Thanks
    Darren

  • Brand new MacBook Pro 2012 not booting install of Mountain Lion

    Hi,
I have a brand new 15" MacBook Pro 2012 model (2.6Ghz, 8GB Ram) - works fine on OS X Lion. As I had just bought it I decided to upgrade it to Mountain Lion straight away, and here's where the problems start.
After apparent install the machine re-boots, but upon re-boot I get what I have found to be called 'the grey screen of death' where the loading icon disappears and the apple logo appears and the screen dulls slightly. I have also noticed that through the install process I lose keyboard and trackpad funcionality and the 'spinning wheel of death' froze, even though the loading icon contined to countdown the minutes till install.
I have read many threads online now about how to reboot and reinstall OS X Lion, I have done this succesfully. I managed to save the OS X Mountain Lion files to an external device and attempt to reboot that way - same problems!
How on earth do I get OS X Mountain Lion working on this machine?
From the threads I have read no one has answered this - they simply answer how to reboot into OS X Lion. Others have stated that they have been in to see Apple's "Genuis" bar and the "Genious's" cannot explain the problem and attempt to put it down to hard drive failures etc. Problem is, there seems to be a **** of a lot of people out there with the same issue - surely it's OS problems and not hardware if it's a brand new MacBook?
Has anyone else experienced this? And does anyone else have a solution to my problem?
For the record, I have updated my EFI and firmware as well as my operating system before attempting install.
    Cheers,
    Leigh

  • BRAND NEW Mac Pro won't boot from Leopard DVD, kernel panics!

I just received my brand new Mac Pro today. It's a BTO machine with the upgrade to the NVIDIA 8800GT, a second optical drive and a Mac OS X Server license. The system has Mac OS X server installed on the default 320GB drive. I decided to use the server license as a virtual machine running in Leopard client. So, I installed 2 new 500GB Seagate 7200.11 (Retail) drives in the machine, zeroed them out in prep for installing Leopard client.
At this point, I pop in a freshly-purchased retail copy of the Leopard DVD and restart. When I try to boot from the DVD and install Leopard to one of the new Seagate drives, I get kernel panics - need to restart the machine. Also tried booting from the Mac OS X Server DVD and this too only caused kernel panics. The DVD's read perfectly from within Mac OS X Server and boot from hard disks is flawless.
I spent an hour on the phone with a level 2 tech at Apple - Tried swapping out the RAM and moving around the DIMMS to no avail. I am at a loss to what this could be. Seems to be a hardware issue and the tech thought it was likely a problem with one of the memory risers but couldn't send replacements. Anyone else with a similar issue?
This is my first Mac and it looks like this Mac Pro is going back for an exchange and I'll have to wait yet another 10-12 days for a replacement to arrive. Bummer.
Am I missing something simple here? Does this seem to be a hardware issue?
If anyone has any ideas before I ship this one back, please write!!!

New Mac Pros will not install the Leopard retail disc. They will only install the Leopard disc which shipped with them labeled Mac Pro. That has always been true. Macs can only boot the system that ships on DVD in the box that came with them, and newer retail releases. They can never boot from an older retail release than what shipped in the box.

  • Reset my computer to brand new and now it wont syncnew songsin libary

had to make my computer like it was brand new and lost everything...well i re downloaded itunes and added some songs to the libary but when i hook up my ipod it wont add those songs onto it...does anyone know whats goin on?

The OS you listed I'm guessing isn't Win ME but Win XP Media Center Edition correct? There is a OS thats called Win Me and its not supported by itunes/ipod. Also when you say "had to make my computer like new", you meant to say is I formatted my pc and didn't make a backup.
The pod was designed to be a one way device. Meaning that itunes to ipod is the only direction. You can do a couple things, one get software that will exact the songs for you. Or if you are tech savvy enough to make the hidden folders appear you can copy the tracks yourself.
If you want to use the software to extract then use the search for "ipod to pc" and you'll find threads with hyperlinks.

