  • Why is my BRAND NEW touch smart screen not recognizing my touch?

I can't figure out why when I purchased my HP touch smart screen computer, at the store on display, it was working, and now when I set it all up, it doesn't recognize my finger touch!

If it doesn't even make a chirping noise when you touch the screen, it may be defective.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus losing wireless connectivity, cannot scan to computer

In our office, we have roughly 4 computers using the HP Officeject Pro 8600 Plus, all of which are connected wirelessly. The printer was previously connected to the internet wirelessly with no problems. A couple of days ago however our computers started randomly disconnecting. The printing function would work for a bit, then disconnect. I found the only solution to this problem was to hit the button on our wireless router that resends the wireless signal out for connectivity.
We hardwired the printer with an ethernet cable and I myself didn't see any further problems regarding connectivity but a couple of the other computers had spotty connections.  Again, each time this can be remedied by hitting the button on the wireless router.
Today  however we had an additional problem, after trying to scan a document through the automatic document feeder, the printer said it was jammed (although it wasnt). When we went to rescan, the scan to computer function was no longer working. I can scan by hitting the scan button on my HP Printer Assitant interface, and I can also scan to email, but cannot scan to computer.
I have gone through several forums and haven't been able to find a solution. I personally use Windows 8, but other people in our office are using older versions of Windows. We've tried unplugging, restarting, hardwiring, resetting wireless settings, uninstalling, etc. etc. Before a few days ago the pritner was working fine for a number of months.
If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

  • Upgraded my touch smart 520-1070 to windows 8 and now no program under hp touch smart works?

Upgraded my touch smart 520-1070 to Windows 8 and now no program under hp touch smart works (HP MUsic, HP Touch Smart Magic Canvas, etc)? Everything worked fine under Windows 7. No other problems with the Window 8 installation. It was very smooth.
    Any Fixes or patches available?

Please see "HP - Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8" for more information on limitations and requirements of upgrading a HP Windows 7 computer to Windows 8.
Not all Windows 8 features may be available on all Windows 7 computers. Your computer may require additional hardware, software, firmware, and/or a BIOS upgrade to install and run Windows 8.
Secure boot is not available on any HP Consumer Desktop or All-in-One computers.
If you purchased your computer prior to October 1st , 2011, HP has not tested or developed drivers for your model computer. Therefore an upgrade of your computer may be difficult or impossible.
HP recommends installing the 64-bit version of Windows 8 for desktop computers.
Not all Windows 8 features will be available on all computers, and your particular experience with Windows 8 is determined by the capabilities of your computer.
Software designed for Windows 7 or earlier operating systems may not work after installing Windows 8.
HP provides Windows 8 compatible software and updated drivers to support only specific computer models.
You might not be able to view DVD movies after upgrading. If you currently use a DVD codec to play DVD movies, such as the encoder that comes with Windows 7 Professional, this encoder may not be available after upgrading to Windows 8. To continue to play DVDs after you upgrade, go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/feature-packs to download Windows Media Center or purchase DVD playback software.
If you currently use DVD playback software from HP, the Windows 8 installation process helps you determine if your playback software is compatible with Windows 8 or if an update is required. If the software is compatible and you perform an In-place Upgrade, you have the option to keep this software during the upgrade. If you perform a Clean Install you must reinstall the software after the upgrade.
Windows 7 PCs with touch will not have full Windows 8 touch capabilities after upgrade. HP PCs with touch input hardware designed for Windows 7 will provide a comparable experience for only two touch point applications after the upgrade to Windows 8. HP Windows PCs with touch input hardware will not support Windows 8 applications that require more than two simultaneous touch points.
WARNING:HP Linkup, HP Application Assistant, HP TouchSmart Magic Canvas and all other HP TouchSmart applications are not compatible with Windows 8 and must be uninstalled before upgrading. Content created using the TouchSmart applications such as Graffiti will not be available after upgrading.

This subject has been talked/written about a lot, after Lion was introduced. A solution from Apple has not yet been published, everybody is waiting.
Try for instance https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3734081?start=15&tstart=0, but there are more discussion groups with the same subject: frequently lost WiFi-connections in newer Macs running Lion or up.

  • My brand new iPad Air 2 is making a random popping sound.

My brand new iPad Air 2 is making a random popping sound and there are crackling sounds when I have the earphones plugged in and browsing with no music. Guy at Apple store could not replicate it when I walked in. Is this normal?
Should I get it replaced and what are the chances that its going to happen again?

Around here I've seen many posters that have renamed the ipad air 2 the "Ipop". You should read some of the older posts by clicking on View More at the bottom of the page until you come across it or do a search for Ipad air 2 popping noise. Last I saw it was hit or miss.  Good luck.

  • Brand New Airport Express-Green Light Wireless, Dead Green Wired

I just bought a brand-new airport express device. I have a cable modem connected to a dual band AirPort Extreme base station in my basement. My house is wired with Cat5 Ethernet cable. In a far bedroom, I am replacing an airport express-N (previous model) that was hard-wired to the Extreme. Always worked perfectly in extending and supplying 2.4ghz band wifi to that part of the house. I bought the brand-new AirPort Express to utilize the dual band bridge.
After many hours of trying, this new airport express will only work properly if I do not plug in the Ethernet cable. It seems to be performing well, but i was under the impression that an ethernet cable should be used to physically connect the AirPort devices each other.
Currently, in this wireless setup, I do have both bands available. I feel that if I used the cable, I would have much stronger better signal.
Interestingly, when I do ether-connect the airport devices together. My AirPort Utility looses all of my AirPort devices and shows (with a yellow dot) that my Internet (modem) is not available. At the same time, all of my AirPort devices continue to show a green light. I am unable to connect anything with any of my wireless devices.
Also, when everything seems to be working fine, my AirPort Utility does depict the wireless set up with a dashed line between the two AirPort devices representing that it is wireless connection.
With my last AirPort Express, a wireless set did extend the range, but only while slowing everything down. An ethernet cable, when introduced, made everything work perfectly, during which time the AirPort Utility depicted that setup with all solid line indicating wired connectivity.
I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who might be able to tell me why when I introducing ethernet to the new AirPort Express, it takes down the entire wireless network.
Hi, of course, try all of the normal troubleshooting suggestions. I recycled all devices I have rebooted everything.

It's always a good idea to do a complete power recycle when switching out network components ...
Try the following, in order, checking for Internet access after each step, until resolved:
    1. If the modem has a reset switch, use it to reset the modem. Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the modem to initialize.
    2. Remove power from the modem. If it has a backup battery, remove this as well. Wait 5-10 minutes. Replace the battery, and add power back to the modem.
    3. Perform a complete power recycle of your network components as follows:
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
o Power-off the modem, 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the modem, AEBSn, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    4. Contact your ISP to have them perform a "modem reset."

  • Brand new Touch 4th gen recognized by Win7 Dell but not by iTunes on it.

PC recognizes the iPod Touch 4th Gen which is brand new. The iPod will only show the connect to iTunes icon. iTunes does not recognize either this iPod or my 3rd gen one that it lost after I updated the OS. All software is updated. I've tried all 3 USB ports, restarting, reinstalling, everything offered on the help pages. Nothing makes any difference. Any ideas at all? This looks like a fairly common problem with the new OS maybe? I am totally stumped. So now I have two useless iPods showing me a connect to iTunes icon. As if!!!

  • Brand new Touch screen cracks after fall on timber ? Refurbished IPOD ?

Now does anyone have thoughts to this story ?
We gave my daughter a brand new 32 GB white IPOD Touch this X-mas.
Because it is summer here and we spend a lot of time outside she listened outside of the house.
She then dropped it from about 60 cm on the (soft !) timber deck. This was on day 4 after we gave it to her and activated the IPOD.
What happened is that the glass cracked from the left lower corner, radiating over the whole screen.
My house is full of Apple products and I have dropped my Iphone and my own Ipod a couple of times, but never had any damage.
Is falling on a soft wooded deck enough to break the new IPOD Touch glass screen ?
This got me very worried, especially as we have no Apple Shop anywhere in New Zealand, and the retail shop that represents Apple here have me a business card of a dubious guy who would repair it for 180 $ but i would void Apple warranty. That for a device less than a week old !!
    Tomorrow AppleCare will ring me.
I saw they used in the past quite a lot of courtesy, especially if the device was very new, but as usual that is probably only for US customers????????
Could this screen have been under tension, cracking after such a minimal trauma ?
When we opened the box brand new there were some minor scratches on the back of the IPOD. My daughter did not mind, but could this have been a refurbished IPOD ?
Looking forward to your opinions and will keep you posted what the AppleCare Team says.
    Thanks

    - Is falling on a soft wooded deck enough to break the new IPOD Touch glass screen ?
Yes, you proved that.  Having it land on a corner is what did it in.
    - I saw they used in the past quite a lot of courtesy, especially if the device was very new, but as usual that is probably only for US customers????????
That typically ony happens when you make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.  It is not limited to the USA
    - When we opened the box brand new there were some minor scratches on the back of the IPOD. My daughter did not mind, but could this have been a refurbished IPOD ?-
I doubt it.  Maybe the iPod was dispayed to someone before you purchased it.  Since you do not have Apple stores, only reprsentitives, I do not know their policy.