  • Brand New T430 and Failure to Install Windows Updates

I have built many systems as well as purchased and configured laptops but this one has me stumped.  I have attempted several times to intall Windows updates on my brand new T430 but when the system goes to install them it eventually says that there was a failure to do so and the laptop will revert back.  Thinking it might be due to updates via wirelessly I have tried it via ethernet connection but with the same results.
I have tried it by turning off security software and the firewall but the same thing occurs.
    Please, any tips here?  Thanks.

basically, install KB2647753 all by itself, first. once complete, with any needed reboot, the others will install successfully.

  • New Neo 4 Platinum Wont boot past WIN XP :(

Hi, Im hoping someone can help me, I just built my system, its
    MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
    AMD 64 3200+ 939 0.09
    2 x PC4000 Crucial Ballistix (running at 200mhz)
    4 Lighted Fans, Lighted case,
    DVD RW, CD ROM ,
    Floppy with Multimedia,
    XFX Geforce 6600GT 128mb
    Antec Trupower 430w  26a on the 12V, 36A on the +5V and 28A on the +3.3V
Ok, Everything works fine, till WINDOWS boots up ... And it wont boot, before the windows XP loading screen, it stays black, and freezes.. now.. to me it seems like memory/ power supply issue. lowered timings, raised Memory to 2.8v (Crucial suggest this voltage for the ram) ... no go... now my power supply is a good power supply.. but its only 20pin, and the nforce 4 ultra (well MSI) is 24pins ATX 2.0.. mine is a standard ATX12V... its supposed to still work, but Ive had mixed bagss of peopel saying it worked for them, and others that said it didnt.. but with this power supply, shouldnt I have been fine.. PLEASE someone help me, this is eating me alive...

Oh man this sounds familiar., i'm having some of the same probs. I just redid the install of XP Pro sp2 cause i needed the nvidia raid drivers for the NCQ on the Seagate i got.
The first install went fine but i couldn't  oc more then 220fsb with this Corsair pc4400, so
i was like ok let's just get everything running sweet and then play. So after i added the
printer a usb scanner and a usb memcard reader for the camera, it would just hang after the boot logo for xp then it would hang on the Platinum screen sometimes too.
So i played with the voltages which seemed to help for a little bit., i went 3.3%+ on the cpu, 1.5 on the north bridge, and 2.70 on the mem. So i reformatted and used the 6.39 chipset drivers and the latest vid drivers from the manufacturer and everything seemed ok. So i proceeded to add the printer, scanner and card reader again 1 at a time and it seems like it's after the mobo gets warmed up is when it hangs on booting XP after the bootscreen., Cpu temps are at 35C and this mobo in a Cooler Master Cavalier case runs kinda warm for me like at 36 - 37C (According to Cool n Quiet) after it gets all warmed up. So i'm kinda at a loss here too.  I got the same psu as the first poster. Memtest 86 ran for 4hrs, with no errors, and Sandra burned in for a couple hours with no problems.
Oh and the mobo say's the bios is the 1.1 dated 1-12-2005
So i'm hoping it's a bois thing that will be resolved soon, or is it this psu. Seems like some other fellas have had no probs with lesser psu's. Oh and do those 20 to 24 pin adapters make a difference?

  • BRAND NEW Ipad Air 2 - Wont turn on!!

I bought my Ipad air 2, a month ago and I've had nothing but problems.
In the first week, it would randomly restart and then come back on again. Then by week two, it was shutting down and not turning back on again until several hours later it decided to make an appearance. And now, its shut down 7 days ago and wont come back on!
I'm so disapointed. I bought it for Uni, for it to be reliable and I haven't been able to use it most of the time because I don't want to be writing up essay's and it cut out and not save anything.
It hasn't been dropped or near water (I treat it like a new born baby - I wont even put it on a surface that isn't cushioned) so it has to be a fault with apple.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I have sent mine back to the apple store today to see what they can say about it.

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.