  • Brand New Touch 4th Gen won't sync out of box

This is driving me crazy. I've been using a 1st Generation Touch on my Vista PC. It started having a lot of problems dropping the wi-fi signal. Then, it just stopped syncing altogether. Not sure if it's related, but I wonder. iTunes wouldn't open and wouldn't recognize the device.
So, I tried everything. Reinstalling iTunes seemed to work, but only the first sync, then it would never work again until I uninstalled and reinstalled. Then I got a 1603 error, got through that to a 1611 error and then I got the USB icon and couldn't do anything with it. Was about to quit when I discovered YouTube videos (well, just Touch sync ones). I wound up trying to DFU and most amazingly it synced, finally.
The next morning, wouldn't sync again. I was so frustrated I decided to get a new one. Found one on craigslist, brand new, still sealed in box, great price, but no receipt, no warranty. Same problems! I just now reinstalled iTunes and that didn't even help. I don't want to fool around hacking the new one. And, I'm beginning to suspect (duh) that it's something wrong with my PC software, not the pods'.
Any recommendations? So incredibly frustrating, was just supposed to work out of the box, grrrr.
    Thanks for any help,
    Sharon

Why happens when you install the last compatible version of the podcast app and sync?
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • Brand new iMac does not work wirelessly

This is a very strange situation and I don't know how much to be concerned about it.
6 weeks ago I bought the first of two brand new iMacs. We have two old G4s both wired into a Netgear wireless router, plus the printer. The first new iMac when switched on, immediately found the Netgear and has worked perfectly, wirelessly, ever since. As it should.
Less than a week ago I bought the second new iMac, which is identical to the first. I put it on the _same desk_ as the Netgear, therefore a distance of only one foot. Straight out of the box, it worked wirelessly to register itself with Apple.
Since then, it has only worked wirelessly very intermittently, and then very slowly indeed. I was wasting far too much time trying to figure out why the wireless did not work, and eventually wired it into the router too.
I was attempting to set up a network with 2 old G4s wired in, and 2 new iMacs wireless. Now I have 3 wired in and one wireless.
Is there something wrong with the second brand new iMac? Or is there some line I should be pursuing with Netgear?
I have written all the IP addresses down in case anyone responding - and I sure hope SOMEONE responds! - thinks that this may be a clue.
Many thanks in advance to all and any replies.

Update: I'm posting this in case it helps others......
I phoned the software support which comes free for 90 days with a brand new iMac.
The bright young man there instantly knew what the problem was, because he'd seen it all before. There's nothing wrong with the iMac and it has nothing to do with IP addresses.
I have to go into the Netgear configuration screen and Enable MAC filtering. This means I'll give the router the hardware addresses of the two iMacs and it will then allow both of them to communicate wirelessly - but no other devices which might be lurking in the vicinity.
    Sounds good to me.

  • Brand new HP Stream 7 won't connect to the internet

Took out my brand new HP Stream 7 tablet and set it up - and it won't connect to the internet.
Nothing obvious, but it reports that Wifi hardware can not be found.
I'm sure it's a driver problem - but since I can't get to the network from the machine - not exactly sure how to proceed (or whether its worth the grief - since I can just package up the box and return it).
If I go to the Control Panel - Devices and Printers - it shows a Device with my computer name on it, with a warning graphic indicating a problem, and when I click troubleshoot it tells me there is a problem with the Realtek Bluetooth UART Bus driver and offers to reinstall it again, but when I try I just get an error message telling me there's a driver problem and that the issue isn't fixed.
Have to wonder if anyone actually tests this stuff or whether they just ship it out without worrying about whether or not it works.

    Hello shaw44:
Have you tried disabling and reenabling the adapter?  Have you run the HP Support Assist which will perform some tests and it also may reset the adapter for you?
Another option is to uninstall the driver from the control panel on the desktop using Device Manager.   Windows should uninstall the driver from there.   Then, you can click "scan for hardware changes" and it should reinstall the driver.
As a last resort, If you were to get a mini USB to USB adapter or a male to female adapter (to use with the charger cord), you could download the file on anther device, transfer it to a USB flash drive and then copy it onto your Stream 7 tablet.
    Hope this helps.

  • My brand new Macbook PRO i5 can't connect to internet after sleep? It works fine after reboot.

I have a brand new Macbook PRO with the latest OS and the latest EFI. I haven't installed any 3'rd party products except Moneywell for my private finances. After a couple of days it couldn't connect to internet after sleep. I run the network diag and it says the connection is OK. Log out/in doesn't help. I have to reboot everytime it wakes up after sleep. Any clue?

I am having the exact same problem.  It started with 10.7, was fixed with 10.7.1, then came back again with 10.7.2.

  • Airport extreme losing wireless connection with Time Capsule

I have a 1st gen Time Capsule acting as my home wireless network base station which is configured to allow the wireless network to be extended.  It is also the sole DHCP server.  I have a 4th gen Airport Extreme in Extend a Wireless network mode.  Everything was running ok for several months.  However, since I upgraded both devices to Version 7.6, the Airport extreme keeps losing its connection with the network every few hours, requiring a daily reboot.  Since the problem occured, I have disabled MAC address Access Control on the Time Capsule, and allocated a reserved DHCP IP address for the Airport Extreme - but this has not solved the problem.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

I had exactly the same problem. I also think it's a bug in 7.6. It seemed solved by downgrading my Time Capsule (TC) and my Airport Extreme (AE) to 7.5.2. To do so start the Airport Utility (in your /Applications/Utilities folder). Double click on the TC or AE. In the Menu at the top on your screen go to "Base Station" --> "Upload Firmware..." and the select 7.5.2. After rebooting your device, downgrade the other. Hopefully your problem is solved as well!