  • HELP! Brand new Toshiba DX735-D3660 wont turn on, says "no signal"

Hi, I bought a brand new Toshiba DX735-D3660 All In One from the States and got it sent to Australia, it arrived last night and I went to turn it on but it simply comes up with "PC" then "No Signal". I have the Power Cord connected to an adapter as it says the input can handle up to 240V (AUS Output level). I had a tech guy come look at it today and he tested the Volts and they came up as 19V and then dropped out, he said the solution was to go and buy a new AC Adapter. I did, and it still hasn't solved the problem. The new AC Adapter has an output of 19V and a max of 7.5A, so it should be fine. It is still coming up with "PC" then "No Signal", the power light is amber then flashes white once turned on then goes back to amber. There is no sound coming from the computer so it doesn't appear to be starting at all. Any solutions would be great! Thanks Lach

  • Brand new mac mini won't boot

I bought a mac mini for my teenaged daughter because the lap top options simply weren't in our price range. I have a high end dell monitor that is about five years old. It hasn't been used regularly so I felt this was a good fit. I was reassured by several that my peripherals would work with the mac mini... no problem. We had to buy a new keyboard, mouse and adapter for the monitor. This took several days and two trips to two different stores to accomplish. We finally got everything set up and working properly or so we thought. The system struggled to download office suite for mac. The system stopped working completely after attempting to download norton anti-virus for mac. Now the system won't boot at all. I've only tried to turn the system on and off to get it working again. I had it up for five minutes yesterday but again it shut down for no reason and now I can't get it back up at all. I usppose a trip to the Apple store is next on the list. Any suggestions are appreciated.

That is good news...the genius bar folks are generally great to deal with.  Especially when you make an appointment and don't get all upset while waiting for someone to get free
As was said at the outset, be careful about software you install, not all is really good or necessary.  If in doubt, just pose a question on here and you will get sound advice.  We are all fellow users, many of whom have learned the hard way.
Keep in mind, this is a Mac OS X machine, not Windows which has everyone in the world writing viruses to attack.
    Have a Happy New Year.

  • Flashing BIOS on a system that wont boot windows.

Hi, I seem to be the guy all my friends and relative goto to fix their computers and most of the time I can, but I am stuck on this one.
    Computer: HP Pavilion a340n
    Mobo: P4SD-LA (Stingray)
Ok, so I try and boot up, and it tells me it cant find any drives. So I restart and F1 into the BIOS. According to the BIOS there are  no devices on any Master nor Slave slots available through the IDE ports. I checked all connection (its a no brainer I know, but so many times you goto forums and ask for help and end up spending hours explaining that you are not a moron before you get any real help), all connections are fine power works hdd spins lights come on, but BIOS sees nothing, not the hdd nor the cdrom nor USB. So I I have seen something like this before and it turned out to be a corrupted bios. So I go looking for a BIOs for this thing, and it seems that the only bios flash available if an executable from a working windows operating system.
Is there a DOS flash somewhere that I am unaware of. And I have looked into extracting the ROM file from the executable, but for some reason I get a returned error 9 at first, but once I worked through that error I come to the BIOS tag being different. I am pulling battery out and unplugged the PS and discharged it via the power button and letting it sit over night in hopes that trying this will be better than to 2 minute method. But if this doesnt work I am at an impass if there is no way to flash. On one hand I would love to build my friend a new computer, but on the other I know how little cash he has right now.
I am inclined to think this thing is ready for the Garbage Man donation fund, but it would be nice if I could help my buddy out.
Does anyone know of a fix or work around?

remove your bios battery and reinsert it after some time ,,if it is a bios problem it will reset to normal ,,i think garbage man needs 2 wait more time for that computer   best of luck,,,let me know ples if it is wrking or not after you tried my idea
bios battery you can find inside your cpu( i guss its a desktop)

  • Re-imaged brand new iMac and no longer boots

    Hiya,
I did this in the past and naively did it again!  We use a fairly up to date image that we restore machines with, however on this occasion a new iMac came in and I re-imaged it.  Sad to say, the machine boots up with a slightly turned no entry sign.  I seen this in the past and think it has something to do with the image not recognising the new chipset...
However, I tride the Recovery technique to download and install a fresh copy onto the mac-hd.  It seems to work with no error issues and gets as far as rebooting but then the no entry sign appears again!
Does anyone have any ideas as I doubt we will get a new iMac in any time soon to take an image of it?
    Thanks

New machines usually come with a computer-specific build, rendering installing images made with earlier versions unworkable. However, since wiping and restoring via the recovery mode failed, contact Apple's Express Lane and let them sort things out.
P.S. Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try recovery again.
